Perfect video, thanks! Most videos for "first mods" or "cheap mods" are all suspension, metal bumpers, etc mods that aren't cheap, and also not necessary for 99.9% of drivers. Snorkel in the dry areas is very useful not for water crossing but against dust and sand. Especially when going by a few cars in the row and using a Cyclone on top of snorkel. It significantly helps keep air filter much clearer. 😉
That is correct. If your rig gets in the water that deep as to cover almost entirely or most of the engine components, then there is no snorkel in the world that would save you from a disaster. You may want to check the part number for the Left Rav4 Blind Spot heated mirror. When you click on the links there is a fairly large price difference between the left and right. I checked my comment from 6 months ago on your mirror install video and looks like the part number you have listed for the left mirror needs adjusting. I also double checked the part numbers on the boxes the mirrors came in - Part number 87961-0R220 for Left and 87931-0R210 for right
I bought the blind side mirrors listed in your description for the RAV4, but the left side one does not have the defrosters built in (87961-0R210) only the right side has the defroster (87931-0R210). @@VikingsGarage You can click on my ID or this link... ua-cam.com/channels/hb38m6f-uV_DL-LkGiD3NA.html I had a vehicle that closely resembles the 4Runner in philosophy/design... I can't remember the year off hand, but it was an Isuzu Rodeo: body on frame, V6, ind. front & solid rear axle, etc... I really enjoyed that truck and it never left me standing on the side of the road. As far as it's similarity to the 4Runner, you'd be able to speak to that better then me.
That’s all good stuff. I’m going to go with the Greenlane off road aluminum sliders. My current ones have turned to rust just since the snow and salt have been out. I bought them in July. By 2nd week of nov they were full of rust. Aluminum may not be as strong but it’s lighter and won’t rust.
I wanted to comment on the rock sliders that you discuss near the end of the video. I've never been a fan especially if they are bulky enough to lower the contact point of the center of the truck. But, my wife and I are getting older... she's a shorty with lower back problems while I'm 6 foot but I've had 6 spine surgeries, four lower L4-L6, so I plan to get the electronic fold down type. They tuck up nice and clean when not in use and lower down and outward to make getting in and out considerably easier. Not for everybody but they will be a great addition for us.
The cargo net came with my 21 T4R ORP I bought a couple of months ago and I absolutely love it!!! Definitely worth having!! My truck has the XP predator package and therefore has the predator steps. For one, I’m 6’2” and don’t need a step, but my main issue is it’s mounted to the body and not the frame. So if you hit them or a car hits them, you’re going to have more damage than if you had sliders that mounted to the frame. I think these “look” ok from a side profile of the truck all together, but that’s relative and they really don’t serve a purpose unless you’re vertically challenged then you may need a step, but I’d imagine most of us don’t. PS: I’m gettin the blackout handle covers but they’re always oos!! Very popular! Last one I did was the Toyota emblem blackout cover on the steering wheel airbag / horn. Now the door handles “chrome” stands out even more since blacking out the steering wheel emblem lol
Right on!! Your absolutely right on the predator steps (hence why I removed mine) Rock sliders will Mount to the frame instead of the body, way safer and smarter. I’m all about function and actual purpose. Rock sliders are going to be a thing here soon, or I should say eventually.
We do a lot of night wheeling So plenty of light was priority, then decent tires and a lower end lift kit. Bought wheels primarily for looks lol other than that, done modding. I’ve done maintenance myself too and I know how long our 4Runner will last with me doing the fluid changes and such.
Metal oil filter cap/holder in place of the stock plastic which is prone to cracking. Dealership has a time trying to keep plastic cap/holder oil filter in stock due to the amount cracking. Far cheaper to replace with aluminum cap/holder v an engine starved of oil
I just purchase those seat jacks because of the video. I just got my ORP and I love the seats but being 6’3 I knew there was something off because my back was getting sore after three hours of driving. And I think more tilt in the seat and leg support is exactly it! Great vid!
My current mods.... AVS in channel rain guards, center console tray, black plastic valve stem caps, license plate screw stainless, black emblem overlays, LED for all interior, puddle lights, and reverse light, cargo net, had a body shop paint my wheels and running boards black, and TRD Pro shift knob. Next mods for me might be to do the LED sequential turn signals for the mirrors only, and maybe the black exhaust tip. Thanks for all you do.

I was thinking of installing a snorkel because I drive on a lot of dirt roads. A snorkel minimizes the amount of dirt hitting my filter. Why are car washes a problem? Real overlanders don't use a car wash. They use mud. A car wash is for those who own a Limited (or the TRD Faux). If I'm faced with going through water that deep, requiring a snorkel, I'll look for another way around. The thermal differential between cold water (especially this time of year) and a hot engine could lead to disaster. Also, if you're going to go through water, you need a way to turn your radiator fan off while submerged. Damage will most likely result to the fan if you don't turn it off.
