    My PB is 55m FIM and 50 M BI FIN after 3 months of diving :) so it’s very small chance that I’m using reverse packing with frenzel that should be mouthfill, right?? I’m charging at around 17-20 m

    • @freedivepassion9498
      @freedivepassion9498 Місяць тому

      I wouldn't say there is a small chance, I would say that if you haven't had a proper coach teach you MF, there is a high chance that you are using RP (just in my experience, i would have to see you to know).

    Really great content, thank you. Subscribed. I have a question: are you doing special breathing before these breath holds, for example, three seconds in and six seconds out for a few minutes, or are you just doing tidal breathing?

    • @freedivepassion9498
      @freedivepassion9498 Місяць тому

      I focus on tidal breathing and extended exhalations, Tidal being the volume of each breath, the extended exhalation being the speed of the breath. It is possible to do both

    Hi thanks for your report❤In my opinion from my experience rv if used carefully and with consciousness even to just 4m helps to adapt, relax the mind and the body. If what happens is a blood shift or better, a fast compensation, I do not know. But for sure it seems like it happens. I do not find any benefits goin deeper than 7-8 meters in RV. If one is capable of >100m than maybe is not hard to immagine the reason why one should not practice it the simple reason is: They dont need it! The real problem is that with RV even a newbie is able to replicate pressure from great dephts, non being adapted gradually as you perfectly said. So the risk is enormous. So I would say RV yes but like with O² breathing, non deeper than 4 m. P.s. never ever had to cough on surface mantaining 8m rv max depth. Once on surface i breath shortly out and gradually in slowly to fill my lung. Never ever more than a 30 sec dive, anyhow always with great reserve of oxygen once at the surface

    The way I understood it was that as I go deeper on Frenzel, I was automatically reverse packing, but at some point I might need to add a little bit more air consciously as I approached 30m or so by reverse packing. Is that correct? I haven't hit that point yet, but I might soon.

    • @freedivepassion9498
      @freedivepassion9498 7 місяців тому

      Most people who reverse pack well don't consciously do it. So maybe you will be completely fine. But once equalization starts to become tricky, You will likely need to refine and become conscious of what is happening, until that refinement becomes automated. Sorry if this sounds mysterious.

    I have more and more students coming with weird ideas of breath-work and breath-hold. Specially when they come from Wim Hof "Method" or any derivates of it. Because many breath work instructors - including Wim Hof - state you can store more oxygen by exaggerated breathing it takes me a lot of effort to teach and convince people that the truth is somewhere else. I would like to hear an episode about this. Cheers from El Hierro to Mexico.

    • @freedivepassion9498

      Yes but I don't necessarily see wimhoff is a bad thing. It's like a gateway drug into mindfulness, so whatever gets people excited about meditation I'm all for. Of course it's nonsense to mix this type of breathing with freediving, and thanks for the idea to make a video about this topic.

    Hey Harry thank you so much for your great videos. Question, with only 1 inhale isn't that a CO2 trainig as recovery is not complete ? I had in mind that when doing hypercapnia, recovery is inferior to let's say ~45 seconds and therefore hypoxia is over ~45 seconds.

    • @freedivepassion9498
      @freedivepassion9498 7 місяців тому

      I like the one breath residual volume style, because I become hypoxic quite quickly without having to deal with CO2. Try the exercise yourself and you should see what I mean.

    Does training to hold your breath increase lung capacity or just carbon dioxide tolerance?

    • @watercatmilk
      @watercatmilk 7 місяців тому

      Just CO2 tolerance and or O2 depending on the exercises. Increasing lung capacity relies on different exercises like stretching and packing. You can improve a lot before worrying about increasing lung capacity ;)

    Sometimes stress also comes from being in a new environment - i.e. new dive site or different conditions such as larger than usual swell on the surface or lower than average visibility underwater. Sometimes when we go to a new site, we just spend time floating on the surface getting used to it, preparing our minds to dive in the conditions we've encountered. You can be great in one set of conditions and hopeless in another set of conditions. I'm sure you cover that in your classes.
