  • Link to full upgrade kit: mercedessource.com/store/earl... I present part 2 of my multi-part preventative maintenance series on the 2004 to 2010 722.9 automatic transmissions. After 2010 it was called the 722.9+. In part 1, we took a close look at the fluid and filter from a 2004 transmission with 78,000 miles. It is not a pretty sight. In this video will discuss an upgrade you can do on a 2004 to 2010 model (part 2), how to do a DIY full system flush (part 3), how to repair a failed transmission (part 4), and how to use a new generation scanner (around $500) to troubleshoot problems and get you home when your transmission glitches or fails to move. (part 5) and finally, doing a service on a 2014 model 722.9+ with only 40K miles on it. (part 6). Factory says 60K on these later versions. Let us see if that is true.
    Here is the link to all my detailed instruction videos. Good way to support my channel and learn something new in return. mercedessource.com/store/sear...

    Excellent video and probably the only one I've seen covering the filter and pan difference of the 722.9 transmission, excellent work!

    Very informative video explaining why MB upgraded the pan to make more room for filtration with the 3 layer media filter. I have 2 MB's with the early 722.9 transmission and will upgrade to the new pan and filter. Thanks for another great video

    Hi Kent. As always, interesting and informative. Question. Are there cases when you recommend to not flush the transmission? If for example you have a transmission with high miles, and you do not know if the fluid has been changed.

    • @Mercedessource
      @Mercedessource  10 місяців тому +2

      This is a perfect example of "one size does not fit all". There are many variable factors you need to consider to make a blanket statement, and I do not do a pressure flush! I do a "power drain." This will be covered in an upcoming video.

    Kent, OK...I have a question...I remember from days past in my 722.6 trans (2005 E320 CDI, 5 speed version of the 722) the trans fluid level in the trans was considered to be "critical" for proper transmission operation...eg standoff pipe, correct temp...fluid fill plug out until the fluid stopped draining......yada, yada, yada..). OK fast fwd to the 722.9. I agree with all the reasons to go to the deeper pan and the tri-element filter...but I can't seem to "get" the difference for the fluid levels between the standard and deep pans. It seems to me that the standard pan/fill pipe places the trans fluid level somewhere above the pan gasket.....meaning that the valve body may be immersed in trans fluid at the proper level in the standard config. But now with the new pan that has a slightly higher sidewall and a shorter fill pipe this means the trans fluid level is nowhere near above the pan gasket like it was in the std config. I realize that trans fluid expands in volume as its' temp rises but it seems like we are changing the trans fluid level by installing the upgraded pan. Is not the level of the fluid a critical parameter for "proper" performance of the 722.9 like it was in the 722.6....Your thoughts.....

    Good evening, I am writing from Italy, I have been watching your very interesting videos for about six months, as a happy owner of clk a209 200kompressor, (209.442) 06/2003 with 98000km. and automatic transmission, I ask you, is this update only foreseen for the car you presented? Thank you. Waiting for a cordial reply, greetings. Congratulations for the channel. Michele.

      @Mercedessource  10 місяців тому +2

      This upgrade is only available for the 2003 to mid-2010 7- speed 722.9 transmission. It is not available for the 5-speed 722.6 transmission which I believe your CLK has.

    Do you use a green or white overflow pipe with the upgrade for the earlier transmissions? Even with the upgrade, it's important to maintain the fluid at the level the transmission was designed for, correct?

    • @Mercedessource
      @Mercedessource  10 місяців тому +6

      Since the new pan is "deeper," the green overflow pipe must be used to maintain the correct fluid level.

    Bought your upgrade video. However, I'm still confused.
    Are these the correct parts to use in the upgrade for 2007 ML320 CDI?
    PAN PART#
    2222700512
    FILTER PART#
    2222772800/2222772000
    ALSO - as the MB236.14 ATF still needs to be used with the upgraded pan and filter - will that pose a problem for the upgraded filter which is intended for MB236.15?

    I recently had my transmission fluid changed at my local dealer. I’ve done the changes every 50k miles. My recent on they change the pan on the transmission and blamed it on corrosion. Is that a good enough reason to change for the pan?

    • @eatont9999
      @eatont9999 10 місяців тому +2

      Yes, a rusted pan will eventually leak and cause the fluid to get too low.

    Let ask you is it right to use a magnetic filter in a w210 transmission in order to reduce damage in it? I saw this filter in the video you made about power steering pump cares

    • @Mercedessource
      @Mercedessource  10 місяців тому +1

      I am totally sold on the "concept," but I am concerned about the attachment method. If it came loose or started to leak you could ruin the transmission. I am working on some ideas now.
