1.- 1:25 2. - 1:56 3. - 2:15 First time trying, i was nervous and almost claustrophobic on my first try then i calmed down and relaxed, i cant believe what a difference it made. thanks so much.
Dont worry its not that hard, or you could just ask a follower to do it for you (pretty sure people would be ok with that). You just share the content with the developper and he does the app. Then he can give it to you to send to the store.
Hey Adam, Thanks for the videos. Love your enthusiasm and inspiration. I'm 61 years old, and have loved being underwater since I was a little kid. Before today, my previous longest breath hold was 3:00 minutes in a pool when I was about 20 years old. Here are my times for today 1) 2:45 2) 3:45 3) 3:30 4) 4:30 I was very excited about this new personal record. Thanks again for the videos. GREAT STUFF!!!
1. 3:25 2. 4:55 3. 5:06 Wow, I really impressed myself this time. Adam, I saw your videos weeks ago, and got me motivated to improve my breath holds. I found your videos really interesting and entertaining as well, good job! I have been practicing in the last 2 weeks the CO2 tables incresing from 1 minute hold to 1:30 and 1:45 two times. Also, I followed your advice and signed up for a freediving course last weekend and it was fantastic....I dove down 20 meters for the first time in my life! and now for the first time I could hold my breath for more than 5 minutes! even though last week couldn't hold my breath for more than 2:30 minutes......but I am understanding why, now. Thanks again and keep doing the good job!
Javier! that's incredible! I'm so happy for you. That's a solid dive and a solid breath hold time :) Good on your brother! I'm so happy that I could be a part of your freediving journey
Thanks Adam! Today I got a new PB of 5:17! and getting into the groove. Relaxing is key....for the first time in my life I am realizing this. Also, I would like to ask your opinion about this: after I did my 5:06, and after my 5:17 today, both times my left hamstring started to cramp a little (even when I was relaxed). It is kinda weird, since I didn't move my body at all, always laying on my bed. Any thoughts about why this could be happening?
Hi., i used to spearfishing before and i can only hold my breath for only 20-40s under water, but when i'd try the technique that you said., In 1st try 1:43s 2nd try 1:45s 3rd try 1:50s only. I will also try this to catch more fish here in the Philippines., Thanks and keep sharing more videos ✌
You're great, man. Watching this as a fellow instructor. You've got tons of traits I need to practice in my teachings more. The freedive community thanks you for your time and energy! We'll pass it on.
1) 2:05 (a little past comfortable) 2) 2:20 (first major contraction) 3) 3:02 My pb static is 3:45, but I find it more/less difficult depending on the day/hr... i appreciate being told to not push too hard and let my body adjust and improve in its own time. I have a habit of turning up the intensity too fast and burning out fast esp w/ athletic pursuits. I dont want that for my freediving! Thanks!
1) 2:14 (10 contractions) 2) 2:36 (17 contractions) 3) 3:01 (45 contractions) The feeling of the contractions got very much less annoying just after doing three sets! That surpised me quite a bit! Thanks for the informative videos☀️
1. 2:10 2. 2:44 3. 4:00 Hi Adam and everyone in the free-diving family. Thank you all for your inspiration. I'm a 64yo and want to still be doing this when I'm an 84yo. I need more motivation as I'm not consistent (off and on like a faulty light switch lol). I'm not sure if I did the exercise correctly. Intervals between breath-holds were 1 min approx. Looking forward to any constructive criticism. I've only been in the water Mar'18 (NZ hols) and haven't been diligent with any regular exercise regime. Looking forward to your reply. And....I'm so glad that I found your vids, love them to bits. Cheers
1:57 2:41 3:13 Incredible! I always thought there would be a clear border for me somewhere above 2 minutes. Fascinating how equal the progress in the other commenters is.
