@Marley Parker I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
The problem with liquitex is that people use the same recipe as floetrol. Liquitex is far superior. What liquitex does is keep the pigments so that enough water can be used to achieve the desired thinness of the paint. You don't have to use that much liquitex. When I started I used that amount until I heard Mely D. Now I just cover the paint a little with liquitex on top and this allows me to add almost 30% to 40% water depending on the paint and the technique that I'm going to use.
That is indeed a great point. The binders in Liquitex are much greater than other non professional mediums so your diluting no-go point gets much lower in the % range. It depends on the affects I want to get to decide if I use more PM or more water.
You’re welcome 😊 However, don't put two of these that used liquitex together if you haven't varnished your painting. They can stick together. If it goes right on the wall it isn't a problem.
I’ve started using liquitex with paint, which is Mont Marte. 6’7”, your poor mama, u must have looked 3 months old when born😬. Back to ur teaching methods, YOU ROCK!!!!!

Hi David - I bought a bucket of this before I came down with Covid in December 😟. My question is, do I need to strain this like US Floetrol? Thanks very much… I will start re-watching your videos because I can’t seem to remember anything I learned before Covid. Arrrgh!
This is great! I've been contemplating but the cost had me wondering if it's really worth it! I am using Floetrol but I'm concerned about archival quality. Thanks for the video!
I always find my self referring back to yours Tammy anderson, mrs Julie cutts, from Australia and Molly D, olga and Heather's video's for cells etc, and PM'S i just bought liquitex from michael's but think I got the wrong dang one!!! grrrr after specific things, bills etc. I am gonna get the big jug of liquitex. I also like Deco art PM, for my deco art paints, you are fantastic dood!!! I need help with consistency!!!
That is a beautiful painting! Thank you for this demonstration on Liquitex. Besides a drop or two of water, did you have anything else added to the Liquitex? I just checked your Amazon link. It was $62.56 today. Not the best maybe, but definitely not $99.99. At today’s price, it’s $0.49 per ounce. I bought it. 😊
I did not add anything but water. I think you'll be quite impressed by the Liquitex. Even adding this to other mediums gives some nice effects. My only ding is I haven't had good success with silicone but for all other uses I have loved it.
Hi! While watching this video, I went straight in Amazon to look for deal on the 1 GA. (best price right now is $76 - I'll wait). BUT by doing so, I found a Liquitex "Fluid Medium" and I don't know the softener with a "Pouring Medium". Could you explain it to me?? THANKS!
So, I goofed and bought an irredensent liquitex pm vs. Gloss (they all look the same). Any experience with this products? I use it as part of of floetrol recipe.
That can work, it is just a bit thicker as I recall so it might need some water. You'll also get shimmer shine in all of your paintings which is pretty awesome.
I ordered mine thats 946 ml and got it today but I can see that on the bottle Gloss isn't mentioned. Earlier I used to order the smaller bottles and they clearly mentioned Gloss on the bottle. Even the bigger one I ordered now says Gloss in the picture that I saw on Amazon but the bottle I have received looks different and Gloss isn't mentioned though it says Liquitex pouring medium. Are the two same? Or is there Matt and Gloss both variants available? I am confused whether I have received the right product or not.
Any chance you could send me a picture? My website has a contactus form where you can email from (leftbrainedartist.com/contact). I don't want to put the email here as the bots pick it up and I start getting a lot of spam.
Is Liquitex Gloss medium OK or should I buy the matte Liquitex medium? I mean, the gloss version works just as well as the matte version? Sorry about bothering you with these simple questions.... :-((((
Matte Medium and Gloss Medium and Pouring Medium are all different. You want the Pouring Medium and not the regular Gloss or Matte mediums. Those are for adding directly to paint to make them glossy or matte and not for pouring.
Does the Liquitex come in a matte finish too? I really like the idea of highlighting aspects of a pour by using a gloss varnish on them against a really flat negative space of base colour that has a matte finish. I'm struggling to find a matte finish pouring medium though. 6'8"?!? Holy crap! I'm 5'3" - it'd be like being a Hobbit standing next to you! 🤣 Then again I feel that with most people, even of a "normal" height 🤣
In my neck of Florida they never have large quantities or rarely usually when there is no coupon. Just finally found Glue All gallon in Lowes, Michaels and Joanne's do not sell it here, so no coupon there either. But now I will be vigilant. I would like to ask you what is it that I am doing that makes a predictable striation effect with lots o small rivulets but few cells. Also I always get a muddied blob in the center where everything around it is lovely. Lots of small cells. Using Oggi dimethicone (hair stuff).
Use thicker paint to get more definition between colors. Layer the paint in sections rather than pour the paint deeply into the other paints which makes the paint mix more. Use more paint to pouring medium ratio (1:1 or 1:2) to help the color really stand out. Don't use craft paints. Pour the paint out of the cup very slowly and from as close to the canvas as you can for techniques like a tree ring or a straight pour. Those would be my first suggestions.
