Your tip sounds very reasonable to me. I've just started learning freediving and there is so much to take on that I'm not even thinking about the depth. I'm happy if I make few metres more or less correctly:) I don't know if being 43 helps or hinders my learning process but am enjoying it anyway:)

Welcome to the freediving world. Your age won't make much difference, personality type and experience in the water makes the most difference

I’m 55 years old and don’t need the depth.
I want the length of time underwater.
What video do you recommend for holding breath longer?

      Hi Rick
You need this video from Freedive Passion
      ua-cam.com/video/81SPPegdQNE/v-deo.html
It's about making breathhold training easy.
      kind regards David

Yes, humility and honesty are just 2 of the qualities that freediving can help you to develop.

...freediving is a sport... ... there is a certain amount of skills you need to learn in order to progress...

Freediving can't be broken down into just one or two skills, it requires a holistic approach in order to progress. Training is the only way to get better, not some magic tip from a video.
I recommend you do a course and join a club.

Your warmup is 60m? (See your vid about personalising your O2 training.) But you don’t even need it? Good for you. I would drown trying your warmup. My point is: you forgot one more tip for beginners: THIS video is rather good but in order to not become completely depressed, don’t look at other videos where this guy and other boasting (female, yes, you Renee) freedivers show off their level and show off how much CO2 they can take with a smile. I get sick and tired of that. And very demotivated and scared of freediving. Do you still teach absolute beginners? Are you up to that without intimidating them?

Jessie Cherall Forgive me as I don’t know you but you do sound a bit bitter. I read some of your comments elsewhere where you talk about not progressing or having trouble with that. I have the same problems. Don’t listen to numbers, especially not the numbers of these pro athletes. Heck, they’re pro for a reason. If you and I would have had the chance to dive and train every day, we would have progressed more. But again, even then: don’t focus on numbers but on feelings. Enjoying is the most important...

Hay Jessie, It is interesting that you feel like you have to compare yourself to me or others, maybe it would be useful you to contemplate where that comes from. This video was not meant to intimidate new divers, in fact O2 training is super advanced, and I have said many many times that it is not relevant until you are closing on 100m Cwt or FI. The fact is, in order to do O2 training you have to do bigger numbers, how else can you become hypoxic? Don't forget, I have been freediving regularly for almost a decade, be easy on yourself my friend.

ok, I took a SSI course Lvl 1 at Koh tao last year... Was not worth the money.

Koh Tao does cheap fast courses, and packs as many people onto them as possible. Its not a great way to teach freediving, but that is not there priority anyway. Making Money is.