Update since last time I told you about this but I ended up removing my pedal commander lol. Sent it back. Started acting weird and pedal too sensitive.
For the 4Runner; if mine has the blind spot mirror system but not the lights for the turn indicator. Does Toyota wires all vehicles the same and I have it wired into my 4Runner and just need to put the lights?
I really like your channel, it gives me a lot of ideas for my 4runner, now I'm thinking about changing the tires, but I wanted to ask you how it would affect the performance if I install 285/70R17, would I have to do some modification to adjust the deviation in speed indicator?
Any thoughts or suggestions about frame mounted REAR recovery points ( and not a trailer mounted recovery point )? Also, any thoughts about clearance of the passenger side REAR frame mounted point and the exhaust pipe on a 15 sr5 ?
it won’t clear your exhaust also those are not for recovery. They are called towing eyelids, used only to strap the vehicle down to a flat bed. i used the Trailer mounted recovery point. Much stronger point 👍🏻
I am referring to something like Iconic Fabrication's "TRP" rear recovery points that bolt directly on to the rear frame. There are already mounting bolt holes in the frame. I do not think they are "towing eyelets" based on their discription. Do you know of anybody who makes true rear frame mounted recovery points?@@VikingsGarage
I vouch for the predator steps. They have saved rocks and sticks jumping up and hitting the lower part of my door panels so many times. Don't even have to worry when I hear a solid "thunk". Most people dont trail these super hard so I doubt it is worth taking them off for rock sliders. I really want a snorkel on my 2022. It improves air quality so much in the amount of dust I am in. I just don't want to do it because it would be super invasive. Kinda want a bull bar, but will eventually get a slimline bumper probably. I just received my set of Meso Customs door handle covers. I ordered them in June from Cali Raised Offroad. It just took forever to get because they were on backorder. Good luck. They fit good, but you can tell the door handles have a little added resistance or wonkiness. I will get the blackout hoodscoop soon, to go with the vinyl I have over the fake hood scoop (helps with sun glare). I should have got the blackout hoodscoop first, because I will have a small gap of paint, but no one will ever see it so whatever. Biggest project is converting my mirrors to the premium ones, where you get turn signals and whatnot. Will get a mirror that has better blindspot views and an integrated turn signal. I probably need to do a build video when I get my suspension done.
🤔 i don’t know why but i was expecting actual do’s and don’ts, because of either warranty voids, messing something up, or mods that’ll actually improve your 4Runner. But it seems these are all just personal likes. I don’t like chrome bull bars, but I’m sure thousands of people do, and you can’t argue that they do add protection. I’ve gotten rear ended before, and their truck only had a small dent on chrome bull bar. Oh well, it’s the Internet and everyone can share their opinion 😏
What do you recommend for the weird slots in the center below the radio? Like there’s a small rectangle / square-ish entry and another one that don’t seem functional I feel like if you’re driving it’ll just slide out. I also just saw those door handles cover the Matt black were sold out
@VikingsGarage would you be able to present installation of the Mirrors with the blind spot, I am guessing on new 4runner? Also you didnt mention if these mirrors will fit any 5th gen 4runners. I got SR5 version with Navigation so would Raw4 mirrors work on this type of 4runner? Thanks
I have used the oil sprayed air filters and admit I am not a fan. My 4Runner came equipped w/ a Mass Air Flow Sensor which is expensive to replace as an OEM. Let me tell u it is not a good experience. The oil can escape the air filter and coat the sensor. Over time it will react w/ the sensor and send mixed signals to the computer board - not fun. Even after cleaning it still remained a problem until a 2nd attempt. Paper filters every 10k miles
My center caps look exactly the same on my 2020 Venture. I live very close to you and I'd love to meet up with another 4runner enthusiast. If you are interested in meeting up, contact me. We can compare mods!
Be careful with the "Rocksliders". They are only considered true rocksliders if they are bolted or welded directly to your frame. The picture first shown was of a pair of steps that looked like sliders, but were the ones you bolt to the body of the vehicle. Anything bolted to the body should NEVER be used as a true rockslider when it comes to wheeling or lifting the SUV from. Just pay attention and know what you want, I'm sure those steps first displayed were made to look cosmetically like actual rocksliders, but they have no practical function compared to actually rocksliders other than being a step for occupants.
The center cap issue on your bronze wheels is due to the fact that you don't have a real TRD Pro! This doesn't happen with real TRD Pros. It's a thing that Toyota doesn't discuss. :))
No way you should pay that much to put your seat up. I dont have any issue with the 4 runner seat but I did woth my tacoma and I just put a spacer and longer bolt. Couple bucks at lowes, 5 years no issues. Saw it on youtube. 👍
Unfortunately, my truck came with the "Predator" (laugh every time I read that) steps. They scraped several times off-rad, you lose ground clearance, and they do nothing to protect the truck - totally useless IMO. Replaces them with Westcott sliders.
I can't stop thinking that he sounds like Christopher Walken.
