As someone who was born and raised in these neighborhoods, my elementary school was South Park elementary. It's a badge of honor that I survived the LA Hoods. But I'll also say, not everyone is a victim. 1) if you don't get involved with the street life and unlawful actives then you're less likely to be a 'victim' of a crime. 2) Don't walk around looking scared then you make yourself a target. 3) Common sense, be aware of your surrounding and yes don't walk around in unfamiliar places at night. 4) MInd yo business. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. Snitches' get stiches. Cops come questioning you about crime, you may feel the urge to "Do the right thing" and be a good witness report everything to the cops. But once the cops are gone aint nobody gonna protect you from those you snitched on. Now you made yourself the next target. ***STORY TIME: Once locked my keys in the car, it was late night past 2 am needed to drive home. After an hour of trying AAA failed to unlock my car. I saw a lone person walking the dark streets looking into cars to break in and steal the stereo system. I asked him if he could help me with my locked keys. He said yea, pulled a slim jim out of his sleeve and opened the my car in under 10 seconds. Then he looked at me and was excited that I remembered him! I was confused at first, but turned out he was my 2nd grade classmate (South Park elementary) now in our early 20s. We chatted a bit, then he said he needed to get back to work and told me to let him know if I was ever in the market for a car stereo system. That was the last time I saw him. (TRUE STORY)
@@dom8ter69 I think it's based on reported assault so the numbers may be skewed. Assaults do occur here and there in South central constantly but may not be reported compared to people, especially tourists, walking around Chinatown or LittleTokyo
It’s because Skid Row is close to China Town and Little Tokyo. Skid row is truly the craziest place in the country, but it’s not literally a city/town. So the nearby areas that are official , they get the crime stats of skid row. There’s a bleed-over effect. Simple.
As a former rideshare driver in LA for several years, I'll ad that you're much more likely to run into weirdness at night in bad areas rather than the day, where fools are sleeping in late late
Take what this guy says with a MASSIVE grain of salt. I get more freaked out driving along Alameda at night than I do walking around Little Tokyo during the day. Completely missed Skid Row, Boyle Heights, Macarthur Park, San Pedro. Heck even Long Beach has it's shady areas. Anybody who has lived in LA the last 20 years will know this stuff.
I made it to 52 years old so far and have never had an issue in most of these neighborhoods. I haven't been to them all but live by what my father always told me. "You go looking for trouble, you'll find it".

