Sometimes King of the Hill feels like Team Deathmatch as no-one takes the point... it's not a spies job to stand on the point letting the world know he is there...
sometimes... random happens... that's why I don't even accuse people of cheating on their first kill... sometimes the sniper does shoot the cloaked spy from cross the map... and sometimes random spawn scout does... well that!

I actually have a favorite loadout designed around each Spy watch, along with one for general silliness. Warning: This post will get wordy. Loadout 1 (The Noir): Big Kill (stock reskin) Big Earner Stock Spy Watch Red Tape Recorder This loadout is basically a slight twist on the basic Spy loadout. While some people would still pair the Big Earner with the Dead Ringer, I feel like it has more viability when utilized with the stock Spy watch, as you can cloak and de-cloak at will, and the movement speed gained from a knife kill just seems to gel better with the stock cloak. Red Tape Recorder is more of a cosmetic choice than anything, as this loadout (cosmetics such as A Hat to Kill For and the Chicago Overcoat included) is supposed to have the whole 'black and white Detective Noir' feel, and the Red Tape Recorder looks pretty similar to those old-fashioned movie reels. So just leave your cares and woes, and let your Sentries fall... Loadout 2 (The Sneak): L'etranger Conniver's Kunai Cloak and Dagger Ap-Sap (Stock sapper reskin) Ever wonder what it'd be like if the Spy was a Cockney thief, instead of a French assassin? This loadout was designed with that concept in mind. From health to cloak, there's nothing this loadout won't try to steal from someone. While less mobile than the previous loadout, the 'infinite' cloak of the Cloak and Dagger allows you to simply wait for the opportune moment. (And yes, this loadout does use the L'homme Burglerre and the Escapist. Why do you ask?) Loadout 3 (The Card Sharp): Diamondback Sharp Dresser (stock Knife reskin) Dead Ringer Stock Sapper This loadout is designed to push the odds into your favor by 'rigging the Roulette' with the Diamondback, and using the Dead Ringer to make sure your opponents don't make you cash your chips early. Cosmetically, this class is designed to look like someone who's won a bit too often at the card tables, complete with the Hat of Cards and a Blood Banker. Loadout 4 (THE ULTIMATE GIBUS!!!1): Ambassador Spy-cicle Cloak and Dagger/Dead Ringer Festive Sapper (Merry Smissmas, Engie. ;3) Do you main Sniper? Do you want to play a class other than Sniper, but they're not Sniper-y enough for you? Well, look no further than this Snip- I mean... this 'Spy' loadout. Best used to take out other Snipers, all you need is a quick head-shot, followed by a body-shot. The Cloak and Dagger is for early game against unaware enemies, while the Dead Ringer is for when they become more paranoid. The Contravening Prognosticator (also known as the Spy-cicle) is for when they inevitably go Rage Pyro. By using Lime and Pink cosmetics, specifically the Ghastlierest Gibus, the Marxman, and the Showstopper, you too can be a Sniper disguised as a Spy disguised as a Gibus. It's a foolproof disguise! (...So long as you're no fool...)
like this video says, I can do fine but it is only because 1 of the items does well... not the synergy. It would be like saying "can MrP do well with a dead ringer?" - yes "Can MrP do well with a your Eternal reward?" - umm yep "Can MrP do well with a low damage gun" - use letranger all the rime so enforcer wont be a problem. "Can MrP do well with all 3?!?!?!" - umm yep, but only because I do well with them alone, not because they are good to use together.
Letranger/Ambasador if they got a lot of razorback snipers/Revolver if a lot of pyros and i'm still spy, spycicle (just coz i like it) and invis watch. Cloack and dagger for trolling engies.
One of my favorite loadouts for spy is the L' etranger, the Cloak and Dagger, and either the stock knife or the Spycicle. Let's you stay invisible as long as needed, so you can calmly assess situations before going for the stab. The Spycicle lets you escape a random pyro spy check, at the cost of the enemy being more aware, what with the ice statues, so I generally use it on teams that let me get away with a lot. Anyhow, thanks for another great vid, Mr.P. :p
Episode #50 of this super helpful series. Thanks to you, my spy game has gotten so much better. I've even started getting a few trick stabs and self assisted stabs. Thanks for the helpful tips and advice!
razorback is the most useless 'weapon' in tf2 because it will only save you from spies using your eternal reward other spies will just shoot you while ur zoomed in eaven with the ltranger it takes just 3 quick shots
Ringo Pierzynski no spy wont be vulnarable because snipers are usualy alone behind their team and no matter how good of a sniper u are somebody will still be able to shoot you 3 times fast. first one would hit you while ur zoomed in then once sniper is trying to zoom out and the last one while he is reloading. ive been playing tf2 for 4 years and not once did i not kill a sniper just because of the razorback. get an smg or jarate they are better. you cant just lose them till you go back to spawn to the resupply cabinet and then you have to go to the battlefield and that means that you would be quicker to the battlefield if you just died. and if you dont get a new razorback you will be nerbous making you a useless part of the team. so use an smg or jarate or if there is an enemy sniper danger shield,at least that one could save you.
Well, jarate and the dds are obviously better, but realistically no spy will ever stab you with a razorback, just as in the video he did for fun. The razorback encourages snipers to stick by their team, and of course it would be useless when used incorrectly, like how sniping someone with an smg is terrible.
Ringo Pierzynski spy can backstab a razorback if they dont see it while going for trickstabs and razorback doesnt mean that ur not vulnarable by other classes like soldier that will be up front in those situations razorback cant do nothing. having a razorback doesnt mean that ur fine getting close to enemies because it does nothing in that regard and sniper wasnt made for that. sniper with a sniper rifle should be way back and hidden from enemies,he should just be headshoting people. and razorback is useless vs any spy with a pistol. if you think that the razorback will save you think again. 3 shots are quick so there isnt a sniper who would survive that.
