This was Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! I am 71 and a native. You took me to so very many NEW places and revisited so many of my favorites. BTW Clifton's open in 1935. I with my parents ate there often starting for me at age 3. Many locations have been in other films than Blade Runner. But I love what you did and have watched twice now. Bravo.
I delivered liquor in Downtown LA for 20 years from the late 60s to the late 80s and I also lived in downtown from 1999 to 2009 you did a good job I know all the places and seen them all many times brings back memories thank you for your video I love downtown Los Angeles. And the surrounding areas.
You live there? Of course it isnt worth checking out if you see it everyday, lol. This is for people like me who are coming to smoke to weed but could use a few places to check out for free to walk around blazed, lmao.
@MrBigEnchilada You do know you can see a performance inside the Walt Disney Concert Hall (LA Philharmonic)? Also it was designed by famed architect Frank Gehry. Its not everyday you come across a building designed by him.
Great job. I lived in DTLA for eight years, and over time I bicycled to pretty much each stop on your list. Watching your video was a nice trio down Memory Lane Thank you.
The monthly downtown art walk is another great event. Happens first Thursday of every month. Lots of artist selling their stuff but also attracts tons of food trucks and great for people watching.
This is so useful, thank you very much! I am a native and still struggle on giving people suggestions. This is awesome. Even gave some to my teenager. Great job.
Thank you for this great video! I want to check every single places you are talking about. Your voice and speech are really clear. The video is really enjoyable!
Great video....Venice beach, oue skyspace, sunset strip, griffith park, museum of death, trajos tacos are on my list already....! Over from Scotland on holiday in June..so excited!!!!!
I highly recommend going to Clifton's Cafeteria, it's really nice and it's also a bar/club at night, free entry but to dress nicely for it. They also have small performances as well and themed dance rooms. It is by far my favorite bar to go in LA.
Josh, spent our first day in downtown LA today. Thank so much for your many helpful videos. I visited Grand Central Market for lunch, the Bradbury Building, Angels Flight, the Intercontinental, Little Tokyo, LA City Hall and the LA Library. We enjoyed every on of them.
We're headed there in mid-August for a day and a half stay and were wondering what to do. Thank you for an articulate well thought out list of interesting things that aren't the usual tourist stuff. I'am from San Diego. We also have great places to discover. But recently I visited Los Angeles and really enjoyed my stay! I recommend J. Paul Getty's Art Museum! 😍
grateful for the tour....born and raised in L.A. but live 2000 miles away now. ur tour brought back many fond memories and a few surprises at the changes. btw, Cliftons was there when I was VERY YOUNG, so it's much older than 50yrs. I always loved going there with my mom when we went shopping downtown on the streetcar. again...thanks
great video. I lived in LA when i was in College and i never knew most of the places. which makes me sad, but happy cause i have a reason to go back to.
That awesome feeling of accomplishment when u know you've visited some of these places😎😎 I would also recommend visiting LACMA the museum in downtown LA, and definitely GRIFFITH PARK to spot and look over the whole city of LA
Great video we took some of your suggestions and made a day of it. We still have so much more to see. Thanks for making our daytrip to LA a focused and enjoyable one.👏
I appreciate this video in so many ways. I lived in California for 20 years near LA, and never knew these places were here. Thanks for these great destination tips!
Growing up and living in LA you forget how amazing our home is. Thanks for giving me some new places to check out, I’ve been to most of your recommendations but there’s a few new ones you’ve open my eyes to. 👍🏽 The ramen spot you mentioned is amazing also the intercontinental is absolutely beautiful and the food was A+ with the best view in Los Angeles.
Intercontinental is by far an amazing hotel best views in Los Angeles. Great spot to take a date. Best sushi in Los Angeles is crazy rocking sushi on Labrea and Santa Monica Blvd.
I love your videos! We are very frugal and have little kids so I love that you include things that are almost free, food related, and easy to walk around. The kids would love these places.
I left LA and moved back home to BROOKLYN, NY but 2 of our daughters still live and work in LA. This was SOOOOO informative. Most of these places I'd never seen in the 16 years I lived in LA. And of course there were places that I visited, like the Hollywood Sign after walking up the trail in Griffith Park. But this was something to see and thank you so much for the "tour". I'll let my daughters know and take them to some of these places when next I visit Los Angeles.
Sooo, great video with awesome recomendations. Some I knew about and am now more inspired to see, others are surprises. Now to be picky. Grand Central Market has been around not just decades, but a FULL CENTURY. Cliftons has been around not just over 50 years but almost 90. On the other hand, Our Lady of the Angels is not THAT old. 2002. However it replaced St. Vibiana's which had been thw Catholic Arch Diosese headquarters since the late 1800s.
As someone who was born and raised in Los Angeles--Queen of Angels Hospital c.1946--I can honestly say that I really enjoyed watching your video. Two thumbs waaay up! You did a great job with all of these recommendations! And, if you ever find yourself in the vicinity of the Staples Center with a case of the hungries, let me give a bump to The Original Pantry Cafe on the corner of 9th and Figueroa...open 24hrs...you'll be glad you did!
I’ve been an Angeleno all my life and didn’t know about some of these! Thank you!!! Also to those who wanna explore maybe 30-40 mins away from LA please go to the Huntington Library-Gardens. You will NOT regret it. Beautiful and ethereal place.
@Paul D I have on both coasts and in between. LA puts most major U.S. cities to shame. LA just has a lot more of everything from museums (of every type and scope) to concerts to other cultural amenities, etc. As I type this LA metro now has the 3rd/4th most extensive public rail transport by mileage in the U.S. when LA Metro and Metrolink are added. For a city its size it truly is world class rivaling NYC in economic and cultural importance and leaving the rest behind (LA has the world's 3rd largest metro GDP after Tokyo and NYC).
@Paul D Great exodus? There's a very insignificant net loss (its also adding people as others leave)--its not seeing the same loss of people however that you are seeing from San Francisco and NYC currently post-Covid19. LA is one of the major cities that's remained stable. Like SF and NYC, LA metro has the most expensive real estate in the U.S. (in fact on average more expensive than NYC metro), and that has more to do with people leaving (a victim of its own success unlike say Detroit or Chicago with falling real estate prices as people leave) to neighboring Nevada, Arizona, and to Texas where real estate is much much cheaper (and this has been happening for decades even under Republican leadership just because of how much more expensive it is in CA; its not a recent trend). However as mentioned, unlike SF and NYC its not losing as many people (and in fact is gaining more residents with a masters degree or higher). Having visited NYC (and Boston, DC, etc.) and having long had family in SF I can see why this is happening. However, the situation in LA is not the same (there are still bidding wars on houses and real estate prices are stable or even still rising unlike in these other cities).
Going to LA this weekend and I'm actually excited to have ran across this video. We're looking for things to do outside of the main tourist attractions and man this is it! Thanks!