I lived in L.A. for 45 years mainly around Pico Union and Echo Park area. Most of this list is correct. One of the problems is that in the truly bad areas most people never call police because they are scared. Police are not really going to solve crime problems. Most of the places that I saw true positive change was in areas where you had the people through the churches helping there communities. Politicians and police don't really do much. I finally had to move to Texas.
@@LostAngelNest I grew up in Texas and California is a fair comparison I walked all over LA. The bus was free for homeless people in 2021 up until Jan.10 2022 I was mainly downtown near Pershing Square
Just got back from LA, spent 2 nights in downtown LA, being from Chicago i kind of understand that when a city is considered "dangerous" it just means there's certain areas to avoid. Everyone was telling me to not go anywhere near downtown LA and i found the area to be pretty safe. More homeless than Chicago but the locals were friendly and lots of things to do.
downtown used to be fucked up about 30 yrs ago but they moved all the homeless and drug addicts down to wall street towards the train station and downtown is wonderful in most parts, my girlfriend and I used to walk Spring st and Broadway at nite and enjoy all the bars and night life b4 all this CV shit
Downtown LA is not a tourist destination. There are things to see in Downtown from a historical standpoint but it is not a place that you want to stay.
Depends what part of downtown LA you were at.....if u were by the touristy area you only issue would be homeless & crack addicts....now if you went a little more north west to where all the central americans are yud see the difference between DTLA & DTLA district area....even in the district are cruise by 5th & broadway & yull get a glimpse of what not to go near
This guy is delirious! I am familiar with every neighborhood on the list and in the real world Watts, Crenshaw and So. Central are far worse than Little Tokyo and China town.
@@baramis575 You do know alot of unreported crimes happen in many of these neighborhoods, alot of people don't snitch or call the police for help. Probably why China Town and little Tokyo is high on the list because more people report crimes or suspicious people there. Don't always go off statistics.
When he said Little Tokyo was number 2 I sip my water and started laughing. It's one of the most comfortable places to walk in ALL of Los Angeles in the city district. The time and hard work they put into building that area, community and shops is applaudable. It's a shame this video basically took a shit on the area and tourists now may miss this beautiful cultural area, little shops and great food due to this video.
True but the surrounding area is pretty bad though with tons of homeless and very bad vibes. Whether it is actually dangerous I don't know but I'm not going to find out.
Thank you for saying this. As a Chicagoan that moved to LA five years ago all I hear about is how bad Chicago is, I am from the worst area that Chicago has, and I have been to the worst areas of LA, but the description of what you said was spot on. especially about what you say about the past of LA. I miss my city but my wife could not deal with Chicago cold, so for Love I moved and married her. Good people in LA and Chicago.
Skid Row and East Downtown near 7th Street was the scariest place I've ever been to. One street was covered with trash, with a huge tent city that migrated to the actual street.
I live in Lincoln Heights for many years. It used to be nice but it gradually started dying when more homeless showed up in the main street and many middle class residents moved out. It is still a safe city as long as you don't go out at night. We still have good neighbors watching out for each other.
I'm british but spent a lot of time in Los Angeles as I have friends there and I have been through a lot of these areas on the metro (and visited watts towers) and while they are run down in parts which is sad to see I can honestly say I have never been bothered once. I assume a lot of these are gang related and if you keep yourself to yourself you will be ok. Love LA
I'm born and raised in L.A., and also lived in Atlanta, Brooklyn and Oakland. While you always have to be smart and aware, by and large they're not really unsafe. BUT.... in those places..... if you're looking for trouble, you'll find it right away. If you're not, then you'll be alright.
Russell Mondy I agree. However! If you’re really in trouble at no fault your own, you can use the homeless transients & vagrants as shields. I always do this method in Metro Blue/A Line, but it’s a double-edge sword.
I'm a native and I agree. In thirty years, I've only gone thru one burglary and have had my car stolen and then found completely fine. You usually wont run into trouble unless you're looking for it.
