This is one of the reason we like to travel outside of the US because tips are usually not expected and so much more appreciated! Unlike in the US where you feel an obligation to give a 20% tip no matter how good or bad the service was.
Travel with NJ Steve it’s not the employee’s fault though in US. It’s the system shaped by the government that promotes individualism that worked but flawed now compared to many other system in the world. But singapore is a service based society. Feedback is very important and negative feedback can mean losing job and deportation and family going hungry. It’s different than many immigrants in the us. If deported they can find a way to come back, but not in singapore. Btw in us she might get beat up around this time around due to the fact that she’s chinese and immigrant..
Outside of the US it's the responsibility of the employer to pay the staff not the customers, in many countries people get a decent pay so tipping is not needed
This made me smile. The way you injected that little bit of happiness into a world thats otherwise really dark and hopeless now. Truly kind hearted souls.

The crazy part is she probably would have acted the same way with 50$, housekeepers are so under appreciated 😕 thank you for making her day!
I’m glad you enjoyed your stay here in Singapore. Thank you so much for being so kind and generous to the housekeeper. From her accent, she must be a foreign worker from China. Over here in Singapore, tipping is not an obligation but very much appreciated. So she probably never have and will never receive this much of tips ever. I’d say most of the time if she even received any tips would be SGD$5-$50. Depending on how generous her employer is, USD$500 should be around half or maybe more than half of her basic salary and it’s so much amount that she dare not accept! 👍👍👍
Im usually the most cynical, jaded, pessimistic person about EVERYTHING. But no negative thoughts came to mind while watching this! Kara and Nate are two of the most genuine people I've ever watched. They have come a long way in their journey and all I see is two people who just want to give back and sharing it on camera is just to let everyone see the difference a kind gesture can make for someone else! Lighten up, people. This was a very good thing to see during a very uncertain time in our history. Love you two a lot! ❤

This made her able to not only provide for her family but gave her a bumper for the rough days ahead for her. I have been out of work for 2 months and i know my team has been struggling to make ends met. SO thank you so much for being so generous to these hardworking staff members!
I love this. She had such a genuine reaction. I've had people tip me a lot at work (nothing like this), but 100+ and it's made me cry before. When you're working and in the moment, you often don't think about something like this so it catches you off guard. If I'm also preoccupied and/or busy, you can get a great reaction from me!!
Thank you for doing this!! I used to be a housekeeper and let me tell you they don't make much. So whenever we received a tip it was the highlight of our day. I remember getting $40 one time and a thank you note. I couldn't believe it! I always leave a tip now whenever I stay in a hotel. 😊❤
What an honest person. To see that much with a note saying it's for her, but still not taking it without them handing it to her. The world needs more of her.
I worked for YEARS cleaning rooms in hotels, You both made her day I can promise you that!!! I was once tipped by a guest staying for an extended time, this person did the same thing. I did not take it either, the price for taking it is so high in some hotels. (Fines, being fired, JAIL even) Also you never know if it's a joke, or something not nice.🤔 Turned out the man missed his family and I talked to him when I was in there and also tried really hard to give him good service. So he felt like I had gone far and above, my employer had to tell me it was OK to take such a large tip. I have always hoped and prayed he got great service every where he went. Thank you both for this kind gesture to this hard working woman May God Bless you I just Subscribed 🥰 Washington State, USA

Dear ones - BLESS YOUR HEARTS! That was such a precious, kind thing to do for that lady. She will never forget the kindness you showed her. You may never know how such a gift, given out of love and kindness, will impact her life and probably the lives of those around her. When I was 5 years old, my mom came home from work with a $100 dollar bill, left for her at work, anonymously. She was so happy - she let each of us kids hold it! It was Christmas time and I remember all 5 of us kids received the present we most wanted that year - mine was a doll. I didn't know the story behind this gift until 18 years later, at my mom's funeral. Two men walked up to her casket and introduced themselves to me and shared this story - they had left the $100. All these years later, when I remember their generosity and caring hearts, I am moved to tears. It made a huge impact in who I am. Thank you for sharing such beautiful joy with your viewers - may it inspire many acts of love and kindness. God bless you both in a new and special way. Journey on.

