Best reaction artist on youtube right here, BAR NONE. Man you are the best. I have listened to them all, you are the best. Rock on ! I hope you hit a million plus subs.
This is always one of my favorites for people discovering TOOL. The entire premise of the song is expanding your mind and immersing yourself in new experiences. You listening to this for the first time is literally the embodiment of the song itself. Keep it up bro.
That and it's amazing how many references to other things there are embedded in the lyrics of this song. For example, when Maynard says "Feed my Will" he in many way means "Will" in the same way Aleister Crowley defines "Will" as your "True Self."
Maynard James Keenan’s vocals during the first few minutes of Lateralus form a Fibonacci sequence. The number of syllables progress to the sixth step, then back down to the first step; up to the seventh step, and then back to the fourth step: [1] black[1] then [2] white are [3] all I see [5] in my infancy [8] red and yellow then came to be [5] reaching out to me [3] lets me see [2] there is [1] so [1] much [2] more and [3] beckons me [5] to look through to these [8] infinite possibilities [13] as below so above and beyond I imagine [8] drawn outside the lines of reason [5] push the envelope [3] watch it bend The Fibonacci sequence shares a relationship with Phi, the golden ratio. The golden ratio is used to describe spirals, which are mentioned several times in the lyrics: “Swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be human”, “Spiral out, keep going” twice, and “Spiral out, keep going.” five times. Also, Keenan first begins singing 1 minute and 37 seconds into the song, which equates to 1.617 minutes (the golden ratio = approximately 1.618). The time signatures of the chorus change from 9/8 to 8/8 to 7/8, symbolizing a spiral. In addition, the number 987 is part of the Fibonacci sequence.
Btw its not just the lyrics. Nearly every mathematical measure bout the instruments is compatible with the fibonacci sequence as well. In really complex ways to the point where i wanna make a joke about divine intervention but it wouldnt really be a joke. NOBODY MAKES MUSIC LIKE THIS!!! Its unfathomable how they made lyrics, atnosphere, sound and MATH come together full circle with the message and philosophy.
the whole album is set up this way, down to the arrangement of the songs, the music, every effin thing, pretty insane if you think about it it's a mathematical masterpiece
Man bro, this song was made to the mathematical Fibonacci sequence. You have to watch the "Lyrics and meaning" version of this. It will blow your mind.
Leon Russell I understand, but this man has more depth of thought. He understands how broad in perspective MJK's lyrics are without the details surrounding how their music is created. And put together, I think he'd get it, and love it. BTW... The guys make the music, before Maynard writes the lyrics, so these men are on a different playing field when it comes to their music and lyrics. That's why they are my favorite band ever.
A perfect circle - Orestes It's the same lead singer from Tool and it happens to be one of the most hypnotic songs I've ever heard. I recommend this song to anyone in the comments.
Every Tool album has a distinct sound and feeling man. Their earlier work was harder and as they aged they became more and more complex in their music. The one constant though is Maynard's voice and lyrical prowess. And with all the suggestions for Tool songs here in the comments, they are all GOOD. There is no bad Tool song.
Parabol+Parabola, Schism, The grudge, sober, 10.000 days, H, Roseta Stonned...damn theres so much from Tool that will blow your mind... Cannot wait too see whats next! Spiral out and keep going!
If/when he gets to Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned, he’s not gonna know what to do with himself. His mind is no doubt going to be a nuclear wasteland. Lose his shit. Flawless Victory guaranteed.
You really need to go see them live when they come to your area, your head will explode. Maynard might not be able to hit the notes like he used to, he is 54, but they are absolutely insane live.
Dude you are TRULY the King of Reactions and Tool can never be categorized as anything but TOOL!!!!!We don't listen to Tool,We EXPERIENCE BRILLIANCE!!!!
You have been wanting to do an album review of tool. This is the one!!!!!! Don't listen to anymore songs off it. Pull the trigger man!!!! We will all watch it
TOOL put this song together based off of the Fibonacci number sequence. Not in regards to what they are singing about but how they put everything together and the rhythm they sing in
It is so refreshing to watch someone authentically being pulled in and mesmerized by this music for the first time. You can see it gettting it's meat hooks in you, and I appreciate it so much! I was there once, too. You can never get that first impression (and be blown away) TWICE, but THIS is the closest thing! Awesome man! You got a new sub. Keep going!