I lived in most of these neighborhoods growing up in LA in the 70s and 80s. Even in places you didn’t mention like McArthur Park and Pico Union. Your right, those neighborhoods are and have been extremely dangerous. Despite this, I still love Los Angeles
Yep I was wondering why Pico Union and Mac Arthur Park weren't listed. I was at the park one day about 25 years ago and heard a bullet fly right by my ear - it took down a girl about 25 feet in front of me who was homeless. Scariest day of my life. Alvarado, Westmoreland, Vermont and Normandie to Pico. 8th and 9th streets too.
@@Its_Renee_ this area changed and is under gentrification as new luxury condos are being built all around... After the Rampart police scandal was revealed and many people went to jail and the whole PD was reformed in that area things started changing from 2000 until about 2015...now there is a growing homeless population around the park but the development is continuing. its an interesting complex urban scenario. Rich folks moving in meanwhile homeless right outside. the gang fighting from MS13 decreased as the drug wars in the park and surrounding areas is less violently visible as it was with body bags and white sheets visible on the sidewalks as the cops conduct the investigations... somethine wild to comprehend if you have just moved from a more typically safe city.
I visited for a week. Of course I stayed in populated areas , didn’t go out at night. When on day tours. I enjoyed. I was aware it was a dangerous city, but all cities are if you don’t know area. I went to Memphis for Elvis week in 23. And in both cities went by myself. I still had a good time. But was always cautious. Stayed in at night if possible. Memphis is dangerous too. But I couldn’t believe how laid back Americ are down there. I talked to a lot, good sense of humour, friendly to talk to. Very hospitable. I think we are a little more uptight in Canada, not really bad, but not as relaxed as Americans. I definitely noticed that. LA is a warm climate too. So is going to to attract homeless. Greed is main reason I think people homeless, turn to crime theft, All these millionaires, and a lot slum landlords too, rent way too high. Wages are not high enough. And even if you get decent pay don’t get the hours. But it’s like that every where. California is beautiful. But it has its tragedies, crime, weather, too expensive to live. But it’s like that pretty much everywhere too.
Shout out from The Sinclair! It looks like a Mexican garbage dumb around here, but we have history and a lot of architecture. I'm not exactly sure if these are all humans around here.
I’ve lived in Mid City just above West Adams and the freeway for 18 years. My best friend lives in West Adams. The danger of the area is greatly exaggerated in this video.
Nobody who actually lives in LA would say West Adams is more dangerous than Crenshaw. I live in WA and there’s plenty to be careful of sure (especially as you go further South of the freeway), but for the most part it’s a harmless burb with a bunch of indie coffee shops, art galleries, and (yes) liquor stores and shady scam artists. Not exactly a hive of gang warfare or anything though. Only heard gunshots once in over a year living here. Whereas I hear shots sometimes just driving South of here
I agree but back in the day I'm talking mid-1980s the skating rink World on wheels did not attract the best crowds I never had a problem around that area and I am white! But all my friends were black not really gangsta but we were all really big guys so we never encountered to many problems but it did happen from time to time and back at time at of Jamaican gangs kind of controlled the area close by not exactly right there but pretty close and they were ruthless this was of course when crack was becoming really big although no of use really called it crack! That was a media creation
I lived in LA for 10 years. “The numbers don’t lie,” you said. What is missing in your video is that not ALL CRIMES are reported to the police. The business owners in Chinatown and Little Tokyo, which borders each other, DO REPORT the crimes more so than the other neighborhoods that you covered. So while you’re correct that the numbers don’t lie, one cannot trust the official numbers due to the incomplete reporting. This doesn’t mean that Chinatown and Little Tokyo are safe. It just means that the other neighborhoods are even MORE dangerous than their numbers are telling.
The statistics are skewed further because "per capita" is dividing the crime only into the number of residents. Divide crimes into residents *and visitors* and Little Tokyo and Chinatown would fall off the list entirely. People visit Little Tokyo. Anyone in Crenshaw lives in Crenshaw.

