The best youtube video for the 7G-Tronic Plus Auto Gearbox I have ever seen, and quite correctly saying you need at least 9 litres of the Blue 236.15 ATF Fluid !!! What's the point of only doing half an oil change, as stated in this video you also need to drain the Torque Convertor, excellent job well done. I have heard stories of people taking their beloved Merc to Mercedes Main Dealers, and even they have got it wrong and only done half an oil change? Do it Yourself and you Know it's been done properly!! Again well done Geoff Pegg
Great video 👍 i done the same service for the first time on my c220 recently and i wish I’d found your video before hand! Mine took 9 litres as recommended by merc. After the oil change i reset the adaption for the tcm and now the car drives completely different, so much smoother between gear changes. Keep up the good videos sir 👍

Hey George, I am closing in on 70k miles on my 2012 e350 sport 4 magic which is when the MB Mintenance schedule calls for this procedure. I went thru many videos regarding this transmission procedure. You have done a great job in layman's terms on this . I've watched your video 3 times already and find it simple and easy to understand and logical in it's execution. If there's any criticism out there, they're just not listening and following what you're saying. Keep up the great work ,I'll be following you, your new "Yank" buddy from Staten Island,New York, USA.
Thanks very much, that’s a excellent thing to say, I was my first time at doing this job and pleased the way it went. My car now runs silky smooth and hope yours will do on completion. Cheers.
@@Darrell1302 Hey Darrell1302, unfortunately I don't have any indy shop I can recommend. I inquired at an indy shop close by me, but I was hesitant because the guy seemed a bit confused when I mentioned I wanted the torque converter to be drained also. I'm hesitant to therefore to be paying a guy for a job that might not actually do the job that I'm expecting. I see that the iCarsoft MB v2.0 is now on sale for $115.00 on Amazon and new fluid and parts are around $160.00, so I just might end up doing it myself so that I know it's done the right way. I do quite a bit of things myself whenever I can; brake pads, rotors, oil change, brake fluid flush, etc.
Hey Darrell, I see your latest message regarding paying me to help you. I appreciate the offer, but I'm not really into that. I do my repairs in my driveway or in the street in front of my house. I don't have a garage and as you know, it's pretty cold out right now. But where are you located? I'm in Staten Island.
Thank you very much for this video. I'm just about to have this done to my e400 wagon and I really like knowing the exact process before I go to the shop so I can make sure it's all done to proper spec. Well done!
Great video Geoff. The best I've found so far. Thanks you. I have just done same box on an ML250. Took out around 9l and put same in, not spewing out yet, so off to buy another litre tomorrow, just to be sure. FYI, I had just one magnet. Tip for others... pull back the coloured tab on plugs, as this locks them, before removing. OK, so Mercedes manual says (on stop/start model like this) add 6 litres initially, then warm up engine, then add 4 litres additional (assume torque conv. drained).
Great explanation, bet the main dealer doesn't drain the torque convertor! Or maybe I'm wrong. Liked the cheap submersible pump method as opposed to the pressure pot.
Do not stick to mb schedule of 70 thousand miles if you want your trans to last.....no more than 50 thousand and you'll never have a problem...also for a new car you should do your first change at 20 thousand because your break in will leave the pan full of particulate that will be getting sent around the trans and slowly destroying it....
hello, this is a very good video, thanks for all, but I have a question, the instructions say "the vehicle must be horizontal", but in this case the pan is not horizontal, because the pan is inclined in the car. If you put your pan horizontal like this video the vehicle is not horizontal, is higher back than front. Who must be in horizontal the pan or the vehicle??? I am confuse...
I’d say 10 to 15 mins to get up to temp, but you need to measure really to find the correct fluid level. I wonder what the difference in volume would be at 45c compared to ambient temp ? 50ml ?
Good video, just can't understand why people do not buy simple sealey filler (£30-£50) which can be used for differential oil change, atf and so on.. 😎
How it should feel when changing gears in those cars? In my E350 (C207) with similar mileage (45k) I can notice most of changes when car is cold, and shifting down from 5th to 4th gear is like pressing the break pedal. When is warm the changes are less noticeable but still noticeable - Oil replaced 5k miles ago. What is wrong with my gearbox?
You may need your adaptions reset, link here www.mercedesmedic.com/reset-mercedes-benz-transmission-procedure-instructions/ If that doesn't work you may need to get it reset using Star at your Mercedes dealership or good independent.
Out of curiosity buddy how.much oil did you take out in total from the converter and gearbox? I'm going to do mine this weekend and confused as I been told 9L for just the gearbox not inc torque converter... Thanks bud!
Hi, you will only get around 6 litres from the gearbox alone, the rest is from the torque converter, it does take a while to drain but may be quicker if you warm the engine up prior the draining. You will need 9 litres to refill the transmission, but a little is wasted when you do the level check.
