Is nice to finally see expat youtubers talking about another city than Medellin. Is like every expat you see goes to & only talk about Medellin. I been to Colombia many times and there’s good cities and small towns beside Medellin for example Pereira, Bucaramanga, Manizales, the rural areas between Pereira/Manizales, Ibague, Armenia, and many more. Yes you won’t get the big city vibe as Medellin and Bogota but is really nice and get to experience the genuine side of Colombia in the smaller towns and least touristic areas.
Cheers man, I agree! It's a different experience outside of the big cities.
@@WheresWes good Luck and keep up the good work showing those smallers cities.

Really appreciate these informative videos, I've watched almost everything you've made. Thanks for the knowledge to others wanting to move to Colombia bro! Much love from Australia
I like how honest and open you are in your videos, keep them coming!
I am moving from USA to Manizales next June. I am so excited.
Shoot me a dm when you arrive bro!
awesome content! I appreciate all your great work on helping ex pats like me and many others. Cheers mate!
Thanks for watching Craig, glad you enjoyed it!
Manizales is a great city, it is the most liveable city in Colombia, welcome to La Ciudad de las Puertas Abiertas!
Thanks man can't wait!
Your best video so far IMO. Great job man!
Appreciate the love Tito!
That’s a great video 👍
I completely understand your point about big cities.
Manizales seems like a great place to live.
In the future I’m considering to live there to improve my Spanish and definitely will give you a call if I decided to go there.
All the best to you 👋😊
speaking all facts brother!!! love the content keep it coming
Appreciate you man
Yoooo wes! Idk if your remember me, I follow your channel since your first vlogs in Colombia! IDK why UA-cam stopped to recommend your videos but I’m glad I’m back, I’m glad you getting bigger! Keep it up! Imma roll a joint and chill with your content, Greetings from Toronto my guy
Btw hope in the future you can checkout my hometown Bucaramanga, lovely place tho kinda hotter than Antioquia!
Yeah of course I remember you! I haven't seen you comment in a while so I'm glad that you started watching again! Bucuramanga is coming soon, I've been wanting to go for a while.
So, now I am second guessing my absolute excitement about traveling to Medellin..... I watched your earlier videos & thought you were pretty chilled about living in Medellin. But, you know what, I am actually more of a country-chillin' guy. I would LOVE to find a place to live in a small town/village... maybe with space for a couple of burros. That would be the dream!!!
check out Manizales bro I think you'll like it.
Anxious to hear about this. Your previous videos have me preparing to move to Medellin. Now I will hold until this video is out.
It's best to travel the country yourself and experience the culture of the different cities. What works/doesn't work for Wes is likely very different than what will for you or I.
Experience Bogota and Medellin, they're absolutely beautiful cities.
yeah I would definitely still come and check it out, but try to have your own opinions, the road colored glasses are a real thing.
plus everyone is different
@@WheresWes good video thank you bro. I am wrestling over where to move. I have been to Bogota, Cartagena and Medellin on business a few times just before Covid hit. I did not care for Bogota. I loved the people and night life in Cartagena and loved the weather and beautiful scenery in Medellin. I did not have an opportunity to go out in Medellin due to my work schedule when there. I suppose I need to come down and visit each city and do some serious exploring and get to true vibe on my own. Your videos have been helpful. I have a few friends in Colombia and most tell me to consider Cali or Medellin. A couple of friends live in Cartagena and that would make things easier as my Spanish is weak. Some research on the ground is needed.
Welcome to Manizales, hope you enjoy the city like us as locals. You may become one more Manizaleño soon.
Can't wait
Really enjoyed your video looking at all the appartments, hopefully you can do a video of the appt you picked at the end.looking foward to seeing all your future videos about manizales.i live in Cali.
cheers bro, thanks for watching. yeah apartment tour coming soon.
I'm just rewatching this video and its so good(like your mom). haha. That "like your mom" insert I didn't notice the first time I watched this video. haha. I've been looking into Manizales and I love the mountains surrounding Manizales. I live in Manteca Ca and for me to go ride curved roads I gotta ride like 45 mins from my house. lol. Manizales really looks amazing. I definitely want to try to go next year. My trip to Medellin this year was a little underwhelming. The Jardin botanico was awesome though, probably my favorite part of the trip. haha.
cheers bro. yeah man Medellin ain't it
Costa rica seems nice but u have kinda settled there by now. What are the best smaller cites/villages in colombia? Thx
I don't know too many unformatunately.
