great video, its awsome to see more people buidling with the m60/m62,, people are starting to actually realize the power/longevity of these motors!!
I think same. M60/M62 aint so bad engines. Yes, they have problems with cylinder, but so far if cylinder are okay, they are strong and great engines
Got one On my channel as well if you wanna see more!
The VAC Motorsport Race engine m60 is legit 🔥

Let’s chat about it
what a vibe i got from watching this ! A TRUE MASTER piece, done by a master, well fucking done mate
Thank you, just thank you! My 740i just ate its timing chain guides the other day and I don't have the cash to fix her up but this is just soothing :)
Not much m60 content out there but this was such a gem! 🫡
Thanks!
I recently bought a 730i E32 with the m60. Sounds amazing and it's still running after 6 years of being abandoned
That's making love to an engine!! Amazing work. Wish you did the M62TU with Vanos.
As m60b40 owner, amazing work! It was a joy to watch.
Wish I had a new engine for my 2001 740il, love your work.
Lovely work. That is how I'd like the motor in my E39 535i rebuilt.
Здравствуйте! Вы очень хороший мастер. Всё так чисто и аккуратно и главное вся работа понятно изложено в видео.
Thank you very much!!
@@rookiezgarage9844 А Вы сталкивались с двигателем м30. 35?
I been waiting and searching online for this kinda info...lets go....got a 4.4 been seating around for 7 months now
Got one in my (1999) E39 535i Msport silver. Just coming up to 24 years old (39000) miles….steve 🇬🇧
Wicked seeing more of those being built! I’ve documented one myself, let me know if you ever need anything or any parts 👍🏼
subbed
Thanks! Will do!
Ay what parts you got
Could I get the info from the build?
Awesome, M60B40 cilinder heads on a M62B44 Block perfect for me...
Wow beautiful thank you for showing it to us
Man, very well put together 🙌🏻 the M60 and the video ✊🏻 Most don’t know how much work goes into creating good vids 👍🏻
Thank you very much 😎
Amazing work. Well done
Thanks!!
dangg very proper build with proper tools
Great video thank you!👌
Would you be willing to put up a full parts list? I have a 94 540i and want to refresh the engine soon. Doing research on what parts to get.
I’d love to know if you had to replace anything along the way, or “just” a tear down and rebuild , as if that’s an easy task…. Great work and video. Thank you,
I was wondering what torque specs did you use for the crank bolts and head bolts? Also are those OEM bolts or something else?
so slick so clean so new... GOD this engine is going to be like new with proper care will run for ever! I admire your skills and in a good way I envy you :)
Thank you very much!! 😉
Yeah, I am watching your film of your awesome work all over again and I keep dreaming"
Great Video Budy, Keep Going
Nice work...I was not aware that the m60 cams were a more sporty then the m62 .. would nice to keep us updated on how it performs
Thanks! Well yeah, M60 cams has little bit more duration and valve lift. Not so much, but still possible to pick up few ponies :D
M60 better than s62
Glad to see a m60 build. Mind telling me the parts cost? Thinking of rebuilding a m62 out a e38 my dad has had for 30 years
I was at awww amazing job one day I hope we get to see a m70 or s85.
Hi. Did you have the cylinders honed or prepped for the new rings?
How did you get the finish so clean on the block and heads?
I’ve just rebuilt my m60b40, but you done it much professionally. Oil injector I have never seen
M60 doesnt have oil squirters. The 4.4 had them later as far as i can tell
Awesome video, I have a quick question for you though. I'm currently building an m62 of my own and having trouble finding information on the main cap spacer bushings that sit against the block. Did you replace these at the time of the rebuild? Thanks
What pistons and rods are used, can’t seem to find any options for the m62?
can you put links or part numbers to the double row timing assembly please and thank you.
Hey man did you felt hone with sunnen an-30? Did you reuse piston rings?
You wouldnt happen to have the part# for the center sprocket for the primary timing chain would you? I have an e39 '99 wagon and a 2000 740i with the m62TU I've been toying with the idea of swapping out the center U guide with a chain sprocket.
Go ahead 11 31 1 736 162 , i hope its right one
I have an M62NV and I'm thinking of doing the same.
Awesome bro but it would be better if u name each part you install some i figured them out and some i didn't. keep going 👍
Will there be any follow up videos of this? I'd love to see more.
Mootor paigaldati e30 cabriole. Sellest autost tuleb eraldi video sel suvel
Very nice Video! What kind of cylinder head assembly tools do you have?
Thanks! For assembly and disassembly I use goodson replica bench, that makes installing and removing valves easier. For valve seat surfacing I have Mira vgx21 and for valves Robins Vr5. Nothing special yet, every month try to improve and buy better tools to offer better quality
@@rookiezgarage9844 Thank you for your reply, where is it possible to find that goodson replica bench? Is it an accepteble price? Brand benches is very expensive
Really good video man. I’ve got an e34 540i and I’m trying to do the same build. Where did you get all the parts from to rebuild it? I can’t find a lot of things on the internet. Did you reuse some of the original components?
Probably BMW dealer?
From where can you buy correction conrod and crankshaft bearing to the M60?
