But the children never hurt anybody. Eli seemed like a pretty good kid before snapping. The church came for him first, they made him into the evil they saw him as.
Religion and a one-sided view of things usually does that. People aren't born evil. They're created through harsh conditions caused by unfortunate circumstances. Eli is probably still a good kid even after the incident because he can finally live a normal life. Sure he has powers and can kill people with ease, but that doesn't mean he'll do it for fun.

I think it's because their parents were super religious, though. They do say Religion is a cult, right? And cults are "brainwashed" (I think Eli said that in the movie too). I mean, she became hard core religious ... I don't think she was looking to use his powers for good -- I think she became manipulated from step dad to "cure" him. Wasn't until the end of the movie where her "brainwash" is gone and she accepted what she did and who Eli is, you know?
The infidelity was foreshadowed by the way he emphasized “faithful” when he said he was a faithful man. The dialogue was pretty sharp at several points, notably, “Do you know what happened to the little boy who asked questions?”, and he replied very confused, “He got answers?”
I love when people use upside-down crosses as a demonic symbol but it's actually a symbol of humility Since saint Peter requested to be crucified upside down since he felt he wasn't worthy to die upright
Sorta it's not that he didn't feel worthy to be put right side up, it's that he didn't feel worthy to put up like Christ. The upside down cross does mean "not Christ" in that way which is what lead to the people assuming it's a devil's sign Really though if anything people associating it in this way makes it mean that. Also Thorn leaving Eli to finally turn by leaving him in the basement was her downfall. Once he finally got his powers from breathing fresh air it was too late.
Marinus van Zyl I figured she left him down there because he was surrounded by a bunch of holy objects (crosses, etc), which would have stopped his powers from manifesting before she could finish the exorcism.
I like how they build up the twist in this film. Infact they actually foreshadow the twist early in the movie and the way they do it is a little more subtle like you blink and you miss it. The scene of course I'm talking about is when Eli is spotted by those guys hanging outside a trailer across from the motel; if you noticed the dog was barking now one might think the dog is just being a dog and barking at strangers however animals can sense and see things humans can't. Of course I could be wrong.
There is one reason why Satan hasn't let his son the Antichrist roam the Earth and that reason is because he made a terrible monster. Those monsters are the ones who like to prey on young children

The more I think about it, the more brilliant the script becomes. The Children are NOT allowed to help each other as Hayley says. The Ghost Children are not only disobeying a direct order from their father but have lingered on this Earth to do so. It is entirely possible that the ritual the nuns performed traps the spirits of the children. However we never see them directly attack the nuns. Their main focus was saving Eli. One explanation is that the injunctive to help still binds them to some degree. Thus their antics are in theory a haunting, in practice a means by which they can deliver enough clues to save their erstwhile siblings. The fact that they know the code to open the office implies that at least one of them got that far. They knew the truth of the treatment and who the staff were. How many children died because their parents betrayed them? Even through all that rage and grief, they were still trying to do something positive rather than wreaking havoc among their killers. A simple explanation for that is that they could not do so; their ability to manifest and affect the physical world is contingent on the powers of one of the Children being in their midst not unlike the spirits in the Shining. Until Eli arrived, they were impotently awaiting their chance to make sure what happened to them does not happen to another.
so, was he ever evil in the movie? because, last i check, the only ones doing evil things were the nuns and his "father". in a way, they did more to make him into a devil child than he himself wanted to. which is kinda how it goes, by forcing hardcore religious belives down someone's throat, you not only push them away, but also makes them really against it.

