The movie should've ended with them consistently making active errors in the piece. This way he'd suffer more by not being able to do anything as 'punishment' and also never being able to experience 'perfection' again.
Chance Brandt i thought the exact same thing! Torture him with horrible performances! Otherwise, you’re choosing to perform for him (which is what he wanted)!
Also, as a cellist, this movie grossly misrepresents music. Getting all of the notes right is about a 5th of what's actually important. Don't know if this is relivent, but just wanted to say that :D. I don't really know how musicians are viewed by most people. :p.
It worked because they played it how they wanted. They most likely played that last piece imperfectly and that would bother the rapist guy. So, he still gets his comeuppance lol.

It's not what Westerners would think of as appetizing but congee is a dish in Chinese cuisine that is recommended for someone feeling sick/ill. So it's actually thoughtful that she is recommending it. ( This would be the equivalent of getting someone soup when they are sick)

This movie was made for the film festival circuit, not for streaming. That is important to know when analyzing the movie. It was designed for audiences to have 0% knowledge going in of what they are about to see (genre/plot/length/etc). For those who watched it streaming, after being exposed to trailers, posters, and reviews, it’s not gonna land the same.

She was brainwashed and in a cult. Charlotte wanted her to free herself by extremes measures because she was so deep into believing she was nothing without the instructor. It’s like that saying about leading a horse to water but you can’t make it drink. You can’t just remove the cultist, they have to do it them self.

I actually thought it was very well made - because it was so twisty and constantly changing. I was confused, knowing i was about to watch a "horror" movie - suddenly watching a love story and then boom, it changed the entire perspective, which got me intrigued.
I really felt elizabeth's feelings for some reason - so intense.
I loved this movie. I love how the movie reminds its self amd shows you the other persons POV and what happened before the jump cut. Also it's amazing to have two main characters be in a lesbian relationship. It made me happy to see some lesbian representation. The music and camera work was just amazing and the ending was rewarding

I loved the cinematography and the comments on perspective, but I agree the writing was sloppy. Overall I enjoyed the movie, but I think your idea for the ending is really good. I think it would have been more meaningful to see Anton’s reaction.
The bus ride scene was terrifying and really wish it had given us more of that, or had taken the turn of Charlotte being overcome by the guilt of what she had done and starting to suffer the same fate as Lizzy

I personally loved this movie, its one of my favorite horror/thriller etc. movies. It reminds me a lot of korean/asian cinema, like tale of two sisters. The director/writer (i think) was inspired by korean films and i think it really shows

This was actually a movie made for a movie festival and THEN netflix bought it, so it kinda wasn't a netflix original, just like Black mirror isn't a netflix original series, but I agree, the script was kinda sloppy, and with some plot holes that I still think about now.
The biggest plot hole is why isn't she playing Rip and tear by Mick Gordon.
Almost all movies and shows on Netflix aren't Netflix originals they just bought the rights to stuff already being made or about to be made and they put their stamp on it.

If Lizzy was THAT drugged up, how did she remember their conversation on the mountain?
If Charlotte was trying to “save” Lizzy, why leave her in the middle of nowhere, drugged/sick, and with a freshly amputated hand and blood loss? It’s surprising that she survived at all. No one knew where they were and they were supposed to be on a 2wk vacation, so they wouldn’t even be missed yet.
How did Charlotte get home? She claims that it would’ve taken her 3hrs to order bus tickets in a city where plenty of people would know English, yet she gets home from a rural area where hardly anyone would be able to? Strange.
I also don’t know what the point of her wearing a wig was. Unless they were saying that she was covering her “imperfections” with it, if so, it wasn’t well implied and she’s beautiful with the short hair, so it hardly comes across as an imperfection. Maybe they’re saying that the electroshock treatment was relatively recent. It’s hard to tell.
How did she explain the extreme damage to her forearm requiring an amputation? Plus, that would require a lengthy hospital stay.
Where did these ladies get the equipment, supplies, and knowledge to set up TPN (the IV nutrition they had him on at the end)? It’s not like they could’ve gone to the hospital to get it since they hacked him up.
Speaking of hacking him up, how did he not die from having all four limbs chopped off like that, especially in a home setting with no blood transfusions? And where did the massive gash to his left shoulder go from the last strike Lizzy made with the cleaver?
What happened to all of the other students who were studying there? Wouldn’t they have noticed the absence of all their teachers, plus the blood and bodies that would’ve been everywhere?
I’ll stop there, but this was just there tip of the iceberg of things wrong with this movie. I enjoyed some aspects of it and am usually able to suspend my disbelief long enough to enjoy a movie. This one was just so flawed that the title “The Perfection” was ironic!

The true horror is that no one can be perfect, but people think they are and judge people for not being fake and ugly on the inside.
I loved this movie. Sure, there are holes to poke, but taken as is, the explanations function and add up to a wild ride.
Yes. A first movie in years that suprised me (I usually guess the plot long before a movie ends). It was original.mix of many things, and the buss scene was very well built up. You could really feel the horror of feeling that bad in being stuck in the middle.of nowhere.

It's perfectly okay that you didn't like it. Personally i loved it, but it doesn't seem like you quite understood the meaning of that ending. The reason that the scene of them playing together was written like that was because it was meant to be a metaphor for the fact that they completed each other.

This is a very like or hate movie, in my opinion I loved it because it covered many topics and the performance of Alison is just perfect

(the viewer had NO idea where it was going...), definitely!!! I thought it was one of the better Netflix movies, and I’m surprised so many people disliked it.

This was one of the best mind breaking and phycological horror experiences.

It’s mostly the music that made it so good for me. Very unsettling stuff.
I understand why you would feel that way. After thinking about it it’s pretty good in the early stages but later it kind of dies.
Adding "the sweetest perfection" by depeche mode to the soundtrack might have helped.

Totally agree with FF. This one is tonally all over the place. The motive is clear but the execution is in a word, ridiculous. I'll give the flick this . Visually, it looks pretty good.
