Hiya buddy, smashing video again really enjoyed it. I'm very worried for the British population mate, surely being stuck in traffic like this cannot be good for mental health?
I’m mostly shocked at how empty lane 1 & 2 were for all that distance at the end. That won’t help with clearing the traffic if people don’t use all the available road space
1:54 I would stay to the left of lane 3 to increase the chances of being seen in the mirrors of those in lane 2, rather than moving to the centre of lane 3
Thanks for the input. Yes, its a tricky one that.. being so close to them could be an issue if they did decide to move out, butI. agree with the visibility point
I'm a new rider, Just coming up for a year now, I've done abit of filtering and love it but some of the filtering I've just seen in this video gives me the fear, Especially between trucks and vans 🫣 I'm sure it'll come with experience 👍🏻
I had a pretty long one on my Mumbles vid it was so pleasing but man it was tough on the clutch wrist lol. Not sure of the realtime as I sped it up for the vid.
Well done! Just take it easy, plus winter is coming too so an added bonus, my final job as a courier was Manchester to Cumbernauld in January on my FJR, it started snowing outside of Glasgow and had settled when I got to my drop. The back end stepped out in the snow by about a foot, I couldn’t touch the brakes but I kept it upright ‘til I got onto a salted road. My luck held out but I realised I’d used my nine lives up and called it quits.
@@nicolasetherton2534 yea that would do it! I'll be riding through winter, but not if it's snowy or icy. It's not too bad in these parts tbh, we don't get too much of that. Mostly just wet and windy.
On the continent, France and German most car drivers give way to bikes. Germany has a rule to create a gap for emergency vehicles between outer lanes. Driving standards in the uk are abysmal. Often thought about a electric sign on rear of top box, thank you, merci , danke perhaps with a suitable comment for the lane blockers? All done from the wiz wheel.
@@RTPOV thinking of “F U 2,” but then you are becoming as bad as them. Filtering much easier on a sports bike, GSA/RT more demanding and limiting, mirrors give indicator of bike width. Very surprised by errant lorry driver.
@@jeanjacques9980 exactly! I never feel the news to retaliate towards them. Just get passed and get on with the journey! Yes I can I imagine the higher mirrors being a problem
my son in law blocks bikers from filtering. Me being a biker, we’ve had a few disagreements about this behaviour, but he’s done it since he had a mirror smashed off by a filtering biker who just took off on the motorway, and it cost him a few hundred quid. I tried explaining most bikers wouldn’t do this, wouldn’t go so fast and wouldn’t attempt to squeeze through a gap if they judged they wouldn’t fit but he just won’t change his ways, he says he not taking the chance again.
That's an interesting perspective. Thanks for sharing. If I ever clipped someone I would stop and offer to pay for any damage. Maybe show him this video? His story has made me wonder though, was he already blocking the bike and squeezing the gap. Did the biker intentionally hit his mirror off? If not, and on a motorway he would have had to have been pretty far over in the lane for a bike to have hit him accidentally making me think he was perhaps already blocking the biker and squeezing the gap? Unless he was in a standstill and already in that position?
@@RTPOV Naaahhhh...... You as a biker have the bonus that you can filter so just accept that when it works, instead of accusing everyone of intentionally blocking you. Driver in his lane has no legal requirement to see, acknowledge or move over for you, it's up to you to move on when safe to do so. P.S. Do not ride behind or close to cattle/sheep transport vehicles as it can be very messy.......
@fabianmckenna8197 I agree with you and am in no way accusing everyone of intentionally blocking me? Where did you get that from?. Out of the hundreds of cars I passed in the video only a handful did. Did I rage and cry about it? No. Im just pointing out what can happen and how I approach it. Far from perfect and something I'm learning to improve on. Most cars in fact don't move out the way, I don't expect them to and don't need them to as theres already loads of space. Also, the ones who do move out the way as can be seen usually move way more than's necessary, but thats just a nice reassuring gesture.
@@RTPOV Of course you can look at my point as meaning everyone is intentionally blocking you which they obviously aren't OR that everyone who blocks you is actually doing it intentionally. You're making progress so just accept that you are twenty minutes ahead of those back in the queue rather than grumble about drivers not moving over for you ......... "Even when you flashed your headlights at them, twice"
Maybe if he'd moved over to let the bike filter, he wouldn't have had his mirror damaged. One day he will block the wrong biker and get his mirror ripped off again. Courtesy costs nothing, especially when the biker is doing nothing wrong, and the driver has nothing at all to gain by obstructing another road user just trying to make progress in traffic.
its annoying how people block bikes filtering but its always the bikes that filter at proper filter speeds not the people being reckless going through at 25+ mph because they don't have time to block them just let bikes through if you're angry or annoyed they can filter through traffic go buy a bike instead of being a child about it
Getting angry while in charge of a vehicle is driven ng without due cate and attention. Anger makes for real poor decision making. The guy in the truck at the front is how everyone should be.
I' don't think it was the hot start problem. Think mines had the upgraded loom to sort that. Think it was just the battery. I've recently fitted those high powered LED lights and my Chigee would have been drawing power too. Might be due a new battery ..🤔
@RTPOV mine also has the upgrade, but if it gets hot from filtering (the 2D dash doesn't display temperature) and stall it ( it happens) then it can be very slow to turn over/refuses to start, give it 5 minutes and it turns over at normal speed/starts. I have a lithium battery. I doubt it is due to any current draw from your accessories unlikely to be more than 10A total on top of the existing draw.
