The #1 tip I can offer is: drive your 4runner for a summer before coughing up a bunch of $$ in mods. You may realize you don't actually want or need half of them after a few months with the vehicle. After a tire upgrade to light AT tires, I was amazed at how capable and comfortable the vehicle is in stock form.

Only things I have done was replace the incandescent interior lights with an LED light kit for $30. Huge difference in my daily drive. Also got the cargo net for the rear hatch. Love it for trips to store. Haven't really done much more since. That was 3 years ago. I had considered LED head light bulb replacements but these are just fine.

So glad you are able to inform the rest of us who have yet to get these mods. I watched you videos on the pedal commander with complete skepticism and really focused on how my 2013 Trail drives and accelerates. I never had any problems and i love the response from the OEM throttle setup since i try to drive conservatively to get peak mpg. So glad you informed us of glitches with the pedal commander and put my decision to buy one to sleep for good. Love the videos, sending thanks from Sacramento, CA!

100% agree on the TRD cat back exhaust. My 2021 TRD ORP came from the factory with a TRD exhaust. I commute about 70 miles a day also, 1 week into owning the truck I couldn't take the drone anymore...drove me crazy. I traded it for a stock exhaust with a member on one of the 4Runner forums. The most impactful mod for me was changing out the 4 stock shocks for Bilstein 5100's - greatly improved daily drivability. No more nose dives and better control of body roll.

Definitely a smart move to get rid of the PC. A number of people have reported the same issue.
One thing I did was add a RCI aluminum transmission skid so that I could add their Catalytic Converter guards to keep people from stealing the cats and ruining my exhaust. Getting replacement cats can take months, think 8 to 10. I also installed a RCI gas tank skid (steel) to prevent people from draining my tank, and yes, I added a locking gas cap. Thanks for the tips!

Keeping our 4runner TRDOR pretty basic, but a few standout upgrades... Husky X-act floor liners, far superior to OEM. Canvasback seatback protection, top notch. Bilstein 5100 shocks set to .75inch level really tighten up the handling and looks, and ditched the stock tires for General Grabber ATX for a beefier look and snow rated. My favorite vehicle I've ever owned. Great channel, keep it up!

Personal favorite most useful mods/upgrades I've done: Weathertech floor matts hands down, Canvasback rear covers for cargo area and rear seatbacks, really clutch protecting the cargo area( I mostly keep seats down for gear storage), lastly just a cheap tray insert for console storage. I'm pretty spoiled with the TRD Pro which is just amazing straight off the lot.

Your advice on the TRD Pro exhaust is great, my 4Runner came with it so I don't know how stock sounds. I will say that who ever sits in the rear passenger side gets the noise the worst. However I did sleep on a road trip on that side just fine, but maybe I just got accustomed to it.

Agree with many, this truck is in the 5th generation and is pretty darn good the way it is. Spend money that truly protects the vehicle or you. The TRD skid plate is great and worth the money. Raptor lights look great, increase safety, are easy to install and are fairly inexpensive. If you are a looking for a roof top rack and want to put heavy loads on top. Go with a 4 point connection with an additional 2 points resting on the front of the roof to distribute weight. Take the original rack off. Roof top tents should be mounted to a 6 point rack. We installed a Gobi, however they are expensive and had to wait 6 months to get one.

Idk...I've been driving my Pedal Commander for about 2 years (60,000 miles) in my 2022 4Runner TRD Pro now, extensively on and off-road, and never had any problems with it. If not for the Pedal Commander I would have sold the 4Runner already because how slow and lazy the throttle response feels. Now, I came from a Ford Raptor before buying the 4Runner so the instant throttle response is important to me. I have mine in City +1 and it's been nothing but a dream. Makes the 4Runner feels more like a modern SUV.
As for the TRD Pro exhaust, it's a constant love and hate affair lol. I love it when cruising in town at 25-40 mph because it sounds so good, but it can be pretty annoying on the highway. I thought about swapping it out with a regular exhaust so many times but never pulled the trigger haha. Oh well it is what it is.

But other times I enjoy the throaty sound when tanking off from stops. Something soothing to me about hearing it’s sound while completely controlling the road in the snow and crappy road conditions. Damn near every new product I buy online is immediately followed up by the company begging me to click on a link and post a review. In some cases I've received these emails before the product arrived or I had it out of the box. Recommending a product before you've used it for a while so you can assess its functionality and reliability is worthless, unless you state that your review is limited to things like ease of installation and looks.

Maybe an aftermarket skid plate with service holes (CBI, C4 Fab, RIVAL, for example) might be better. I will have to stop here another minute.
