    Thanks for the video. Yes surprised Jason didn’t make a 30+ minute video for this one! I do appreciate you going over the core features and sounds. I do see you have it right next to a QPAS. Wondering your opinion on them comparatively speaking, I know they are different types of filters but do you find yourself preferring one over the other in general and if so, why? I am torn between which one to get to pair with my incoming CS-L complex oscillator. I feel like QPAS, while a different brand, may be a more interesting pairing. Thoughts?

    Thanks for doing this. Not sure why instruo didn’t release their own version of this demo but yours is great

    I really wish i could see the whole patch. I loved the croaky vocal filter sound at around 6:39. How are you achieving that? I have this filter and I can't get these kinds of sounds out of it. Thanks!

    I’m three years late to the party, but thanks for this. Very informative and helpful. Glad you did this because Jason never covered this one

    Can the Pons Asinorum attack time be regulated? I watched a few movies and it looks like it was just a decay envelope. I also looked at the manual, but it turns out that either me or the boys from Noise Engineering were smoking weed.

    How is the tracking as a sine oscillator? I'm guessing pretty good if it has a fine tune knob but i've had some filters that claim to track 1v/oct that AREN'T EVEN CLOSE!

      Accurate for a few octaves - difficult to dial in though. If you you're looking for a filter that resonates and tracks accurately, highly recommend checking out the Serpens Sirius - has a clean output and distorted output so you get a really full sounding sine-ish wave and a kind of trapezoid shape, super cool for pinging :)

    I enjoy mine. It's very quirky and the fm input has a massive range. It's hard to wrangle but when you get it set right, it has a unique sound.

      Quadigy's great! Quite complex, but it's amazing having access to just about any envelope shape you can imagine

      @@Earther._ if i may ask, what are the advantages of quadigy over a 'standard' envelope generator such as intellijel dual ADSR? thank you

    • @Earther._
      @Earther._  4 роки тому +1

      @@drthorpe8602 Quadigy provides incredibly finite control over the shape and time of each part of your envelope, overkill for a lot of applications to be honest, but for example in this video's acidy sounds, tweaking the shapes of each section (between logarithmic, linear and exponential curves) proved to make a dramatic difference in achieving that natural plucky bounce we know and love. Previous envelope generators I've had either had it, or didnt.. I was amazed the difference having that level of control made, can really make the sound.
      It also has presets, bpm sync'd looping and a bunch of other nifty features

      @@Earther._ thank you for your reply! really appreciate it. yes, i'm interested in flexibility and pushing envelopes to their limits after being a bit disappointed with previous analog envelopes. might take the plunge hehe

      @@Earther._ @D R Thorpe I just got the filter and have had the Quadigy for a week. After my first experiences, I may sell both. The filter is either subtle or squealing...not sure if the sound is what Im after. Then with the Quadigy, I cannot get that thing to be a basic ADSR. The Quadigy is not as easy to operate as the interface implies.

    How do you compare it with QPAS?

    • @Earther._
      @Earther._  3 роки тому

      QPAS is a bouncy bloopy stereo animal of oddities, Instruo's a more classic vibe. Both nice designs

    Why is it called a filter? Isn't it a tone generator?

    • @TroyBlackford
      @TroyBlackford 3 роки тому +2

      It's not the source of the sound you're hearing: it's only filtering it. You can read in the description where the signal is coming from. (An oscillator) Everything in Eurorack comes in discrete modules.

    • @goonfish
      @goonfish 2 місяці тому +1

      Except many filters can become sine oscillators at peak resonance (hence the v/oct input), which is actually quite a common usecase and often built around as a feature. This is in-fact a multimode filter _and_ a resonator.
      Pinging the filter is literally pinging the filter into oscillation, with no signal at the input, as also seen in this video. And has it's own character because of the in-built tahn-shaped limiter & overall squelchiness (this is essentially a modern repro of the ARP2500's 1047 Resonator Filter, after all). So it's both processor & generator.
