I really love my hogue exploit otf and am waiting on a recently purchased Microtech ultra tech II. This is really nice & love the ergos. The FDE PVD is beautiful. I really might have to add this to the collection.
I highly recommend if you buy a Benchmade and you don't buy it directly from Benchmade that you send it in to them first for tune up. Just in case the people messing with it in the store messed it up by playing with it too much.
In my case, I don't accept any knife that was in a showcase, subject to customers trying it out. Also, if the box has a factory seal, then I'm good to go. Also I'll avoid Amazon, both for potential clones as well as returns that are sold as new. I can highly recommend White Mountain as extremely reputable. 🗡️👍🗡️
I do not recommend buying one of these. The "Strong, durable, lightweight" handles are junk that break with a small drop. Then Benchmade wants to charge you $90 to replace it for you. Looks like they cheaped out on the quality on this one.
I beat the crap out of mine working on an airfield all day and it has held up very well. It functions perfectly and I have had to sharpen it a few times to keep it wicked sharp. The light weight is a benefit for sure if you intend to carry and use. It does not feel like a toy.
That chassis material is interesting, but I think I’ll stick with aluminum. Benchmade just doesn’t make any knives that appeal to me enough to pay what they’re asking. I used to want a M4 Freek, (actually good for the price), but I’ve just been buying M4 Spydercos instead. 😁 So, I highly doubt that I’ll be purchasing a Shootout, (too many other, more impressive US OTF’s on my list, and they ain’t cheap). Thanks for the review, though!
Like everything, time will tell. Subframe is steel. Yes, Benchmade is priced high at MSRP, but heavily discounted at many retailers, unlike Microtech, where they will pull your dealership if you do.
@@OGBladeReviews I’m not a fan of Microtech’s (lack of) business ethics, either. They recently started pressuring major distributors to stop carrying Axial Gear products, because they recognize how comparable, (arguably better), the Shift is to an Ultratech; at a ~33% lower price.

I really like mine. It’s a nice thin blade, good steel, good slicer. I like the weight. It’s a winner in my opinion.
I'm leaning in that direction and this is probably a keeper! Glad you're enjoying yours and thanks for watching. 👊🔥🗡️
I agree, I’d buy it again.
it's a good looking knife. it seems very comfortable and utilitarian. Great video 👍
I like how the blade is not offset like other otf's..I like the autocrat too.might have to put them both on my wishlist.great review.thanks Dave
Nicely designed OTF. Great video!
Thank you sir! 🗡️👊🔥
I like a bit of weight, most of my knives are 4-5.5ozs. I keep a few under 3ozs for my walks when I'm wearing shorts. Thanks Dave!
Yes knives can be like gold. The more they weigh the more implied value... 😂👊🗡️

Got a Hogue Compound, myself. Reviewed it here on the channel. 👍🗡️
Perfect EDC Otf, whish, without that Glaasbreaker

@@OGBladeReviews, I think I'll buy directly from the source and seal if factory sealed means sharper or higher quality next time.
Great review
They should make those, also without that Glaasbreaker
Yes, unnecessary in such a lightweight OTF. 🗡️👍🗡️
@@OGBladeReviews i have just orderd a glaasbreaker replacement part made out of carbon, from US👍👍
Did ya say this steel is 93-95 HRC? Sounds unlikely. Did ya mean 63-65?
Correction was made on that one in both subtext and my description. Yes, "6" and not "9"
@@OGBladeReviews Missed the correction(s). Sorry. It was a long, hot day here in the desert. 😓🌵
How does it hold up now? I’ve been really wanting to get my hands on it recently
Working well. No issues here. 👊🗡️👍

Great stuff! 🗡️👊
I like that one a lot. If I could blow $300 on a knife right now, I would buy one.

Mine's held up fine to medium duty and a few drops on pavement. Perhaps I'm fortunate. Sorry yours didn't work out. 👍🗡️
Benchmade will never get my money