My fav spot in LA is definitely the Griffith Observatory I recommend watching La La Land before going if you havent seen it yet! I also recommend a fried chicken restaurant called 'Poppy+Rose"
Griffith used to be a good place until parking and traffic became a nightmare. The Getty Center is far better in my opinion, it opens late on Saturdays and the view is awesome.
Poppy +Rose is so LEGIT! Awesome but its not a fried chicken restaurant. It has fried chicken on the menu and its bomb. Every item on the menu is really good.
The next time you're at Smorgasburg, go to the 10th floor of the parking structure- there is a fantastic view of the skyline as well as a tiny park that offers yoga classes on weekends.
LOL at the Broadstagram description. the "mirror rooms" refers to Yayoi Kusama's Inifinity Room series the "big tulips" are by Jeff Koons the "American sign" is by Glenn Ligon the "table you can walk under" is by Robert Thurrien
I would also recommend Vista Hermosa Natural Park and Elysian park.. They are not too far apart from each other in Down Town LA and are great places to relax, lie on the grass after a tiring walk around, under the shade of trees, view the skyscrapers, complete with restrooms and drinking water. Vista park is about a 2km walk from Grand Central Market and you can check out the Broad and Walt Disney Concert Hall between them.
This was so great! Thank you for the suggestions. I've been to LA before but haven't been to the Downtown area so will be checking out these spots when I'm back in June :)
Not trying to be obnoxious but you just stated that you lived in LA all your life. So does it mean that you are currently not alive or am i chatting with a ghost?

Thanks for this video I am from Australia and going to LA for the first time in October and I am staying in down town LA so can’t wait
The next time you're at Smorgasburg, go to the 10th floor of the parking structure- there is a fantastic view of the skyline as well as a tiny park that offers yoga classes on weekends.
That sounds awesome, thanks for the tip!
Jotted down!
Gracias!!!!!!! Recién viajaré a LA lugares muy atractivos y originales, muy buena elección 👍👌
if you're from La and haven't explored these places let's go!

the "mirror rooms" refers to Yayoi Kusama's Inifinity Room series
the "big tulips" are by Jeff Koons
the "American sign" is by Glenn Ligon
the "table you can walk under" is by Robert Thurrien
I live in the OC, but constantly commute to LA. You pointed out some spots I've never checked out, thank you for this!! :)
No problem!
Awesome videos. Keep them going. Over 10 minutes is good as long as the content is good which it always is from you.
what an awesome blend of very touristy things and small unique finds. thank you!
Love your recommendations for an upcoming trip to LA
Thank you so much 💕 We've been pulling our hair searching for places to take my cousin without stretching the budget.
I love LA !!! Great things to do & visit !!!!
Great video- so happy you included the Library!
This is great! Thanks! I'll be going to LA in May and this gives me some ideas!
AWESOME. i just moved to LA and this is an awesome to do list
This was so great! Thank you for the suggestions. I've been to LA before but haven't been to the Downtown area so will be checking out these spots when I'm back in June :)
No problem, thanks for the comment!

An AMAZING video! Thank you! I lived in LA all my life and had no idea half of these places existed 😂
Not trying to be obnoxious but you just stated that you lived in LA all your life. So does it mean that you are currently not alive or am i chatting with a ghost?

No problem, hope you had fun exploring!
Biddy Mason Memorial in the alley between Spring and Broadway (walk across the street to Grand Central Market).