As someone who worked in the field all over LA for many years, I can honestly say that the worst areas where I actually felt unsafe were lynwood and much of the neighborhoods around USC.
6th Street, Has to be the worst, but the beach cities have the most annoying ones. I too have worked all over LA. A safety vest, a hard hat, a clipboard, and a white F-150 will get you almost anywhere.
Ya that’s why USC has security on every corner of every block that the students reside in. All those hoods around usc know not to mess with usc, just like in Hollywood, hoods know not to tag up all the streets. It’s like a unwritten rule, an understanding.
Went to USC and the surrounding community was god awful. Transferred to UCLA my junior year and it was heavenly and surrounded by multi million dollar mansions!
I know your joking and I'm not splitting hairs BUT.......If I'm not mistaken Johnny Tran and his boys were Vietnamese. The turf of their's being in Westminster down in OC.
As a kid growing up in Hawthorne, Inglewood and Lennox, all throughout the 80s until 1992, I always thought LA was the greatest place on earth because it was featured in almost every movie and TV show, and that gang violence was a normal thing that all places had; getting jumped for your jacket or bike was just something that happened regularly everywhere. As an adult living in South Florida, I gotta say...in hindsight, I lived in a goddam warzone! My parents can confirm, the cops were to blame...they witnessed beatings and even had to Identify the dead body of a tenant we had living in a small house behind our house (duplex); the man was a very docile, sweet guy with a Wife and two small kids and my folks said he was complete covered in bruises.
Yeah man. I feel you. I was growing up a lil bit in Torrance too cause I had friends since my teens. I’m from Compton. Now all I wanna do is move to Torrance or PV
I grew up in Lennox, too from the timeframe you shared. The apartment complex I lived at were 1-bedroom apartments then, behind the Lucky grocery store.
@@adrianp7574 Dude! I also grew up in Compton and surrounding areas. I bailed as soon as I graduated HS and moved to Torrance. Best decision ever! I used to think having bars on your windows was normal.
I grew up in West Adams and my parents still live there, 30+ years. It’s definitely not as dangerous as it was in the 80s & 90s. There’s so much gentrification going on in the area that to see it being called dangerous NOW blows my mind, it’s the most peaceful it’s ever been.
Your national average is dictated by 1000s of little one traffic light towns where a single parking ticket is issued each year. I live in a quiet white suburb where the worst thing that happens is townies driving drunk. This guy would probably tell you not to stop here after dark.
Dude! Do you even live in LA?? I live in Little Tokyo for over 5yrs and whatever you said, or your outdated sources said is absolutely not true! Even your South Park area is mixed up.
Mailing address on his profile says Oregon, so probably no. He’s never been to Little Tokyo or Chinatown the so called stats brought up in this video don’t show the reality on the ground.
I live in LA. I am on the border of Crenshaw and West Adams. I think this list is NOT that accurate. I'll be honest, I don't know everything that's happening in my neighborhood, however, it doesn't feel as unsafe as he makes it seem. There has to be more dangerous neighborhoods than Crenshaw and West Adams. Also, both the neighborhoods are now heavily gentrified. Property values have shot up 150% in the last 5 years.
That’s true I also live here Adams borderline Crenshaw is not as bad as it was I’m so surprised to the numbers he saying not sure if it’s as bad as it was plus the house price u right maybe that’s it also couple of abandon houses waiting for sale so does number do t seem right?
Currently living and working in Chinatown. Chinatown definitely do not seem "dangerous" but it can definitely get very wild and dangerous. When you're out at night, many people are driving $100k cars... That alone should tell you what kind of business these people are into.
As long as you’re not wandering around too far south of 2nd Street looking lost, you should be good. If you see larger numbers of homeless talking to themselves, you’d better turn around quick.
I lived in Chinatown for six months in 2020. It’s definitely NOT as dangerous as this video makes it out to be. It’s quite safe to go out at night & a beautiful experience. There are plenty of historical buildings & many things to see in the area.
This video would suggest because places called Chinatown are dangerous, then it must be Asians. But we all know who is responsible for the violence. And it’s not Asians. It rhymes with cracks.
I lived in three of these neighborhoods and I work in little Tokyo. The only thing that makes little Tokyo bad is the amount of homelessness in the area. I still walk around there at night to get some food during my lunch break, or to the Starbucks on L.A. street and first. I don’t know where this dude is getting his numbers from.
They are probably made up to satisfy his own ego. We are from Los Angeles, there are good areas and bad in every city and town, no such thing as perfection.
the stats are based off of reported crimes. So you know little Tokyo and China Town are at the top of the list, because they actually report crimes compared to other places that just stay silent and let the police find the victim.
As someone from LA the top 2 sound so unbelievable. I now live a few streets from Watts and the worst thing in the area are the ghetto drivers. As far as the crimes in LA, I guess I’ve lived a very sheltered life in the 26 years of being alive because I have YET to have major issues with crime personally.
I am completely blown away by the top two. I can understand little Tokyo maybe getting worse with skid row nearby but I have never felt threatened in China town. I have been there many times.
Everywhere has crimes but Californians can’t protect themselves when you know the criminal will have a gun while law abiding citizens won’t. Wouldn’t ever move to cali or anyplace that won’t allow regular citizens to own pretty much any type of firearm they want except automatic firearms
We probably live very close to each other. I live close to MJ's park. Looking for trouble is going into Nickerson Gardens at night when you don't know anyone living there with bad intentions. Jordan Downs is actually in the process of being revitalized and looking pretty good. It's true there are pockets of areas around here that one should avoid and sometimes there is confusion when people start popping off fireworks, but even the "bums" won't mess with ya and I don't fear going to the liquor store on 120th and Central, whereas it was a complete no go back in the 80"s and 90's. I'd say we have a mixture of more good than bad and you can't say it's one race vs another causing most of the mayhem. If going off the Citizens app alone, we're in a pretty safe area compared to other areas in this video though we all know people in China Town and Little Tokyo are far more apt to report crime whereas people in other areas mentioned may feel its a waste of time even calling the police which explains the higher crime rate. I can't believe people are actually paying all that money to live in high rises next to skid row 🙄
The worst crime that ever happened to me in my service business in LA was a bad cheek and someone stole my tools out of my truck one night. I can`t recall ever even being near a violent crime . I think criminals harm each other more than they do honest people.
Ok. I grew up in Lincoln Heights . I was 4th generation raised there. It is not on a bluff. As of 2020 It is getting gentrified with more white 25 to 40 yr olds. It was not the Lincoln Heights in the show. That Lincoln Heights was supposed to be in Chicago.
@@tylerTH3Cr34T0r With Muders every other day and a crack spot on a hill no cops ever rolled through. Let's not forget streets where Non Latinos were forbidden from entering without the open threat of being killed. Lol
You're 100% right. To say Chinatown/Little Tokyo are worse than Watts is LAUGHABLE. I live in the South Park area and work in Vermont Square area. Both of these areas are worse than Chinatown/Tokyo. Idk where tf he's getting these stats or if they're padded bc of the homeless.
I've been going to LA regularly for the past 7 years and I've traveled throughout the entire city - exclusively on mass transit - and I've never encountered any problems whatsoever - day or night. But the one thing that I do is that I never stray from the major boulevards. If you stick to the major boulevards or avenues I think you'll be fine wherever you go - it's when you go deep into the neighborhoods that I think things can get a little sideways.
I went to visit friends and almost got stabbed on the metro for accidentally shoulder slamming into someone because I was loosing my friends I was with. He pulled out a knife and was yelling at me and my girlfriend. Nobody looked or cared he was threatening us.

