I used to think this too, but now I believe it might be true. With how online the young generation is I think this could possibly be closer to the truth then many of us video game defenders like myself would like to admit. Hell cuckerberg is openly trying to get everyone hooked on the meta verse and blurring the lines even more. I also think the “cool” I’m not your parent I’m your friend shit isn’t helping with not creating boundaries. Nor is parents and “doctors” eagerly accepting and pushing the use of “happy drugs” to get those kids sedated helping this , it’s maybe the biggest issue .. and do people playing along with this gender is fluid Bullshit good for society. Why is hard to believe that kids are having trouble putting video games in proper perspective when adults are telling them they can be any sex ,hell it’s getting to any species at this time. You can be a cat and everyone is supposed to play along or you are a bigot. Hell you are probably one of these people that thinks it’s cool. I hope not because that’s anti science and anti reality . So if you are pushing this anti reality why do you think ths is so far fetched? These games are getting closer to reality then ever and it’s a hell of a lot closer to reality then saying you can just swap sexes or species and actually become the opposite sex. These people have tricked people like you into playing along with their delusions. So more then ever the dangers. Of video game being played out in the real world is poignant

The person calling out the persona 5 soundtrack was trying to take a stand against some vague nondescript injustices, but instead ended up being accidentally racist. Messed up part is a quick google search would have shown them the lyrics and also that Lyn Inaizumi is Japanese. Plus Lyn is an incredible singer, her accent gives her style a lot of charm.

It’s always impressive to me how people have hung on to a reactionary pamphlet written in the face of a world fresh off the heels of the Industrial Revolution where workers’ rights laws didn’t exist and businesses had far more power than they do now and firmly defend it as the ideal economic system no matter how many times we see that attempts to implement this system proliferates government corruption and oppression.

6:34 this exactly is the problem. I remember when I was a child, my parents would always tell me “remember, this is a game. It’s not real” and that statement alone shaped my perception on video games.

Omg absolutely... I literally had this exact argument as to why I'm finishing school early. I LOVE learning, right? However in gradeschool I taught myself everything that high school is supposed to teach you. High school wouldn't let me take more advanced courses because I "didn't have credits" for the simple classes. I ended up so bored and disinterested in the classes I was in that I was literally failing every one. I was put in the more private online "make up work" classes where the first thing they do is have you take GED pre-tests to see what skills you have and which ones you need to work on in order to meet standards. I aced them.. They just let me sit there now because they know I already know all the classes they were going to make me take. As soon as I'm allowed to by the district, I'll be testing out of school and getting my diploma early. Then I'll be able to work full time and save up money to move out of this horrid country... (y'know.. somewhere that it doesn't cost tens of thousands of dollars every year for lifesaving medicine)

You will have more fun overall if you moderate your time correctly. Spending all your free time playing games now might be fun, but future you will have more fun if you spend atleast some of that time doing something productive.
"Video games are always bad" is a bad take. "If I spend all my time playing video games" is also a bad take.
Good take: Video games are fine in moderation, but you should also make sure you are acting in a way that is good for your future. Just because you want to do something or you like it a lot doesn't mean it is actually what you want. My grandfather liked smoking. That is, until he got lung cancer and died at 60, leaving behind small grandchildren that loved him. Obviously video games aren't going to kill you, but every minute you spend gaming is a minute you could've spent doing something that will make you happier in the future than the games will now. Play some video games. Also do other stuff.

1. Is a brave, humble hero that regularly fights AGAINST tyrants, and card-carrying villains that brag about how evil
they are, and he fights AGAINST them because it's the right thing to do.
2. Has no problem accepting help from females, whether it's Princess Peach, Goombella, or the many other females
he has accepted help from in the past.

4. Has shown to be more than capable of solving problems with non-violent solutions when possible.
5. Has worked together with people that are part of species that he normally fights against (Goombas, Koopas,
Bob-ombs, Boos, etc.) and not only does he never express any bigotry, or discomfort from doing so, but he
has also developed strong friendships with said people (Goombario, Kooper, Bombette, etc.)
6. Showed genuine kindness to and befriended Vivian (Paper Mario: TTYD), who is highly implied (In the original
Japanese version) to be transgender and he never once showed any problems with it.
7. Is Italian (You know, an ethnicity that have been widely historically discriminated against, even by white bigots).
8. Was created by a Japanese man (Shigeru Miyamoto) and his games are created by a Japanese video game
company (Nintendo), which makes all the game journalists that insist Mario is racist because of "white game
devs that have feelings of racial superiority in themselves" all the more dumb.
Meanwhile, Ghost Of Tsushima is hated by game journalists despite having an all Asian cast (Japanese and Mongolian to be specific) solely because said game was made by an American company (Sucker Punch) and they (The game journalists) hate it to the point of getting mad at how people in Japan love and praise the game.
I would also like to point out that the complaints of bigotry that game journalists made towards Mario happened when Paper Mario: The Origami King came out (Which was also the same day that Ghost of Tsushima came out). In that game, Mario fights against a bigoted, perfectionist king that wants to kill every single one of the toads. . .Yes, Mario fights AGAINST a king that wants to commit GENOCIDE and game journalists think Mario's actions are that of a murderous, colonialist bigot. If you want to know why so many people dislike/hate game journalists, here is one of the many reasons why.

