Contrary to what many of my own fellow Gen-X believe, this is not a romantic but but a song from the point of view of an obsessive controlling possessive parter or a stalker. The lyrics are from the perspective of a sick mind. Sting himself gets upset when people call this a romantic song to his face.
This wasn’t just a song. It became a global phenomenon and remains the most played song in history - more so than any hip hop track by any of todays so called A List artists few if any of who have ever had an album which stayed at the top of the Billboard album charts for 4 Months!
Dude, during the peak of MTV and VH1, there were some acts who spent millions on elaborate videos/short films for their songs. Michael jackson was known for that. Hell, even Guns and Roses went all out on November Rain. It's been done well before your gen, believe me.
Dude, she's not just a pretty face. But you can't even hear her when she speaks. This song in particular is one where most women have very strong feelings but you will never know becase you are not listening to her.
Written by Sting. Produced by The Police + Hugh Padghem. 1983. Sting: lead vocal, bass, synthesizers. Andy Summers: guitar, piano. Stewart Copeland: drums. The Police: backing vocals. Godley + Creme: direction of the video. Andy graduated from CSU Northridge in 1972. Stewart is the only American. 🇺🇲 Sting + Andy are British. 🇬🇧 The Police were in The Bahamas. Sting + Stewart Copeland were constantly arguing + laying temper tantrums. The infighting was so bad that Andy Summers left the house to look for help. Luckily, the late George Martin, producer of The Beatles, was nearby. Andy talked to George. His advice was relayed to Andy. Then, Andy returned. Sting + Stew stopped their bickering for the meantime. Meanwhile, Spandau Ballet was working on their album True on another side of the island! 😃 SB was on the rise! 🤯 1 year later, Sting met Spandau Ballet at the Band Aid recording session, London, UK. 🇬🇧 Yet, The Police was slowly breaking up. 😖😖😖 Sting + Stew could not even agree on how to play Every Breath You Take. 😖 This was a song on the final full studio album. Information c/o Andy Summers: I was at his book signing! 😃 Do not think of EBYT as only a stalker song: think of it as a break up of The Police + wishing the band was like it was on their 1st album. Sample. Puff Daddy sampled this. He made his rap into a tribute of Biggie Smalls. Guest singer is Faith Evans, widow of Biggie. RIP Biggie, Sir George Martin. Suggested next Police video: Synchronicity 2. 🎸🥁👨🎤🎸🎹 🇬🇧🇺🇲
Your parents did not introduce you to real music before the computerization of the sector and its qualitative death? My daughter is 25 years old and we made ourselves, my wife and I, an additional educational duty to introduce her to the music made by instruments and people who could sing without autotunes etc.
Unfortunate there is so much background noise there. You 2 are obviously new at this. There is a learning curve and you both are off to a good start. Keep working and watch some other reactors. Millie Mossiae is pretty good one to emulate. Keep up the good work. Also, check out the dog begging memes to a parody to this song. It's hilarious. "Every breath you take. Every bite you make..." or something like that.
I notice that you did not engage at all with the song/video. What you were reacting to was a video, supposedly typical of the period, for a song that you already loved, for some unknown reason, which became a springboard for some generalized contrasts with modern music videos. This particular song with this particular video was simply incidental to your real interest and wasn't integral to what you were doing. I guess I was expecting one thing and got something a little different. Not better or worse, just different.
I'm always fascinated when people thing it's a romantic song. Like what?

That's not a cello, it's a stand-up bass.
Gen-X'er here. Watching your girl fall madly in love with Sting as the video goes on. Just like all us Gen-X kids did back in the day. Ha!

I call this The Stalkers Song. I dare you to read the lyrics without the music and not be disturbed by them.
The drums at the end are stunning
Fun fact; this song is actually about big brother but was made more "stalkerish" so as not to freak people out.
It’s actually a Stand Up Bass
Good reaction. Interesting perspective
the stalker song
Your parent are definitely proud
Your parents did not introduce you to real music before the computerization of the sector and its qualitative death? When you make videos, try to eliminate the background noise before recording
don,t apologise, don,t complain and never explain
A stand up base not a cello
You just might be right about K-POP
fur sure, at least in this modern time.
Stand-up Bass.

It would have been good if we could have heard the song instead of you two wittering!
This is a reaction video lol
Odd analysis… did you hear the words? Good luck finding your niche audience.