Lateralus is one of the best songs and albums of the last 2-3 decades! Other great tracks from that album: The Grudge, Eon Blue Apocalypse/The Patient, Schism, Parabol/Parabola, Ticks n' Leeches
Its quite simple actually. Once you realize the snare always follows the 2nd opening of the hi hat it's simple to learn. Plus its just a one measure pattern in 5. The snare is always on 4. probably the easiest part of the song for the drums actually. The only difficultly is that the Bass and Guitar are playing in different meters so in a live setting you would have to focus on your rhythm and mostly ignore the others.
As much as I love Danny Carey, there are people who can learn to play anything with enough practice. However those same people can't create the brilliance like this to begin with. There a vid of a fucking 11 year old who basically nails Ticks and Leeches, for example.
I wrote a 6 page essay on this song for university a few months ago, best thing I have ever written. Can't wait to see you react to The Grudge, it will blow your mind.
I love your Tool reactions. You get it. They're just different. Hard to put your finger on it. Musically they find a way to take simple chord progression and twist it like a rubics cube in every different combination and package it all up into a masterpiece. And Maynard's lyrics are so infectious. From the writing to delivery. Actually I find that everything they play I've somehow felt inside me at some point and then there it is, they shown a light on it, it's amazing! You got to check out Puscifer. Maynard's personal music project. His last album, Money Shot is unbelievable.
You've introduced me to a couple new artists and for that I thank you. It's wicked to see someone discover Tool for the first time also. My first time was 1993 and I finally saw them live in 2001. Keep enjoying the tunes and we will continue to enjoy your reactions.
I’ve been a faithful Tool fan since 95 when I heard them at middle school in the parking lot waiting on the bus to go to a baseball game. That moment forever changed my life. So glad you found Tool or basically anything Maynard touches.
This song has so many layers, on the surface it’s about nature because it’s based on the formula that creates the Fibonacci spiral. The Fibonacci spiral is seen in things as small as snail shells and as large as galaxies, our finger length is also based on the same mathematical structure. Tool also touches on being born as a small scared blind being.
If you go back on 46&2, watch the most viewed lyric video on it (like 33 million) because it gives a lot of insight into the meanings in the lyrics during the song and you will be amazed.
The first time I saw this song performed live, it changed my life. It was 11/3/01 (the first time I saw them live) and I still have a vivid visual of Maynard’s movements throughout. It was mesmerizing.
You’re right, it’s poetry. Each song feels like a story and they all have that build up and climax I love, just when you think they can’t blow your mind any more your pupils just blow open. Wait until you see them live, it really radiates through you
you know what will blow your mind even more, how this song not only talks about what the Golden Sequence (Fibonacci sequence) is, but its also preformed with in the Golden Sequence formula.
The history of all this album is this: when that guys travel to costa rica the band goes to ceremony of ayahuasca, in the same ceremony the guys know alex grey, the song lateralius is the conversation between the chaman and the singer in front of 15 guys include alex grey
Hey P. When the song grows on you a bit more, watch the official TOOL clip. The ending imagery is burnt in my mind forever. Great reaction man, keep it up!
This song is like a powerbar to the mind...to the soul...deeper than any other song ever created. That's what I have felt as a listener for years to this song. Its inspirational while being mystical. So unique.
This will be looked back on as masterpiece. IT is the golden ration on rythm, lyric tempo, much more butrhe lyric meaning of the universe and the golden rule the spiral that controls it ALL.
I remember when this album first hit. I had pre ordered and one of my best friends (still) came home (drove 100 miles). We went and picked up the CD, got back home and drove backroads in a lightening storm listening for the first time. Unforgettable experience!
It's pretty cool to see his facial expressions during the song cause you could see him connecting to the music and really getting into the lyrics. It was a very genuine and pure reaction.
I think reading the lyrics to right in two would give the song a deeper meaning.... it speaks so much to human nature just my opinion. Keep up your awesome videos and keep smiling!!!
