Trap is one of the best thrillers I've seen in a while beautifully well made and executed by M Night he did what he does best with this movie top notch proformances and honestly I had no idea were it was going in parts and I keeped being surprised
I just saw Trap and would agree with your guys bottom line recommendation that if you were scoring the movie on RT you would mark it as fresh. Personally I enjoyed the 2nd half of the movie more than the 1st half. Nothing that I had seen in the trailers was in the 2nd half of the movie. That was great! Kept me totally engaged.
Trap was one of the best thrillers I've seen... Incredibly clever, I think m.night shyamalan is going to go through the roof with popularity because of this amazing movie.... Great cast. Edge of your seat. I totally love the ending.
I absolutely agree, I take the liberty of advising those who have not seen it yet to watch the film on the largest possible screen, not only because of the concert, but because of the range of emotions on Hartnett’s face. Hartnett is so good that I would really like to see a sequel to this film with him if it were possible.
@@Str52849100%! Hartnett knocked it out of the park. And there’s some fantastic cinematography of the stadium and Hartnett’s perspective. This really needs to be seen on the big screen.
@@VariTimo In addition to all the positive aspects of the film, I also like that if you watch the film carefully, you can clearly notice many small pleasant moments, for example, the time when Cooper got into the limousine after escaping through the neighbor's yard, and when Cooper left the limousine, I put on the hood) This is for me Reminds me of the moment when Harvey Dent got into Maroni's car in The Dark Knight)
Great interview. Subscribed! I am a huge fan of MNS, and also loved this movie. I think people are over critical of his films, but they are one of the few great/non-IP/original movies to still come out of studio system.
Some people still don't see the weaving of magical realism into his films, even when the trailer says "In the world of M. Night Shyamalan" in large letters)
I always say, its a very small number of film makers with vision, and consistancy to make good films. For many films. With their true vision. And all of M Knight films that he wrote, directed from his original idea have been so well made. I love them all. TRAP was so good. His daughter, talent shines through regardless that it was family. I was so impressed by her vocals, the ....(Spoiler) ACTING. She did a great job. Josh was amazing. It's been a while but I thought about this movie for a long time after it was over. Hate the critics who are so harsh with M Knight. Perhaps because he is above everyone they judge him differently when they shouldn't. Bravo. Good job guys, and thanks for this. I am a professional movie watcher. And fan of many directors. But some after half a dozen films or less, start dying off. Failing. I don't know why. Perhaps they get effected by the hollywood machine. Something goes off. And their first few films are amazing. Still talked about today more so then when they first come out. Often makes me think about Tarantino mentality about making only 10 films but making those films count. And pouring everything he can into it. I could talk for days on films. Thanks again guys. Great job. I enjoy you all. - Toronto, Canada.PA UPDATE: I like the whole movie. Both parts. I hope you watch it again, and perhaps change your thoughts. The way this film suddenly changed, like did I just hear what he said? The rest of the film started to unravel started at a creepy and pace that I found so satisfying. I gave it a 7 out of 10.
I actually loved Trap, and I disagree with Jake. Some of the stuff that happens in the first half took me out a bit, and the second half elevated the tension since I had no idea where the movie was going
SENSEI M.NIGHT SHYAMALAN! One of THE GREATEST AUTEURS of ALL time. Our modern day Hitchcock. Author/creator of THE greatest ending/plot twist ever [THE VILLAGE]. THANK YOU deeply for this indepth Interview with such a GENIUS.❤
I haven’t seen Trap yet, so I don’t exactly know what you meant when you said it was “two movies”. But it reminds me of my least favorite criticism of movies and other story media. So I’m probably digressing or misinterpreting. Whenever I see “inconsistent tone” or a similar criticism, I roll my eyes hard. 90% of the time I see this said about a piece of media, I disagree about it being a negative. Most of the time it’s because someone had their expectations challenged and wrote it off as a bad story choice when it really wasn’t. Not saying you’re guilty of this, but your convo brought it to mind. Lol
Great episode! Can't wait to see trap bext week. I can confirm that Deadpool in the comics is exactly as you see it in the movies, constantly breaking the fourth wall and saying profanities of all sorts (all censored but understandable nonetheless) and everyone else just thinks he's absolutely crazy and doesn't understand what the hell he's doing or talking about most of the time. Which is often really funny because he can talk s**t to anyone but they can't properly rebuttle because they just don't know what he's talking about at all, they think it's just nonsense and they are baffled all the time
M. Night is such a cool dude. I regret laughing at Airbender so much. I mean, he tried. He's just better at this kind of thing. I'm super pumped for this movie.
I think Gabe’s idea is spot on. I always thought he’d be like a Stewie (Family Guy) type character where he says things that we understand, but the other characters kind of ignore.
RE: Wolverine mask. I was so entertained through the whole movie that when the time came I absolutely forgot we were getting Wolverine's mask. It was a "holy shit, that's right!!" moment for me.
I freaking loved D&W. My only gripe, which is more a “me problem”, was that I thought it would be more of an MCU shake-up. I was hoping for a bit more than light cheap shots, but it was an admittedly foolish hope. I’m not a post-Endgame hater at all. I’ve generally liked all the movies and shows, but the whole multiverse thing has gotten pretty stale for me. I may have took the “Marvel Jesus” thing a little too seriously. Haha. It didn’t really renew my excitement for the future of the MCU. The Captain America trailer looked good though! My favorite joke: “The Proposal (long pause)”
What if Doom will be CGI, like Thanos, and Ultron, controlled by THE WORLDS BEST ACTOR? Having RDJ appear as himself sounds like a big mistakeand kind of ruins Iron Man storyline to me. IMO. - Toronto, Canada.
The Happening was done in the late 90s/early 2000s...the hot topic back then was "global warming and bees are in the verge of extinctions" ...Mr. Shyamalan was doing his part to bring awareness to this topic...without bees human beings will suffer. so not sure why people are so harsh when he was just trying ti make a difference. He was using his platform to bring light to an important issue. The late 90s was a different time.

Every time M. Night gets on the show you guys end up asking him some of the best questions that I don't hear any other interviewer ask him.

Shymalan is so back baby. What a great theater experience this was! Did not expect to get shades of American Psycho towards the end

That bus stop story was great lmao, I def see why he rocks at putting twists in movies from his verbal storytelling alone

I'll go with Samuel L. jackson playing, Mr. Glass as my fav M.night performance. Underrated villain

Unfortunately, The Last Airbender and After Earth were studio-overproduced movies. Everything he has done since The Visit has been original and good.
He did not direct this film
I think Gabe’s idea is spot on. I always thought he’d be like a Stewie (Family Guy) type character where he says things that we understand, but the other characters kind of ignore.
Minus points for him asking his friend a question during the movie. You would think these guys could follow simple movie etiquette
I loved both halfs and the movie but agree with everything Jake said
Lovely
I love M. Night Shyamalan, of course he had some big misses but I love most of his movies!
He had like 4 misses

I need more questions about The Happening. Great interview, otherwise!

Amazing interview!!! I would love to see you guys talk to Eli Roth for "Borderlands" or Tilman Singer for "Cuckoo".
42:43 Why does Shyamalan talk about whether he would put the alternate ending on the 'blu-ray'? The Village has never released on blu-ray...
You do see some of the clips out side of the venue
How can trap be your last movie when you have a 3 picture deal with warner Bros
I hope they release the footage of the Thunderbolts* that was shown
