Wow thankyou very much! I'm a total novice so that really means a lot! I still need to adapt it to lower it into a more discrete position, and I was thinking of a custom mould where the fittings are instead of just the bolts and washers.

Good work. An alternative approach that I took on my 1300S HP was to make some ally top hats that press into the inner ends of the handlebars (where the plastic blanking plugs are) and have m8 threads in to take a RAM ball. I have ram arms splaying backwards and outwards with phone on one and satnav on the other. I filed away a bit of the ram arms so they clear the stem of the ram balls and splay a bit more than they otherwise would. Works a treat. Leaves a good view of the clocks and access to the ignition key. I stuck a GoPro mount onto a blanking cover for the Garmin Zumo which puts it just below the top of the screen (avoiding wind noise) with a great view of the road/track and the clocks

  • @psycotria

Yeah, there's only room for my cap above the clocks on my K1200S. As the original owner installed a center RAM ball, that's where I'd put one, if I get it. Thanks for sharing.

Really like what you’ve done here. I’ve got the quad lock set up on the 12s and it does the job but doesn’t look good. I’ve been looking at chigee to see the reviews and it’s a bit of an outlay but you’ve made it look good. Great bike too… I’ll stick with my 12 for now until an affordable motorsport comes up. 🤪

Hey! Thank you very much! Love the 12s also! I was tempted by the Motorsports, but fell in love with it in black and this one came up at a decent price at the right time!
Yes the outlay for chigee is something to consider. Have you tried running the discount code? 20% is a decent chunk off the total.
I also ordered the controller but I don't think it's needed as the screen is super responsive so just ordering the main system is all you really need.

Excellent idea. So many bikers seem to get rear ended by car drivers looking at their phones or generally being unacquainted with the location of their brake pedal; the footage would be useful for any subsequent insurance claim or police action. Just my thoughts.

On another note, I obtained the BMW supplied plug to go into the accessory socket for the Chigee as well. I am finding that when I plug my BMW battery charger into the aux socket (left side of frame), the Chigee fires up again! It was on all last night by the look of things.

Hi, Nicely made video. I have a k13s motorsport and love tinkering with it but I am struggling to find the advantage of fitting one of these over a decent smart phone mount. I understand the rear camera feature is good but what else does it offer me that my phone doesn't? am I missing something? as £450 is a lot to spend on just a rear camera screen. Thanks for any advice

    • @RTPOV
      @RTPOV  Місяць тому

Hi, thanks for stopping by and glad you enjoyed the video. Love the Motorsport! I guess it's not everyone's cup of tea but for me the main benefits are
      1. Permanent Front and rear recording dash cams in case of an accident.
      2. Rear camera view
      3. Rear blind spot indicators.
In regards to the phone. I prefer having my phone in my jacket pocket in case I fall off etc and need to make a call. And when I stop for fuel etc I don't have to mess around detaching and reattaching it. The device powers on and off with the ignition and i can access my phone's features without draining the phone's battery as much as the screen doesn't have to be on. I can ride for hrs with sat nav and music playing and still have loads of battery left when I stop.
I have a 20% discount code that brings it down to £360 if that helps, but. It's still not exactly cheap..I think it's worth it for the above reasons but I understand not everyone will agree.

Many thanks! Quite the opposite! I've been riding it through winter! The previous owner did a good job at keeping it clean. Apart from under the fairings... it was quite badly corroded underneath with bad engine peel, and the paintwork was very dull and scratched from bad wash technique. I spent a month stripping and cleaning it all, repainting the engine, de-rusting the bolts and machine polishing the paint etc. I sadly never took any videos of the process because I hadn't started this Chanel yet, but do have lots of pics and can try and edit up the process if you're interested? I did document it on the Eurkclub forum with the great advice from the members there!

@@RTPOV Wow! Mine is the same as yours was; flaking engine and drive shaft paint and quite dirty under the fairing. The wheels were minging. I thought they were matt black until I got some alloy wheel cleaner on there and saw the lovely gloss paint/powder coat underneath (not sure which). I bought her from a Triumph dealer in Hampshire .....hmmm, disappointing. She had a cracked mirror too which I replaced at my expense.
Anyway, all that aside, I love the bloody thing. She makes me grin every time I drag her out!. The sound from that titanium and carbon Akra going through tunnels and letting the revs creep up a little...reminds me of a Lambo being ragged! Makes my neck tingle!
On another note (not an exhaust one this time) I was wondering which fitting you got for the yellow wire on the Chigee? I also have a Sat Nav cable connected to the battery with a socket that fits my Tomtom.
I noticed some other chaps spliced into the number plate light wire as that is a switched live.
I have a 1" RAM mount ball embedded into the BMW badge on the bars at the moment. I have been able to clamp the standard mount included with the Chigee to that so far. I have ordered a RAM mount for the Chigee from them, but they say it won't be available until mid June. If the current plan works out I might cancel that last order.
