Hey, cool story man. E5 is a Sergeant in the Army. Typically they are like “supervisors” to younger ranks (Privates, Corporals, etc.) making sure they know how to do their job properly and are well trained. E5 typically are Team Leaders of Firing Teams (Team Leader, Rifleman, Grenadier, and Automatic Rifleman). If you’re an E5 on track for promotion or your platoon lacks a proper number of NCOs (Non Commissioned Officers, aka Sergeants), then you may be an E5 as a leader of a Squad (two Firing Teams, Alpha and Bravo). If you ascend to Staff Sergeant (E6) you will be the leader of a Squad, or if your platoon lacks the number of NCOs and you’re on track to promote, you could be assigned Platoon Sergeant. Typically though, Platoon Sergeants are E7 (Sergeant 1st Class), which is a senior NCO advisor to the Platoon Leader, usually O1 or O2 (Junior Officers, Second Lieutenant and First Lieutenant respectively). E6 is considered last rank in NCO chain of command for enlisted soldiers, whereas E7 you break into the ranks of NCOs that advise officers and leadership of your unit. Hope that helps answer some of your questions!

It's intentional. Supposed to be deconstructing the way that film handled the scenario, like later in the film they bring to light how soldiers perceive war films, vs how they are perceived by the general public by having them watch Apocalypse now.
Or... it's based on what USMC boot camp is actually like and has always been like. R. Lee Ermey in FMJ didn't come with the stuff he says himself in his GySgt Hartman role, he was a real USMC DI in the 1960s and learned it there. There were realistic boot camp scenes in movies before FMJ. Go watch The DI (1957), though that's obviously "family friendly", Jack Webb's DI character says stuff you hear Hartman say in FMJ. That's because the Marines were involved in the production of that movie.

Great movie, expect DI's can't literally fucking assault you lmao
This movie solidified my opinion of "Fuck the Marines"
Underrated gem of a movie and a hell of an underrated actor (Gyllenhaal), but I’m glad this movie ALSO convinced me to NOT join at the same time!!!!! I almost joined after graduating high school in 2009, but then I realized i most likely wouldn’t have been cut out to be in the military(due to my ADHD and ADD of course). But hey, I would love to thank and salute the people that have joined after high school(or after college) and the ones that are probably close to retiring right around now!!!!! 🫡
Edit: as a final note, my brother did join the Marines when he graduated from high school in 1997(he’s been retired since 2022) he’s been around in the Marines and army, so he seen his fair share of Iraq and Kuwait tours in his lifetime(I’m unsure if he was ever deployed to help the 9/11 Victims, the ones that did survive)
Sir Im not gay Sir! When did broke back Mt come out??? Same time he did???
Hollywood…drill Sargents like this exist for sure but you won’t have to deal with with him for this long he did things in front of people…training is one thing this is another
With crappy music
Green bushmaster and wearing the outfit
Stole bit from FMJ
It's intentional. Supposed to be deconstructing the way that film handled the scenario, like later in the film they bring to light how soldiers perceive war films, vs how they are perceived by the general public by having them watch Apocalypse now.
The marines often quote FMJ, because that movie is about them. So it’s not stealing as it’s become cannon within the corps
Or... it's based on what USMC boot camp is actually like and has always been like.
Cheap copy of Sargent Hartman in Full metal jacket.
What is this
Turdz
This movie reminds me of a mediocre FMJ
Never saw the scene with the marines in the oil on the TV or heard about it, maybe as the leftie media was focusing on what a "bad" war this was. All about the soundbites, never about the poor bastards who were actually there.
🤡 it’s all about the poor bastards and what they went through
Hate myself enough to enjoy the abuse of the army
Haha did he have the balls to die here
Oil robbers… that’s it!
here's my dislike, the swearing words are the heart of this movie. Fuck it. Censor this.
Not as good as R Lee Ermy.
Trying too hard to be Sergeant Hartman. Fail
Stupid movie......... especially when the guy stands up while crawling under the gun...... "I can't take it, gotta stand up, that gun sound is too much". peow..."You'd be alive right now if you listened" are you kidding me?
It actually happened df. Soldiers diying in training isn't new.
@@ObiWanShinobi67 Sure......accidents happen in training.....They're the exception, not the rule. You really think this would happen? Even enough to add it in like a regular occurrence? cmon man
@@chrismillard4651 this movie is based off swoffords book. It's a true story. If someone is spraying rounds at recruits constantly I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. The military is full of f ups and tards. This movie and generation kill are the most realistic.
@@ObiWanShinobi67 I want to see Gen Kill, heard good things about it but haven't got round to it yet. The whole "shooting above the recruits head under wire" is done with fixed lines etc to make sure no one gets hurt and probably done 99% of the time with blanks. There ain't no "retard" firing a SAW with instructions to "not shoot the crawling people but scare them". People like to think it's like that because it seems cool.
First, people do stupid things when they lose it.
Second, Yelling at a dead body because you’re upset that they did something that got themselves killed is actually normal
Actualy this Movie is trash
Absolutely the worse military movie ever made!
How so? It’s the most realistic for the GWOT due to the fact we were never sent there for war. We were sent there to give the appearance of being at war so the civilian federal contractors could rob tax payers blind
This movie was so boring and awful. Don't waste your time.
Sums up the military sometimes. "Hurry up and wait." You'll hear that a lot.
lol
Hurry up and wait. The movie accurately nailed the boredom
Your opinion is garbage.
That was kind of the point of the movie...being in the military sucks.
Fitch steals it
Relief will arive
this movie sucked SHIT
