    Thanks for the mention Froogle! And yes, the UK F/O voice is our very own Q400 Cadet student Ben Weston. He's moving up in the jet world...

    Hi Froogle, thanks for the excellent FS2Crew video, I bought it the other day and tested it out from KBOS to KMIA and I have to say that it was amazing, I followed the tutorial on my second screen which told me exactly what to say and for 99% of the time it recognized my commands, having a First Officer doing what he would normally do does give added realism and I thoroughly enjoyed my flight, I would even go so far as to say that it is fs2crew's best product yet (having bought quite a few of their products).

    I Love 777 FS2Crew, Specially with that Female Voice (US Accent). I call her Jennifer :D :D

    FS2Crew is essential in my opinion. It is the way that the real aircraft is operated.

    FS2Crew is definitely one of my "must-haves" for airliners. As much as I've enjoyed the PMDG 777 since it was released, it always felt like a piece was missing because I was so accustomed to having an FO sharing the duties. The only problem I ever have with FS2Crew is trying to remember the correct phraseology to use for different equipment when asking to have the external power connected or disconnected -- especially the NGX. I usually have to use the manual or a cheatsheet when I switch from one type to another.

    Tip, When setting Trim open flight control panel like you have open when doing flight control testing, use the digital read out to set trim. Moves in .25.
    I like the added immersion it brings but it is a very automated aircraft, love hand flying it up-to cruise and then approach.
    It might start at 55 mins, but to push back it takes the same time as the ngx, you can skip a ton of time in the 777.

    Being someone that only really fly's Jet Liners (A320 and B737), FS2Crew is an absolute must, in terms of the realism. Don't have the 777 as don't have time to complete long enough flights, but this as always looks very nice.

    Great video, Pete! I was thinking about something.. I wish FS2Crew would make a version where you're the 1st Officer/copilot instead of the captain. This would make a lot more sense in a professional training enviroment.

    Was very surprised to see you do this specific flight, Froogle. I did SV554 back in Oct of 2009 for a weekend holiday with my dad in Dubai. KKIA isn't a very well known airport so I'm quite surprised to the fact you chose to fly from there. I spent half my life living in Riyadh too haha.
    Would just like to point out a few things though. OERK has two runways. However, the west runway (33L/15R) is used for VIP movement only, unless the main runway (33R/15L) is closed, usually for maintenance. My dad, who has recently become the former Chief Fire Rescue Officer at the airport, handled the Lufthansa Cargo crash there back in 2010, which is another reason why the runway would be closed and the VIP runway would be opened to traffic, but in most circumstances, 33R/15L is the runway you should use, if you ever decide to fly to Riyadh in the sim again :P
    Another thing, not too serious, is that you used the callsign SAV instead of SVA. Simple mistake haha.
    Other than that, great video. Enjoyed watching the first part to FS2Crew's PMDG 777 addon and can't wait to watch the rest.

      Hi I didn't get fscrew just bought the PMDG 777-200/300. GOT A PROBLEM. THERE ARE NO GROUND service veicals. When I use pushback the aircraft goes back but no vehicles can be seen. Also the large cargo doors doesn't open. How do you fix this problem?

    • @FS2004looney
      @FS2004looney 9 років тому

      zszs100 The PMDG 777 doesn't come with ground service vehicles. You need to purchase GSX or AES

    • @zszs100
      @zszs100 9 років тому +1

      *****
      Please help me on this problem. I bought both the pmdg 777 and aerosoft a320. is it possible that my RAAS for pmdg 777 can conflict with the RAAS on the aerosoft a320? Cuz when I approach a runway, it doesn't tell me what runway im approaching. HOWEVER if I load the aircraft onto an active runway, it tells me what runway im on. BUT if I TAXI onto a runway for takeoff, it doesn't tell me what runway I am on. What could be the problem? ALSO WHAT IS the correct way to find out what star to use on approach to runway? I use the freeware route finder. I see a lot of stars in FMC but don't know which on to use.

    I've always avoided products like FS2Crew... until I saw your Airbus Fully Loaded series. Not only did I shoot off and buy the Airbus (great product) but also FS2Crew. I can't imagine flying without it now.
    A more detailed video on PFPX and Tomcat would be great.

    how do you open the main FS2CREW panel at the start of a flight?

  • @owenpoborsky1241
    @owenpoborsky1241 9 років тому

    Most certainly worth it! I've been using it for a few days now and it's really a great tool; however I'm not a fan of the size, I think the size of the Fs2Crew panel in the NGX and Airbus is better for flying compared to the 777 panel being much larger.

    I love FS2Crew and have purchased all of the versions of it over the years. I don't even like flying an aircraft without it, although I will because some aircraft that don't have it, are still just too good to ignore.
    I also agree with another poster that I don't really care for the way that they got rid of the config panel. I thought it was much more intuitive and time saving to use the separate config panel. Hopefully Bryan will bring it back in the future.

    To be honest, as cool as it is, I prefer the button control version for my NGX since I don't want to concentrate on muting/unmuting the mike, and making sure it recognized my voice properly during critical phases of flight. Now, shared cockpit would be a whole different story!

