On a different topic, thanks for numbering your videos so clearly. It really helps to follow your progress without constantly wondering who did what, where, when and why.
I'm so mad at you for putting out such great content LOL. I started watching #1 and am now watching #31. Nonstop. I just couldn't stop watching. You are going to have such a great property and house.
A bit daunting but the more I walk around the more convinced once It’s all done it will be fairly straightforward to maintain. The future potential is something to look forward to.
Hi Andrew, I’m still way back at Epidode # 31 but reluctant to go forward and interrupt your progression as your projects and lifestyle evolve over time, not that I haven’t been tempted. Anyway talking about appliances in this video. Have you got yourself an air fryer, they seem to be all the rage down here and are so quick and compact too given your limited space at this point in your bus but also a handy addition to your kitchen appliance arsenal. Love your channel, including the excursions to the beach. But before I stop waffling, you mentioned you had plans to get a standup first and then possibly a surfboard. I’m a long board surfer myself 9’6”) and still learning my craft after some nearly 20 years (now just turned 72 having started if when I was 53) but the enjoyment I get out of this ‘addiction’ has been life changing in so many great ways, it’s distressing and relaxing even just for a 30 minute sessions, it keeps you fit and feeling young as you are mixing it up with all the guns and groms. You might spot my local break at Piha (45 minutes out of Auckland, NZ) on my profile photo and taken from Lion Rock an iconic rock formation shaped like a lion). I know there is some pretty aggressive surf spots on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, but where you are looks like your local beaches just might suit a longboard extremely well with the possibly in the right conditions giving you some nice glassy peelers that I’ve seen in your previous videos. Cheers mate.
It must be so satisfying clearing your land on your tractor. The kitchen looks so much better with the white walls now. I hope it’s made life much easier for you. 🏴
Andrew you are such a hard worker, and so motivated. The work on the land is such an improvement; also the kitchen/utility room will make all the difference to your life though the winter. I admire your ingenuity; you see a problem, and always find an imaginative solution. Look forward, as ever, to your next video!
The yard looks so good and it is so wise of you to clear as much under bush between the treess. The clearing will cause less problems in fires! Your place looking so nice with your space it all takes time! I love your land and your home will have a lot of character in time!
Hi Andrew if you can cut next to your boundaries cut a 5m clear area to serve as a fire break and you will be able to be more at ease when there are fires. Regards Billy from South Atrica
There is nothing so rewarding as working on the land , great progress, I think more people are getting satisfaction from doing renovations and farming the land . This pandemic has made people think about the lifestyle they are at , just huge mortgages and bills never stopping. I think we will see a return to living in the country side and being more self sufficient.
Hi Andy you have so much energy and skill. You have created an Oasis. Good luck with the roofer...would be great if he can achieve what you want,at a reasonable price.
It made me think all the foreigners outside of Portugal that came and buy these longtime forgotten and neglected farms and land's who builds it back-up to beautiful living useful places is awesome. I would like to know how these farm's started and why it end in ruins? Thank you for caring to make it new again it is apreseated. Greetings from South Africa, Cape Town. 🙏🐕😉
Wow good job wonderful , hope the rain fill up your little lake . You need the rain to start your garden. Cannot believe the amount of work you do in a short time and the motivation you have and enthusiasm in everything you do . Please slow down a bit and enjoye life, maybe you do it and we do not see it . Take care . Love the moon and night sky best place to live
Hiii Andrew👋 Algarve is amazing área to live and enjoy the life but you have a lot of work at house👍👍👍 I live in Portugal and I love it 💯 Very nice video thank you for sharing 🙌😊
Andrew absolutely brilliant when you cleared the land it looked fantastic. That little lamborghini is brilliant saves you loads of time brilliant video 📹 m8 stay safe me old mucker
I can be patient for the aesthetic stuff 👍 your kitchen utility room is great also the water tanks being in such good condition ,yaaaay. My husband uses an ancient salamander to heat garage in winter. They are a great thing to have in rural areas saved us from freezing with our generator. 🥰
Andrew you are so inspirational,I have nothing but massive respect for you ,you pump so much energy to what you are doing ,I enjoy every vlog please keep,I also love the way say as you see it,,,
Hi Andrew good to see the improvements, we are out in Algarve this week looking for suitable property for rural tourism project but seems impossible with the latest fire rules brought in. Ie no temporary structures allowed on the land especially around silves. We found an add for a property sating it had approval for touristic development but turns out we would need to put in planning etc for proper brick/stone built structures. Just financially would not be viable. What have u come across or any ways around all this.
With a pair of jumper cables you could jump start either your car or your tractor from the working vehicle's battery... (assuming they are both the same battery voltage, which google seems to indicate)
Your strategy has to be to hold the water on your land for as long as possible so that it can soak into the ground and benefit your land. I also question the sustainability of cutting so short. All in the name of tidiness. Yes, trim and hold the water, but let nature revive the land as well..
True, those lands were being regenerated and also served as protection for the fauna that now no longer exists in that area. In addition, when vegetation is removed, it retains water worse and can produce runoff.
Do you speak Portuguese already? Is it hard to get things done when buying and ordering stuff for your projects, and getting services set up? Do you have high speed internet at your house, or using 4G cellular data works well enough?
I suppose good question, is how is your bottom feeling,🤣🤣 post all that tractor driving how many hours of sitting, excellent job clearing safer cos now you can see wildlife about must be some snakes and crawlers taking flight 🤔😆😖
Hi John, they are cork. Most of the green protection had nothing growing in them, probably didn’t get a chance to grow with everything around them. So it was nice to discover a handful are OK. Give them a chance to grow now.
Ha ha. Zip ties were trimmed. I’ve wrapped them round 3-4 strips for strength . It just looks like (at certain camera angles) I haven’t trimmed the ends. I could only find black when I was dashing around searching for them.
What have I missed? I don't know why you're wiping all the ground cover off the land. Is it just because you think it looks better? It's not better for the soil. Also if you clear the ground above the pond you will have erosion into your water supply. I guess there must be a reason.
I don’t see the advantage of mowing down almost to the ground… I would think by removing all greenery you would have an even greater fire spread risk. What about having veggie beds (squashes ?) or berry bushes ? ‘Tidying’ up the environment removes all the flowers which the bees need. Nature is, by nature, UN-Tidy !!
You need a real bush hog that will cut all that brush down easily. Your is more of a mower, good for tall grass but not so good on real heavy brush like you are dealing with. Make a deal with a local farmer after you get it greened up and have them graze some sheep or goats!