😂 You crack me up!
Haha now I can’t unhear it-soo true
You know the worst part, I’m not even trying to imitate him. And I personally don’t hear it.
But my wife laughs about it and agrees 💯
Sounds kinda Cajun creole to me

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Smart!!
For the 4Runner; if mine has the blind spot mirror system but not the lights for the turn indicator. Does Toyota wires all vehicles the same and I have it wired into my 4Runner and just need to put the lights?
Easiest answer is NO. If your vehicle doesn’t not have blind spot monitor it is not wired for it.
I really like your channel, it gives me a lot of ideas for my 4runner, now I'm thinking about changing the tires, but I wanted to ask you how it would affect the performance if I install 285/70R17, would I have to do some modification to adjust the deviation in speed indicator?
No worries there, you’ll be fine.
@user-nv7sj3xh1i I do not know. 🤷🏼♂️
Q. Why is New Jersey called the Garden State?
A. Because Petro-Chemical Refinery State wouldn’t fit on the license plates. I’m fm 14c NJTP.
😂👍🏻
Are those cargo storage space covers 3D printed?
O agreed 👍 good video brother I have my 2022 sr5 premium black out 4x4 7 seats love it 😀
That’s awesome!!
Sweet!! Thank you for sharing! I heard about the Meso covers, I just can’t stand chrome. 🤣🤣
Where can you find the storage box covers? Great idea!!
It sure is, check it out:

@@VikingsGarage thanks!! Love your channel!!
@jamesmessina4505 🙏🏻
Thx for the vids need a recommendation on switches… switch pros or SPOD bantam x
Your welcome!! 👍🏻
On the switches, I’m not entirely familiar. Sorry!!
What do you recommend for the weird slots in the center below the radio? Like there’s a small rectangle / square-ish entry and another one that don’t seem functional I feel like if you’re driving it’ll just slide out. I also just saw those door handles cover the Matt black were sold out
Yeah those handle covers sell quick.
I place my phone on the bottom slot. There’s 3D printed compartments for the top slot. Look it up
@@VikingsGarage thank you so much that’s pretty cool someone had that idea
👍🏻
Anybody else hear the Christopher Walken cadence the Viking has going on here?
Lol, your like the 4th person to compare me to Mr. Christopher Walken . 🤣🤣
I thought this the first video I watched of him.
My wife keeps asking me to do… the Three little piggies skid 🤣🤣
(She agrees.)
Snorkel is not for submerging it’s for dust in convoys.
Yes
PS, I love your videos
Thank you! 🤘🏻
Thanks
It will work on your 4runner, it will not work on newer models with blind spot monitors.
Great video.
Thank you 🙏🏻
I can’t find that black hood scoop anywhere
That’s odd.
After listening to you here's a word from the USA fir you B.O.H.I.C.A. Been over here it comes again 😵💫🇺🇸
Nice!
My center caps look exactly the same on my 2020 Venture. I live very close to you and I'd love to meet up with another 4runner enthusiast. If you are interested in meeting up, contact me. We can compare mods!
Sure thing. I’m sure we can figure something out. DM on Instagram.
(best way to reach me)
Learn to set your mirrors correctly and you don’t need a blind spot mirror.
Thank you for sharing your info. I did know some of it, although I’m clearly not an avid off-road goer.
Cool
Thank you!
The center cap issue on your bronze wheels is due to the fact that you don't have a real TRD Pro! This doesn't happen with real TRD Pros. It's a thing that Toyota doesn't discuss. :))
we got a funny guy!
No way you should pay that much to put your seat up. I dont have any issue with the 4 runner seat but I did woth my tacoma and I just put a spacer and longer bolt. Couple bucks at lowes, 5 years no issues. Saw it on youtube. 👍
Right on!!
It is bit pricey.
The Snorkool … mockery incoming
Cool secrets. 😮😮😮
Thank you! Loads of info on your 4Runner in here 😉
Steel valve caps, fused to the aluminum stem, not metal to metal
You want to dispute the fact that aluminum is a metal ?? 🤔
… and so it begins!
Common joe think’s aluminum not a metal, they disregard your comment , and use caps anyways
2023 has built in bulbs that cant be changed on the fog lights :{
Unfortunately 🤷🏼♂️

I have an off road 2024 and I have bought 2 times the 9005 H3 and they do not work, I do not know how to modify them or where to buy them.
Are these LED’s ?? For the high beams??
@@VikingsGarage yes, led for high beams
@carlosandrade4861 flip the connector the other way, LEDs are polarized.
Chrome looks good. Millennials and Gen Zers don't like chrome....😥
👍
Unfortunately, my truck came with the "Predator" (laugh every time I read that) steps. They scraped several times off-rad, you lose ground clearance, and they do nothing to protect the truck - totally useless IMO. Replaces them with Westcott sliders.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you for sharing, I appreciate you watching!!
Happy thanksgiving to you and your loved ones!!