All these apartments in the video are better then the ones I live in in the us
Should do a video on avg cost of living in coloumbia
I'll keep that in mind, tho I've briefly talked about it in other videos
u should do a video on moving furnitures from medellin to manizales just for FYI
Hey bro I've watched your video how you moved from LA to Colombia. Insipiring shit brother
Cheers bro, thanks for watching.
Great video
Thanks bro, glad you enjoyed it.
excellent video...thanks for the insight
Thanks for watching like always bro
Lol the one question I really wanted the answer to got skipped over kind of. (How to make money) . Cool video though. I subscribed. I’ll check out the other vid you mentioned. Thanks
Cheers bro, sorry I couldn't be of more help
Great vid bro! Keep going! 💪🏽
thanks G
Can you please suggest some youtube channels for learning Colombian spanish?
Hi Wes. That one you really liked in Milan, does a co-signer need to be someone in Columbia or how does that work? Also do you remember the name of it by chance? Looks really nice
yes it has to be someone with a cedula, and unfortunately no. I just walked around looking for numbers.
Bro i feel u on unemployment... i’m doing the same exact thing you’re doing brother. Im moving in 23 days 😁
Best of luck bro
I appreciate it!
I dont want to give my tax money to poor people
Have you experienced any earthquakes Wes? I keep hearing about the dangers of earthquakes there since they're more frequent than here in LA, but I'm interested in moving to Manizales! A reply would be great thanks !
yeah they happen quite a bit but never too intense
You do have a point about the hypersexualization in Colombia, to me it's kind of hard to find good videos of Bogota because most videos are of Santa Fe and women, and to me, it doesn't show Colombia in the light that I want to see I mean everyone likes beautiful women but I feel there's a time and place for that plus I feel Colombia is more than just beautiful women and there should be more content showcase the culture and the people rather than just showing women all day long.
Very informative video 👏, Where exactly this city is located? In Antioquia?? How far from Medellín?
Watching from Boston Massachusetts.
it's 6 hours away by van or bus in Caldas.
THANK YOU BRO . I DEFINITELY WANT TO VISIT THAT PLACE
come thru my dude. Send me a dm on Instagram or something if u need directions to get to the city.
Yeah that creep cam is out of control lol
love it and i know what you mean.
I found your channel today with the video "I love Medellín" and then I found this one haha.. Anyway I still understand you, Medellín is a beautiful city but still a big and caotic with a lot of social issues. As I paisa I hope you have left with the best memories of this place. Good luck 👍
Gracias pa! No odio Medellín pero creo que no es por mi.
Salud, parce!
good job. good luck with the detox, both from L.A. and its latin twin lol. don't be too hard on your family....every family is screwed up to one extent or another.
Yeah I agree. Cheers bro
Awesome video ... I lived in Medellin some years ago. Coming back to Colombia in two weeks and have decided to look into finding a smaller 'mini-medellin' and the cities I've come up with were Ibague, Nivea, Manizales. So far, Manizales is #1 on my list. Which airport did u fly into and are they requiring COVID testing to come into Colombia (if you know). Love your video style!
I've been here for a year since before the pandemic so I can't answer unfortunately :( but definitely check out Manizales bro, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Cheers man, thanks for watching
I flew into Medellin
Hi Wes, I'm from Medellin, and I have to say that I completely agree with you when you talk about the elitism and the hyper sexualiation of everything and the fact that women are treat like objects. so, for me its kind of hard to hear that but at the same time I know its real. That's one of the reasons I left the city a couple years ago.
It's a beautiful city for sure, but the culture is getting out of hand.
Thanks for the comment.
impressive wes , the very best apartment of the bunch came 2u instead👍
God coming in clutch
Bro i’m preparing to make it to Colombia but unfortunately i need visa for Colombia, what advices you gives me ?
message me on instagram
@@WheresWes KAY BRO !!!
Unemployment from Colombia or US?
from the US
Love the videos! Could you do more videos in Spanish?
Yup yup I got some coming bro! Thanks for the love
I don't want to sound rude, but what is the update with the woman situation? Have you guys sort it out?
nope, I'm single now. taking my time to know God.