Because in the US if you don’t tip your tipped employees they make (in Texas) $2.13 an hour...
ruby mullen but businesses will cover that to 7.25 federal minimum wage if no one give tips.
Outside of the US it's the responsibility of the employer to pay the staff not the customers, in many countries people get a decent pay so tipping is not needed
Jkjkjk wow!!! A whole $7.25 an hour??? Doesn’t even buy a happy meal.
Imagine how much that money helped her, you guys are actual angels❤️😁
This made me smile. The way you injected that little bit of happiness into a world thats otherwise really dark and hopeless now. Truly kind hearted souls.
the world needs this right now. that woman will forever remember you guys, as you will forever remember her.
loved how she was just casually glancing at the money every few seconds
I know! Cracked me up!
I thought maybe she couldn't read the note in english and was confused as to why all that money was just laying there! lol
Probably she's never seen that much money. God bless em for it though.
Yes, she did not understand the note in English and was quite confused with the money all laid out...also clicked a picture later to know what was written...you guys really made her day!
@@stko6615 seriously? She earns at least twice that per month. No one gives that much in tips.
This is one of my dreams. To one day be able to give someone a big tip that makes them think it was a mistake. This make me laugh and cry. Thank you for this experience.
It's not important how much you give but how many times you do it, your intentions are all that matters. "Be the change that you wish to see in the world".
@@R0thezZ my husband and I have at times. Just do as much as we can, when we can.
@@R0thezZ Plus, money isn't the only thing you can give! You can give your time, expertise, advice, ears to listen, a lot of people are grateful for these gifts as well :)
Ikr, I just love doing these things, if only I had loads of money to give.
Will you do it on camera, so you can make money off of it?
I'm late to this video, but as a housekeeper of 4 years and management for 2 years. This absolutely was the highlight of my night finding this video. Bless you both.
This made me cry the whole time, how sweet of you guys. Really inspiring!
Travel Interesante true me too. That was good.!!
This made me cry too! So sweet of you guys to do!!!! ❤️
UA-cam money, I give away easily
Really? You tube cash...
you two are some of the most kind hearted humans I have seen here on this platform. it's so amazing to see people helping people. i seriously cried probably just as much as the lady and kara together lol. you two really inspire people to be a better version of themselves and i can only hope that once we can start to move around again people continue to be so kind.
She'll never forget you two and I'm certain she will pay it forward. All the good feels, all the tears! Thanks for sharing!🦊💖
SHE IS THE MOST HONEST AND LOVING PERSON EVER THANKS KARA AND NATE YOU ROCK
Her happiness made me feel like she needed the money. She was so happy that I wanted to give her more, maybe because I found myself in her situation before.
Anyways, God bless you guys!
When I was a kid, we lived in South Korea. My Mom tipped a delivery boy a dollar (this was 1968) and his boss got upset because it was more than the kid made in a month. This reminded me of that moment of pure joy on his face. Thank you for the bringing back that great memory and for being such amazing people. I'm addicted to your channel and really enjoy content. I'm truly a HUGE fan!
Daren Merchant oh. Darren. Did the boss take the money away? Knowing that the delivery boy’s boss was upset, I was worried and curious about how it ended up. I hope the boy still got the money.
@@marcuswijaya2569 He was able to keep the money. My Mom insisted on it and made sure that his boss understood that she would send more customers to him if he agreed.
Let's Translate (I speak Chinese)
5:01 "I shouldn't touch them"
5:29 "(Inaudible) Put them there?"
6:14 "That's too much!"
6:25 "Can I?"
6:58 "I'm Scared!"
7:34 "It's ok?"
8:01 "I'm gonna cry"
Her reaction was amazing! I love how excited Kara was to see her reaction. It was almost like a kid waiting for Santa to come, except Kara and Nate were the ones giving the present. Love you guys, and thank you for inspiring so many people around the world!
Amazing and wonderful at her response. She will NEVER forget that, EVER !!!!!
I worked as a room attendant before and I know how hard it is to do her job and it is very energy consuming, this video made me cry. Thanks Kara & Nate.
"There's more joy in giving than receiving!! " somewhere in the Bible
every religious institution made that their motto. Pass the plate, please!
somewhere in my mind!!!
Acts 20:35
Also in the bible: " But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret." Matthew 6, 3
Yet they made thousands on this video, pretending it’s a selfless act. It’s despicable.
When I I did extensive travel for my previous position, I had the opportunity to stay several nights at a nice hotel in Bangalore, India. I did something similar for the housekeeper and I had to give a written note so they knew I had actually gifted it to her. So appreciative, we forget what it is like in other countries, and we take for granted what we have here in the US. Good job, Nate and Kara!!!!!
One of the best videos o have seen during quarantine! Thanks for the attitude, guys! 💙👏🏻
I am a housekeeper in the hospital n when someone appreciates or value our works,it encourages us to do more..You guys are really awesome..Kindness is my religion.Love you guys..
As someone who cleans for an air bnb (though not currently, of course) and apartments, I can confirm that cleaning up after people can be nerve racking. Especially when the people don’t give AF. You deal with a lot of gross stuff.
I agree,I cleaned hotel room last year, was a five star hotel, sometimes I felt more like a garbage collector than a cleaner.
You guys laid that money out for just the right person. What a respectable young lady, working through the initial covid breakout must have been so scary. Bless her, thank you both for all the love and blessings you continue to share x
Oh my goodness! I’m in tears!! She was so honest, you can see her looking at it several times, so confused. Thanks for sharing this moment with us!
I’m literally just like Kara, it seems like every experience that makes her cry makes me cry. What a great video guys!
I'm actually about to cry watching this. Such a kind and generous thing to do for this lady, especially during such a challenging time. The lady was so humble and overwhelmed, it was so sweet! You are such kind hearted people and my favourite UA-cam channel to watch. ❤
Guys I cried total tears of joy that so little can meant so much for someone so hard working in the front lines of the pandemic. She was so humbled. You did awesome bringing joy and economic help to someone that probably can do so much for her family with that money. I'm still crying, you tugged at my heart.
What a lovely gesture to brighten up someone's day during isolation!
we gave our housekeeper double pay even though they missed last months cleaning! if anyone could, they should help those who can’t work from home! bless you!
I was in tears... The lady's reaction was so genuine. She's so blessed. So are Nate and Kara. Thank you!
Backwards hug.
Now there’s a great idea lol. Like a high five in a pool with feet.
Perfect add it to my weirdo list of things I’ve done.
I loved that hug! The whole video was wonderful but that was my favorite part :)
You guys are so sweet! $720SGD will meant a great load for foreign workers in SG.
Both of yall are motivations and inspirations to all of us! ❤️ Hope yall r safe back in the US
Kara and Nate, a big hats off to you guys for this great job. Housekeepers in the Philippines and Singapore are so sweet and caring!
She had the cutest reaction ever. It made me so happy to see how happy she was!
Luv the reverse hug!!
as someone that is an the hotel industry as a housekeeping supervisor, I see the struggles that our team goes through every day.
This made my heart smile. Thank you for putting a drop of joy in our day
That's exactly what we wanted this video to do! Spread joy and encourage others to do the same ❤
I hope once every thing goes back to normal you can continue your journey!!
The moment everything is even close to normal - we’re off! 🌏💃🏻
Thank you both for this kind gesture to this hard working woman
May God Bless you