I've seen Tool live 10 times. For what its worth the only song they have played all 10 times is Stinkfist. I'd would like to see you review Tool - jimmy or Hooker With a Penis next. By the way, you have me singing "Don DeMarco" all day at the show room in the dealership i work for. Or saying finish him, when i go out to close a deal.
Bro it's awesome watching someone evolve into a Tool fan. I have been a fan of Tool since I first heard them in the early 90's. Saw them live for the first time in 1997 right after ÆNIMA came out. It was one of the best shows I have seen still to this day. I have seen them multiple times. The one show that stood out the most to me was Tool at Bonnaroo in 2007. I had some really good LSD that I had saved just for the occasion. One of the best nights of my life. I wish I could put into words what that show means to me. Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine came out and played with them toward the end of the show. Life changing experience to say the least.
Hey man I’m loving your reactions keep em going pls!! Lyric videos are cool on Tool because of the crazy amount of thought that Maynard puts in every word but this way you miss a lot of the amazing things they do with the instruments. For example my favorite part is after the solo when they start playing in diferent rythms within the guitar, bass and drums to unsync and create tension only to be liberated at a single beat were they all sync in to start the process again. That I find genious!! Hope you take a listen to that and keep growing and getting more reactions out there!! Cheers from Spain!
King KTF I totally get how you are blown away by TOOL ... I've been listening to metal all my life and I just discovered TOOL a couple of months ago and they are by far the best band i have ever heard ... they take music to a new level ... I can't get enough of them.
It means go after the girl you want, go after the life you want, don't shy away from anything embrace the random. CARPE DIEM!!!! Do Deftones Digital Bath next
The part where you said "This song was 9 mins long, but I don't feel like I sat here for 9 minutes" is the exact thing all the people who like this music have come to understand. Welcome to the ride!
I was 19 and just had my first child. I didnt know how to drive yet and it took me an hour in a half to drive back to my house this was the first song that played on the radio when I got in the car. This was in 2002, and I remember wiping tears from my eyes while driving because this song hit my soul so hard.
Thank you!!! We all expected Lateralus ... great right? please try it with "Right where it belongs" of NIN (Nine inch nails) and you will discover another great band. Please please please 🤘
And then you dissect the lyrics, and you realize all of that detail was to troll you, because the song is about over-analyzation and reading too much into things.
Or you could just appricate the song for what it is.... Fucking awesome. Don't overthink, just enjoy. 💚 Then look into the meaning and disect if that is what you want to do. Whatever floats your boat ✌
One thing I absolutely love about this music reaction channel trend is that most of them seem to eventually end up reviewing some type of rock/metal, if they are not centered around the genres entirely, and it is exposing what we love about this often misunderstood genre to an entirely new audience. I've seen so many people fall in love with bands I have loved for so long, that probably never would have found this music without this type of channel on UA-cam. People are beginning to understand, en mass, the allure of this type of music and the depth it keeps safely tucked away from those who judge to harshly. If you give it a chance, there's a good probability that something you hear will resonate and mean more to you than you ever thought possible, but those who are too closed minded to dip their toes in the water will never reap the rewards and joy that come from feeling metal coursing through your blood.
i love seeing the joy in you at discovering new music. you have a genuine appreciation for all aspects of the songs you are witnessing for the first time and the work that goes into them
I’ve heard this song a million times including watching this reaction three times and I continue to learn something new about the song every time! God bless tool and james Maynard Keenan the god of anything he touches 💪🏼
I am so happy I discovered your videos tonight! Been watching you for hours. I love watching you fall in love with all these wonderful songs for the first time :)
Best reaction artist on youtube right here, BAR NONE. Man you are the best. I have listened to them all, you are the best. Rock on ! I hope you hit a million plus subs.

Best hard rock song out these imo
Ruckus Malone amen 🙏🏻
Agreed. Worst part about watching these is all the other reactors UA-cam recommends.
Yep!
You said, "Tool is my favorite...for right now."
Bruh, when Tool becomes your favorite, Tool stays your favorite forever.
Indeed true
Truth!