Can you make a parts list or a parts breakdown? Also will this engine go into an E34 with the M62 bottom end without fab work?
Send me an email hans@rkz.ee and I give you parts list that is needed for overhauling. M62 bottom and m60 heads, you can use m62 timing gears and chains, only need to modify timing covers lil bit.
Can this setup work on the e39 and how much power does it make
I want to ask about parts or if you can tell me where i can find it in website?
I’m a fan
Hello loved this video iam thinking to make a dream of years come true so my question is can I fit an engine m60/62 to my E36 Regards !!
Yes.
Hi ! In this video the engine is m60 non vanus ? Or m62 ? Thanks from all my heart if you answer to me ! ❤
Link to site to buy those parts at please
Very satisfying video video watch 😎🔥
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Fck yes its about time...i been looking all over. For thr past 5 years i get to know those m62 very well. I wanted to know if anybody ever built one cuz im going the same route...
P.S please list list the critical tools i would need...beside the timing tool kit...
for the M62 block, did you have to do any machining to fit the double timing chain idler gear or does the M62 block have the mount and threaded holes already setup to mount that?
Everything is already there. The m60 stuff bolts straight up. There is an oil feed hole that lubriates the U guide on the m62 block that needs to be tapped and blanked with a bolt but other than that everythig can be transfered across 😎
Good job
Thanks!!
I loved it ✌
Thanks
Thanks for sharing
Im gonna rebuild my m62 tu and i wonder if you can help me I need the torque specs for the main bearings and connecting rods along with the head bolts torque help me please
Sure, send me email hans@rkz.e
Great video, although personally I'd rather hear talking of what you're doing, torque specs, etc. Then a follow up video with dyno numbers.
No s62 parts would be good??
at the end you could show whole engine how it looks around, each side, not some zoom like you did. And even better would be if we can hear it like it works. I understand it was maybe not your engine so it could be problem to hear it. But at least you could show like this engine looks complete.
Did you apply anything to the valve cover gaskets to help them seal? I replaced mine because they were leaking oil, and they started leaking again (mostly from the half-moon areas).
You didn’t seat it properly
Add a lil sealer on the half moons and corners
Or your valve cover is warped
Yes, you need to add seal on half moons and then it should be okay. And ofcorse, you need to tighten valve covers with right torque. Its really easy to rip cover bolt threads from cam caps and its pain to ass repair
@@beukye This is a huge one most miss. If your covers are all flaky and swollen looking, just replace them. They are likely warped and will seep from the half moons and also the grommets.
Poor design on these covers. No bolts at the rear. Could have used at least 1 to help with clamping force.
friend I have a question, where do I find the tightening torques of the crankshaft mounts?
send me an email johnmumbo77@gmail.com i will send you the workshop manual,it has all the torques and engine overhaul procedures
do youo have video of engine wiring and testing on engine stand?
Unfortunatly nope :(
How much for a rebuild like this?
From witch model its crankshaft ? Its forged ? Blue colour in bmw means its super strong
most likely the m5
👍👍👍
Did you use the timing procedure for the M62 or the m60 engine?
The timing procedure is pretty much the same for both. Same locking jigs used. Only difference is the balance shaft/sprocket on the M60 vs ghetto U guide rail on the M62.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Someone please make a set of metal guides….
does it work with both M62 non vanos and M62TU block?
Yes, the TU block can be used. The TU has distinctive valve reliefs on piston crowns.
So if if u wanted bigger cam it would be big m60 cam
why did you choose the mechanical throttle over the electric
Not my decision. It had mechanical trhottle from factory. M62TUB engines has electric throttle
Please don’t add music next time 😩we want to hear the metal sounds
Awesome build video man. Do you also rebuild M30s?
Can these block be sleeve ?
Yes. There are a lot of sleeved M62 blocks here in Poland. It is often the only option as these engines are known to eat their cylinder walls.
what about engine management?
Stock M62 ecu , no need to change
@@rookiezgarage9844 what is being done for tuning? This definitely needs tuned.
@@rookiezgarage9844 what crankshaft was used to allow you to run a dual chain instead of a single like the m62 has stock?
I was told that the bmw engines don't work right when rebuilt . is that true?
What a stupid excuse of someone who doesn't know how to fix them.
9:19 a vary bad idea to put an internal hex anywhere on the engine, especially in that place. They also look to me as inox, which is also a very bad idea because electrochemical corrosion between aluminium and inox is extremely high.
The risk of the oil pump nut coming off is a bigger risk.
@@southothehighway what?
@@southothehighway He's talking about the valley pan cover in the Vee of the engine.
I don't personally see an issue with with using an Allen bit bolt on there. If torqued to spec, you shouldn't have a problem.
If they are indeed stainless steel (inox), that could definitely be a problem however.
Come and do mine!
yeah so that timing system was too reliable so they had to replace that central upper sprocket with that stupid U guide on the TU version. techincal upgrade my ass xd
Nice video. Music is horrible.
technically maybe a good video, but music totally out of place
Hated the soundtrack. Best viewed as a silent movie.
engine assembly with rebuilt parts , useless.
I would love to contact u