I've always taken hot takes and tried to guess what "trauma" the writer never truly emotionally dealt with that is causing them to write that article. Normally I usually think it's something small and petty, like Anita Sarkesian (or however you spell it) wrote her heart out on a writing assignment but a boy in her class got a better grade when he clearly phoned the assignment in. So instead of going to the logical conclusion that maybe she isn't as informed or as eloquent as she initially believed she was, she double down and would rather listen to the 10 whack jobs in the same boat instead of doing the adult thing and trying to better herself.
So basically I see people who make a living on writing hot takes as emotionally stunted nut jobs who would prefer everyone hate them rather than be wrong and correcting the issue.
People make their political parroting their whole personality so they can't turn it off to enjoy something.

@Christov S L Toreh What makes that interview even dumber is that both the woman, Cooper Lawrence (and Fox News) somehow thought Mass Effect, this "Rated M For Mature Audiences" game, was aimed at children (or more specifically young boys). They thought an M-rated game that was originally released on XBox 360 (A console that at the time was widely considered the "video game console for adults," and has games such Halo 3, Dead Rising, the Dead or Alive series, and the Gears Of War trilogy) and dealt with themes, such as war, bigotry, and genocide. . .was made for little boys. Furthermore, I'm very glad Geoff Keighley pointed out you could play as a FEMALE Shepard in the game, considering there are some people that either somehow don't know that detail (TED Talk) or consider games that let you pick your character's gender to "not count" as games where "diversity matters" (Anita Sarkeesian). I also find it eye-rolling when Cooper says, ". . .They don’t show women as being valued for anything other than their sexuality. . .," when all your teammates in the game including the female ones are shown to be three dimensional characters that are also great fighters (For example, Liara T'Soni is a scientist that's also a powerful biotic). For crying out loud, one of the most beloved characters in the series is Tali'Zorah, who is a female machinist that spends her whole time in an environmental suit with a one-way visor and is quite skilled with a shotgun. To top it all off, some time afterwards, Cooper later admitted, “Before the show I had asked somebody about what they had heard, and they had said it’s like pornography, but it’s not like pornography. Cooper Lawrence (the person complaining about Mass Effect) actually had one of her books bombarded by one-star reviews. Some of them were pretty funny, working in phrases like "I hope this book does not have a mass effect on the populace" to prevent amazon deleting them for being irrelevant. I don't really feel bad for her though as there are also plenty of valid reviews criticising the book as "pop-psychology" or "pseudo-psychology", advertising quick fixes for real problems.
Gaming practically got me through the roughest parts of my childhood. I might be losing my love of modern AAA gaming (because a lot of it is fake and really fucking gay), but I still reach for the classics that hold a special significance for me.

The problem with the rage bait articles is that even if it’s just to get a reaction out of the community, many developers are actually dumb enough to believe the topics these articles bring up are legitimate issues that need to be addressed.
That’s why a lot of them make the claims, without receipts, that concerns are coming from gamers themselves rather than just admit they have a personal agenda they want to push to force companies to bend their way.
It also does a lot to feed the rumor mill when you factor in those who see the headline but don’t know enough to confirm what it says or maybe even don’t read anything BUT the headline, yet they keep seeing the headline so they think it’s true.
Also when there is pushback or criticism they will use it to portray themselves as victims. Then they will do anything they can to have their critics branded with any ism or phobia to discredit any and all criticism they might receive.

I didn't even play the game or even a fan of it(more of a Half Life guy myself) but I know better not to mess with the Doom community. They're mostly decent peaceful folk, not something you usually see in most game communities(or perhaps my perspective is warped due to playing DotA2, Fo4, and Skyrim too much).

what happens in COD lobbies are not meaningful social interactions. they potentially could be, but even if they are talking to each other, majority of the time it's pretty superficial communication, if not extremely antisocial or hostile.