I think it's evident that Eli's mother had actual sex with the devil to get impregnated, because in one of her discussions with Paul, he ends up their first argument with him throwing it in her face that he was always "faithful" in a snide manner, so it is tacitly implied that she cheated on Paul to get pregnant. Also, Haley apparently knows the Devil's physical location that can be reached by merely driving to the place, so the Devil isn't just an abstract entity, confirming that he has an anthropomorphic form for the... deeds of the flesh. *shy*
Well that just means that you've racked up more rewards in heaven brother.:-) I was in the same boat, plus I'm black and was shirty growing up and live in a prominently white Mormon neighborhood where everyone assumed I was the bad trouble maker if I ever once stood up for myself, which meant I had to sit there and take it all cause asking the adults for help just lead to them saying maybe it's my fault and I'm making myself an easy target, so when I prove them wrong and stand up for myself they all punish me and say I'm aggressive and a little hooligan even though I was much smaller than every one in my grade as well as being younger cause my birthday is in the summer. So I was always bullied for that, being short and black, being sick with an auto immune disease that every kid said that I was faking sick each time there was a substitute, which always passed me off cause I can't take my eyes swelling turning red and my joints expanding from flare ups. And on top of that I have a severe case of Tourette's Syndrome so that was just open field day for kids to laugh at me for and I had the worst case of OCD ever documented all the way until I was 19. I was diagnosed when I was 10 even though I had symptoms from age 2. Every teacher I ever had said that I was by far the hardest working and most kind hearted student/person they ever met and that if they had just a few more students like me, it would be an absolute joy for them to teach, instead of a job that kids had caused it to become. So I don't know about you, but I've cried MANY tears in my life and doggone it I WANT THEM ALL BACK! :-P :-) lol anyways, sorry for this long message, I just felt the need to share it with you cause you seem to have gone through at least some of what I have in life, but I'm still here and I'm forever gonna be standing and fighting, and I got you do the same, come what may! But the children never hurt anybody. Eli seemed like a pretty good kid before snapping. The church came for him first, they made him into the evil they saw him as.
Basically
Religion and a one-sided view of things usually does that. People aren't born evil. They're created through harsh conditions caused by unfortunate circumstances. Eli is probably still a good kid even after the incident because he can finally live a normal life. Sure he has powers and can kill people with ease, but that doesn't mean he'll do it for fun.
Lol y'all are delusional. The children never hurt anybody YET. But they couldn't even enjoy the sun because light hurt them since they were born from pure darkness. These kids are SATANS kids. Satan is literally the embodiment of chaos and evil lmao
@@julianramirez5076 That doesn't mean they were actually going to hurt people. If Eli was cured he might've been a pretty good person but as you said theg are made of darkness and you cant cure that. So he only didn't attack anyone cause he likely hadn't been exposed to that yet.
@@trialerrorsharer9398 Well actually they were trying to exorcise the devil from the kids. You don't know what could have been cured here because perhaps their research needed more resources but I don't think this is an example of religion doing something wrong. Ruka Nogi kinda like brightburn

I love when people use upside-down crosses as a demonic symbol but it's actually a symbol of humility
Since saint Peter requested to be crucified upside down since he felt he wasn't worthy to die upright

@@finaudawai572 Probably just from people trying to be edgy. Cultural osmosis is a powerful thing.
Sorta it's not that he didn't feel worthy to be put right side up, it's that he didn't feel worthy to put up like Christ.

Also Thorn leaving Eli to finally turn by leaving him in the basement was her downfall. Once he finally got his powers from breathing fresh air it was too late.
Wonder if that was because he finally had access to the "evil" of the world without any barrier, i.e. he got a boost of power without any obstacle?

@@yoigso How was it confusing when they explained it all after the big twist?
The bilboarad says 173 - truth. And Eli wakes up to investigate at 1:37 in the morning, for the 317.
What?

PLEASE EXPLAIN "wounds" 2019 Netflix original - psychological thriller very tense and vague , loved the film but didn't understand it
My take is its related to cthulu mythos
That’s from Hulu...
@@practicalgamer4991 its on Netflix too bruv.
The ending fucked me up!!
You’re not supposed to understand psychological thrillers
The second I heard "stem cell programed virus" I was like yup this is all bullshit. I sounds like someone making shit up on the spot because they forgot to do their bio presentation.
Its just a movie for gods sake
No, but it's actually a type of gene therapy. I don't have any examples right now, but I've seen things like this when I was studying immunology at university. I also had to pause the movie to look up the disease because it sounded like bs, but turns out they got it right, it's a real disease called Omenn syndrome.
@@brunaogusku6294 I mean it's based on both crispr and stem cell replacement thearpy. Crispr alters genes to make them functional and is based on virus DNA but isn't a virus. Stem cell replacement is a whole different thing. Stem cells are just cells that haven't decided what they wanna be when they grow up. That's why they're so useful is issue regrowth. They just kinda mashed to two together
@danger mushroom I think it's better if it was intentional and this nun knew fuck all about medicine. She just googled "good medical science words"
@@Howdy_Its_Ash Lmao it would be so funny if they showed her googling xD 😂😂

