This was the marketing version of how the Ring alarm system works. I wanted the engineering version. I wanted to know the specific mechanisms by which the alarm would send a notification to my smartphone. How much interaction is required with what servers. That sort of thing. I wanted to evaluate the security and reliability and not simply be sold on purchasing the device.
Hey there, we appreciate your interest in Ring Alarm! We don't have any plans on releasing an engineering version of this video, however we'll send your interest in this over to our developers.
Great question, Ricardo! By default, your main entrance will have an entry and exit delay, which gives you time to leave after arming the system or disarm the system once you return home. This allows you to arm and disarm via the keypad, wherever it's located. Check out this article for more info: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360030784072-Setting-Ring-Alarm-Entry-and-Exit-Delays.
Hey Jenny! The Ring Neighbors app is free to download and use - you don't even have to own a Ring device to join. Check out more information here: bit.ly/2L1ua1H. Your mobile phone will just need cell service in order to connect to the Ring Neighbors app. If you are interested in a Ring product, please know that they do require a WiFi connection in order to send alerts to your phone via the mobile Ring app. Feel free to check out our full product line at shop.ring.com.
We appreciate that feedback, and will be happy to pass it along to our team. While we don't have an availability date to share at this time, we're excited to make Alarm available in the UK later this year.
Hey Rudy! We don't have any news to share at this time, however, keep an eye out on our Facebook or Twitter page for the latest updates on additions to the Ring Alarm system.

Hello can you please help on this? I bought a new house. The house has ring security system installed but it is under the previous owner. How do I put it under my name and have the app set up with all the components ?
Great question, Rob! With default settings, your Ring Alarm's Base Station will chirp when a sensor is tripped when in a disarmed state. If the system is armed and a monitored sensor is tripped, the Base Station will begin its entry delay countdown according to your settings and will sound the Alarm if not disarmed before the countdown ends. You can customize the chirp alert sound made by your Base Station within the Ring app, as well as the entry/exit delay countdown timers. Check out FAQ's on our Ring Alarm here: bit.ly/2UwqvNW and let us know if you have any more questions.
Hello Ring. I see you are selling an extender in the 13 pieces package. Does the ring base-station connects to it's sensors over wifi? or is this a direct signal from base-station to the sensors? I have wifi in my garage which is a long way from baste-station. Thanks.
This video clearly states that indoor sensors do no detect motion while in Home or Disarmed mode. But mine detect regardless of the mode how do I fix? The ringing while home is getting annoying.
Hi Jorge! You can update the Motion Sensor's settings to ensure they're not being monitored when your Ring Alarm is in 'Home' mode. To do this, open the Ring app > click the 3 lines at the top left > Devices > Alarm Base Station > Motion Sensor > Mode Settings. Select "Away Mode" and click Save at the top right to ensure your indoor Motion Sensors are only being monitored when Away Mode is active - learn more about the Ring Alarm modes here: bit.ly/2MtAQHA. If you have any more questions, feel free to give us a call: ring.com/callus.
Hey Robert! If your system is triggered while armed, you will receive a push notification to your phone which you can disable so the authorities will not be dispatched. You will also get a call from our monitoring team to confirm if the authorities need to be dispatched. Find more information here: bit.ly/2t0RpCL.
Hey Giovanni! Home and Away modes are currently for Ring Alarm only. By adjusting your Ring Pro's motion settings to your preference, you can be sure that you'll be alerted of any visitors on your property if you're at home or away. We hope this helps!

Yes it is common, but its the City or local departments that charges it. Has nothing to do with Ring or other alarm system. I paid $400 to Fire dept for a false alarm. Now I added Ring video cameras so I can verify Fire before I say yes for fire dept to go out.
Yep it's common. Charged by the city and varies by location. I got nailed with a 500 false alarm fee but only once. Kinda sucks but also they don't want to keep their resources tied up in false alarms
Saving video to the cloud makes no sense these day's. It makes more sense to have a SD card option on camera that you can access from phone anywhere. That way video is not constantly being uploaded to the cloud costing you data! SD cards are cheap. I know how well this works because I can access my wife's dash cam and see all the video's and even download them if I choose. very efficient! Ring just wants that $10 a month.
Hey Tracy, we appreciate the feedback and want to address your concerns. We use a cloud-based service for recordings so that you have access to Ring videos in case your Ring is ever stolen. Although Ring devices are not easily removable without the proper tools, we want to ensure you a recording to use as evidence if your Ring is stolen. Rest assured that your Ring isn't using data when it's not recording or notifying you. We do also offer a $3/month Ring Protect Plan per device that ensures your Ring records and stores videos - see it here: ring.com/protect-plans. Please know that our Ring Protect Plans are an optional service and our neighbors can still enjoy the convenience of motion alerts, Live View's, the Neighbors feed, and more without a monthly or yearly subscription.

I'm about to purchase some ring equipment but have a couple questions. Does the ring alarm and all of rings cameras work together? Like can it be set up where if the door is opened it will start recording with one of the cameras? Also will any of this stuff work with smartthings? I have a smartthings hub and multiple door sensors and motion sensors. What about with alexa? Like asking alexa to arm the system etc... I just don't really know what route to go because essentially the smartthings hub and sensors basically work the same way this does without the monitoring. I already get alerts when doors open and so on. Would it be worth getting this or would the money be better spent on more sensors for smartthings? Thanks
Buy sensors for smart things. The ring system is for people who want a more out of the box solution(aka simpler). Smart things works with any generic z-wave sensor and lets you program the logic and triggers. Buying this would kinda be a waste of money if you already have a z wave setup programmed to your liking.