Hi Adam, I'v discovered your free diving tutorials since yesterday. Thanks to your explanations, I understand what I need to do, to free dive comfortably. Here are my times 1st 1.10 2nd 1:11 3rd 1:21
Hey fellow freedivers of the world, question for ya. I have trouble equalizing on occasion and often have to push air into my drums and swallow in order to get a pop on the way down. Sometimes only in one ear thus compromising my dive. Anyone else have their own magic way to do it because that’s all I got so far and I can’t get past about 30-40 feet before I am unable to equalize. Also Adam you have taught me a lot about breathing in the 45 minutes I’ve spent on your channel. I didn’t think I could get past 1:30 but after listening to you I held for 2:45 on my first hold and I’m blown away.
I’m brand new to free diving… but I’ve learned to hold nose and pop BEFORE it hurts. Popping 4 times just to get to 20fow. Also equalizing my mask with very small breathe out threw my nose 2-3x. I could be way off but this helps me…
1. 4:04 2. 4:20 3. 5:00 I was very uncomfortable reaching these times the first time around. Now, a number of months later, practicing my tables as well as various other lung exercises most every day, 5:00 comes a little easier. My PB now is 6:09.
Thanks for the advice, Adam - and I love all the effort you put into your videos and responding to your audience! I don't yet have a dive buddy to do wet training and plan on taking a free diving course in the future, when I get the opportunity. So what dry training would you recommend I do in place of the days I'm not doing the tables? I currently also do dry dynamic walks, multiple reps with an Expand-A-Lung breathing exerciser as well as use it to decrease my O2 intake while doing cardio long-boarding and land-paddling.
Jeremy Wallace well whether this was meant to be responded to by Adam or not I'll have a go haha. I would recommend maybe trying do to some interval training to try and aim to improve your lactic acid systems as in freediving you are working anaerobically. It will also generally help you in using lactate for energy and also replaying your oxygen debt when u get back to the surface and while you are going through your recovery breaths. Hope this helps. If you found that abit of a mouthfull im sorry, A-Level PE has caused that 😭😭
breath hold 1) 1 min 12 secs breath hold 2) 1 min 23 secs breath hold 3) 1 min 56 secs Hi adam, your videos & tutorials are really encouraging me to practice a lot. I find it hard as an asthmatic to hold my breath some days, but with your tips ive improved a lot. It turns out i can hold my breath longer than all my friends (who aren't asthmatics) which i find really funny. Keep the great videos coming :)
Thank you, I keep looking at my times & thinking they're rubbish. i guess i just need to keep reminding my self it takes loads of time to increase times. and that's okay :)
Exhale breath walks i think have helped me. Exhale 15 steps then 3 big breaths and on the exhale hold and do another 15 steps. Been doing that a few weeks and just did 8 rounds and can hold breath heaps longer.
1. 1:11 2. 1:53 3. 1:36 I’ve tried a static breath hold in the past and only managed 30 seconds but after watching your breathe up and final breath videos this was the result! Only problem is that I keep stopping my hold before I feel any contractions. I can’t seem to hold it long enough and on the last one I felt nauseous. But I’m super excited to keep practicing 😊
Subscribed.. you brought back memories from 3 of the greatest free divers I’ve seen.. Deborah Andollo, Umberto Pilizzary and Francisco “Pipin” Ferreras. .. Thanks for the vid.
1min30s 2min20s - first contraction 4min50s Performed during my freediving course, dry statics. Last one was not comfortable, I pushed hard but was really surprised at the result as my previous PB was 3:30. Proper relaxation and stretching helps.
definitely helps but try not to push with breath holds....you'll find that you can do huge breath holds without pushing and it leads to even bigger breath holds in the future.....but in saying that....dude! nice work!
Thanks for the great tips and entertainment. You are fun to watch. I have really slacked off on my breath holding and had to dive to retrieve our laptop which I hope the gods liked. But the panic of losing all our footage and diving under docks made it really hard to stay calm and search. While the laptop is in a rice bath I figure now would be a good time to improve my breath hold and focus underwater.