The problem with spy loadouts is that there isn't really much variation with them. All the knifes are 1 shots. The watches kind of change how you hunt, and the eternal reward makes it harder to disguise, but there's no Spy Subclass. There's no "Huntsman Spy" or "Battle Spy" or "Spy-Knight," you know? Think about how different the rescue ranger or the flare gun are from the default shotgun. Anyway...
from reading the comments, these 40 minute videos are what we love to see Mr P. I can just listen to you play and hear your narration and be happy, ty for the vids Mr P!
Spy can't have a horrible loadout to be honest. You still stab enemies, in some cases you get rewarded for it. You still sap buildings... nvm the red tape recorder is horrible. You still cloak and you still fire your primary when you are in a tough situation. Spy's weapons are pretty balanced, while people will still go for the Amby, Stock, Dr, Stock, There are other alternatives that will do you well. The diamondback rewards you like an amby(both do the same damage and crit in certain times, the amby crits when you headshot, the diamondback gives you crits for doing your job as a spy, sapping and stabbing.) The Enforcer.... hmm.... okay I am not sure if they fixed the bug it's attacks don't pierce certain resistances. Stock items are always reliable. Letranger is good if you want to mainly use the knife more with its less damage but more cloak abilities. Big earner is for people who want to go on massive chainstabs. The kunai is great since you get 210 health, allowing you to survive more than you would have been able to with your squishy 125 hp. The spycicle is great for escapes from pyros and building paranoia. The cloak and dagger is great for infiltrating since you can have basically unlimited cloak. The dead ringer is great for faking your death and to help you run away like a little girl once you fail your trickstab or amby headshot(I hate maps with a lot of metal packs in, makes it so frustrating to deal with the spies who you cannot kill because of the dr, but they cannot kill you since they keep trying to trickstab you but keep failing). All in all, you can use any weapons and still do great. There are only 2 weapons that are slightly worse compared to others, compared to other classes where there is much a bigger limit of great weapons.
Fellow spy main here Favorite loadout is Diamondback, stock, Kunai, or as I like to call it; Death or Glory spy. There is very little margin for error, but you gain an insane amount of power once you master it. This is the load out for a spy that's constantly on the move, as this load out actively encourages you to be aggressive, constantly getting stabs, getting crits with the Diamondback, and letting you refill your cloak while you're cloaked. This loadout works best on maps where you're on the attack, and the map has a decent amount of ammo packs to use(Like Borneo). It also works on defense, but this loadout works better when you're going with the flow of the push, rather than against it.
I just recently found your channel, and I can say you've motivated me to get back into 2fort. I used to play a lot before the menu changes. Very entertaining, thanks :D
My favorite loadout is Deadringer, L'Etranger, and Big Earner. I like your Overwatch videos but TF2 Spy videos are something else. Very relaxing to watch for some reason. Probably because of your voice + smooth spy play haha.
Mr. paladin, when you laughed at the scout, that was honestly the most genuine laugh ever, please do a montage of you just laughing at stupid stuff, that would be hilarious.
Right now I'm enjoying an old classic a lot, which some would argue got destroyed a while back, Vanilla Revolver and Knife with a Deadringer. It's pretty darn effective with the changes to the DR in the fact that it actually lets you get away effectively.
I was playing against a spy once who’s tactic was “Stand still out in the open without a disguise and wait for someone to trigger my dead ringer.” I saw him do this so much that when I cornered him in a hallway, I just didn’t shoot him. And he had no idea what to do without his dead ringer.
25:35 Well, that's kinda why people say it's a crutch. All the watches, and Spy in general, require competence to be sneaky, but DR is the one letting derpy Spies get away when they should be getting booted back to spawn for their endless failstabs.
Who else just can't stop watching that part when the scout stopped right by Mr. Paladin. EDIT: Anyways, congrats for 50 how a spy thinks. Keep it up Mr.P!
My friend and I are both spy mains, and generally we use the Diamondback, Dead Ringer, Big Earner, and default sapper. This loadout lets us be hyper-aggresive and help force objectives.
Good vid Mr. P. Learned a lot! Also i got a request: Do a series about playing spy, and spy tips, on SPECIFIC maps, like Dane's engineer guides but with spy!
Spy is like that one kid in a group assignment, He'll says he will do this and that. But when the time comes to pass the assignment, you all get a bad grade because he was actually in another group.
Been playing tf2 since 2007, 2010 on PC *shudder* the 360 tf2 days. I used to not play spy at all, because to be honest I was horrible. But thanks to your tutorials I have defiantly improved in skill. Going from butter knifing to trickstabs and picks. I have found myself at the top of the leaderboard instead of the bottom and even the occasional "Thanks for the carry spy" from my teammates. Thanks MrPaladin! As for my favorite loadout it's probably my "Shoot n scoot" loadout. Because Stab and run doesn't have the same ring to it. Revolver: L'Etranger (Extended cloak, but able to pick off low health enemies) Knife: Big Earner (I like the get away options it gives as well as extending my chain stabs to those farther away.) Watch: Enthusiast's Timepiece (Stock watch is always a solid choice, I just like the reskin) Sapper: Ap-Sap (Love me some Wheatley)
I love how you leave the pyro alone while he types. How sweet.