Is it hard to get a visa is renting cheap
Hey been watching your channel is so dope ! Do you have IG account? Need few advice bro! Moving to Manizale from NY! Thanks in advance 😊
Yeah bro @wesleezy, it's in the description
an apartment is about $ 1000 a month? wow...how did they get that expensive? how can a Colombian afford that?
gentrification at it's finest
I am in fort lauderdale and my studio is $ 950 a month. I am lucky. Most apartments here are $ 2000 and Miami Beach or Downtown Miami is even crazier: $ 3000 k per month. How can Colombians afford those prices? just curious. @@WheresWes
👍🏾
im from LA.... but im moving to medellin in march
I know you've been following me for a while. Let me know what you think and if you agree
@@WheresWes i will!!!!
@@WheresWes by the way. I am doing ayahuasca/yage near your city on march 13. You should join. Salmento armernia ... i think
yo I may be down for that, shoot me a message on IG with the details I may join you on that
Do you want to eventually move back to the US?
No most likely not.
@@WheresWes 😂 I’m only 16 almost 17 but when I’m old enough I think I want to leave the US too. Don’t know how my parents going to react to that 🤷🏾♂️
I could never live in colombia. You have have.................................................
Hey Wez, thanks for the content. Quick question; how are you managing staying in Colombia long term, are you on a business visa? Thanks
shoot me a msg on IG
Hey wes can you give us more info about teaching english in colombia? Is the pay good?
tbh not really. you get enough to survive but I was paid 1,000,000 cop a month, which is like $300 barely
@@WheresWes I heard teaching english online is more profitable instead of teaching in person.
find a job from the USA and try to work remotely to have a great time.
^^agreed
Damn, rent aint cheap in Colombia
Lmao what do u expect? $500 for a 2 bedroom apartment is fair in my opinion
@@WheresWes nah you are right, I don't know why, but I thought that was the price for only one room
Ahh. Rooms are like $160-300
Medellin homelessness has been growing. honestly if anyone wants to get the 3rd world country homeless experience you can just go to downtown LA or Venice beach instead.
Facts
You got a super like from me. I'm not a prude but it's becoming toxic.
This the truth bro
This vid earned a sub. "Stop over$3%#@@$^%%#... the locals"
Living in Colombian smaller cities has its good and bads. For example marketplace shows more opportunities to become into pioneer in some business. Life is more quite in small cities and agree with you about some problemas you have talked in this video. Ive been living in Medellín since November 2019 and its kind annoying that most of people are so basic, elitists and frequently there is hypersexualiation of everything.
Don´t miss understand i love Medellín so much because posses a interesting dynamic but Paisas are not nice and honey at all like most vloggers tell.
Bruh THANK U. I'm not saying I hate it either but bro, the amount of people taking issue with me talking bad about the city is ridiculous lmao.
@@WheresWes Medellineses are so so sensitive with everything about their city and ignore what things must change they only care about city´s image at most. As i Say " you can´t hide sun with just a finger. You don´t have to ask apologies; your point is understandable and reasonable , you are a begineer in businees so you have to check what place is best to settle.
I've actually seen the push back come from expats who've moved here, not natives honestly.
As a "paisa" born and raised I kinda understand you, Medellín is a big city and such as big cities it is a mix of cultures. Otherwise we still have to deal with past stigmas related to drugs, sex and hypersexualization wich is a shame for us but I dont think that most of us are basic and elitist, maybe you found the wrong ones as could happen in any other place... Greetings from a paisa and I hope you both conserve the best memory of my city.. (Im still trying to improve my english, sorry if any mistake)
@@amonzart2379 we are sensitives for the image of our city because we have had to deal with so much social problems.. Maybe the ones who had raised here would understand me.. I am the same age as you and believe me we paisas had to grow seeing a lot of bad things but we still love so much our city and we want to change the perception people has about us...
Interesting... When I lived there now that you say that I did notice that chaotic sexual energy... Although I have never been to any other place in Colombia to compare it to and coming from NY and Chicago I purposely moved to a bustling city..... Manizales sounds nice though I would like to check it out at some point
I'm glad u sensed it too.
Disagree. Medellin feels more like a village with the small town mentality. Large population but definitely not a metropolitan mentality. Think more a city in the South of USA not LA. LA is liberal, Medellin has very conservative mindset
