Dominika I think you nail your thoughts and feelings relative to tool right on the head. You often apologize for your attempts to convey what you think and feel, and you shouldn't. You're smart and you interpret it well. Tool, in my opinion, is the best band/music at conveying all the elements of being human into song. Their music is an experience. You both get it. Love your reactions!
At any given day one Tool song or another may be my favorite. But after 30 years of Tool I cant help but feel this is their magnum opus. The complexity, the lyrics, the sound, the message, the metaphors. They all speak to me about existence and the journey. They've traced the spiral of our existence and conveyed it with sonic beauty.
You both have graduated to a different Tool level. I've watched every one of your Tool reactions and each one, you both gain something. But Lateralus is very much a keystone song in the journey. Tapping into the deep current of spirituality that drives this song (and entire Lateralus album) is often a defining moment for Tool fans. Both of your reactions to it seems like you got there.
Listening to TooL is like riding a roller coaster. The nervous anticipation of climbing the hill, knowing in the back of your mind it’s dangerous. By the time the ride is over you are sprinting to get back in line.
I love your Tool discussions! And I relate so much to everything she says, she mirrors so much of my own experience with Tool and my opinions about both the music and lyrics and that emotional place Tool fills inside me.
Over thinking over analysing separates the body from the mind… don’t overthink it. Enjoy it for what it is , an amazing song. Love love love your reactions 🌀
Honestly, I don’t think I ever get as much out of watching reactors to Tool as I do with you 2. It’s the most pure, genuine, thoughtful and respectful thing to watch you listening to them. 🌀
these songs touch something inside and it is very hard to put into words....what's amazing is that this one song can bring out many different reactions.....amazing.
I only discovered TOOL a few years ago. Seen them live twice. Love Maynard's other bands. But THIS SONG is the single-most inspirational song I have ever heard in my entire life! You will keep coming back to it over and over. As noted in the lyric video, the syllables of the verses are all counted in the Fibonacci sequence. Very cool. The original title of the song was 987, which is the 13th number in the Fibonacci sequence. It was called that because the chorus is built from 3 measures in this order: 9/8, 8/8, 7/8. I believe Justin the bass player wanted to do a riff that was "curling in on itself." The "spiral" is talking about the Golden Ratio built with squares with sides the length of each step of the Fibonacci sequence and connecting their verteces makes an ever growing spiral. It's found all over nature -- seashells, plants, etc. Spiral out and go where no one's been!!!
I understand your feeling about Tool. I discovered them about four years ago, during the pandemic….i love the complex rhythms and the deep lyrics…..the imagination is incredible. BUT….I am in my 70’s and the energy made me anxious and “jangly”….so I have to take them in one or two song sips….As you get older, many of us can become anxious from frenetic music. I hate it, but that’s the reality of it. I think Tool is one of the best bands of the last 30 years, but I have to take in small doses.
❤ your Tool reactions. Can't wait for the next. For my 10 year wedding anniversary in December, we're having a micro wedding and I'm getting engraved glasses . One will read: We'll ride the spiral to the end ;the other will read: Spiral out, keep going. Tool is both me and my husband's favorite band, so we have to incorporate them how we can; they are a big part of our lives❤
Thank you for this very good reaction once again. As always, it is such a pleasure to listen to your feelings and comments about these great tracks. :) And one more tidbit of useless info regarding this song, staright from Wikipedia: The time signatures of the chorus of the song change from 9/8 to 8/8 to 7/8; as drummer Danny Carey says, "It was originally titled 9-8-7. For the time signatures. Then it turned out that 987 was the 16th number of the Fibonacci sequence. So that was cool." :D
Its moments like these I wait for. We are all one people, we have differences, yet we all in this great awakening. Where We Go One We Go All! United we stand, divided we fall. WWG1WGA
True 'Art' is always more than itself. Anyone can throw some music and words together, anyone can throw some paint at a canvass, and so on. Art transcends its' medium and speaks to the 'listener' the 'viewer'. Aesthetics may not be able to tell us the 'true' meaning of art, but Tool definitely gets me closer to it. 💜
Congrats on 66.6 subs. Coincedence? J/K. Lateralus is quite the song eh? I seen reactions where I seen people in tears after listening to this song. Tool always seems to hit the spot, so to speak. Fun reaction.
You make so much sense and are so wonderful. I understand worrying about finding perfect words but you speak from your heart and soul and that translates beautifully! Sending love 💛
you two are the cutest, so glad you love Tool and you get where they are coming from. introspection is hard to verbalize sometimes, Tool lyrics say things we all think but cant put into words,.
perhaps a perfect song......end to end, wisdom and musicianship, cerebral and brilliant....MJK is different, this band is still this good, 30 plus years, Love you guys!! Thank you!
Tool is a journey. Lateralus is built on the Fibonocci Sequence, which makes it extra special for us nerds. You can never go wrong with Tool. 😉 Edit: She is correct. There is no-one like Tool. I laid my back on the grass in Sacramento last October and soaked every song in. I had two wishes, that they played this or Pneuma. They played Pneuma. They opened with Jambi. It is truly a sublime experience.
Head vs heart. Reason vs the innate. Its a very profound song and makes me think how we miss much of the spectrum of ideas available to us because we reason it all away. So much opportunity lost because we choose the safe over the adventurous, the linear vs the random.
I've been working as a creative director in advertising for 24 years. My most common suggestion to each and every client: stop over-thinking, stop over-analyzing. Look at this like a human. (Then I get this song in my head for the next hour or so, and that's pretty cool.)
I love you two. I didn't even know that he came from a hiphop background and that she loves Nick Cave, I've only seen their Tool reactions and they've been amazing.
@@mandulala8197 I was supposed to visit Budapest 2022 to see Haken, but unfortunately that gig got cancelled. :( So there is a high chanse that I'll pick that. :)
There is no other band like Tool, but another band that will evoke emotion, make your heart soar, and sound like it's beyond everything else is Sigur Ros. Their entire catalogue is amazing. Try Milano on the Takk album.
Very good reaction, the comment saying it’s something I needed I don’t know why. was very poignant. Saying Tool will stay with me for life is the same thing I said decades ago..true then true now.
To me, Tool is the sonic equivalent of a Van Gogh painting. Every brush stroke is layered. Like all great artists they show the difference between art and Art.
You couldn't have said it better. Tool hits for me on those things about human existence that is difficult to convey within the constraints of human language.
If you like the lyrics of this one, you'll definitely enjoy the holy trinity Disposition, Reflection, Triad. Particularly Reflection, it changed my life really. Keep rockin!
Context often helps. 'Push the Envelope' is definitely a term I know we use here in America. Not sure that it's used in the UK so here is the explanation of meaning. "To push the envelope means to surpass normal limits or attempt something viewed as radical or risky. It comes from the aeronautical use of envelope referring to performance limits that cannot be exceeded safely."
I don't know if you have reacted to their song The Grudge. More dynamic lyrics! Thought provoking. Intense!! Don't hold grudges..they will destroy you!
Amazing reaction and I hope you continue to ride the spiral. I think you two should give the band A Perfect Circle a listen. The vocalist from Tool is also the lead vocalist if this band and it is a bit lighter yet amazing music. I suggest you listen to the song "Orestes" a chance. Thanks and continue to search for music that touches your soul. This will change your life ....
Love your reactions. I suggest Parabol / Parabola (both songs should be listened to as it's kind of one song) then try Hooker with a Penis, and then Aenema. I was a late bloomer into Tool but now I love them. Great stuff.
Dominika I think you nail your thoughts and feelings relative to tool right on the head. You often apologize for your attempts to convey what you think and feel, and you shouldn't. Yes - she made complete sense again. That's why people like us really dig this channel
Thank you 😊
Tool reactions are the best reactions, and YOUR Tool reactions are the best Tool reactions. Top tier ✌🏽🌀
I did some muchroom listening to tool. When i woke Up i saw a violet mandala. The Lyrics are so good . Nice react 😍