I tend to use all stock but with diamondback for primary. I do my job, sneak in, sap, stab, get out, then crit some bombing soldiers that chase me.

A golden fob watch, a 'golden' revolver and a 'golden' knife, Mr.P being classy
i love how you don't have an ego with all that skill. keep up the good work m8
Right now I'm enjoying an old classic a lot, which some would argue got destroyed a while back, Vanilla Revolver and Knife with a Deadringer. It's pretty darn effective with the changes to the DR in the fact that it actually lets you get away effectively.

I just love watching this moment hahah.
Love the load out he's using on payload maps because as long you don't get cornered or swarmed you'll do fine.
He's so chill for a guy who mains the class that is all about silently murdering everyone he sees lol
"How did he flame me? He wasn't even looking at me!"
Welcome to Team Fortress 2's very own Pyro.
The scary ppart is at when the Scout looks up to you.
That scout at the last few seconds of the first map scared the crap out of me.
I was playing against a spy once who’s tactic was “Stand still out in the open without a disguise and wait for someone to trigger my dead ringer.”
I saw him do this so much that when I cornered him in a hallway, I just didn’t shoot him.
And he had no idea what to do without his dead ringer.
Seeing Mr. P use the enthusiast’s timepiece makes me sad that the poker night games are gone from steam :(

Well, that's kinda why people say it's a crutch. All the watches, and Spy in general, require competence to be sneaky, but DR is the one letting derpy Spies get away when they should be getting booted back to spawn for their endless failstabs.
mr.paladin's games: he stabs and runs and at most 1 person cares.
my games: i stab, dead ringer, and have the entire enemy team on my tail
Also thank you for all the "How a Spy Thinks" Videos. Every single one has helped me get better as the game changes. Here's to another 50!
Thanks mr p watching your vids has made me play spy more and really improve my skills
05:00 that scout acually scared me.
I usually use stock with spy to check their loadouts and better fit the situation with a different loadout
Hey Mr. P, I recently subscribed since I started play tf2 about a month ago. And I gotta say this is some pretty excellent content, keep it up!
Thank you for the kind words
It's nice how he's young enough to understand memes, and old enough to not be ragey and exercise very nice tf2 etiquette
5:00 that scout is probably used to the cloak and dagger spy’s who camp in corners and he knew a good spy was in the game so he checked the corner
I can normally tell the spies that always use the Ringer: They run straight at people, ringer, run away, rinse, repeat, for the entire round.
i dunno why every video thats long that u uploaded makes me keeps watching, what magic is this?
Mr Paladin can escape by taking any route he wants, but as soon as someone sees me it's like they're using walls
5:42 Here in 2020, seeing a sniper wearing a Skull Island Topper instinctively triggered me to reach for F1
29:00 it looked like you were pushing the cart backwards hahaha
Good vid Mr. P. Learned a lot! Also i got a request: Do a series about playing spy, and spy tips, on SPECIFIC maps, like Dane's engineer guides but with spy!
Spy is like that one kid in a group assignment, He'll says he will do this and that. But when the time comes to pass the assignment, you all get a bad grade because he was actually in another group.
A very nice video Mr.Paladin, keep up the good work.
I'm sorry but the scout with the conciensious objector with a photo of b4nny on it named "baney" is one of the funniest things I've seen
Mr. Paladin is the Bob Ross of TF2 videos. You just want to put him on and relax to his Australian velvet.
That scout suddenly staring at you made me jump lol
Revolver: L'Etranger (Extended cloak, but able to pick off low health enemies)
Knife: Big Earner (I like the get away options it gives as well as extending my chain stabs to those farther away.)
Watch: Enthusiast's Timepiece (Stock watch is always a solid choice, I just like the reskin)
Sapper: Ap-Sap (Love me some Wheatley)
I love the stock knife with the dead ringer and the diamondback!
it's so smooth it's great. Clearly an expert makes it look so easy
Love the How a Spy thinks Mr.P. Keep up the good work
Wow you left that pyro alone. Good man
5:00 "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID 'MR' PALADIN!"