Started few days ago. First day Try 1: 55sec 2: 1.05sec 3: 1.10sec Now after 3 days I feel comfortabel till 1.30 and then relax trough the contractions until 1.55sec. I'm just getting really interested into freediving. Thanks for your videos. Love from belgium.
After doing that exercise I was able to get to 2 minutes without feeling contractions. My max static breath hold time has been 3 minutes, but I struggle through it. I usually get contractions between 1:15-1:30 and just push myself. I really like the perspective of just working your way up and staying within your comfort zone. I also really benefited from your video on the Frenzel technique! Thank you!!!
Adam Freediver I am definitely one of those people that jump to immediate panic as soon as my contractions come on. I wish I could have taken my first course with someone as patient as you- I feel like my instructor lost all respect for me when I wasn’t able to hold my breath for 3 minutes on the first day. It broke my confidence but I’m working on the basics on my own and hoping to get back out there soon to retest for certification. Thanks for the videos! They are so helpful.
It's crazy how much improvement there is after a couple of holds lol. I did three just to see if it really made such a big difference (I've never done any diving or breath training before) and here it is 1. 0.35 2. 1.20 3. 1.40
Your videos are very informative and you speak very clearly. After discovering your videos I went from 3 minutes 45 seconds to 5 minutes holding my breath in a matter of a couple days. I'm on my way to the airport right now I'm flying to Cabo to go spearfishing. I subscribe to your webpage I would also like to donate more to your cause thank you for everything you're doing
Love your videos, I use to practice holding my breath as a kid in my grandparents pool. I use to snorkel at the beach. Now I am older and interested in getting back into the water freediving and spearfishing. Thanks for sharing your experience
Did this last year and was terrible but.. after a year I can post some decent times. 1st time was 1:38. 2nd time was 2:05. 3rd I stopped at first contraction by mistake at 1:07, but 4th time I got to 2:02. Also, after 10 years of smoking cigarettes last year I quit to dive, because my breathe hold underwater was 0:45 30ft max, if I was lucky.. now its more 1:40 times and so far 60ft max dive (: PB: 2:38
Hi Adam I am enjoying the tutorials as I am really new to free diving. Just attempted the breath hold in bed before sleep (so relaxed as): 1. 1m 15s 2. 1m 25s 3. 1m 55s Thanks for the videos.
I started a Freediving course two months ago, age 44. Never ever did any kind of diving before. Hardly some swimming lessons. Anyway, during the first static breath hold attempt of my life I did 4:40. Last week I did my second attempt. A surprising 5:03. Which is strange considering I totally suck at dynamic, haha (I mean, sometimes it's hard to do a simple 25m in swimming pool)! I never felt any contractions, more like a strong tension in my lung/throat area. I thought static was just a mental thing and that all you could do physically was expand your lung capacity. Didn't know about the getting your body used to CO2. I'll try these exercises. Thanks!
Hello from Spain! These are my times (I never did it before): 1. 2'16min 2. 2'25min 3. 2'40min I'd like to begin practising in this amazing world, but I'm from Spain and I dont know where I could dive with clear water and good conditions... I'm learning a lot about freediving with your videos! Thanks 😊
I'm a total beginner, but I think I've been lucky and with good training I hope to get better results even from the odds with the AIDI competitions 1. 03:25 2. 03:55 3. 04:15
Hello yedi master! You mentioned on the commentary for wch that you got an inflammation when you started with breath holds, I think I got it after a few weeks of training (only every third day) but I don't feel like I have stressed it out so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. 1. 1:30 2. 1.45 3. 1:54 is my "best" but now I can't relax because of pain and so on so I guess I need to pause. Thank you so much for all the amazing videos, you are great!
you're so welcome :) it's hard for me to give you advice because i'm not there with you but if you ever experience any pain or muscular discomfort just stop and rest :)
I am wanting to get into diving, I am a mountain runner so I have pretty good cardio but my breath hold is not great considering my fitness. What you said about the human body is absolutely true! 1: 2.35 2: 2.51 3: 3.33 That is a PB for me though, so baby steps :)
Breath 1: 1.45 Breath 2: 2.15 Breath 3: 3.00 Thanks for all the videos Adam, you are excellent. I'd appreciate your comment on my following question. I do CO2 table training from time to time. My contractions start around 1,45-2,00 minutes. After the contractions, it become very difficult for me to continue holding my breath. I wonder when does this mammalian dive reflex is kicking in and extend my holding time further. My target is 4.00-5.00 minutes best time. What would you recommend for me. Thanks again...
