Great video. Knowing the fructose to glucose ratio in foods is very important to understanding how different foods with different G to F ratios are digested or not digested. This video explains that very well. I'm guessing that most people don't fully understand how that all works. This video explains that very well. Thank you for the detailed explanation on how it all works.
@@MarkCooperMD Hey Mark, i just cant seem to get my body to Digest any Sugars! Why does anything with Sugar give me a Migraine, even Fruit! What could be wrong with me? I've tried the Amylase enzyme and it didnt work.😒 Even Dextrose gives me a Headache.
I’m really mad and sad that I have been to over 5 gastrointestinal drs and none of them have helped me. It’s like they don’t know anything you mention. I’m in the Boston area . Where is your practice?
Same here! I am furious how useless they are. They work very inefficiently! I came to this conclusion by myself. I am gonna get it confirmed by tests. But it is crazy how my liver could have been damaged harshly by this. They even did p-bilirubine tests which showed something was off!!! CRAZY

Long shot here, but im struggling with my child. She has a GI, endo, and genetics is up to a year long of a wait. Shes been ftt since she was born. She was 6 lbs 2 oz and lost 15% of the weight and always struggled to gain weight no matter what. Shes 18 months now, barely 16 pounds, but she eats all day. She gets diarrhea from lactose products so shes all dairy free, bananas (1/2) will cause her to have soft bowel movements all day, up to 4x, same with avocado and to much watermelon. Blue berries can also do it to her as well. She cant drink juices straight with out it being diluted to the point where she can have a subtle taste but its mostly water otherwise she has diarrhea problems that also contains mucos. We tried duocal, but it still causes some bowel issues and i suspect from hcfs thats in it. All her labs are normal, stool samples came back normal. We havent done a glucose or fructose test yet. Are there any other tests we can try as well to figure out what is going on? If she eats normal traditional (Austrian) diet she has no problems, even experiences some constipation here and there and gains slowly. Her dad also has some gi issues that hes trying to solve with another gi doc. (Long background, sorry, im just trying to find answers and educate myself on nutrition for her sensitive stomach)
This sounds like possible latex food allergy. At least worth eliminating those foods as that’s really the best test. Avocado and banana are especially suspect. Eliminate latex foods for about a week and it should be clear. Banana Kiwi Fig Mango Cherry and other pitted fruits Chesnuts White potatoes Green peppers Celery There are some others. Google the term as a reasonable starting point. Pesto pizza can be a winner. Also if you note watermelon this may overlap with cucumber and other technical fruits of the melon family.
@@MarkCooperMD Thank you for responding to my comment, I appreciate this. I googled latex allergy symptoms as well and if she does have this, is it possible to A- have her doctor do some kind of allergy food test to confirm at her next weight check? and B-her only noticeable symptom is just diarrhea. In the past she used to have some red on the bottom eyelid but her doctor never seemed concerned about that and always waived it "she's probably tired and ready for her nap" her appointments have always been before her naps. Could this have been a missed symptom and be watery/itchy eyes but just redness rather than actually watering or itchy? She doesnt have any of the other listed symptoms
An allergy test is of limited reliability. What is more reliable is a one week elimination of relevant foods. As a bonus the reliable test also happens to be the treatment. What can be useful is should that appear to be the issue then at some point you could consider reintroducing foods. At that time an IgE test can be helpful in conjunction with evaluation by an allergist. The problem is the reliability of these tests is not that great. So when you do a wide panel the chance of having a fluke positive or false negative result becomes very high.
@MarkCooperMD we did start eliminating, might be a little early to fully tell right now. But thank you for explaining, I didn't know that allergy testing could cause flukes. Thank you for sharing
Yes it can. Apples and pears have a lot of excess fructose. So do melons. Blackberries have naturally occurring sorbitol. Follow what fruits cause more issue. While these symptoms can be bothersome they aren’t harmful.
@@MarkCooperMD yeh i worry too much. Been doing great having nice stools for now and then looser. Funny cause does are all the fruits i love to binge on!! Could you explain in a video lactose intolerance? Sometimes im fine with it and other times wow does it f*** me up.

Thank you for the generous and kind feedback - I’m happy it came across in an easily digestible format. Pun fully intended.

I’ve seen patients be night and day within 3 days when it is latex foods.
