So will the m60 timing set bolt right up to the m62 cams.. my m62b44 jumped time yesterday, and i have a m60 in my s10 that im thinking about robbing the duplex chain system out of.. i would swap the heads as well but i dont have nowhere to retune the car.
@unknownswaps ok. Thanks for the info.. when I get the m60 tore apart. I'll post back. I've been looking for some days and can't find any info on it.. I do know the timing chain cover has to be used when swapping to m60 heads and timing set.
I didn't hone the block, just cleaned it, no wear marks were on it and it was measured, all cyl in great shape Used new goetze rings, for now all looks ok, no blowby After dyno will try to make compression test and endoscope to see inside just to be sure all is ok
@@unknownswaps I'm currently playing with several m62tu blocks. I tried just re ringing on original bores once in 2016 but had immediate large volumes of oil smoke. This past summer I hand buffed An-30 compound on bore with the block in chassis with piston at BDC and had a real improvement on leakdown #'s and reduced oil burning. Next I'll try a true felt honing on the cyl wall and reusing the original rings. The theory being that the cyl wall is the wear surface and not the harder chrome faced rings in this case.
@@JesseBreakshow many m62 blocks you got? I have two m60s and I need an m62 block for my build. I can’t find one and there’s very little info on these builds out there
@@thatoneBMWguy I have about 3 spare blocks on hand, however I'm in Alberta Canada so unsure how affordable it would be to ship 300+ lb very far. I'll release some more information on rebuilding these on my channel, but finding it hard to remember to film while doing the work.
Yes everything with heads and whole timing assembly is from m60b40 engine block, crank pistons and rods are m62b44(bigger stroke and bore) one of modifications to make this combo is installing chain sprocket from m60 on m62 crank because double row chain You can see that in the video on 4:05 🙂
awesome job buddy! looking for the part 2
Awesome job! Thanks for the vid. Where did you get the rod bolts from? I'm looking for a new set but all I can find is quite expensive for 16 bolts...
Tnx, for the rod bolts as I know only options are oem from bmw service or arp, both expensive as you said 😕

Not sure, these are m60heads with m60 cams and cams from 4.4 don't fit 4.0 head, can you just change sprockets I don't know

Dude, you cut off the crescendo!!!
Did you use m60 or m62 head gasket? lol
Did you hone the block using sunnen An-30? Were piston rings reused and have you have any issue with oil burning or ring seal?

Any updates @JesseBreaks
Super video
Tnx
Will m62tu change this build
I had good m62 engine block so I did this to get extra 400ccm. Some people did it with m62tu engine
Taking it to Lock City drift?
Not in my area :) I am from Croatia (europe)
So wait !!!! You put M60 head's on M62 ....and how you put the double chain !!?? M60 krankshaft ???? On M62 ...it fitts ?? 😬😬

@@unknownswaps nothing custom you need to make it fit m62 what about m62 tu??
@@Mena6e.c7 as I know m62 and m62tu engine blocks are the same, only m62tu has slots in pistons for valves, and m62 has flat pistons