This is 100% their best song. I love the pot etc etc but this…..this is not just their best song but one of the best songs ever written
@@mookiestewart3776 This track does have some impressive accolades. One declared it the best Rock song of the 21st century.
I agree. Of all Tool songs, this one bro. I don’t quite know what it is. I just love this shit.
The lyrics in this song make you feel like you can be successful with anything you want, anything that bewilders you, as long as you KEEP GOING!

wise words from two of my favorite reactors.
oh you have soo much to experience from them. I'm really excited for you.
The climax of this song is sooooo fucking cathartic. I'm in tears... again. Great reaction to a great song by a great band.

Great song, i think one of the longest track. Tool is sooooooooo big for me. I hope, that tool comes to switzerland.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh shit. I was waiting for you two to do this. Get ready. I really love your reviews. They are honest. I love them.
Thank you kindly 💚
its intended to be a mind numbing experience and the lyrics always mean something , they are like storytellers that take your mind on a journy
To me, Tool is the sonic equivalent of a Van Gogh painting. Every brush stroke is layered. Like all great artists they show the difference between art and Art.
Your english is soooooo nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The jumping into something to experience something new is why I tried Tai Chi and that has changed my life so much.

Going to see them next weekend in Vegas!
You couldn't have said it better.
Tool hits for me on those things about human existence that is difficult to convey within the constraints of human language.
Tool is a spiritual awakening, hence the name Tool. It is a tool to use to open your mind.
