In this video, we’re going to talk about the difference between Himalayan salt and sea salt. Is there really a difference?
Himalayan salt is actually very different from standard sea salt. Here’s why.
Although both Himalayan salt and sea salt have trace minerals, sea salt also has microplastics. One study found that 90% of sea salt products had small amounts of plastics.
However, Himalayan salt has zero microplastics. Why? Himalayan salt is sourced from an ancient sea that existed before humans and pollution.
Microplastics can create a lot of inflammation in the body because they act as endocrine disruptors. Microplastics also take 500 years to break down.
Do not use sea salt unless it’s Celtic sea salt. This is a much cleaner version of sea salt from France.
What about table salt? Well, not only does table salt have microplastics, but it is also bleach and doesn’t contain trace minerals. Additionally, table salt can contain added sugar and aluminum as an anti-caking agent.
We need a good-quality salt to help:
    • Make HCL
    • Support the adrenals
    • Promote immune health
    • Hydrate the body
    • Promote healthy insulin levels
    • Support the sodium-potassium pump
You need around 1-2 tsp of salt per day. This depends on your activity level. If you sweat a lot, this can increase your need for sodium.
If you’re on keto, you want a bare minimum of 1 tsp of salt a day. This is because, as you lose fat, you also lose water weight and electrolytes. Salt is a vital electrolyte.
Some studies show that certain microbes in your body can help break down microplastics. Make sure your microbiome is healthy. Additionally, cruciferous vegetables and omega-3 fatty acids can help detoxify your body, eliminate endocrine disruptors, and keep inflammation down.

Research has not shown that Himalayan salt has any unique health benefits compared to other dietary salt. The mineral impurities that give it a pink color, often promoted as healthful, are far too low in concentration to help with your nutrition. You would have to eat a lethal amount of sodium to achieve helpful quantities of the other minerals.

I switched to Himalayan Pink Salt completely about 6 yrs ago. Had gestational diabetes and high blood pressure in my 1st pregnancy. I found out that this salt regulates the blood pressure. I gave it a go and I remember adding a pinch of it in my drinking water too. I stopped white table salt completely. It has been 6 years since. I have 2 more kids - no gestational diabetes and no high blood pressure since. I can never think of buying another salt now.
In additional to these, I also switched to blended olive oil for cooking food, and relied on fresh local produce rather than buying cans of tomatoes, beans etc. Yes another thing is I replaced white sugar with the cane sugar.
I never knew this salt originates from the mountain that is located in my country - Pakistan. Makes me feel proud of that!
However unfortunately, you need to find a very reliable supplier for this when buying because it comes in different purity levels. Yes this is true but not all sellers would tell you this. We found out after visiting the mine itself. I am lucky to find a trustworthy seller. I live abroad and recommend this salt to all for its health benefits!

Try to avoid using Olive Oil for cooking as it has a low smoking point and any oil when heated above its smoke point can produce harmful free radicals and other oxidation products, which have been linked to inflammation, oxidative stress, and increased risk of chronic diseases. Try to use it only for low to medium heat cooking, such as sautéing or light frying.

Because good schools seldom focus on things that barely make any real difference. The point about microplastics in table salt is over-exaggerated in terms of its effect. You also get micro plastics when you drink and eat out of plastic dishes and cups, nano plastics when you drink water from any vessel. In fact we all are breathing nano carcinogens on occasions. Doesn't make one bit of a difference unless you consume more than 10gm of salt per day which in itself is harmful. Too much Sodium!

What about Redmond Sea Salt? - In prehistoric times, there was an inland sea covering what is now Redmond, Utah, known as Sundance Sea. That sea is gone, but it left behind a large, pristine, underground salt deposit-which is where we mine Real Salt. That's why even though our salt lives deep in the earth, it’s actually sea salt.

Back in 2017 I started using Himalayan salt at the suggestion of my naturopath. I had previously had high levels of heavy metals, including aluminum, lead and mercury, that had been reduced through chelation, and would still occasionally get tested for heavy metals. My test a year after starting the Himalayan salt showed that for the first time ever I had uranium, and my levels of aluminum and arsenic were increasing instead of decreasing. I was mystified as to where I would be getting uranium from and why my other previously low levels were increasing even though I was occasionally getting chelation treatments. I had more chelation treatments, and yet a year later the uranium and other heavy metals were still high. It made no sense! Then my wife asked what was in the Himalayan salt. I did some research, and was shocked to discover that in addition to small amounts of beneficial minerals, there were also small amounts of aluminum, arsenic, barium, cadmium, cesium, lead, nickel, plutonium and uranium. I immediately stopped using the Himalayan salt, and did a concentrated series of chelation treatments that finally succeeded in getting rid of the uranium and reducing the aluminum and arsenic back to a low level.

Thank you Doctor for another very important article. At 79 now and most of my life I have very likely been consuming too much salt, but at least I have been using the right one for the past 30 years.

Most of the brands claim they provide genuine himalayan salt.Even salts r adulterated.Pls share something on how to check or choose or look on the packet to get good himalayan salt.

Mix the pink salt in water n shake it. If the water turns pink it’s most likely fake.
      If it doesn’t it’s genuine.
Another way to do it check the label . If it says it’s sourced from the Himalayan mountains from Pakistan ( from a place called khewra)most likely it’s genuine.
Also check if it mentions abt 84 trace elements being present in it on the label.
It comes in 2 forms as small crystals or even as powdered form.
      Both r fine.

WHOA!! Mind blown. Thank you Dr Berg, you are truly a gift from God! I've been gifting my parents with Himalayan for a long time, and they've seen the benefits, but had no idea that some sea salts were that bad. Now I'm wondering how much of the Himalayan salt deposits are left...

Redmond's Realsalt is also a great ancient sea salt deposited before plastics. It's mined in Utah.

Ya isn't it stunning. Sea salt! I knew about aluminum but not plastic in table salt. It means all specie of marine life, then we uptake it by eating it.

Bryant Austin, you can not avoid microplastics. They are in most of the water you drink. Look it up.