This was a great video but I’ve lived in LA my whole life I’ve been through all these neighborhoods thousands of times I’ve been in little Tokyo and China town as late as like 4- 5 am at times and I’ve never been assaulted or even bothered to that extent. Most of the crime happens to people who are nosy or are a part of the problem. If you mind your business and just be a good person none of this stuff will happen to you.
I used to take classes right by LAC+USC. Is that Burger King by the magnet high school still there? That was my little pit stop! (Edit: it was on Marengo and of course it’s a Starbucks now 😕)
I lived in Little Tokyo from 95 to 03. I used to walk through skid row on central and 7th to catch the bus for work. I saw some crazy things but never had any serious problems. There was always homeless but since then the numbers have really gone up. Never had any problems in Chinatown either. Glad I moved out, but I have many good memories in Downtown from my 20's.
I've lived in 4 out of 10 of these "areas". From the 70s through the 90s. I guess I was immune to the violence around me, they were all home to me. The gang violence at the time was seemingly a part of life. I will always love Los Angeles. Don't live there now though!
So sad, I remember dads taking us kids to Dodger stadium with my friends for games and eating locally before the games, also used to take school field trips to the Natural History museum. Those days are sadly gone
I grew up in these areas because of a dysfunctional household that was unable to get their situation in order. Fact of the matter is, if you look for trouble, you'll find it. For the most part, people mind their own business and if you come off as a punk, you'll get treated accordingly. Always say good morning, and be respectful.
I’ve lived in a place neighboring Crenshaw all my life and Crenshaw isn’t that bad. Also very surprised about West Adams, my grandparents have lived there over 50 years now🤔
Really?? I drive for Uber and start at 6 and end 6am 7 days a week and don’t see any crime and I’m in south central taking people to work all night and morning do you go out every night??

