It's pretty sweet, however I already have the SL2 with the 10-18 which is a great camera. Since the 4K with AF is useless and there's also a crop on it, there isn't much to benefit from this camera. Also the lenses are just low end oriented atm. Probably they'll expand if the sales go up. Dope content, keep up the good work!
I wish it could pump out 1080p 120fps... leaning towards the Sony a6300 or a7III.

@@i890ola recording limit isn't really a big deal, that just means it splits it into another file to keep going it doesn't stop recording all together. All sony cameras have been sold out for a while and won't come back until Sony can keep up with ps5 sales using their processors. So getting a refurbished M50 mark ii is the best atm.

This video saved my life! I was confused why the auto focus was not working for my outdoor shots (searching and not focused on my face). When I turned off the 4K and went to FHD 30 FPS it solved the problem. Thank you!

Only 24p at 4K is a bit gimmicky. It’s like they only added it to get the 4k headline....
That's exactly what they did. The crop is also ridiculous, as is the fact that DP AF doesn't work in 4k. Like, why?!
Lincoln Riddle canon cripples their lower end cameras so they don't compete with the pro models.

Both are amazing! The m50 has a very better features than the SL2 -- but the SL2 is still the best "budget" option in my opinion... it's $250 cheaper.
But You can't go wrong with either ... they are both solid! 👊⚡💯

Rebecca Bramhall the 200D is the best way to go, the M50 isn't a great camera I have used it and tested it to it's limits and the 200D just kills it

Sebastian Smith, I just been out and purchased the Canon M50 and have just put it up against my Canon G7x Mk1 which is 100% better then this Canon M50, Even in lowish light the M50 video is grainy and my G7x Mk1 is clear and crisp, This video just cost me $900 usd down the chute, Hoping i can return it in the morning !

I dunno, for the price the g7x MK2 is pretty much on par with 1080p and cheaper, the 4k (for me) is pretty useless if it's not 60fps.
I have the M6 and I've actually swapped over to the M50.
Why, simply because the screen finally flips out to the side!!?!
Also, I can use all my current M6 lenses on it!
do you need an adapter of any kind for lenses?

Hey Sean. Great video as always. I bought the M50 for interview style videos where it’s stationary on a tripod. Unfortunately the light is a little low in the room I use for that and I have to raise iso to about 1000 to get proper exposure. Do you have a lens suggestion for such use? Something faster like the Rikonon for M series you reviewed earlier with an f stop of 2? Distance in that room is an issue as well I have to zoom all the way out to 15 to get two people in the shot. Thanks man.

What I didn't know is that it doesn't come with an internal sd card.had to order separately and I have to wait for 1extra day.Had watched another of your videos which stated that it comes with a card although you had suggested to buy another card coz the camera's card was of low quality
I thought Sony’s had the fastest autofocus.
They often lack mic inputs and other features. --I checked.
They also overheat.

The Canon M50 is more money than the Canon SL2....
Kyle2000 it’s also more than the T7i which I believe is a better camera
The M50 also has focus peaking and an EVF. I have an SL2 and the optical viewfinder is crap. I almost never use it. The one real advantage the SL2 has over the M50 is the battery life, which is significantly better.
I still think if you consider value the SL2 is still perhaps the best camera out. I'm definitely loving it and the main flaw is the lack of substantial points of auto focus, however it hasn't hindered my vids or pictures in any way.
Oh no doubt. The SL2 is a steal for the price and I love using it. I bought an LCD viewfinder for mine to get around the lack of a EVF.
The SL2 is improved over the SL1, which was already a great value and amazing work of miniaturization. HOWEVER, if you want to shoot video with an eye level viewfinder without adding a Hoodman adapter each time, the M50 is the answer. Also, if you have some very fast lenses (50/1.2, for example), Canon's lax QC can make those lenses unusable without either AF Micro Adjust OR a mirrorless camera.

I had a Harry in Ollivander's wand shop when I held this camera in store. Is it perfect in 4k? No. It totally drifts on the AF, but honestly- it blew me away, it addressed so many of my pain points as an aspiring UA-camr. I am working on recording my first 4 videos and launching the channel plan on July 22nd...so if I don't win this amazing camera, I'm going to need to hustle and get my hands on it! Thank you for this review. I literally was in Best Buy the day before yesterday taking cameras for a spin, and found your video....just in time!