1. (1:29:22) 2. (1:51:92) Note: I currently have a bar in my chest and am only a couple weeks out of surgery so I think that allowing convulsions around where the bar is trying to seat isn’t the best idea. But, to give viewers an idea of what I was capable of before I had surgery these are my two best static holds albeit done months apart. Best: (3:11:?) Second best: (2:55:?) (note: these two were performed quite uncomfortably for the last 45 seconds or so.) Good luck everybody and another thing, I’d consider myself a beginner. I’ve dived minimally on the Texas coast and once by myself in the Dominican Republic without fins or snorkel. Idk if my results are above average or below average but I’m just someone who loves the ocean and decided to practice a bit. Fair winds
1. 1:19 2. 1:44 3. 1:49 I am having a really hard time controlling my contractions. When they hit, a burning like feeling runs down my body and i cant hold my breath any longer. I have to train this more i think. Love your videos keep up the good work and greetings from germany.
thanks buddy :) we all get different levels of intensity with contractions...in the beginning I had a really hard time with them. Just take it nice and slow and i promise they will get more and more comfortable
I'm still a newbie at Freediving, how do you get to stay at the bottom for a long time? How do you even descend so easily and comfortably without taking so much effort? You're as informative as ever Adam!
Wow, this really works! I just started practicing yesterday, and I was just doing the static breath holds, and I got 45 seconds, 1:25 and now I need to do 3 more lol, but they really do work, and it makes me feel extremely relaxed.
Yes it is dangerous. You are depleting the levels of CO2 in your body by hyperventilating. This can cause a shallow water blackout because you won’t feel the urge to breathe (contractions) before going unconscious. This greatly increases the risk of drowning.
I'm new to freediving and your videos have been very helpful. My friend is encouraging me to give competing a go but can't decide whether or not to go for it as a beginner
1) 01:35 2) 02:17 3) 02:55 My PB is about 4', but using the Wim Hof method out of water. I don't really do freediving, but I would love to improve my underwater skills.
1. 1:12 2. 1:56 3. 2:21 I'm new to freediving. Duck diving while snorkeling is probably more accurate probably to no more they about 5m depth. I'm keen to learn to do a course and dive deeper once it warms up a bit more in Victoria. When I was in my early teens, +20 years ago, I DNF 50m during swimming lessons, but the teacher had let me hyperventilate beforehand. I dont want to do anything so naive again.
very good like always! I'm a spearfishermen, i can tell that at the begging i had strong contractions...now I do not feel them so strong anymore, and the freediving is easier! :D and I noticed that deeper is the dive I am more relax and the breathold is longer, my deepest dive is 15 m :(
ah why a sad face after 15m? that's great depth to be spearing at! Sometimes I feel like people are in a rush and if they would just slow down and enjoy themselves more everything will feel more comfortable...just as has happened for you :)
I just tried this, i'm a new freediving wannabe, I did 33 secs on the first, then 1 minute 30 secs on the 2 last ones. I don't feel any muscles contractions but i feel really uncomfortable after 1:30. Feels like my lungs are getting toxic, like an itching inside.
1: 1:47 2: 2:25 3: 3:02 As a surfer, my aim is really to feel more comfortable in bigger waves, and being held under water longer. My question is, obviously whilst surfing and being ragged underwater, your heart rate is super high and your body is flushed with adrenaline. How much of this training do you think will translate into surfing itself? Because, it's comfortable to hold my breath for over 2minutes in a relaxed environment, but whilst surfing, being held under for even 10 seconds is incredibly tiring and I know that even big wave surfers refer to 15seconds as a 'long time' to be held under by a wave.
