Amazing video, you've explained your thought process so well! Your rationale for not filtering in 12mph traffic matches mine when I used to commute on my Transalp (the old one!) from the Essex borders to central London. The only problem being that I needed to stay off the middle of two lanes as plenty of other motorbike commuters would happily filter at much higher speeds than 12mph. Really curious about why you were pulled over, will keep an eye out for the video! Strongly considering getting a bike again, probably something boring like an NC750X or similar sit-up-and-beg 700-750cc.

I have a rear view camera and blind spot detection system that really helps
Agreed......... Generally, I would constantly be keeping a close eye on the mirrors so that you're always aware of what's going on back there as well as ahead. As seen on the video, you get used to things happening like the white car wanting to move over with you in the blind spot and then constantly flying up to overtake again and again as well as the van hoping to embarrass you off the lights. When coming up to any sort of manoeuvre, you're already ahead of the pack with those observations behind you leaving just a quick look over your shoulder to check that nobody has crept up unseen beside you. Despatch rider for thirty one years and regardless of how good I was at spotting the dangers, they kept coming up with new and innovative ways of trying to kill us. As for u-turns they can be tricky depending on road conditions, cambers, parked cars etc so make sure you have room and it's safe to commit to that manoeuvre as you don't really want to stop halfway and risk dropping the bike. Double check if it's neccessary in the first place as there may be an easier turning area ahead saving you the worry. Finally and probably first of all, if you're not happy about doing u-turns, just find a quiet carpark and practice doing them. There's no magic ingredients even though some videos claim such things so practice, practice, practice. Keep it between the hedges........
Hi! Glad your finding them useful. Defo go get professional lessons tho!! I'm far from perfect! Il certainly give roundabouts a go for you! Ride safe! 👊🏼
@@RTPOV Yamaha mt 125 I've been riding for 8 years and you learn a lot with experience you start to notice patterns with drivers and anticipate what they do and 90 percent of the time we are right just about being safe ofcourse have fun at the same time 👍👍👍
ok, two questions: first, at 1:53, you're moving thru the tunnel, and I don't get it _ if you guys drive on the left side of the road, what's with the double yellow line? Are you allowed to cross it, or is that left side an oncoming lane? And second, at 5:12 , that's insane to see a yellow light flash before going green. they don't do that here in the US. its still fairly easy to time traffic lights, but that seems like it would be helpful. do all the lights over there go yellow before changing to red AND green?
Hi, so the tunnel is like a dual carriageway so has 2 lanes of traffic in each direction. The double lines are to stop cars changing lanes while going through the tunnel. And yes the traffic lights turn amber before changing to red and green to let us know they are changing. In Brazil they actually have a countdown timer that shows when they are going to change. This is really helpful and I think should be implemented everywhere! Where abouts in the US are you? Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoyed the video!
@@RTPOV im in South Carolina, and nowhere of which I am aware in the US, definitely not in the southeastern US, lets you know its about to be green. I say helpful to me, but I jump lights as it is, along with filtering and splitting and any other tricks I can pull, since I ride year round and people are not used to seeing bikes on the road outside of key weeks of the year. and no, none of it is legal here, but as long as you aren't being completely reckless or showing off, you can speed and split through traffic right past cops and they don't care. Anyway, I think if the yellow to green lights was implemented here, I wouldn't be the only one jumping lights. at least for a while, anyway :)
Hi, it's a great bike. There's a few things to look out for tho. There's a good forum online called EuroKbikes with loads of great info! Would be better for you check that out
I hate when I hit 1st gear and a big fat fly hits my speedometer, just like in your case, mate at 2:57 . Absolutely disgusting and then I can't see my speed. It happens so frequently, it's annoying.
You have the power to get out of any traffic light potential sandwich 😊 But as you have alluded to. It's always prudent to keep your game head-on .Some drivers/ riders are totally clueless 😊 Filtering is legal, BUT their are rules to doing it. I hope the police were aware of this ?? S9me aee not sad 😢

Nice smooth ride, my only observation. At the last set of lights (with white van) would it not have been easier to use the lefthand lane as there was a bigger gap to filter up the nearside rather than come through the middle.
@@RTPOV I noticed, but there was nothing there, and it was the line of least resistance. Hopefully Liverpool gets a dedicated Motorcycle lane in every road.
Hey! Thanks for stopping by!!! No tips directly, but I'd say regardless of the bike, if it feels/looks like the gaps too small then it probably is. Sometimes I go through gaps I probably shouldn't as well. It's hard sometimes once you've committed to filtering and the gap tightens up. I usually just find a safe gap to tuck into if that happens... Where U based?
I would just say beware of those vehicles that just HAPPEN to wonder and gently close or narrow the gap..of course they do it on purpose,, they have very small minds and a jealous nature....

