I've been painting for about four years and this is the best video I've ever seen on mixing your paint. I have a friend who wants to start painting and I am sending this one to her. BTW, I can see how your paint mounds much better than most videos I've seen. You are close to the camera with good lighting. This is going into my favorites. You have a new subscriber!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! 💕
I have to agree with the last person here!! So howcome u use that thick liquidex Prussian blue why not just get sum Golden brand Prussian blue, being that it's soooooo rich & easier & quicker to mix upp₩??
Sure wish I saw your video on adding minwax to floetrol b4 I put out $75. Cdn for a liter of Australian floetrol. I only use it for cell activator which really sucks as I really want to use it all the time, in every paint I mix up....but given the price....I don't....but then I'm not very happy with most my paintings...so I should just go ahead & use it all the time..& get better results..coz now I can just make my own aussie floetrol...thanx 2 you Meta!! I'm very grateful for this info...thank u so very very much!! I can't wait to do this.... ..oh no, 2 days ago I mixed up all my paints already with artist loft pouring medium & water...& theyre quite thin...any suggestions how I can incorporate my aussie into my already mixed thin paints? Thicken them first?? But how?coz honestly well over $1,000. all my paints I mixed up already😮😢😮😢😮😢😮😢
@@brendavarga2387 you can absolutely use a cheaper or more liquid Prussian blue. BUT when you use medium or heavy body paints, I find that the color is a lot more vibrant and opaque! Even tho it’s quite a workout to mix the heavy body paint with floetrol 😂 using a less viscous paint works great especially for a beginner or someone who just wants to play around with techniques. Save the medium/heavy body paints for your masterpieces 🥰 I hope this helps!
@@brendavarga2387go get an acrylic paint medium! There are many mediums that can help thicken or thin the paint mixture. You can bring the watery mix back to a nice consistency. You can also opt for glue or adding more paint :) ❤
You have no idea how much your instructions plus DEMONSTRATION means to me and other beginners. I've saved your video to my special file for paint pouring.
No more waste and disappointment.
I've ordered a kitchen scale, too.
Thanks so much, dear one.
Glad it was helpful!
Oh my goodness...you are like THE FIRST of probably a hundred videos that I have watched that actually gives a comprehensive lesson on EXACTLY how your paints are supposed to look when you finish mixing them, depending on what time of pour you're doing. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much. You don't know how much your actual VISUAL of the mixed paint has helped put my mind at ease. I've been doing craaaaaazy lol. I started with pre-mixed paints and nothing was working out right so Ive finally bitten the bullet and decided to buy some floetrol. I had been avoiding this because I wasnt sure if I would ever be able to do it right. My floetrol gets here today from amazon lol. So I am excited to go off with the knowledge you dropped in this video and hopefully successfully mixed some paint and FINALLY be able to do a dutch poor and get a result that doesnt immediately make me scream and throw the canvas in the trash lol.
Thank you for your kindness to share the secret of preparing your recipe.
You are an angel

Meta, Thank you so much, I learned a lot, from the mixing, using Floetrol, and the different kind of paints…love, love your tutorial presentation. Now, I am sure what I will be creating with the pouring paint technics. I will follow you for more information and watch your videos. 🤩❤️🤩👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much. I've been painting off and on for about a year. My biggest mistake is learning different mixes with different paints. With colors and different techniques. So I'm starting over and finally listening ...
I'm so glad that it helped you MIchelle! Thank you for watching!
Excellent tutorial on mixing paints. Thank you so much!
Glad it helped you Krista!
You did a excellent job of explaining! Thanks much
Thank you so much!!!! I’m new doing this and after searching and searching thankfully I found you! I love every project that I have seen.
The best explanation!!! Thanks I’m going to fallow you always!! Have a beautiful day!!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad it helped you! You have a beautiful day as well! 💕
I have just watched your paint mix video for the first time, I wish I had seen it prior to the other 50 or so paint mixing tutorials on Utube that I have watched because you have made it quite clear to me how I can proceed to mix my acrylic paint in future with various types of paint. The other videos have done nothing for me except to confuse me. I almost gave up altogether because I have failed several times with my pouring due to the consistency of my paint. Now I shall try your method, I know you said everyone's paint mix is different but at least your instructions are easy to follow. Thanks so much for your help JB (UK).
Excellent!! Excellent!! video.....
Great video thank you🥰
Thank you. This is great info. I have been mixing my paint for my Dutch pours. Maybe I will have a better out come.