The best way to think of it is that with everything in the body pumping you'll experience in 10 seconds what you'd experience over 2-3 minutes during a relaxed breath hold. In order to make this beneficial for surfing eventually you'll want to make yourself comfortable with longer periods of the urge to breathe and contractions
Yeah, I was thinking that. Like it's more about the ability to withstand the contractions for a longer period of time which will help me the best rather than just keeping into as calm a state as possible and being comfortable. I plan to move to Hawaii soon, where i'll be able to spend a lot more time in the water training. Tiss the dream!
Never tried to do anything like this, and am just getting into freediving... My time were; 1. 1:49 2. 2:38 3. 3:06 Also for anyone who would know, when i'm holding my breath, while still comfortable, i'll start to involuntarily just like, seep out a little of my breath through my nose. would that be a contraction? or just a thing I do?
Adam mate, I'm so confused.. There's so many videos from you related to breath holds, that I don't know based on which video to train. I loved 4 min static table; I also trained with this video. However, I'm still confused on the warm ups and which table to use after specific warm up. So far I've trained CO2 and this is very easy (comfortable?) for me, I have no problem training it. I would love to have a training session video from you, where you go straight on the point with warm up times then what table to use, when training either CO2 or O2. I like to train 2 times a week, but I still don't understand how to practice O2, so that kind of video would really help. Thanks infront, you're a very cool guy. Greeting from Montenegro/Finland
Hey buddy :) the issue with this topic is that training your body for breath holding is not simple and you can't just train C02 or train 02 in such a simple way. Each table to good for different things. Sometimes warm ups are good. Sometimes they aren't good. The best all round table that exists is the 4 minute table that I describe. The tables in this video are just different examples of training that you can do
How many Co2 tables are reccomended per day and how many times should we do them per week/ or whats the reccomended limit? 1. 1 min 2. 2 min 4 secs 3. 2min 47 secs Completed my Molchanovs wave 1 theory, super keen for pool and the open water sessions 😁
I love your wisdom. i am starting to get quite serious about my attempts at freediving. any ideas for freediving in the northern climates? i am quite landlocked and unable to afford to fly to warm places like Florida or Bali...keep up the great videos.. :)
Thanks so much Richard :) well to be dead honest I really don't know that much about that part of the world. My worldly knowledge is limited to places with warm tropical water. I'm sure you'll be able to find some opportunities with local facebook groups etc? :)
Applaud you so hard to give this info out for free... PB 4.25 for me, never done tables or trained. Smoked for 5 years i reckon that helped... mostly just love to feel contractions LOL
actually paused video, signed in to youtube account, right at the 13:45 mark - so I could LIKE the video - as instructed. (now let's see if I can follow all of your other safety instructions...)
Hey Adam, Would you be able to do a short video on hands free equalisation? Or direct me on where to get more information. Thank again for all the great videos!
Hi Adam, I'm not a freediver but I'm starting to like this hobby. I'm watching your videos and I find them very 'KNOWLEDGEFUL' is there such a word? lol. If you come to the Cebu Philippines - let me know. And I'll take you to Moalboal with no cost because your videos are free you deserve it!
Wow! That is so cool! And maybe you can do an episode here too! There are local free divers groups and even NGO's for ocean conservation were volunteers are free divers! :D
Hy Adam, great video as usual. It's refreshing to see you distance yourself from yoga, because a lot of people today try to force yoga as vital part of freediving. What's your thoughts on lung and diaphragm stretching exercises? Greetings from Croatia.
the funny thing is that comp top level divers that i know dont do any yoga at all. I personally dont believe you need to do a lot of lung stretching exercises as well.....the body can do amazing things without crazy stretching...for example...Alexey Molchanov does not stretch at all...ever...