I love this so much! As special as this lady is, in this part of the world it's not out of the ordinary to come across a good human just like her! I live in China, and she reminds me so much of all the lovely souls I connect with daily. Especially during this polarizing time, it's so important to remember that people are people. Thank you for sharing this!
Kara and Nate, you are both awesome and kind people. Thats a really huge tip for the housekeeper. In fact she take picture of the money as i guess she wants to protect herself to prevent misunderstanding. I can see she's a migrant worker from China to work in Singapore to feed her family back home in China. Once again your both awesome!
I love when people show generosity especially in such a hard time. People don’t think about people who are on the front lines unless they are healthcare workers. Love this🥰❤️
Realta 140 This was selfishness, not generosity. They literally used a poor woman to make money.
George L how?
Realta 140 By making a video that makes them more money than they spent out if it. It was planned. They set up 4 cameras to make sure they had it all on camera, to post it on here and make money. Giving is supposed to be done in private. Charity and investment are opposite things.
George L it doesn’t matter if it was planned because at the end of the day that money helped that women in a hard time
Realta 140 No, that’s not how ethics work! Are you even serious right now? Do you have no sense of right and wrong at all?!
Journey on.
My family lived in Singapore for four years a long time ago. This made me cry! Singaporeans are such lovely people. Thank you all!!
What an incredibly sweet, generous, caring thing you guys did. This virus is showing the character of us all. And yours shines through.
*As a previous housekeeper/custodian this makes my heart melt. What a wonderful gesture!*
As a housekeeper in a hospital, the thoughtfulness of your words, about how much housekeepers are having to do to keep everyone safe and not knowing what to expect when entering a room, hit home for me. Thank you!
The most purest soul! Your donation definitely made her day...but her reaction made my day
This right here is the reason why, UA-cam needs a love button. ❤️❤️
Me and my husband are your new subscribers. We’ve been watching your channel every night after our babies go to sleep. Your channel keeps us happy since we can’t travel these day during the pandemic. You two are such an amazing couple. This video is so touching.
That's amazing! She's saying "That's too much.... can I [take it]". She is so happy!!! This is so wonderful.
THE MAID’S HUMBLE ATTITUDE MADE MY EYES WET.
I normally travel 300 plus days a year and adamant about tipping hotel, valets etc.., this video gave me joy and made me cry. I have met some of the most amazing hotel staff who bend over backwards to make my home away from home comfortable. Due to virus, my travels like yours have been suspended until it is safe again. I just found your channel and was intrigued to see what you did next. So will vicariously through your videos for a while until I am cleared to be back on the road.
What an amazing gift you gave! My heart was just urging her to take the money. Thank you for sharing. You guys bring more joy then you know.
This is amazing. She deserves it, the purest human.
This video made me cry, it is so wonderful to see kind and generous people giving away not just money but even gratitude to all of the essential workers out there who are doing all there is in this time of crisis. Please keep up the inspiration work, this makes me wanna do random act of kindness
You two are so generous! Coming from someone who has been housebound because of an autoimmune disorder, I really wish I could give every frontline worker a TUB of money for trying to keep society going all while putting their own (and their families) health at risk. Thank you for taking your good fortune and passing it along to someone who needs it! That is the true capacity of the human heart! Much love to you both and safe travels!🧡
You guys got me teary! Thanks for acknowledging essential workers and Singapore welcomes you anytime!!! Stay safe and healthy!! Can't wait to see your videos again!!

