I'm from KC and had friends move here from Antioch back in 2002ish, they introduced Woodies music to me. They would always say that he is telling a real story about murders that happened in their town. I have been listening for 20 plus years and kind of knew the story but this explains a lot of missing details. I still listen to his music constantly, He made a huge impact on me and my lifestyle. "The way you feel" was played at my one of my best friends funeral.
Woodie was definitely ahead of his time. He embodied the true spirit of the bay and put himself on through his independent grind. This documentary helps shed light on the songs I grew up listening to as a teenager in the bay and the situations that led up to it. He’ll forever live on through his music, stays on heavy rotation up to now.

@@jwithington9347gangster is letting one of your homies do time for a crime you committed? Not to mention, off himself over a female? Yeah. Sounds hella gangster.
@Mcali1984 apart from the 100% ice cold psychopathic gangsters I'm sure plenty of men could be driven to that point. The whole point of what I posted is that by rap standards he is about as gangster as it gets (shooting people dead, stabbing them with a sword) if he was any further into that life he wouldn't of been rapping. Nowadays those drill artists will kill people then snitch on themselves in songs and go to prison, but when woodie was making music some of the most gangster rappers were either in prison for life (x-raided) or shot dead (sinister, seagram, kilo g, sporty t, soulja slim, blade icewood). Obviously rappers aren't going to be doing everything in their songs but woodie was on about the same level as the likes of project pat, c-bo and beanie sigel in terms of his gang involvement and trips to prison.
Woodies music was all his own, he made his own beats and did 7+albums. His music is deep and and so was he ! Intelligent but inflicted mind, Saturated with depicted crimes, living in apocalyptic times ! That's one of his lines. He was a gangster rapper for sure !

Such a sad story now I see why people say you get nothing out of that lifestyle and it’s best to stay in school. Hopefully, Justice will be served, and Snoop will be released.
Hopefully he will be released, the damage has already been done. Definitely doesn't make up for the decades stolen from him but at least he will be rich when he gets out, hopefully he is ready to file against the city and state
Well yeah once you join death is the only way out. Unless you get into a good witness protection program. Either you leave and they are out to kill you, you get killed by rivals or you catch a case. It's unlikely he will get released. For one, police despise admitting they were wrong. Then they have an unsolved case which they don't like. On top of that they will probably have to pay him. The cherry on top is police departments like LAPD are known to be corrupt. They will work with judges and prosecutors to keep the truth concealed. They have no motive at all for releasing him and a massive motive keeping him locked up.
It would bring up too many questions about how an innocent person could be charged with a crime he didn't commit, let alone convicted!? The people who are responsible for the case are too high up in politics to be held responsible!?
In 2012 my boy who's a northerner put me on to woodies music while we was in the Navy. I wish I'd heard his music years b4 but I got late night shmobbin on repeat til this day. It's dope & also bittersweet to see the stories come to life. Great journalism.

I’ve spent many years with Northerners from Antioch and throughout California. I personally know the story of Snoops innocence. Unfortunately Northerners are forbidden from doing interviews which is why you don’t see them on UA-cam or having UA-cam channels. But I promise you if they did the world would know that every single thing that Woddie rapped was more than real. I shall say no further. RIP WOODIE. The greatest Norteno rapper of all time.

@Cuete590 Eastside Vicky's town is still around, but some moved to Manteca to avoid the heat. Back in the day We used to hang around Sinclair and Brown lane posted at the dead end to watch the cars coming in. Southside Vicky's town is defunct as they didn't bang as hard and recruited alot of paisas, giving them a bad rep as SSS punked them alot. Playboys used to have alot of hangout spots. They had some presence on Jamestown in the north and mainly hung out in Hazelton and at the mariani slanging dope to crackheads.. Another hotspot for Sureños used to be on Wilson Way, but this was way back in the late 90s. VST was big, but as the 90s ended Playboys got bigger and had some serious hitters from southside playboys and eastside playboys from LA . Then the feds came down and almost ended them and deported the dangerous ones out. Yeah Sureños are in low numbers in Stockton Norteños always were everywhere, but as the bay area migration came in alot of Norteño from Hayward, Oakland, San Jo and Antioch started to live there. Today I can say there is more common funk between themselves than seeking out Sureños in Stockton. I know Lodi has a strong hold, but they have been there for a while now. Some spots in small towns around Stockton have Sur and Norte.

