Just curious, what is Tim McEwan's background? I felt like hearing an Australian and American speaking at the same time. As someone who grew up in Australia, it was very confusing LOL
yknow i think movies like this expose the major flaw in Jeff Cannatas "unsullied" philosophy. I think an important part of experiencing this movie was watching the trailer, thinking about how bonkers the premise is, talking to others online about how bonkers the premise is for months, then sitting down at the theater already accepting how bonkers the premise is. I couldnt imagine "raw dogging" a movie like this lol.
Very simply, Jeff is SPOT ON! My thoughts 100% exactly. M. Night needs to stop writing his own scripts. I would so love to see him direct somebody else's GOOD script. Knock at the Cabin and After Earth do not have good scripts either. :( ....and yes, Josh Hartnett's performance is the ONLY good thing in this movie. I felt so bad for him because he was knocking it out of the park but the movie just covered him in mud.
M. Night needs to stop. That's all that needed to be said. Sixth Sense was a clever and I thought well executed thriller/horror with a great twist ending that the movie didn't NEED to have happen but made it even more memorable. Every one big twist movie he has done since then is super contrive crap. I enjoyed Signs despite that knowing it would have some overly smarmy twist, but The Village, Lady in the Water, Old...I'm sure there are more that I just haven't seen. They don't have good stories to go with their twist...like at all.

I like the movie. I know what he's trying to do here. He's trying to make a classic Hitchcock cat and mouse thriller. And for my money he succeeded. It's not a great movie but Josh Hartnett is great in it
The Movie was good up until he escapes the concert with the singer who becomes the hero and saves the trapped victim. In reality she would have been killed by this serial killer. Unfortunately the singer was the Directors daughter so killing her off would have been strange for him. Talk about conflict of interest. If there was no nepotism this could have been a classic movie. I guess it's better for M.Night to take the career of his daughter over making a great movie. Wish I had a dad like this!
Ugh stop staying "You're overthinking it." The whole point of criticism is to _think_ about something and then form an opinion. If I wanted to hear a bunch of people who haven't thought about things, I'd hang out at the mall.
You can have legitimate points of criticism AND also be overthinking it. If you don’t believe me, I myself am an example as is my psychiatrically complicated close friend. I frustrate people to no end when discussing a movie
OK, Jeff knows what's up! This movie was just plain bad. Maybe Shyamalan can write the first draft of the script then pass it off to a better writer. He can also do the cinematography... maybe..
I just watched this. It should have been on UA-cam upload. Worst movie ever. I wish someone would have told me how bad it was. It was just one big promotion for his daughter. The story felt like it was written by ChatGPT.
Bring back Tim McEwan for future episodes, he’s awesome!

TRAP builds tension and has a great central performance. I didnt turn my brain off I was just having so much fun seeing what happened next
then i'm afraid you probably need to visit a neurologist to see what you have, it may be terminal.
You definitely have a low IQ. The movie and acting was laughable.
Shut up Jeff
@vernontk lol it's a terrible movie not realistic in any way. Basically a concert with a bad short film overlaid
Stop, no it did not

I was sooooo disappointed, and the acting was horrible.
Quit pretending Josh Hartnet was good in this
why not post the entire podcast episode ("what we've been watching", etc.)?
