Lyrics:
Join in my
Join in my child
And listen, digging through
My old numb shadow
My shadow's shedding skin
I've been picking Scabs again
I'm down, digging through
My old muscles looking for a clue
I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been
I've been wallowing in my own confused
And insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in
I want to feel the changes coming down
I want to know what I've been hiding
In my shadow
My shadow
Change is coming through my shadow
My shadow's
Shedding skin
I've been picking
My scabs again
Join in my
Join in my child
Shadow's
Closer to meaning
I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic
Insecure delusions
I wanna feel the change consume me
Feel the outside turning in
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
Cleansing I've endured in
My shadow
My shadow
Change is coming
Now is my time
Listen to my muscle memory
Contemplate what I've been clinging to
Forty six and two ahead of me
I choose to live and to
Grow, take and give and to
Move, learn and love and to
Cry, kill and die and to
Be paranoid and to
Lie, hate and fear and to
Do what it takes to move through
I choose to live and to
Lie, kill and give and to
Die, learn and love and to
Do what it takes to step through
See my shadow changing
Stretching up and over me
Soften this old armor
Hoping I can clear the way by
Stepping through my shadow
Coming out the other side
Step into the shadow
Forty six and two are just ahead of me
I am really interested in what you guys can make on your own, beside the awesome covers. The way you interpret these songs make me want to hear what you can create!
Coming soon. We're in the studio now working on original ep.
@@BrassAgainst thank God!
+1
@@BrassAgainst I am so excited about this news!
@@BrassAgainst YES!!!!!!
I like how the drummer was like, “Nah... Not gonna even try Danny’s drum madness.”
Right! 🤣
Lmfao. I saw that as well....good notice!
Haha. Same.
Yeah, Danny is a hard one to keep up with for mortal men.
Even Danny wouldn't look like himself playing a part so dependent on having double bass. This drummer does a great job making it a different solo with relatively the same segway. Then again what do I know? Very impressive cover
I'm a simple man. I see Tool, I click on it.
Same here, it s a nice cover, but now, I must really listenning TOOL
No real tool fan is simple. It takes a complicated mind to really appreciate them. Rock on brother.
Same here.
Same here tool is my service playlist for my kitchen can’t do dinner without Maynard
@@Chef_GrrFace always cook to tool, I mean who ever would of thought 46 and 2 would be the perfect song to make lasagne to 😁
we demand the whole Tool discography and throw in A Perfect Circle while you're at it , the world needs it
Amen!
Judith..
hell to the yeah!!
Jizus this cover (and all the other) could be served with the original on their CD's. I'm having so much fun listening to You that I'm amoused.
My dad showed me this when I asked him if there was metal bands that used brass instruments and wondered if you could use metal distortion on say a trumpet
I am so glad Sophia is back. I would love to see her sing Sober with this group.
i can already hear it now.
I'm DYING to hear that! I so hope they do it!
Omg, if she did Prison Sex...
My insides would explode.
This is at 69 likes now
She looks fairly sober to me.
The bari sax player doing that baseline... wow!
When I'm listening too much Tool and still want to listen to them again, I come here for my extra dose
OG Tool fan here. That was great, first time ive had a legit emotional hit from this song in years. Especially from this singer's vocals at the end. Great job.
lol, ogt huh? Do you also wear vans, 501s, and a beastie t?
The sound walls Tool uses work shockingly well translated to horns. Whoever did these compositions is really on top of their game. Mad props. And Sophia's vocals are amazing as well.
Sophie's voice makes me feel things...I like these things.
Axl
When a man and a woman love eachother very much...
They make you wanna start a bar brawl.
They make you wanna tinkle??
The band sounds great, the lead singer gave off incredible energy !!!!
Sophia Urista 😍
That bari sax goes harddd
Tool is on a level where any cover I hear just makes me want to listen to the original.
Hahahaha, exactly! To readjust our ears.
I think the O'Keefe cover is better than the original. Little kala kills it and curtis drummer is a reincarnation of danny carey. They both put the same crazy level of emotion in to it. Same with there rendition of sober. That song gives me goosebumps
@@michaelbourquin181 Hm don't get me wrong, they are doing an absolutely incredible job for their age, but to put them on the same level as Tool (or higher) is a bit of a stretch, to put it mildly. There's still a lot of room for improvement. Plus, that's probably got nothing to do with the kids, but I don't like the arrangements with their superfluous piano/strings/keyboard parts.
@@michaelbourquin181 It's for sure the best cover, but the original is better imo.
@@michaelbourquin181 That girl singing is awful, sounds like a car running on a puppy !
Whoever put this band together and had tool on their mind to cover, props to you and the group for absolutely killing every song! Hope this finds its way to Tool and they appreciate it!! Keep killing it!!
would love to hear tools response
Well I think it reached tool because last week I went to a concert of tool in Amsterdam and Bras against was their opener! They totally rocked!!