Great input thanks ! 💯
These videos are really great for a soon to be new rider!
Could you do one for roundabouts please? Unless I missed it somewhere
Hi! Glad your finding them useful. Defo go get professional lessons tho!! I'm far from perfect! Il certainly give roundabouts a go for you! Ride safe! 👊🏼
Great video for new riders very informative 💪💪💪
Thanks! Always get lessons from the pros for proper advice etc, but I'm glad my good and bad bits help! What you riding?
@@RTPOV Yamaha mt 125 I've been riding for 8 years and you learn a lot with experience you start to notice patterns with drivers and anticipate what they do and 90 percent of the time we are right just about being safe ofcourse have fun at the same time 👍👍👍
Nice bike! And yes very true and good advice! How come you've stayed on a 125 after all this time?
Loving your content! I may see you at some point because I work along the Strand. If you see a Z650 at some point, it might be me haha.
Ah nice one man! Thanks for reaching out. Yea Ill keep an eye out! Ping me a DM on insta if you fancy meeting up !
ok, two questions: first, at 1:53, you're moving thru the tunnel, and I don't get it _ if you guys drive on the left side of the road, what's with the double yellow line?
Enjoyed the video. I ride a Moto Guzzi V7 and based in Liverpool
Ah man nice one! Nice to see another local rider! Id be well up for a meet-up ! 👊🏼
GSA 1250 , Nottingham love filtering
Nice one man! Thanks for sharing and gimme a shout if Ur ever over this way!
Great video mate - really relaxing. I've recently seen a 14 plate K1300 with 13k miles. Appreciate your thoughts on reliability etc?
Hi, it's a great bike. There's a few things to look out for tho. There's a good forum online called EuroKbikes with loads of great info! Would be better for you check that out
Ride through liverpool to work sometimes in my car .my bike is k1300r unfaired bike same engine as yours.great video😊

Ride with scouse amigos .great group to ride with.
@jamespayne9422 Yea man love the look of the R ! Would love to hear it with the scorpion
@@jamespayne9422 Il look em up! Thanks for heads up!
Enjoyed the vid, came across the channel by chance. Ride a 2010 RT in London.
Hi! Nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by! Great bike! And I can only imagine what it's like to ride in London! 😜
Hi good videos. What's the
Screen on your bars and how did it attach to bike
It's a full dash cam/android auto/apple car play, rear view system with blind spot indicators. I'm really liking it. There's a link in the description to it.. it's by a company called chigee
Thanks
No probs.. sorry forgot to say also I've got a video on the channel with the install ua-cam.com/video/fSIdVnxvnns/v-deo.html
Good stuff! Greetings from California, where it's legal to split/filter. UP the Reds!
Triumph Speed 400 and a BV 400. New sub!
Hey!! And welcome ! Lovely to hear from you from so far away! Sunny California! Amazing! Never been. Only ever been to the east coast. NY/DC etc... thanks for stopping by and saying hi!! 👊🏼
Awesome awesome video
Thank you!
Good bit of safe riding Im from the midlands riding as Kawasaki H2SX se . like the rear camera idea , is it classed as a rear mirror in law though as your shouldnt have any video display on ?
just asking as I would like to do the same so what is that rear camera set up please
not what's it's officially classed as, but it's fully legal. obvs wouldn't be watching UA-cam vids on it 😄😄
there's a link in the description to the one I use, and an install video on my channel
Nice smooth ride, my only observation.
At the last set of lights (with white van) would it not have been easier to use the lefthand lane as there was a bigger gap to filter up the nearside rather than come through the middle.
Hi Alan! As always nice to hear from you! I believe that lane is for turning left only
@@RTPOV I noticed, but there was nothing there, and it was the line of least resistance.
Hopefully Liverpool gets a dedicated Motorcycle lane in every road.
Haha that would be nice!
I would have used that left lane,, I have little regard for turn left arrows if it clear and at the front...
@@lipsee100 next time I go that way il scope it out !
do u have any tips on filering with wide bars and bar end mirrors. sometimes i worry if ill be able to fit
@@RTPOV cornwall
Yes it happens all the time..but there's far more people that give space I feel
Ah man love Cornwall! Not been since I was a kid. Am long overdue a visit. My wife's never been and is a keen paddle board/surfer
I’m on a Horwin CR6. baffles me how many people opt to sit in traffic with one person in the vehicle. To each their own I guess but I’m all for being on my way.
Hey! Nice bike for filtering! Nice and nimble! Yes I agree and the amount of them sitting on their phones is shocking!
@@RTPOV phones/noise cancelling headphones. You name it. Anything to not be paying attention.
Is there a community of motor riders in the uk
Yes Lots of different ones! Why do you ask? Where are you based?👊
My Brother Chris and his mate Kevin (Sparky) fitted the road hump in the bike lane you enter the tunnel over. 😊😊👍👍 Royden Construction who where based in Wirral. Is your bike a BMW k1200s or K1300s or other. Nice bikes, any issues. 😊😊 Thanks for video, Vinny. 👍👍👍
Haha no way! Ill be thinking of this comment every time I go over it now! Might even give them a shout out! haha.
Yes its a 2013 K1300s. No issues yet (touch wood) other than the usual overheating around town. What you riding?

Struggle on most bikes, ZZ6 is fine GPZ 9R is fine, my ZZ11 is just about ok. YZF's are ok too, now that I lowered it a bit. 😊😊😊😊😎😎😎😎
Oh wow that is lots of fixing! I have one that needs doing and that's bad enough! I'd say go for the 1300s if you can. I think the 1200 had a lot of issues that was fixed with the 13s .