He is going by the crime statistics. Guess what, St. Louis is the murder capital of the US, but the vast majority of the city isn't dangerous, just the drug-infested areas where the traffickers are. (and a whole lotta drugs get transported down the Mississippi river to and from there). Just because you "been to some of these areas" doesn't mean you know every gang, drug trafficker, and you sure as hell aren't tallying up the dead bodies at the morgue either. Go look at the crime stats yourself.
Haha full of caca!! Is true, most of these places we walk thru and pump gas in those neighborhoods and were still here lol meanwhile skid row is hands down the most dangerous place in SoCal fr

When in LA, just be careful driving in unknown neighborhoods. Because some people look at that as suspicious behavior. Especially Watts,Compton,Inglewood, and Crenshaw districts.
People make themselves look like marks, too. But you're right and you gotta watch what gear you're wearing. If you look like you don't belong, it's obvious.
Note: Compton is not an LA neighborhood. It is a city itself, like Long Beach or Downey. Easy enough mistake to make. Many Detroiters mistake Highland Park and Hamtramck for neighborhoods (they are not part of Detroit).
I think people who don't have cars and have to travel by foot or public transit in these areas mentioned in the video are more likely to be victims of crimes from these criminals that are on the prowl and take advantage of vulnerable folks. It really sucks for some of these people that don't have many options and have to risk their well being on a daily.
I would definitely be up for hiring undercover security to work the Metro Train and Public Busses so people can feel safe. It would help protect the weak and innocent from becoming victims of all of Los Angeles Crazies out there.
Been through Little Tokyo earlier this year while on vacation. Aside from a few sketchy homeless people it really didn't seem that bad. Spent a full week there, one night I heard some flashbangs in the distance from some protests but aside from that, the worst thing I saw was a homeless woman losing her mind, dumping her cart and the cops finding a bunch of stolen cosmetics. Honestly it's one of the safest places I've been to in LA.
Ive lived in Lincoln Heights for 5 years now and it's been a great place to live. I used to live in a Chicago neighborhood infested with gang members and constant shootings. Lincoln Heights in no way resembles an actual bad neighborhood. I walk everywhere and have never seen a crime or been victimized by anyone. Chinatown is super safe too.
Yup. In the 90s to mid 00s, it was a breeding ground for trouble. I heard stories of people all around LA would go to Lincoln Heights just to cause trouble cuz it was lawless back then. Now its filled with working class families. Shoot, I even see hipsters walking down confidently
@@psychobillynumbnuts1 yes, born and raised in Lincoln heights, now living in Long Beach, but I was born in 98' so most of the "bad people" were already getting taken care of by the time I was growing up, felt safer there than where I live now.
I laughed so hard when you mentioned Godzilla showing up and we're like, yeah I'm not surprised, because this year has SUCKED so far. I can't even believe the sh*t going on in our world and country (US). Would you do the most dangerous neighborhoods in Chicago? I lived in Horner Park for 3 years and then Albany Park, I think that's the name, for another 3 years before moving out of the city. Great video!
@Kristin Nunez Actually! Godzilla from Shizuo Kobune’s Godzilla Planet of the Monsters fought against three monsters; Angirus, Baragon, and Varan, in Los Angeles, CA.
I've lived in West Adams for close to 7 years and I really like it. I frequent Leimert Park and the Crenshaw District often and have never encountered any problems. Those areas are rich in culture. I find it interesting that most of the places you listed as "dangerous" are predominantly black. I can think of some cities in the valley that's sketchy as hell that you should have mentioned.
amen. I used to do shows at the Fais Dos Dos. We knew it was a little dangerous but there's so much history there and its good to live in these places even if they are sketchy. Its cheaper and there's so many hidden delights.
West Adams was one of the most violent and gang infested parts of LA in the 1980s & 1990s blue raggers flooded that area I grew up in on every street. Also there is not a single Victorian home anywhere on West Adams, that area he showed on carmona street & West Adams between washington all the way past hauser is nothing but gangs & single story home's not a single Victorian home anywhere.

As an LA resident who’s visited practically all of these cities, they really ARENT that bad as long as you mind your business and don’t mess with anyone you’ll be fine. it can get sketch at night depending the city but most of the time nothing happens and growing up in Lincoln heights I can definitely say this guy over exaggerated
The reason why many Japanese did not come back to Little Tokyo and moved somewhere else is simply because for two to three years after WWII ended, Japanese were not allowed to return to the west coast. Example, after my family was released from the Poston, Arizona camp, they couldn’t come back, so they went to Chicago. A few years later, they came back to LA. Not all of them though.
My neighborhoods before I left Southern California. Best restaurants, best barbershops, very friendly people too. Mom and Pop shops everywhere. Yes, there are some rough spots with troublemakers but in general these are NOT neighborhoods to avoid. In the 80s and 90s, do not go out at night and be home before sunset - but that was then.
Several years ago I had a conversation with a long time former neighbor that lived in Los Angeles for many years. He related to me that Los Angeles overall was nothing like the news media seem to report the city to appear. I find this to be true about most large cities that I have lived in.
I lived in LA for about 5 years. I lived in 3 of the neighborhoods in this video... they had the cheapest rent, and still wasn’t that cheap. I still totally enjoyed it lol
You should have seen it before the white flight; the same thing happened to anyone of color who ventured west of Crenshaw after dark. I guess nothing changes no matter who lives there.
I agree with the list, but Chinatown and Little Tokyo don't belong on it. Instead, you may want to add Hollywood and Skid Row. As shocking as this may sound, but parts of Santa Monica may soon push the city on a list like this.
Solid Designs Yes indeed. It’s the character that appeals to those searching in that area who have pockets deep enough to keep up with the cost of maintaining a 100 year old home.
i live in the historic Jefferson park area and homes over here go for a million bucks or more. this list is a joke. Ive been to all of these places and I dont feel threatened, this isnt 1985 anymore. If you feel threatened in West Adams you are a pussy
Lived in LA area most of my life, definitely a lot to love, a lot to keep your eyes open over. More recently, trash and homeless camps are moving in just about everywhere.
I’ve been poking for that restaurant for years. The one in West Adams 5:45. Was there once many years ago and loved it. Now that I now where it’s at I’ll definitely come by again next year.
My grandparents from both sides lived in Lincoln Heights. I spent much of my winter and spring breaks there when I was a kid. Granted I was never out at night, I never once felt like I was in any danger in the day or felt like I needed to be on guard. My grandma is still around, and Lincoln Heights still feels like a 2nd home when I visit her. Even today, I dont feel afraid when I run errands for her around town, but since I am super familiar with the area, possible threats are easy to spot and avoid.

