Finding the actual U2 Joshua Tree

- While doing landscape photography near Death Valley, California, I took a detour and visited the real joshua tree famously photographed by Anton Corbijn for the gatefold and back cover of U2's classic album. The tree was no longer alive (it now lays in the sand), but all around the base of the tree were loads of intriguing mementos and gifts from fans who made the journey before me. Here's what I found.

Thank you for this amazing video! I really appreciate you leaving directions to the Joshua tree location. Thank you again for the work you put into this.
I found it in 2012 before the vandalism started...this is hallowed ground as far as I'm concerned.
So cool, thanks for taking us along with you!
Cool video. I hope to make the trip this year. Can anyone tell me how long it would take to drive from Las Vegas to that exact spot? I tried using Google Maps to figure it out, but it will not let me. It would be really useful information to me.
3.5hr drive ENE from the Strip to a pullout on the highway either through Pahrump or Beatty. About a 10 minute walk S from there to the tree. Check with DVNP first - their roads are still all jacked up from flooding.
I remember when Apple added a terrible U2 album to my iPhone, and I couldn’t delete it. Some work is good and appropriate for it’s time, and sometimes it’s just not good.
Lol - agreed. Probably seemed like a great idea at first, but people (including me) by and large hated the intrusion.
Cool outing. I had no idea that tree was a “known” place. Fun video, thx for sharing.
Wise words. Thanks for sharing this experience.
We were there 3 days after this was posted!
Is there snakes there?
Some great words of wisdom Todd, "Sometimes you just have to push it out into the world, and move on." So many projects I've had to do this, because I'm trying to edit with footage or audio recorded previously, and at the time of editing I've grown a ton, but I can only do so much with what I have from back then.
Walked by that very spot in 2013 and 2017 and never knew the significance...
yo what camera are you using in the beginning of this??? looks killer!
Very cool. Nicely produced video! As usual, great videography.
That was a great tribute for U2 Todd. Glad I had the chance to see it. Thanks.
What ND filter strength where you using out there?
Someone should rebuild it
I was there just last week ☀️☀️☀️
Fantastic!