1: 3:30 2: 4:40 3: 5:43 not really been doing C02 or 02 table because I only do static in the water because this is where I feel confortable and my buddy is already bored with 3 attempts lol.....but I do dry apnea gym training instead. One question /remark is I never hyperventilate when breath up for doing static (as for diving) but hear many people saying doing it for static is ok, what is your feedback on that point?
A lot of divers feel like the delay in contractions is worth the shorter breath hold they will get for static. Personally I'm not an expert in long static holds and I've never done much experimenting for myself but all the divers that I know who are top 10 in static hyperventilate for static but not the other disciplines
I’m just getting into Freediving/spear fishing and my breathe holds aren’t the greatest. I started using the STAmina app but there’s no direction. I was using the O2 table and after 3 days my dry breathe hold has increased 40 secs but after watching this should I be doing CO2 tables to increase my breath holds? I’m definitely one of the people that the contractions hit HARD. Once I feel them I really struggle to push forward. Just for reference my static ic 1:50 currently. Sadi know but I’m just starting
Can you please tell me what around 2:00 - 2:30 of static breath hold corresponds to in freediving around 10-15 metres and just stay in one place. I know it's a very general question and that results vary from one person to another but I'm just looking for a general guideline and rounded figures. I definitely can't do over a minute, maybe 30-40 seconds.
Generally at that depth you should get around 40 - 50 seconds :) but honestly this is just a guess because you can't equate static breath hold and diving
Hi Adam and thank your for providing us with some really great and important info so generously through your videos!! It’s awesome!! How frequently is it recommended to practice your breathold with this type of co2 tables? I mean, is safe to do it every day or should I follow a certain frequency per week?
Thank you :) You're so welcome :) it's best to train breath holds no more than 3 times per week. I have examples on training schedules etc on my Patreon page :)
question here, I'm a scuba diver and my best free diving opportunities are during surface intervals between dives...I know the theory on scuba resting times. but will some minutes of free diving interfere with my resting times if I'm not wearing a tank, what's the effect of nitrogen on my body?
What you're describing will almost certainly lead to DCS. If you have nitrogen in your body from a scuba dive the rapid compression and decompression from freedives has huge effects. You can freedive before scuba diving but once you scuba dived then no more freediving for the day :)
My max static is 2:33 seconds by just 5 days training (mentioning that i smoke about 2 packs of cigs a day) 1 co2 and 1 o2 table per day and i discontinued it because honestly underwater is totally different because you are moving and consuming o2 it only helped a bit, you should come to lebanon adam dive here and help me :(
You should come to Australia ;) Yes training static really only helps to train your ability to be relaxed. But if you do tables it should one be 2-3 per week :)
1. 0m 50s
2. 1m 10s
3. 1m 45s
(with kids screaming and running in circles around me...)
PB is around 2m 15s, with very little training.
Olivier Aubin lol I know that environment
hahahaha nice! that's solid
Alot better than my time 1st was 30 second 2nd was 40 and 3rd was 48 seconds :/
I know the feeling LOL. Hopefully it helps with learning to stay calm.

First time trying, i was nervous and almost claustrophobic on my first try then i calmed down and relaxed, i cant believe what a difference it made. thanks so much.
you should make an app, with tables, tips, and stuff like that
REDEVIL loads already exist
DankTard
What is it called?
this comment got too many thumbs up for my liking haha making an App sounds like a nightmare hahah
We need an app indeed hahaha
Dont worry its not that hard, or you could just ask a follower to do it for you (pretty sure people would be ok with that). You just share the content with the developper and he does the app. Then he can give it to you to send to the store.
Breath 1-1:45
Breath 2-2:30
Breath 3-3:43
I love all your videos. You have taught me so much.
I’m here sitting in my massage chair watching this video and I keep hearing Adam say, “relaxation”. Well Adam, I can’t agree with you more.
Hey Adam, Thanks for the videos. Love your enthusiasm and inspiration. I'm 61 years old, and have loved being underwater since I was a little kid. Before today, my previous longest breath hold was 3:00 minutes in a pool when I was about 20 years old. Here are my times for today
1) 2:45
2) 3:45
3) 3:30
4) 4:30
I was very excited about this new personal record. Thanks again for the videos. GREAT STUFF!!!
