Different flavors from each but I support Redmonds. I lived in the area and knew many of the families and the owners of the mine. The bentonite clay is also great. They are honest, use third-party analysis reports, and are 100% American. They have really grown in the last 20 years. My only gripe with them is that they now cover their trucks so the salt rocks don't fall on the side of the farm roads when they make turns. No more free salt for us, LOL, but they are usually more affordable compared to the others.
Celtic Sea Salt is my go-to! I really appreciate the breakdown of information you gave, especially in regards to the minerals. This video was truly excellent!
I agree. It has helped me come to the conclusion that the difference in mineral values is minor enough that it really makes no difference from a health standpoint. That said, different people may find that their individual taste buds prefer one over the other, and mineral values may be a component there. The bigger and more likely question is, are those taste preferences a result of actual differences or perceived differences, or are other factors such as grain size and density bigger factors?
I ordered a large bag of Redmonds and it has small grains of something in it that I was constantly biting down on. I was afraid it would break my teeth. It feels like sand. I contacted them and was told that it is silica and that it does not dissolve in water. I already have about 6 crowns and am not looking to break another tooth. I absolutely love Celtic Sea Salt. It does not have un-dissolvable ingredients in it.
Redmonds also makes Ancient Fine Sea Salt. I switched to that after experiencing the same issue with Redmonds Ancient Kosher Sea Salt. You might want to give it a try.

I’ve been using Himalayan salt for a few years. Know your source when buying. I love it. About the time I was going to purchase the Celtic salt, it became the price of gold. Speaking of gold, I purchased, Baja Gold salt. It’s supposed to have the highest amount of minerals. It too, is moist and very salty. I use it for specific cooking.

Excellent data and information here! Really loved the breakdown. There was a study that came out maybe a year ago, where a third party tested all of these salts and many more too, and found a lot of lead in salt across the board! One of the rare few with no lead was celtic sea salt, so I have been sticking to that one since then.
Barbara O'Neill said to place a piece of celtic sea salt on your tongue before drinking water, and it helps absorb the minerals one needs into your body. Her videos are very old, so maybe CSS is different now.

❤ Great explanation, i just purchased celtic sea salt, and previously purchased Real salt, alway been a Himalayan pink salt fan but really like these 2 other options.
Hi from AU. Great info again, thankyou. We have the Himalayan Salt and the French Sea Salt in our home kitchen. We purchased the sea salt whilst on holiday in France. The salt formed on the surface of the water is called Fleur de Ser, salt or Flower of the Sea, in English. It is more delicate and more expensive hence it is used on food after serving as it's characteristics are lost in cooking.
I use Himalayan pink salt. I have the Celtic sea salt but haven't tried it yet. Azure had a sale so I bought three one pound packages and I hope we like it. I tried Redmond's in the past but it has a high silica content and the little crunches annoyed me. I kept thinking one of my dental fillings just died. I tried to ignore the crunches but gave up. I support American businesses but I just can't handle the silica in my salt. If you can't guess I have a dental phobia. So back to Himalayan pink salt I went. I don't even keep white table salt in the house. Even for canning I use pink salt. Great video.
Had the best dental checkup I’ve ever had after I started using Redmond’s toothpaste. Hygienist could not believe the difference. Not gritty at all. The grittiness in the salt are the minerals. I notice them a lot more in the kosher salt. Did you try the fine?
I live in South Africa - most of our pink Himalayan pink salt is repackaged and sold by all sorts of distributors and few give place if origin. I believe there is a lot of contaminated pink salt and we are unable to tell the difference
Agreed. Unless you are buying Himalayan salt from a company large enough to purchase it directly from the mining company, it probably goes through a lot of hands before the consumer gets it. Every stop, shipper, processor, and package along the way is a possible source of contamination. As with anything you ingest, the fewer people who handle it and the closer you are to the source, the better. Some governments have decent standards while others have bad or none.
I bought Himalayan salt in South Africa and realized that what is in the bottle, is not all salt. This is the answer from Google: "The pink granules in your Himalayan Salt are natural impurities - minerals that come with the salt. They have no health benefits, but they're not dangerous either and they're definitely not adulterated. Adulteration is when a food manufacturer secretly adds something cheaper with the aim of making a quick buck."
Redmondsalt is my favorite for water and food But I do use celtic Salt in the morning first thing, and accasionly, I use Himalayan salt. Great video thanks for the info
I didn't think too much of the salt's 'flavors' until I watched "Dating in the Kitchen" starring Zhao Lusi and Lin Shen. (Great drama, by the way)💗 He was, as a chef, teaching her about the difference in the taste of each salt and how the differences change the taste of the food. I immediately took all of my different salts out and started to taste them. I find it truly remarkable how each salt can change the flavor of a dish. I now use 'the salt' that flavors my food to the taste that I like. There doesn't seem to be any extreme differences in mineral content. The Grey salt has a sharp taste and the Himalayan a mellower flavor. To each his own.👍💕 Will have to look around; don't remember ever seeing Redmond's in Canada! Maybe in the larger City centers??
Pink salt gives me a rash. It took me a long time to figure it out. I finally found out that the pink color is caused by decomposed crustacean shells. I didn't know I was allergic to crustaceans until I found out about the pink salt giving me an itchy rash, mostly on my stomach.
How did you manage to figure that out ? It is said the pink maybe the red is from natural Iron in the salt. That would mean the pink from crustaceans makes Himalayan salt not kosher? Not sure.
@@reccocon3442 ~ I found it out from my daughter who is a certified dietician and healthcare professional. For me, the gray Celtic sea salt tastes the best. It’s absolutely delicious, although I like Redmond’s too.
I agree. I like Redmond’s but it doesn’t completely dissolve in hot water when I need to make a brine for fermenting veggies. Also, when I use it in casseroles, even the fine salt, there are always crunchy bites. I still use it, but I prefer the Celtic.

Different flavors from each but I support Redmonds. I lived in the area and knew many of the families and the owners of the mine. The bentonite clay is also great. They are honest, use third-party analysis reports, and are 100% American. They have really grown in the last 20 years.

This is the answer from Google:
"The pink granules in your Himalayan Salt are natural impurities - minerals that come with the salt. They have no health benefits, but they're not dangerous either and they're definitely not adulterated. Adulteration is when a food manufacturer secretly adds something cheaper with the aim of making a quick buck."