@@bvt7060 Badass!!
OMG ! A new TOOL COVER with SOPHIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Everyone bitching about the mix:
It's a live mix, from what I can tell. It's not separate tracks, like you'd find on an album. The whole thing was recorded at once, in one sitting, and - again, as far as I can tell - in one take.
You're going to be hard-pressed to find a better live mix on anything. At all. And that's the point.
It almost captures the energy of Brass Against even better that way. You get to hear the awesome overlays. What you're hearing is what you're seeing.
I think it's absolutely fantastic, like every other track they've done.
It'd be cool if they released the stems and let everyone try to mix it themselves and see if it gets better.
Yeah, and from a really pretty cramped room, and remember them horns go 70dB alone, on their own, so, yeah, awesome recording given the circumstances.
Agreed - as a mix engineer I agree.
Definitely not done in one take. You can see the drummer playing a bunch of stuff that you can't hear and vice versa from 4 38 onwards.
@@shreyasiyengar8408 Plus the drums are programmed
Vocal range sophia has is ridiculous... good work as always guy's!! Can't wait to hear more.
You ve already got a new one. Long live
It really builds up well.
Wasn't incredibly into her choices first but the power later on is sublime.
@@madtiboysen5397 agree with you on that.
@@madtiboysen5397 I agree. I almost stopped the video because her singing was mousey and lacked any presence. The way she sang at 3:50 onward is how she should have sung the whole time. It's really difficult to cover a band with such fussy fans, lol, so I respect their effort.
Much respect to anybody who can cover a tool song lol.
Excellent as always. Great to have Sophia back. Her 'my shadows' sounds like Tina Turner singing Tool which is not a sentence I expected to write.
I love hearing Sophia sing anything with this group. What a great match

Seriously I scour YT for Tool covers, and there are SOOOOOO few vocalists who are up to the task. Sophia Urista nailed her version of Tool! Great job!
Kala Rose is my goat
I don’t know what is hotter: this cover or Sophia Urista!
Run Like Bettis 36 Sophie, but I do love me some TOOL.
Sophia ...😩😩😩😍
Maynard *
Band: Let’s cover another Tool song.
Drummer: Aw shit, here we go again.
Oh hey, this comment again
Yea, he did a good job but kind of did his own version of the beat.
When you listen to cover of Tool songs it always feels like there are only 0.75 drummers playing
@@Butterfliesandzebras Check out channel "Johnkew", only dude I've ever seen totally nail Rosetta Stoned on drums
@@DFTNSHEXGRM Disagree. This song's percussion complexity is it at its core to making it work, and this guy and his kit are just not up to it. Mixed in low for a reason.
Imma start a brass sludgecore bad and name it "spit valve".
Yesss! Fucking do it!!!
That's a really great band name
That’s honestly the best name ever for a brass sludgecore band. Please do it!
lol
Definitely have a song that starts with the sound of the spit valve being cleared lol.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
That song is so intense. It's been such a part of me for the past 25 years. Love it like a a brother.
now I wanna hear every album with these awesome musicians and her crazy powerful articulate voice.
SOPHIA...
GODDESSSSSSSS...
The news made me come to this place - and the music makes me stay 🤘🤘🤘
Saw you in Prague on 23.5.2022 before Tool.
I must say that playing Tool before Tool was a ballsy move!
I don't know why, but I get both teared up and energised by this. I always have a bit of a cry at the end of it and then want to go and blow up the world :)
Me, every freakin' time while listening to this song!
Holy Cats! She’s just incredibly wonderful! So is the whole band. I love Tool, but they can remake every Tool song and I would buy them. Amazing!
I'm ready to see her perform 46 & NUMBER 2.
Shes always right on..great instruments.......drummer wow
I am taken thank you , I have often said to myself this needed to be done by an orchestra of some kind... Bravo!! Brava!!.. love it thank you!!!
"We're gonna cover another Tool song!"
Drummer:
NOOOOOTTTTTT AGAAAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNNN!!!!!!
Hope fucking not
even if he played a "simplified" version
That was definitely not what Danny Carey plays. That’s why I hate playing covers by bands like tool. Every drummer in the room is waiting for you to bail on some ridiculously difficult part and then call you out for it.
Marsh Mallow I LOVE Sophia... that drummer Sucks!
I think he did a fantastic job, considering he doesn't have a double bass pedal, nor the massive drum set that Danny has.
These guys are probably the only Tool covers people will take seriously
This is the only Tool song that I like. Good cover. Nice Sophia Urinista job too.
The sax guy looks like he is going to steal my shadow
Hahaha Alto Sax looks like if you piss him off, he'll strip down to some tighty whiteys, call Michel and Franklin, and go GTAV on your ass..
Would love to hear them cover passenger some time soon. Love to hear these covers.