~ I gave your recipe a go with the Pearl Pour Technique this am using US Floetrol and Minwax ... WOW ~ pretty much the same as the Aussie Floetrol ~ LOTS of Pearls ~
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH ~ for your Ingenuity, Time and Energy and SHARING ❤️🎨

Really appreciate the lesson,tysm.
Glad it helped!
thank you
Great tutorial, Meta! I’ve gotta get me some of those Golden fluid acrylics. The price always scares me away, but that mixed up so nicely! Awesome job 👍😊
I was super hesitant for a long time. But I've found that they are more cost efficient in the long run, because you really use less paint.
This is an excellent teaching video. Thank you for taking the time to explain the process thoroughly. I am really struggling with getting my consistencies right. And, like you mentioned, I am not satisfied that my results aren't what I expect. Thanks for sharing.
Thank u so much for your help I'm trying to learn how to do this on my own so you really helped me out
Thanks a lot for your very interesting infos
Thank you
Great video!!😊😊

great tutorial. you explained it well. congrats🎉🎉 on 1k subscribers 🤙
Thanks
Glad it helped you!
Can you please do a video on how you mix your PM by adding the pre stain wood conditioner?
Yes, I totally can!
Fabulous tutorial my friend.❤ I'm just now using Goldens flow. It is thin.
Yes it's much thinner than tube paints! But the pigments are amazing!
Great video & nice eye-balling. I'm just getting started, but I now what the thickness should look like. Didn't realize how much less water the metallic would take though. Great info since I haven't bought any yet, but I'm getting ready to. Thanks!
How exciting to be getting ready for that first pour! Glad this video helped you on your way!
Lovely art❤! Perfect! Hope see you soon! Thank you so much for sharing! 😊stay connnected 😊new friend 🙏
👍🏼
I've been doing what you've been doing with the liquitex and artist loft paints, but adding 2 parts liquitex gloss medium. Should I be doing just 1or the other, Floetrol or gloss medium?
I have a question it's on your base , 25:55 I watch Kanella and she does hers and grams and Mark Jazack does his mls. My question is not about mixing the paint but for your mixing your base paint , I like to go in ounces. With that said I would love to see a video on how you mix your base paint for a Dutch poor? Thanks hun for your help. ❤❤❤❤❤
Great video! Would love to know how you mix MinWax with Floetrol.
Hi Marie, So glad you enjoyed the video! Here is a link to how I add minwax! ua-cam.com/video/BaIw-LFMM5Y/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I am gathering knowledge for my first pour. I am curious why not add more Floetrol instead of water especially when lots of water is needed?
Meta as a beginner so ready to do this painting but find the pillow is so important for the design to move on. Do you have a video about this? It seems like it should be the easiest part of the pour but I'm not grasping the secrete
So i just got all my supllies. Im getting ready to try for my first time. I have the artist loft ones and floetrol. Is there a good style of pour to start with thats not to tough? I dont have a blow dryer or really any other tools besides cups. Also can i combine the artist loft/floetrol with fluid-art ready to pour paint in the piece?
First timer
Hey, I'd like to know what your ratio consistency for your tree swipes is? Thick or thin ? And thank you. 😊
Hello Meta ❤️😘
Hello 😊
I would love to know what minx you use? There are many kinds. 🙂
What about the mix for base pour and the top pour?
Not sure where I got the tip from but you can put pantyhose over the opening of the floetrol to strain it straight from the bottle. I just opened a bottle that I haven’t used in over a year and it poured out nicely with no lumps.
Good tip! Thank you!
I'm trying to figure out on a 2 ft by 3 ft Gallery canvas how much face paint I would need using artist Loft flow acrylic, I've tried canelo's recipe, Mark Radcliffe recipe and this is just for the base paint. And it seems to runny if I may ask how much artist Loft soft body to floetrol would you mix for a 2 ft x 3 ft Gallery wrap canvas please and thank you❤❤❤❤❤
Base paint
Hi Meta can you premix large amounts of paint to put in 32 oz squirt bottles ? I see artists using these large squeeze bottles and wondered if you could premix paint with Floetrol, Liquitex PM, and water, and if this affects the PM and Floetrol being stored ahead of time ? how long can the premix be stored ❤️
You can definitely mix up paint and save it for later. Water and Pouring medium last quite a wile, but I wouldn't recommend storing paints with any other additives added for long periods of timer. (meaning silicone or minwax)
Thank you !! Sorry Je parle français😉
Can I mix and use at a later time?