Hello Tom, do you mind one question? Do you do any kind of supporting cardio training like running for example? Greetings from Germany...
1. 3:25
2. 4:55
3. 5:06
Wow, I really impressed myself this time.
Hi., i used to spearfishing before and i can only hold my breath for only 20-40s under water, but when i'd try the technique that you said.,
In 1st try 1:43s
2nd try 1:45s
3rd try 1:50s only.
I will also try this to catch more fish here in the Philippines.,
Thanks and keep sharing more videos ✌
Bro saan dito pwede spearfishing?

You're great, man. Watching this as a fellow instructor. You've got tons of traits I need to practice in my teachings more. The freedive community thanks you for your time and energy! We'll pass it on.
Thanks so much Kaleb! I really appreciate that man :)
1) 2:05 (a little past comfortable)
2) 2:20 (first major contraction)
3) 3:02
My pb static is 3:45, but I find it more/less difficult depending on the day/hr... i appreciate being told to not push too hard and let my body adjust and improve in its own time. I have a habit of turning up the intensity too fast and burning out fast esp w/ athletic pursuits. I dont want that for my freediving! Thanks!
hahah I used to share your habit then I learnt how to stop myself :) good work though :)
1) 2:14 (10 contractions)
2) 2:36 (17 contractions)
3) 3:01 (45 contractions)
The feeling of the contractions got very much less annoying just after doing three sets! That surpised me quite a bit!
Thanks for the informative videos☀️

Hi Adam and everyone in the free-diving family. Cheers
Those are great breath holds! You definitely did the exercise correctly. Just keep the training consistent and the progress will continue :)
Thank you for getting back to me. I enjoy all your vids. Excellent work!! Love your infectious enthusiasm. What are the costs of your courses?

Incredible! I always thought there would be a clear border for me somewhere above 2 minutes. Fascinating how equal the progress in the other commenters is.
nice breath holds! Yeah the body can do some pretty incredible things :)
although your intro scares the shit out of me every time i love it, one of my favorite intros on youtube!
haha you can thank my wife for scaring you. She made it haha and thank you :)
Hi Adam, I'v discovered your free diving tutorials since yesterday. Thanks to your explanations, I understand what I need to do, to free dive comfortably. Here are my times
1st 1.10
2nd 1:11
3rd 1:21
I could be way off but this helps me…
1. 4:04
2. 4:20
3. 5:00
I was very uncomfortable reaching these times the first time around. Now, a number of months later, practicing my tables as well as various other lung exercises most every day, 5:00 comes a little easier. My PB now is 6:09.
If I did those times I think my brain would just turn into mush
Blacknea Freediving Nah… you can do it! I got those times after watching it explained in this video: ua-cam.com/video/zvq3Fd_B6q8/v-deo.html
nice one Jeremy :) that's a solid static :) just make sure you dont do too much breath holding everyday....i usually recommend 2-3 tables per week
If you found that abit of a mouthfull im sorry, A-Level PE has caused that 😭😭
breath hold 1) 1 min 12 secs
breath hold 2) 1 min 23 secs
breath hold 3) 1 min 56 secs
Hi adam, your videos & tutorials are really encouraging me to practice a lot. I find it hard as an asthmatic to hold my breath some days, but with your tips ive improved a lot. It turns out i can hold my breath longer than all my friends (who aren't asthmatics) which i find really funny. Keep the great videos coming :)
that's so awesome Rob! good on you :) thanks so much for the feed back too! :)

I’ve tried a static breath hold in the past and only managed 30 seconds but after watching your breathe up and final breath videos this was the result! Only problem is that I keep stopping my hold before I feel any contractions. I can’t seem to hold it long enough and on the last one I felt nauseous. But I’m super excited to keep practicing 😊
How did you go?
Thanks!