Wow... I never thought about it before but "Passenger" as a Brass Against cover would be absolutely amazing. I can already hear it in my head!
@@deanhatescoffee I would hope that Sophia would be the one singing if they did cover it.
@@limethegreenone6485 Sam Hope does a great Maynard, too. Maybe they can tag team it - Sam sings Maynard's part, and Sophia sings Chino's part. However it's done, I'm sure it would be awesome.
Yeah great idea that would be dope! The radio needs to bring that song back as a classic. Totally underrated.
Brassenger
The drum solo 👎 the sweet off beat snare hits and Tom runs are one of the most unique things about almost any tool song to me, ya gotta have em.
Jesus them horns are rockin this out!
I clicked this so damn fast
So did I ...... but that soft voice disapointed me
me too! amazing stuff, as always
@@davogotland I'm not much of a music critic since I don't play any instruments, but I am a huge tool fan so I kind of want to chime in here on something. The drummer butchered the drum solo of this song, or the mixing was off. The version those kids did, the drummer kid nailed the solo on the other hand.
I was listening to the 7EMPEST, then I got the notification. Stopped everything on hand
@@NooDLES411911 i didn't notice before i saw what you wrote! at the end of that segment there seems to be a lot of drum stuff missing. he keeps hitting the toms at the 5 minute mark, but i don't hear any of it.
Aw man I love this. Huge Tool fan and they pulled this off well. Love her.
My god Sofia is simply incredible!!! 😍😍😍
Incredibly hydrated! Did you see that woman’s spray? My god
Дуже крута співачка.
The brass arrangement lifts this song to a new level!
Please do Vicarious by Tool with Sophia Urista!
You know she likes girls right
I was came here just to say the same thing! Vicarious would be a tremendous choice, specially with that lad!
@@Man_with_no_name No, I didn't, but that's fine, because it's all about her voice and how cool that cover would be.
wait... what does her liking girls have to do with it....?
@@annethraxoverdose I would say absolutely nothing. She really has an awesome voice! Love her cover of The Pot!
I saw them open for Tool live in Dublin in May. they opened with Bulls on Parade which is my favourite RATM song and then they played Stinkfist and The Pot which made up for Tool not playing those
Wish I was still there
I've got such a crush on Sophia Urista. what a voice!
This lady is absolute 🔥 I had no idea this type of Jazzy cover would be this good. I usually stay away from TOOL covers but this is not only well done it’s Amazing. Who is this Angel that is the lead singer! Their cover of The Pot brought me to this video and as with the Pot I’m blown away, no pun intended.
Sophia is the pee pee girl and she is outstanding!! Such a great voice.
Lol here I am 2 years later in the exact same situation
Instant gooseflesh when she started singing "my shadow...". What a lovely voice!!
One of my top five Tool tracks....and Hells teeth this girl has nailed the vocals....and she really digs the track too....there is nothing I don’t like about this version, especially love the mix, it’s so raw...and those trumpets!
This band is better day after day like wine. I think that you could create amazing music and we want it :).
Im a simple man, I see a tool cover, i give it a like.
Sophia needs to do all of the tool covers fr.
I love how her eyes are closed almost the entire time. Feeling the moment and feeding off of the INCREDIBLE band that is backing her! Incredible job by all!!!!!🤘🤘
Any time Sophia Urista is on a track it is an instant listen for me. Anyone else?
Well that totally kicked ass.
there are so many things about this that are amazing!
what really stood out to me this time was the horn section at 3:40-3:50. what is even going on there?!
David Wallin Agreed! Those horns BLOW ME AWAY!!!!
@@good4gaby difficult to arrange, near impossible to play. i feel gratitude:D

Gotta love when a group does a cover and puts their own twist on it, remember folks they are covering TOOL🤘🏼
This Sophia girl really impressed with her performance here. I'm smiling ear-to-ear as I listen to this. Holy shit, man. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
THIS IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING OUR WHOLE LIVES FOR
Its so difficult when you love tool to appreciate a band who try to reproduce them ,even an a different style, your enough good to do your own composition.
Sooppphhhiiaaaaa! 😍😍😍
Just stumbled upon these guys, after I checked out that cover of "The pot" they did. They really like their TOOL covers, sounds great 👍
This is great up till about 3:50....then it transcends greatness. Those vocals👌.
Wow 😯. Holy crap. That was the best cover of a Tool song! I mean come on we’re talking about Tool. With a brass band? Horns? Amazing.
Oh yeah !!!!

Hah! I don't believe it *8 )
Yup.
So, what do you think now? Do you like the band?
This is insane. I just found out about Brass Against and I can't stop listening to their 4 albums, even while working. They kick butt, have this incredible energy and power behind their music, and the vocals rock the house. Keep up the awesome job, Brass Against!
I love everyone's interpretation of how to dance to Tool