10/4
And that’s the truth
This is 10,000% true
"I love slow intros"
"show me some drum solos."
This man is going to really like some Tool.
My first tool song and i remember i listened just lateralus song a month.
The Grudge is good for that too.
Ain’t no way any real tool fan is gonna stop you from running that shit back. Do it every time. OGT
Yup. Every time, Im like "Please do" ... ... "bruh"
*helps that I love MK
Hey buddy 😂
All the way back to 92
You can point that fucking finger up your AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSS
With a dope Beastie tee, nipple rings, new tattoos.
Maynard James Keenan’s vocals during the first few minutes of Lateralus form a Fibonacci sequence. The number of syllables progress to the sixth step, then back down to the first step; up to the seventh step, and then back to the fourth step:
[1] black[1] then
[2] white are
[3] all I see

[8] red and yellow then came to be
[5] reaching out to me
[3] lets me see
[2] there is
[1] so
[1] much
[2] more and
[3] beckons me
[5] to look through to these
[8] infinite possibilities
[13] as below so above and beyond I imagine
[8] drawn outside the lines of reason
[5] push the envelope
[3] watch it bend
The Fibonacci sequence shares a relationship with Phi, the golden ratio. The golden ratio is used to describe spirals, which are mentioned several times in the lyrics:
“Swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be human”, “Spiral out, keep going” twice, and “Spiral out, keep going.” five times. Also, Keenan first begins singing 1 minute and 37 seconds into the song, which equates to 1.617 minutes (the golden ratio = approximately 1.618).

PessottiHimself Jesus Christ this blew my mind
Unreal. Thank you for this.
This ☝️

the whole album is set up this way, down to the arrangement of the songs, the music, every effin thing, pretty insane if you think about it
it's a mathematical masterpiece
I hope you go back and listen with headphones. So much detail in the production.
TOOL loves to build tension. Every song they play, they build tension then releases it so beautifully! Can you give them a flawless victory?
It's called a crescendo.
Yeah, i know that.
'You Lied' builds tension perfectly with that solo into the final scream... totally different atmosphere that song but oh man... goosebumps..
@@kylecarsten1456 You don't have to build tension with only crescendo.
pretty much why the shining is iconic
TOOL, the thinking man's metal. My absolute favorite band ever! lovin watching you experience it all for the first time!!
This is the song that made me appreciate how good Tool is. It's simply a masterpiece.
Look up “How Tool uses the fibanachi sequence” on UA-cam and be even more blown away. This song is 100% written by a natural math sequence
Man bro, this song was made to the mathematical Fibonacci sequence. You have to watch the "Lyrics and meaning" version of this. It will blow your mind.
Donald Rodriguez the problem with that lyric video is that they focus too much on all the information and not on that actual song itself
Leon Russell Says who? The fist time I saw this I was thoroughly involved in big the music and information
Donald Rodriguez I mean as a reaction video, if seen a few reactions with it and they focus more on the fibonacci thing than the song itself.

It's the same lead singer from Tool and it happens to be one of the most hypnotic songs I've ever heard. I recommend this song to anyone in the comments.
That's my favourite one from them.
Oh, that song shakes my core. He should totally react to APC.
And Magdalena
that live performance at stone and echo though!!!!

10,000 Days
Rosetta Stoned = BOSS
Yep!
As long as he remembers his pen he’ll be fine
Yes my man, Schism or The Grudge from this same album will take you to another level from Tool.
Yep, both amazing
Olly Hudson I love the patient and their remake of no quarter
The Grudge is so good. I'm looking forward to that one lol
Can’t wait to see his reaction to Maynard’s scream in The Grudge. 25 seconds of wtf.
Man, excited about that but I can't wait until Hooker with a Penis lvl
You really need to go see them live when they come to your area, your head will explode. Maynard might not be able to hit the notes like he used to, he is 54, but they are absolutely insane live.
They sound the same in concert it's insane
Just saw them last Monday in Philly and last Friday in Atlantic City!!!!!
Saw them in Atlanta last week... Drove up from Daytona to check the boys out with my brother... We are bonded by this music... Much love
We will all watch it
Make sure to re-listen to these Tool songs with headphones cause it’s a different experience.