That had to be intentional.
I also love how Eli’s name when rearranged can spell lie..a huge plot point in the movie. Just think that’s a really cool little thing the movie makers threw in there
Great movie 💕
This channel gives me the things I never knew I wanted in life.
I could like literally watch a movie a thousand times but when he tells it its like the first time; i just enjoy it
Wow it's one of the few times I've actually seen the movie before seeing the ending explain hahahaha
Never doing it again 😑
Telling a child that there adopted is alot less awkward then telling them they are the offspring of satan
The sequel should be called ELII
Eli 1??? You drunk bruh?
You mean Elie right?
Lol, if video stores were still around, it'd go straight to the B movie section. One of THOSE movies.
Or it should be called (Lie 2 me)
I'm on Eli's side. Who's to say he would have turned evil if they dud put him through this.
Exactly. It's the nature versus nurture argument again for sure.
Ladylocs Asia , ya. I am agreeing
It's a simple case of brigthburn syndrome
Wait, is Eli evil now? He legit only killed the bunch of people who were trying to kill him. He didn't go on a rampage or anything.
@@kaiz1845 Of course he's evil he killed people and he is the devil's son.
It's funny how there are people taking this comment seriously.
@@eelio8469 well what can i say? people do agree that evil isnt just a name, you cant say "he is the devil" and use it as an excuse to do what you are fighting against...
The nuns and dad were way creepier and scarier I would hang out with him the child of Satan instead
@Troll uNeed ?
@Dark Shadow Storm thing is, it would be one thing if they just wanted to kill him. but that's not it. it felt more like they wanted to control him instead.
The nun picture looks like they took someone else's picture and then used the snapchat clip feature to put other people's faces on them.

This movie is a great example of "The ends don't justify the means" no one is born evil, in their journey to destroy evil they may as well have created it, i feel he was justified in killing the doctors, it was mostly self defense.

*shy*
I was bullied in highschool for having an autoimmune disease and even almost died
LaTrickster - I hate that you had to deal with that. Most humans are horrible beings.
Then I got diagnosed with the worst case documented in Las Vegas and Tulane University in Louisiana, the 2 hospitals I went to for brain surgery, when I was 15. Which is the same age I received the very first surgery to treat both OCD and Tourette's Syndrome on earth. That still didn't stop @szholes from bullying me, even with a giant scar in my head and a deep brain stimulator probe in my brain for treating my disorders. And I eventually had to leave School and settle for getting a GED at age 16 in 11th grade due to the stress even though the surgery allowed me to go back to school, cause I couldn't attend it in 10th grade, I went back for only half a year in 11th and then had to leave by December cause it was just too much and I was too sick to keep going. Every teacher I ever had said that I was by far the hardest working and most kind hearted student/person they ever met and that if they had just a few more students like me, it would be an absolute joy for them to teach, instead of a job that kids had caused it to become. So at least I made a difference in some teachers and staff members lives by always smiling and keeping strong. Due to my RPS Relapsing Polychondritis Syndrome(my auto immune disease, I've been clinically pronounced dead 9 times in my life, once even passed away in my own father's arms, but he some how revived me :-) the doctors sus my heart had stopped for 10 seconds and they don't know how I am still here, but I know that it's because I never give up and never stop fighting. So no matter what has happened to you I want YOU to keep STRONG and keep FIGHTING! Cause those kids don't deserve to steal your joy, and you've gone through FAR too much to allow those jerks to add any stress to your life. I hope and pray that you get well and are completely healed and that you some day conquer the world as a true fighter, and on that day, I will see you at the top! Cause that's where I'm headed, no matter what, I've endured far too much to be any where else.:-) and I've done so with no complaints AND with a smile on my face. So I know my rewards in heaven are stacked SUPER HIGH cause I didn't deserve to have to go through what I went through and didn't cause the problems I have in life, yet I endured them anyhow, and as long as you do that every thing you go through will be returned to you 100 fold in the end, AND more importantly the Lord PROMISED that every tear you have cried he has caught, and collected and will return to you in full measure when you get there. Be blessed brother/sister (lol sorry I can't tell what you are :p) and as aforementioned, I'll see you at the TOP! :-D

Y.. U think the church is the good one? Not even in real life bro. Think about child abuse, the witch hunts, the cross wars... Being the lord of lies seems quiet harmless to me in comparison
@@andethidialbubabibub3261 stop there, I never said church was good, it's just that in the vast majority of media the church is considered good and you rarely see the devil as good. Dont go assuming something and then try to lecture someone about it
@@andethidialbubabibub3261 Bro, do your research, firsthand. The Church is responsible for the vast majority of knowledge we now have today, and is one of the leading sources of goodwill out there.
Public schools have far more counts of child abuse, even Jewish synagogues. Unfortunately, it's a terrible thing that happens all over. Sadly, no one organization is exempt.
What the movie got quite right is that the devil makes everything very easy. He will promise you things and beguile you into his clutches, making a box from which you can never escape. Like a neverending nightmare.
Make no mistake, he wants you to think he's the good guy.
Knowlegde? Was that why there was a period called the Dark Age? Where the church hoard all the knowledge for themselves and cherry-picked which can be spread around? How many times did the church persecuted and punished brilliant thinker and inventor of their time and called it blasphemy? And for leading sources of goodwill is highly debatable.
Lol, I watched a lot of the show, Lucifer, and really see it all differently.
