IMMORTALIS was built in 1996 by Niigata shipyard for the Japanese government as a sicentific research vessel. Her work included seismic surveying, fish stocks monitoring, carrying large loads and also worked as a crew training vessel.
She has a comprehensive setup of military grade equipment throughout the boat. Every system has a failsafe full backup system.
In 2020/2021 she was undergoing an extensive refit to become a specialized expedition vessel.

That's a lot of boat for the money.
Agreed - the value is definitely there!
Now we just need a small nation to afford "ALL" the fuel demands and maintenance (parts)...
And can't forget the getting on the hard/ paint/ bottom cleaning...
But still the coolest Boat, by far...
You'll need a home port, definitely! With yearly maintenance...
bigger boat cost less than 60 70 foot because their cost of running is higher
You would need captain second mate better to have a 3rd mate also . Engineer second engineer couple deckhands .So u need to employ Atleast 7 .

Was adding the keel ballast a less $$ option over, say, retractable stabilizers or is she too narrow in the beam for them/other reason ( the bilge keels in the way, for eg) if $$ wasn't an issue ? Thinking as much about the stability of that eVTOL/helipad on the hook as smooth sailing.

A lot of builders claim to build 'explorer yachts' just because the vessel has a large range, but I think its more than that. The vessel must have the ability to carry a large number of tenders & toys, be capable of handling bad weather, have expansive refrigeration/freezer space, etc etc so thats why I consider this a 'true explorer' vs a white boat with a long range

Easy on the superlatives mate. Makes me want to look very closely under the hood when someone is selling that hard. Also pronouncing the name of the vessel might help in the long run. Nice boat though.
He obviously was passionate about this boat. Whats not to like .he did an excelent presentationion informative perfect pitch..one of the best i have seen.thats his job to get the interest. Its obvously just the start of the process .then the prospective buyer begins their investigation of all ship systems.

A single main engine is not a unique feature of Immortalis. The larger Choi Lee boats utilise the same system: a large engine that can be run at 80% load 24 / 7 for 25,000 hours with a variable pitch prop and an azipod in the bow for a bow thruster as well as being a 'get you home' emergency backup. Take a look at DOROTHEA III and Qing.

Старая кляча которая доставит массу проблем. Начиная от гнилых труб и заканчивая поиском запчастей для этого антиквариата. Такое судно должно непрерывно РАБОТАТЬ, каждый день принося хозяину доход, половину которого он будет тратить на содержание этого корыта а из второй половины платить зарплату экипажу (если конечно он не пригласит всех своих родственников поработать за еду) и то нужен хороший повар и снабжение))
В общем не просто так она продаётся. Покупать есть смысл только если у вас есть для неё работа (например вы знаете где затоплен клад и батискаф, который у вас уже есть и весит как раз не больше 4 тонн, отлично помещается на эту заднюю платформу).