Ryan Garcia very valid point 😎
THIS! THIS! THIS! THIS!
TOOL- Rosetta Stoned is a must! Gotta read the lyrics while u listen tho.....TRUST ME!!!!!
You my man can rewind Tool as many times as you need! Respect ✊
TOOL put this song together based off of the Fibonacci number sequence. Not in regards to what they are singing about but how they put everything together and the rhythm they sing in
Cassie Contino They do mention spiraling out, the structure of the song could be a metaphor for continuous growth as a person.
Most of what they are talking about is reference to alchemy and alchemical patterns.
Never ceases to amaze me.
The noticed the sequence after it was mostly written
The syllables of the lyrics actually follow the Fibonacci sequence with itch is absolutely mind blowing when you think about it
It is so refreshing to watch someone authentically being pulled in and mesmerized by this music for the first time. You can see it gettting it's meat hooks in you, and I appreciate it so much! I was there once, too. You can never get that first impression (and be blown away) TWICE, but THIS is the closest thing! Awesome man! You got a new sub. Keep going!
Listen again, but with good headphones! This is my all time favorite Tool song, and Tool is my favorite band.
you gotta listen with some good quality headphones to really appreaciate the layers in tools music man
Lateralus is one of the best songs and albums of the last 2-3 decades!
Other great tracks from that album: The Grudge, Eon Blue Apocalypse/The Patient, Schism, Parabol/Parabola, Ticks n' Leeches
Check Parabola/Parabol from this same album great song, all this album is a masterpiece
Carlos Martinez it’s my fav
Duna.....duna!......duna.......danada.....
It's fitting that you listened to this song while wearing a Bulls hat, since this is the Michael Jordan of songs.
Also, GO BULLS!!!
The drums around the 10:30 is just an impossible pattern that only Danny Carey can do.
Josh Moore I agree. I've attempted to play it on drums and failed quicker than my drug test
Its quite simple actually. Once you realize the snare always follows the 2nd opening of the hi hat it's simple to learn. Plus its just a one measure pattern in 5. but I can play it
Lateralus is one of their best albums. Gotta check The Grudge and Schism soon!

Love Digital Bath!
You should listen to tool parabol/parabola.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The part where you said "This song was 9 mins long, but I don't feel like I sat here for 9 minutes" is the exact thing all the people who like this music have come to understand. Welcome to the ride!
Your ready for THE GRUDGE
You’re the best!!! My I suggest schism next, or whatever you pick because you never disappoint!!! Peace!
Endless tripping nights listening to Tool. Every instrument, every chord every bar. Tool helps you meditate. Let them guide.
Fam, you must do homework to fully appreciate this song and its relation to the Fibonacci sequence
And then you dissect the lyrics, and you realize all of that detail was to troll you, because the song is about over-analyzation and reading too much into things.
Let alone the insane poly rhythms. PhD level stuff here. So fn awesome. Love this band
TheGalwayjoyce That's not what it means, at all.
🤯
Or you could just appricate the song for what it is.... Fucking awesome. Don't overthink, just enjoy. 💚
Then look into the meaning and disect if that is what you want to do. Whatever floats your boat ✌
Second video I've watched from you. I love it man. You make a clear note of everything I love about music. Keep it up brother!
React to tool aenima
Wesley Anderson or third eye

To be fair, No Quarter is a Led Zeppelin song. Covered by Stool ( Stool, cuz they're the shit!) 😂
I’ve heard this song a million times including watching this reaction three times and I continue to learn something new about the song every time! God bless tool and james Maynard Keenan the god of anything he touches 💪🏼
I love watching someone “find” TOOL. It’s like watching yourself realize the gravity of it all, all over again.
Knew you'd like lateralus and Jambi, I think you will also like Parabol/Parabola
Alice In Chains - "Don't Follow"
I respect how the creator of the lyric video actually wrote the lyrics according to the sequence.
I am so happy I discovered your videos tonight! Been watching you for hours. I love watching you fall in love with all these wonderful songs for the first time :)