    The removal of a dedicated config panel in favour of this new system is baffling to me. Who thought that it would be a good idea to model configuration of this complex program along the lines of a VCR?
    Rather than one click, view a panel, check the settings, click once or twice more to change settings, you're now clicking once just to scroll through every page of the config. How is that progress? Did I enter a timewarp back to the 90s?

    this is just a totally what if Question, but what would your confidence level be Froogle, actually having to commandeer this aircraft in reality? your videos are very thorough and i love watching them. is it more of a learning the actually systems or just button clicking memorization, im not questioning your dedication to fully learning these sims just curious as to your view on if it would be possible in your mind to pilot such aircraft you have simmed, specifically jet aircraft. (No Doubt you'd Excel in the cessna)
    Thanks In Advance

Got 3 question for you, hope you can advise; I am on the search to get my system to operate near but not exact like the system (visual smoothness) to the video..#1 would you be able recommend me what would I need to acquire for my system to run like such smoothness and realism of all objects motion (mines delays or skips) or I must consult a tech support if #2..Is tehre a quick solution when getting a "SDK Error" on the fs2 Crew panel window..and #3. Is there a quick solution to be able to set the fs2 crew panel minimized to fixed it to preference view? this would go for the cockpit front panel view as seen on your the video??..not able to zoom out without pressing on the space bar and slide L or R??

      Yes. I manually adjust the thrust at takeoff so I don't climb at 5000 fpm. I think that the passengers aren't enjoying the flight. The 777 has the capacity to climb very fast. It is only a tip. Have a good day.

    • @barritademiel13

      It's a light airplane today... I used to work for Emirates as a FA and some years ago, as a result of incident, Boeing prohibited the use of reduced take off thrust due to some software problem they had to fix. During a couple weeks, no matter how light the aircraft was, it was always full thrust for take off. On those (painfully early moring) short turnarounds with the 772 and 77W, the climb attitudes were ridiculous.

    Looks interesting, but to me talking to a computer to tell him to do a checklist seems a bit stupid, even more so when I could do it myself in half the time. I'd only like having this for being able to hand-fly "properly" and not having to release my hands from the controls when I wanted to turn on the landing light or something like that.

    • @AustrianA340
      @AustrianA340 8 років тому

      +jibeneyto It's actually real world procedure for the PF to call out the checklist and the PM to read it back.

    • @jibeneyto91
      @jibeneyto91 8 років тому

      I know. But in the real world you talk to another person. The point is the computer/person distinction, not whether the checklist has to be done or not.

    • @AustrianA340
      @AustrianA340 8 років тому

      Well if you're going down that road, then consider you're also flying a computer aircraft and not a real one.

    • @jibeneyto91
      @jibeneyto91 8 років тому

      I see the future in shared virtual cockpits. Two people flying the same aircraft at separate computers. You can do this with some aircraft like the Leonardo MD80. I'm hoping this spreads to more and more aircraft!

    • @AustrianA340
      @AustrianA340 8 років тому

      I totally agree on that. Like VATSIM/IVAO vs. virtual ATC. There is no comparison. Yet I'd still rather have a virtual F/O than none at all. Ever since I tried FS2crew I can't go back. Not even with the Aerosoft Airbus, which already comes with a basic crew-system, but the experience is at another level with Fs2crew. But I'm also looking forward for shared VC's to become part of the Flightsim Community like online ATC. And then flying with the combination of both.

      GSX already exists, Ground Crew X is a product currently being developed by the FS2Crew team. :)

    I just me something about the PMDG 777 and was wondering why it asked me to install fs2crew when I bought the plane. and furthermore what is the hotkey to bring up the HUD for fs2crew.

    • @frooglesim
      @frooglesim  9 років тому

      +frodboy h When you installed you were asked if you wanted to install FS2Crew RAAS. This is not the FS2Crew product shown in this video. The "hotkey" for the one shown in this video (after you have bought and installed FS2Crew separately) is documented in the manual (You need to assign a key to it within the sim)

    It does reduce the workload, which can make things somewhat boring (and disorienting because I need to get used to what the FO does versus what I do), but it's nice to be able to hand fly and ask the FO to set the HDG bug to another heading without reaching for a mouse, or a button on the yoke.
    Apologies to anyone who has to deal with the ground services in the United States, by the way. The guy sounds like a complete idiot =P

    15:00. I'm guessing the flight planner was giving you temps in Fahrenheit, because you put 68 degrees CELSIUS as your takeoff temp. I know the desert can be hot, but I don't think it gets quite that hot. :P

    • @frooglesim
      @frooglesim  9 років тому +3

      EnDSchultz1 Nope. From TopCat, for this flight: Config : Flaps 5 // D-TO2 +68C

    • @wardog6695
      @wardog6695 9 років тому +2

      It's Derated so the temp can go as high as you like, just you need more runway.

    • @EnDSchultz1
      @EnDSchultz1 9 років тому

      Ah, so perhaps I've misunderstood the purpose of the temperature input on the thrust page. So what is the temperature input a representation of, if not OAT?

    • @wardog6695
      @wardog6695 9 років тому

      It's to let the engines think its much hotter outside and use less power(to avoid overheating).

    One question ! Is it compatible with win 8?

    • @lars8102816
      @lars8102816 9 років тому

      I have seen people who have done it. But I would strongly discourage you not to. FSX and Windows 8 are a pain to set up let alone run stable on a pc.

      lars8102816 i didn't experience win 8+fsx as a pain to setup. getting it up and running stable with just some basic CFG tweaks cost me 8 hours( including windows setup and addons). didn't even have any CTD's for a week(new pc since a week) so i must disagree. however if my pc would be purely for FSX i must agree a different OS would be better.

      I saw another comment from you saying that you still can't find it but unfortunately I get such a massive volume of comments I couldn't find it again to reply. I don't know a solution for your trouble as it is not something I have come up against. I have a feeling that you have not run the config tool though and turned fs2crew on. if you haven't already I'd recommend walking step by step through the PDF manual and if that doesn't work reach out to fs2crew for technical support.

    It's unfortunate that the planes where this is really needed (707, 727, 737-200, etc), don't have FS2crew. I know you can use MCE, but I'd rather it be a little more polished like this. Quite a shame.