First off I'm brand new to your channel, 1st episode I've watched. The amount of work you've put into this story, that I knew nothing of was outstanding. This was some BRILLIANT storytelling. My goodness, job well done man, keep up the good work. Had to subscribe. I've seen violence, crimes drugs, thugs, gangs. I've known many kids that didn't see 18 let alone 21. I never wanted any part of it so I don't understand this mentality fully. How in the world is rotting in prison for something you didn't do, covering for someone else showing loyalty? He is going to die in there. This is heartbreaking. Loyalty to your block that not gonna give you anything in return? I don't understand it. It's awfully tragic. There is no way for Snoop to be released. No one will tell the truth. Even if the truth comes out what kind of life will this man now have? The decades wasted, life is completely different from when he went in. Nothing is the same out here. I'm horrified the whole account was hard to hear but I'm deeply saddened for Snoop.
I grew up listening to woodie. I was young, listening to the lyrics I always wanted to learn more about the stories woodie told in his raps, this 15 years later answered some of my questions
Rest in peace Richard Orellana. His father and my father were friends, my mom cried for hours that night. That was one kid you couldn't judge by the group he hung out with. He was nothing like them. I can't listen to the song Angel Baby still to this day. That was the song they played at his funeral. From what I heard he was with his girlfriend at the time at the park and some guys came over the hill and he told her to run. You are gone but never forgotten Richard.
His friends weren’t bad either, Richard loved oldies, RIP that who thing with him was just a super wrong 😑 lace wrong time. 💯 Nostalgia. Great job bro putting this piece together. I thoroughly enjoy strolling down memory lane as sad as it is on this one. Only if he could have held on a little longer to see the fruits of his music take stock and uproot, he would have found enough strength worth wild to live for.
94 I was 14 and my closest friends were Latin Kings, Folk, and TCV down in Tampa Florida. If they didn’t get out of the gang life and become dads with beer guts, they were killed or put away for 20 years or more.
I went through all my high school years and even til this day knocking Woodie and all the Northern Expozure albums! Also met Woodie in my hometown a year before he passed. This was a perfectly put together video! I love the links to all the music and all of it makes a ton of sense to me now. Hearing some of the names, I could link them to the music and lyrics. It’s even more suspect if the confession is taped and the confessor commits suicide afterwards. The DA still wouldn’t prosecute me unless the could find more evidence to support my claim.
@@silkyslim521 I don’t want an innocent man to stay locked up either. Unfortunately, the only way he’s getting out is if new evidence and witness statements come out. #1 That means someone would have to break the criminal code and snitch. Someone would have to say “I was there with Woodie and saw him pull the trigger”. That would make the person who testifies, and any other 14’ers in the car, accessories to murder. Of course, the person who testifies would probably cut a deal, but his homeboys won’t be too happy. #2 The defense would have to dig up more than just a tape and testimony from a couple of old gang-bangers. They would need something like pictures, DNA, the murder weapon, clothing, etc. Even testimony from someone who was attending the Quinceañera wouldn’t be a 100% home run because it’s been so long. It sucks, but he’s not getting out until he gets paroled. It would probably help if Snoop just admitted to a murder he didn’t commit. Woodie, or whoever was guilty of the shooting, should have stepped forward when it happened. If he really cared.

Really? You must not know real norteños from Pittsburg then. He was a white boy that got to much clout
@lorenz6168 personally no I don't as I'm from another country but by rapper standards he's about as gangsta as it gets compared to most
@@jwithington9347gangster is letting one of your homies do time for a crime you committed?

Loyalty to your block that not gonna give you anything in return? I don't understand it. It's awfully tragic. There is no way for Snoop to be released. No one will tell the truth. @@dirty_d587 Bruh, I forgave you a long time ago. You came up to me at the bar, apologized and bought me drinks. We're cool, we can't hold on to the past. I do not and cannot hate you, as hate only serves to blind us.
@@abelhernandez7809your past follows you though
@@dirty_d587 takes a real man to admit you were wrong and the fact you regret it shows your character. Doesn't absolve you of what you did, but bro forgave you, means a lot. Good luck to both of you.
@@kelvinmorris1991 it does, but unless you have a time machine, you can't change it! Energy spent on regret would be better spent on doing good deeds NOW.
All I can say is if you from the bay and really listened to woodies music . You know what’s up . Woodies music is DEEP . There will NEVER be another 😢
Man ppl knew of him all the down in Modesto. I remember when he came to the homie fito studio in I think 95/96 I wanna say. Put a couple tracks down. Even Mac Dre came down later on in 2002.
Was in middle school when I first learned about Woodie and he died around that same time. I remember a kid next to me in computer class that was looking at an R.I.P. mural on MySpace.
Snoop knows who did it but stayed solid his boy lived the life crazy
It’s not fair him. He might have had hope his homie confessed so he can be free. Being inside is a slow death.
@@YABUKIJOE2077 a lot of songs he says loyalty but we’re was his loyalty
@@inglewoodpyro1233 he tried believing he can get his bro out without sacrificing his own freedom. But the stress eating him the longer he left the truth aside haunted him his whole life
Shout out to the person who created this video showing light on these individuals. God bless the Cause.
Even if they found a taped confession from a dead man, they would never let him out. That’s not how the law works.
That’s exactly how it works tho.
@@armandoperez3040 The tape alone wouldn’t do the trick. People make false confessions all the time and it doesn’t get people out of prison. It’s even more suspect if the confession is taped and the confessor commits suicide afterwards. Even if they believed the tape, there would have to be corroborating evidence, witnesses, etc. I could walk in to the Antioch police station tomorrow and confess to the crime. The DA still wouldn’t prosecute me unless the could find more evidence to support my claim.
But maybe a taped confession and an original witness statement saying it was a man with red/blonde hair would give him action.
Just in this video alone we see woodie with a revolver and his homie with a shotgun
Growing up in high school in the 90s were the best. Wish I could go back.