Hmm... Ok that's good to know. Thanks for sharing....1st time it's happened to me so will keep an eye on it. I might do a test and see if I can emulate it.
Cats eyes... What a con they were. Someone managed to convince an MP somewhere that they were a good idea and necessary enough to spend taxpayers' money on so they can "keep us all safe" (and so their mates, who coincidentally manufacture cats eyes, can give them 10% of their profit under the table as a thank you). Now they decided their same mates need to be paid to pull all the cats eyes out. There are more recent, far worse examples...
I find that a good way to not get annoyed when someone blocks you, is to just know that as soon as that gap opens and you go through, they've probably just made themselves even more angry at being stuck in traffic because they didnt accomplish anything and you didnt give them the satisfaction of a reaction, which is what they want. Much appreciated! 😊
Good video, excellent advice. Thanks for taking us along on the ride and well done! ;) Keep the shiny side up. Best wishes from the Lone Wolf in the lakes.
Many thanks! Maybe get up there for a ride one day together! 👊
You`re welcome @@RTPOV There are plenty of stunning views around the lakes. Where do you fancy taking a ride? Would be good to meet up one day and perhaps we could create a dual vlog.
@@LoneWolf-Uk Yes for sure! I'd be up for going anywhere! Its so beautiful up there! I'd take your local knowledge !
Hiya buddy, smashing video again really enjoyed it. I'm very worried for the British population mate, surely being stuck in traffic like this cannot be good for mental health?
haha,, yes we are all doomed! unless you get a motorbike! Haha
Instead of a wave i just stick my leg out bud 😂 hopefully they get the picture. If not its not a big deal 👊🏻 ride safe
I've never tried that one.. will give it a go! Thanks! 🦵
Love your voice man 🙂
Aww thanks man! 🤗
I’m mostly shocked at how empty lane 1 & 2 were for all that distance at the end.
That won’t help with clearing the traffic if people don’t use all the available road space
I guess coz it was moving to one lane up ahead
1:54 I would stay to the left of lane 3 to increase the chances of being seen in the mirrors of those in lane 2, rather than moving to the centre of lane 3
Thanks for the input. Yes, its a tricky one that.. being so close to them could be an issue if they did decide to move out, butI. agree with the visibility point
I'm a new rider, Just coming up for a year now, I've done abit of filtering and love it but some of the filtering I've just seen in this video gives me the fear, Especially between trucks and vans 🫣 I'm sure it'll come with experience 👍🏻
I once was thanked by a wave of the leg/foot. Maybe try that.
Haha, I've seen it but never tried it 🤣
I had a pretty long one on my Mumbles vid it was so pleasing but man it was tough on the clutch wrist lol. Not sure of the realtime as I sped it up for the vid.
Love it! Great vid 👌
Thank you so much!👊
Nice stuff but was your justification for undertaking after you got your bike started and left the hard shoulder?
Is it a dumb question to ask whether you can filter on the right side of the right hand lane?
No question is a dumb question. Its actually a good question that. I'm not sure wether you can or cant, but it would defo be the more dangerous option
12 years despatch riding and this was part of the job.
Wow! Bet you have many stories to tell! I've just got back on 2 wheels this year after a 10yr break
I never liked strong winds, especially on exposed stretches, the M62 up to Leeds was always bad.
@@nicolasetherton2534 yea big side winds are pretty scary
Get yourself a high powered lithium ion battery.
Also might be worth carrying a power pack like Jumping Jack, can charge phones and boost vehicles.
Yea got it changed the other week thanks!
Haha imagine the reactions! 😄👏👏🏍️💨
@@RTPOV yes often in line with car mirrors.
a nod is enough TBH. I prefer to keep my both hands on the handlebar when filtering...
What an absolute beast of a bike 😊
(Also was this the M5?)
Yes she is! What you riding? Was M56

my son in law blocks bikers from filtering.
@@RTPOV
Of course you can look at my point as meaning everyone is intentionally blocking you which they obviously aren't OR that everyone who blocks you is actually doing it intentionally.
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍
Great video ;)
Glad you enjoyed it
If you don’t want to take your hands off just give them a nod instead 👍👍👍
I do that in my car. It feels like I'm prostrating to the car that gives way to me 😂
Often ive seen bikers kick a foot out to say thanks.
Thats puny, thats every day going clockwise round the south of the M25
Wouldn’t expect anything less from a taxi driver. Some of the biggest bellends on the road.
How late were you for the meeting?
canceled late 🙈
I've literally never seen so many good bmw drivers in all my life of driving which is 20+years lol
Haha.. I know! They are breaking the stereotype!
@RTPOV literally, next stop Audi drivers 🤣🤣
@@thebluedaypodcast7020 1st nice guy here was in fact an Audi Driver!
@RTPOV yeah but I'm too ignorant to acknowledge that 🤣🤣🤣
@thebluedaypodcast7020 😂😂
03:55 Are you 'Legally permitted' to slide through between Vehicles in the U.K. ?
its annoying how people block bikes filtering but its always the bikes that filter at proper filter speeds not the people being reckless going through at 25+ mph because they don't have time to block them just let bikes through if you're angry or annoyed they can filter through traffic go buy a bike instead of being a child about it
Getting angry while in charge of a vehicle is driven ng without due cate and attention. Anger makes for real poor decision making. The guy in the truck at the front is how everyone should be.
He was awesome! 💯😎
Typical K problem, give it a couple of minutes to cool down and it will restart.
To fast.....you like your filtering vids dont you.
Don't flash your headlight, just turn your high beam on when filtering like this during the day.
Yea, good shout... that's prob the better option 👊🏼