I think it would have been super helpful for you to measure the water you added for those of us that are trying to figure it out. As at one time you said this was perfect for ring pour, then it was perfect for flip etc....since I'm not sure what the paints are suppose to look or feel like, I could have copied your recipe exactly and then I would know...hope that makes sense. thank you for the video.
Sorry the video didn't help you more. Unfortunately there are no exact measurements. The amount of water added to achieve consistency is going to vary depending on temperature, humidity, paint brand. I gauge consistency on how the paint from the stirring stick hits the cup. Which I try to share on video, but I'll be the first to admit I'm not a professional videographer, just someone who tries as best they can to share her love and knowledge of this craft.
Do you think you could do this on a vinyl record?
How do you mix your base coat? Ratio or receipe? Thank you!
I usually mix a base coat up the same way as I would other paints. Except for my metallics pearl pours. That base is thinned way down with water.
@@MetaPours I think I can go with this answer with a little liquidtex Varnish for gloss ???
With all these different pain in tubes, jars, bottles etc. Some from hardware stores & others from artist supply be nice if you would say with each one, where you got it please
Turn up the volume
Sorry that it's hard to hear Kathy.
What color of paint did you use
Hi. I live in the uk. . Do you know what the uk version of floetrol is. . Not sure what to by over here. . X
I think it's something called Owatrol? But I'm really not that familiar with it.
I'm seeing alot of paints that are premixed, what does that mean. 15:25
Hi Meta, l have problems with my base coat, in fact haven’t been pouring for about 5 months due to health problems. I mixed my base coat and thought it was looking okay but unfortunately when pouring my colours it was full of cells and ruined the whole thing , do you have any idea what l did wrong, l am wondering if I had too much Fotrol in the mix please help if you can
Newbe what is the mixture for my canvas
After adding the water to the Blue, I was excited to see you bring the scale back - but - you didn’t weigh the paint cup! If you had weighed it we could have learned the weight of the water you added. The Floetrol was 2.1, the blue paint was 1.1. It would have been lovely to see the final weight ☹
Does this floetrol have the minwax in it?
No I mixed this without any miniwax. Though if it was in it I would mix the exact same way.
Lowes has decided to increase their Qt size by $3 per. I DID find a gallon on Amzon for $16 total w/free AZ Prime. I HOPE it's genuine. I'll let you know once it arrives.
I hope it is!
@@MetaPours its legit! 😂 Many of you pouring influencers offer it for $7.98 p/Qt. (Free S&H w/Prime.) Here in NC Lowes has gone up $10.98 p/Qt & discontinued gallons. Home Depot doesnt sell gals either now. TRUST ME...if you DO fine them they're back stock. And In this heat & ESP humidity, it separates to a point it's chemical integrity can be restored by shaking. It doesn't travel well in summer nor is it if stored too long. ALWAYS shake, open, smell & dip a finger in & test a spot on your arm. ...I learned this the hard way. Amazon is the way to go for US Floetrol 100% now! 😁
What is a Dutch pour
Have you ever using blending gel in an acrylic pour?
Добрый день. Я с большим удовольствием хотела прослушать ваш урок, но к сожалению, нет перевода на русский язык.
What happens if you don't have some of these supplies because you don't have the money to get them is it ok to not use some of these items?
There are many ways to mix paint. Some people just use water. I know others have success with glue.
One of the joys of this medium is there is so many possibilities!
Ok
ابغى افهم للاسف لااجيد الللغه
so you say 1 part, 2 parts, do you mean volume or weight, you are using weight, but weight is different for the same volume depending on the pigments in the paint
What if you are using a larger than normal size canvas,do you double or triple etc.the floetrol and paint recipe accordingly…….I pour I don’t know what my technique is called though but my recipe is all over the place……I like yours a whole lot better.
A bit slow for me
Also since e this is a beginning video a short explanation of what acrylic pouring is would be helpful .
Instead of trying to strestch towards the camera, move the camera a little up n over towards you. It will show better into work area. No matter how close to the camera you get your still tilting towards you
U didn't saw what a Dutch pour. So this adds to confusion being its for beginning.
zzzzz
You shouldn’t ramble on so much, stick to the topic…. please!
My bad that my free educational content wasn't up to your standards.
Unfortuneately I can hardly hear you, I have my volumn up 100% but you are hard to hear some of the time.
How to mix whit and which white do you use? What do you use to cover table?
thank you
So glad it helped you!