Ha ha, good to hear, plenty more to come 👍
A bit daunting having so much land to manage on your own but how fab to have so much space to call your own! A beautiful location for sure ;-)

Wow! The mowing has really opened up the property!! Looking good!
Well done Andrew, what a difference you’ve made to your land. And your room! You should be proud of yourself buddy. Love your video 😉
Thanks Andrew 👍
@@rusticcrow can’t wait to see your next video.you’ve inspired me to do this. 😉
@@andrewstrickland9231 that’s great
@@rusticcrow happy new year Andrew 🥳
Amazing how the land looks after you have been working on it. It opens up the space so much.
It must be so satisfying clearing your land on your tractor. The kitchen looks so much better with the white walls now. I hope it’s made life much easier for you. 🏴
I think that trail up to your happy spot and beyond is awesome! The kitchen very serviceable. You really get things done. Great vid! 🙂👍👍👍👍
Good progress on your land and having a nice clean area for cooking and doing laundry. Glad you got your wood stove fixed!
What can I say!!!! You are soooo much fun👐

Thanks Tiffany. Yes the potential is promising and really interesting to see it transform a little every week.
Loved the look of the land once you'd given it a 'shave'! Your kitchen room looks great too now with the white paint, well done you!
Another great video!
It’s a lot of fun to see your progress along with hearing your plan/vision
Have a great week:-)
Kitchen area looks great, fresh and tidy.

Will do 👍
That is what we do in Australia

Greetings. They get passed down from the generations and then ignored. There’s huge satisfaction in giving a place a new lease of life.

Hi Andrew, love the Channell. Am in your neck of the woods in late December. Be great to pop in and meet you.
😎👍
Congratulations on 3K of Subs that's amazing, keep the great content coming, nice one.
Thanks Jon, you were there from the start 👍
Great work Andrew very interesting vlog this week you crammed a lot in really enjoyed it take care mate.
Your land is beautiful, you have a good csre of it.
Great job
Hello Andrew, Gosh, you work hard. Thanks for showing us the skills...

I do not remember if you have drone. But would have cool to see the progress on the brush clearance. Awesome work. Damn chilly in the UK
I’ll be borrowing my brothers drone hopefully next week. An investment I’ll need in time once I can afford one. 👍
Good to have a tractor for this....
Sure is. Necessity.
I can be patient for the aesthetic stuff 👍 your kitchen utility room is great also the water tanks being in such good condition ,yaaaay. My husband uses an ancient salamander to heat garage in winter. They are a great thing to have in rural areas saved us from freezing with our generator. 🥰
Thanks, toasty in the bus tonight. Stark contrast from this time last year. 😎👍
Always enjoy you vids and the dogs.
Wow you dont stop...brilliant amount done...the land looks so much bigger cut bck...
Great job!

Great job done, I love the engery that you have, keep it going, a bird, wild life section to walk through is lovely
Remember to clean the seeds from your radiator. Cutting long grass and bush blocks the radiators. Regards Billy
Will do thanks. Builds up quick.
I Love what you do, everything is looking great
I enjoyed a lot! 😊💪💪
You are making great progress, it's beging to take shape.
I am curious to know how long would it take you to walk along the outer perimeter of the entire property🤔
Will find out once I’ve cleared in. I’ll be clearing either side to the top and the track down the middle.
Would a future dry period be a good time to increase your pond? Have you an idea to do that at some point? Deeper would help it not evaporate as much.
Is that a LAMBORGHINI tractor?
👊🏻💞
The land looks a lot like parts of Texas.

It’s not just about tidiness it’s also about getting it to a level where I can maintain it. And as I have already mentioned I will be planting trees.
True, those lands were being regenerated and also served as protection for the fauna that now no longer exists in that area. In addition, when vegetation is removed, it retains water worse and can produce runoff.
Andrew, your cork oaks seem to survive after being harvested, will they grow new bark where the bark was removed? How long does it take?
Hi, yes. They are removed every 9 yrs.
What kind of tractor are you using ?
Lamborghini runner 450. Wrong tyres I know. 👍
@@rusticcrow oh the tires are cool, and hey its nice to tell people you have a Lambo. ::-)
Curious, why is your jeep door always open?
Snakes? Tics?
Can you start a compost pile for when you have veggie gardens?
Good idea

Bouncing around like crazy, luckily the seat is soft 😎
Yeah, paint looks tidy
From the video it looks as if you have uncovered a lot of newly planted trees that still have protection around them. Do you know what they are?
Hi John, they are cork. Most of the green protection had nothing growing in them, probably didn’t get a chance to grow with everything around them. So it was nice to discover a handful are OK. Give them a chance to grow now.
If you're going to do a SHOWER SCENE every week please trim the excess zip ties off the bamboo, its doing my head in..lol😆🤪
Ha ha. Zip ties were trimmed. I’ve wrapped them round 3-4 strips for strength . It just looks like (at certain camera angles) I haven’t trimmed the ends. I could only find black when I was dashing around searching for them.