I live in LA over 35 years. I dont think China Town and Little Tokyo are most dangerous than South Los Angeles areas.
New york and chicago was more dangerus in 1920 1930 1940 today is los angeles.
Maybe because the light is always shed on South LA not the Asian towns. It’s called propaganda
I agree i grew up in so central so to me Chinatown and lil Tokyo were nothing like my hood

Leo Lee That is what I was thinking; I was surprised Skid Row was not on the list: but then I wonder how often people call the police there.
Don't forget those Ninjas.
I was thinking the same thing, but Chinatown is #1 and is not next to Skid Row, so I guess the whole area is just dangerous.
The fashion District hires their own enforcement.
Little Tokyo feels incredibly safe, except for the occasional crazy homeless person, it must be because of proximity to Skid Row.
I remembered visiting my friends whose family used to live in El Monte. Don't remember the neighborhood but that place looked pretty rough as well.
If you go to these places you will be fine. You’ll only find trouble if you’re looking for it.

The warm weather draws lots of homeless

Downtown LA is not a tourist destination. There are things to see in Downtown from a historical standpoint but it is not a place that you want to stay.

When he said Little Tokyo was number 2 I sip my water and started laughing. It's one of the most comfortable places to walk in ALL of Los Angeles in the city district.
Lawndale in Chicago has twice the murder rate of Honduras. There are some very frightening areas of Chicago.

I assume a lot of these are gang related and if you keep yourself to yourself you will be ok. Love LA
It's true, most people leave you alone but it all depends on the place and timing.
everyone loves to try to act tough but really LA is very safe and pretty soft to be honest.

I agree.
However! If you’re really in trouble at no fault your own, you can use the homeless transients & vagrants as shields. I always do this method in Metro Blue/A Line, but it’s a double-edge sword.

I agree!
Agreed

As an adult living in South Florida, I gotta say...in hindsight, I lived in a goddam warzone!

Why? Stats don't lie.
You are absolutely correct ! Thank you. He is only going off of numbers, not reality.
Whenever I'm in a new neighbourhood...even if I am, I try to never look lost.
I appreciate how you give a non judgemental analysis. This is really enlightening.
If your hear long enough , you will see stuff that after awhile, you realize how even a strong society cannot stop the darkside of humanity.
This video is bull, I live in LA and never experienced any crime myself!! Also my job intel’s that I go to different locations on a weekly basis.

I grew up in these areas because of a dysfunctional household that was unable to get their situation in order. Fact of the matter is, if you look for trouble, you'll find it. For the most part, people mind their own business and if you come off as a punk, you'll get treated accordingly. Always say good morning, and be respectful.

He must drive and spend time in each state he attacks .Beat up my state in towns I never heard of . I would like to know where his stats come from
He is going by the crime statistics.
It’s all relative to what you are accustomed to.

The more dangerous the neighborhood, the better the tacos!
SAN FERNANDO VALLEY!! FTL!
Drive-by !
I think people who don't have cars and have to travel by foot or public transit in these areas mentioned in the video are more likely to be victims of crimes from these criminals that are on the prowl and take advantage of vulnerable folks. It really sucks for some of these people that don't have many options and have to risk their well being on a daily.

Chinatown only gets weird at night when an entire city block explodes in green flame…
Lmao!! As a huge movie fan I knew instantly the reference, totally funny bro.
Not in the early 90’s

West Adams is a historic neighborhood with beautiful Victorian homes. It's gentrified and nowhere as bad as he makes out.
@Shawntelle Augustine I grew up on spaulding ave & west adams blvd my area was deeply inbedded with the WS18st sets WS Crips sets & WS Sur X3 sets all of them repped blue rags and no one could wear red.

I agree with the list, but Chinatown and Little Tokyo don't belong on it. Instead, you may want to add Hollywood and Skid Row. As shocking as this may sound, but parts of Santa Monica may soon push the city on a list like this.

My grandparents from both sides lived in Lincoln Heights. I spent much of my winter and spring breaks there when I was a kid.
