Thanks, Daydream. The CsL has so much expressive potential and we wanted to put that across in the review. We consider modules only as a tool for making music, not the end in themselves.
I am just getting into modular . And what a great time to do it . Except no one has his stuff in stock After using computers for music sense the Atari 1040 came out the Instruo modules have me completely mesmerized. Visually and audibly. Thank you for demoing this in a very musical way. This and a arbhar will keep my brain twisted for awhile Both preordered thanks again
I am so happy with this. There are not too many video's/commentaries on this module, and those that do exist kept me in the dark on one, very important aspect: is it possible to make practical use of many outs at the same time? And it's a resounding "Yes!". It might come without saying to most, but I've been searching for this one snippet of info for 4 days, unsuccessfully. Thanks for putting my mind at rest, and thanks for the music!
Awesome video and patch. I found the same thing--Cs-L has instantly become the center of my system. Also impressed with the way Jason built on the idea of the Buchla 259 and other complex oscillators, and came up with an innovative module.
It's only available here. We put this small patch together just for the CsL demo. Head over to din.org.uk/album/t-l-graphe-din58 to check our album out
Thanks for the demo! But wait... *All* the sounds are being produced *simultaneously* by CsL?!? I'm very new to modular so I really wasn't expecting that. You can get >5 voices with different rhythms and pitches out of this things *at the same time*? If so, well, that very impressive.
Just wondering how you feel about this module after two years? I'm looking for a versatile oscillator and this seems, well er, sort of ridiculous.. I watched a lot of videos on several complex oscillators and I think this one just goes deeper than the verbos, furthrrrr etc.. Maybe the Brenso is as deep, just in a different way. Really great demo... Thank you...
Well, I must be an outlier but I have not seen a single demo of the CsL that impressed me...including this one. This could be due to many things: the choice of patches created for this video, the way the sound was recorded, a bias that I might have against it (I will leave that open as a possibility), and yes, the module itself. When stacked up against the likes of the mighty Make Noise DPO what I am hearing from the Instruo CsL doesn't really motivate me to investigate further or take a chance on a purchase. I really wanted to like this module because I think the panel design is sheer brilliance...but the sound leaves me cold.
Do you know if its possible to get a clean sample directly from the oscillator? I'd be really interested to compare the differences between the hardware version and the free VCV modules.
Sounds great...that sub out sounds massive! Is there any EQ boost of the bottom end or is it the dry sound (besides the delay anyway)? Brilliant patch, you may have sold some units with this video...got me GASing for sure...
I’m curious how you get that syncopated rhythm that inverses from time to time on the bass voice, i can see the sequencer moving rhythmically but you also seem to trigger maybe everystep with a syncope
One of the best modular reviews I've seen. Nice work and awesome sounding module. You may have just sold me on my first complex osc.

Amazing module aside, you have a knack for the review format. Very pleasant and natural delivery. Hope we get to see more.
Thanks!
Fantastic demo! Best I've seen yet, fantastic module Jason!
Love that patch, very musical, and very nice sound design.
Thanks man.
instablaster...

yes it is big challenge limited inventory most likely due to covid and lockdowns nobody can go anywhere so they stay home and buy modular gear.
Just one module and having 5 voices from it so clever and me further into Lúbath 🤩

You're very welcome ReFractalus. Thanks for the positive feedback
Wow, great video. My module wishlist never stops growing...
Set of Sounds and little melody sooo cool

Thanks, yes it’s amazingly versatile
@TheRustyPeppers THIS x
@TheRustyPeppers yea i was like.. should I wait for mindphaser.. I really really like Hexinvertor.. but I now think both
Fabulous! Great sounds, really nice to have a demo showcasing a modules musical capabilities rather than just twisting knobs :)
Thanks Markt. You have no idea how much it means to us when people appreciate the music and not just the tech when it comes to modular.
So true!!
Well I'm sold. I just need to figure out what is best to complement it with
It's good to have a mixer alongside so you can make full use of the multiple outputs.
Wow, What a great demo! Love it.
Thanks so much!
terrific video chaps, excited to see/hear more!
Thanks, more content coming soon we hope. This really is a great module, whcih is why we felt so compelled to share our experience with everyone.
Eeeeeeee! Mine is on the way. So excited to explore this amazing module. Great demo of usage!
Great video guys, respect ✌🏽
Nice one! Just got my Cs-L, and this thing is FUCKING DOPE!!! Really good demo of it, taking it directions I wouldn't have considered.
Fantastic demo, one on order can't wait!
Wow, killer patch
Sounds beautiful.
Thanks.
it is a sooo beautifull machine 😍😍🥰🥰🥰
We agree!
This is great. Can I ask where your sequence is coming from?
Thanks . A Stillson Hammer MkII. Good balance between control and performance flexibility.
Wow, that patch is amazing. I tried to follow along, but I couldn't get mine to sound anything like that.
That's the beauty of modular. It's unique and transitory. Thank you x
have you uploaded it anywhere for us to listen to? amazing

Beautiful patch.
Thank you x

Thanks. It's become a staple for us now and although you can go super deep with it, when just using a single static waveform output it sounds so good.

"...intensity on the index..."? Is there any Boogaloo dissonance on the mid end? Joking aside, great work you guys!
Do you know if its possible to get a clean sample directly from the oscillator? I'd be really interested to compare the differences between the hardware version and the free VCV modules.
Yes, the individual waveform and complex outputs are clean. I'd be interested to hear how the VCV version stacks up.
This is the video that made me buy a Cs-L.
It had the same effect on me before purchasing, this demo tiped the scales
Sounds great...that sub out sounds massive! Is there any EQ boost of the bottom end or is it the dry sound (besides the delay anyway)?
Brilliant patch, you may have sold some units with this video...got me GASing for sure...
Thanks nektar, means a lot coming from you. No post-record processing or EQing took place, just the raw CsL. That's why we love it!
What sequencer are u using ?
A Stillson Hammer Mk2 and Turing Machine
what do you use to sequence voince 1 and 2?
Stillson Hammer MkII 👍
This is the most complex demo i saw around, i’m trying to get my head around it :-)) i feel pretty intimidated by this module
I’m curious how you get that syncopated rhythm that inverses from time to time on the bass voice, i can see the sequencer moving rhythmically but you also seem to trigger maybe everystep with a syncope
Oh man, and that arpegio on voice one, is the hammer capable of doing that? Steps seem to move pretty slow but voice 1 seems to arpegiate on that
Was this patch made with one instance or did it have overdubs? It was a bit complicated ( ;) ;) ) to understand.
It was recorded in a single take. No overdubs. Apart from the kick, all other sounds are being produced simultaneously from the CsL.
what are you guys using to sequence on the 1V/oct?
Stillson Hammer MkII
D Voxx Exactly my setup.
hey, what kind of case do you have here?
They are custom built cases made by a chap called Iain Russell in Berlin. Fantastic build quality and service.
too much talking, sorry