As a Singaporean, I do wish to give fair props to the nationality of your housekeeper, who's actually a migrant worker from China, and she displayed such honesty and integrity - she was undeniably distracted that someone would leave so much money lying around, and clearly could not read the note written in English (as she needed to use her cellphone to translate and communicate with you guys). Hers, and you guys' reactions are so genuine and heartwarming! It is definitely great to receive, but greater to give!
Hi Kara and Nate, you probably won't read this but we've been struggling with depression a lot feeling trapped, and your videos and loveable energy give us hope and motivation to save up and follow in your footsteps. Thank you so much for your videos.

I cried watching this , your guys rock ! The housekeeper is a very humble woman she deserves a big hug from all of us too, thank you for going that guys !!!❤️❤️
Hopefully the supervisor and other employees didn’t pull the “we pull our tips together” crap.
Well, why not? (ok supervisors is a bit icky) but pooling together for normal staff does not seem unfair per se. Why should this one person lucky to be assigned to this room take everything while others get nothing? What if multiple staff members took care of the room throughout the stay?
@@frituurvlieg well she was the only one taking care of them that stay and they wanted HER to have it.
@@roostersideburns3440 What they should have did is give her a certain amount then say 200.00 of the 500 is for rest of staff, not just oh share. That way she is going to be guaranteed a good portion. My friend did that in Mexico. She gave her personal cleaner a percentage and then gave separate envelope to the other 5 workers cleaning other areas.

@@roostersideburns3440 okay, just at 8:38 *the supervisor seemed it was too much for 1 person, they said she can share it with other staff if she wanted to and seemed to make it okay. *