Thanks for the great videos!
thanks! and great work!
Subscribed.. you brought back memories from 3 of the greatest free divers I’ve seen.. Deborah Andollo, Umberto Pilizzary and Francisco “Pipin” Ferreras. .. Thanks for the vid.
1min30s
2min20s - first contraction
4min50s
Performed during my freediving course, dry statics.
While the laptop is in a rice bath I figure now would be a good time to improve my breath hold and focus underwater.
ah no! It's heart breaking. Hopefully the rice sorts it out :)
@@AdamFreediver It actually did save the laptop and all our video footage is saved.
Started few days ago.
First day
Try
1: 55sec
2: 1.05sec
3: 1.10sec
Now after 3 days I feel comfortabel till 1.30 and then relax trough the contractions until 1.55sec.
Thanks so much Jessica! :) I really appreciate that. So glad the videos are helpful
Thanks Jess :) Yeah some instructors feel like they need to push their students and it's just the worst way to develop someones freediving
It's crazy how much improvement there is after a couple of holds lol. I did three just to see if it really made such a big difference (I've never done any diving or breath training before) and here it is
1. 0.35
2. 1.20
Thanks for sharing your experience
such a pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Just attempted the breath hold in bed before sleep (so relaxed as):
1. 1m 15s
2. 1m 25s
3. 1m 55s
Thanks for the videos.
Thanks!
That's an awesome natural breath hold! Nice work :)

Hello yedi master! You mentioned on the commentary for wch that you got an inflammation when you started with breath holds, I think I got it after a few weeks of training (only every third day)
but I don't feel like I have stressed it out so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

you're so welcome :) it's hard for me to give you advice because i'm not there with you but if you ever experience any pain or muscular discomfort just stop and rest :)
I am wanting to get into diving, I am a mountain runner so I have pretty good cardio but my breath hold is not great considering my fitness. What you said about the human body is absolutely true!

Dude. You are awesome! Thank you for inspiring me. Blessings from Panama. Australia is on my bucket list❤

Note: I currently have a bar in my chest and am only a couple weeks out of surgery so I think that allowing convulsions around where the bar is trying to seat isn’t the best idea. But, to give viewers an idea of what I was capable of before I had surgery these are my two best static holds albeit done months apart.
Best: (3:11:?)
Second best: (2:55:?) (note: these two were performed quite uncomfortably for the last 45 seconds or so.)
Good luck everybody and another thing, I’d consider myself a beginner. I’ve dived minimally on the Texas coast and once by myself in the Dominican Republic without fins or snorkel. Idk if my results are above average or below average but I’m just someone who loves the ocean and decided to practice a bit.

I am having a really hard time controlling my contractions. When they hit, a burning like feeling runs down my body and i cant hold my breath any longer. I have to train this more i think. Love your videos keep up the good work and greetings from germany.
MeisterVasqus don't try and control them, just sit back and let them destroy you mentally :D
Don't worry practice makes perfect, keep up the training
thanks buddy :) we all get different levels of intensity with contractions...in the beginning I had a really hard time with them. Just take it nice and slow and i promise they will get more and more comfortable

I'm still a newbie at Freediving, how do you get to stay at the bottom for a long time? How do you even descend so easily and comfortably without taking so much effort? You're as informative as ever Adam!
freedivers often use weights when diving in depths which makes them float up less and gives easier descends
Great vid thanks. Breath holds #1, 82 seconds. #2, 2 mins. #3 2:218.
Nice breath holds!
Wow, this really works! I just started practicing yesterday, and I was just doing the static breath holds, and I got 45 seconds, 1:25 and now I need to do 3 more lol, but they really do work, and it makes me feel extremely relaxed.

I have passed 5 minutes 6 seconds doing the Wim Hof method. Is there any reason the Hof method would be dangerous for free diving?
Yes it is dangerous. You are depleting the levels of CO2 in your body by hyperventilating. This can cause a shallow water blackout because you won’t feel the urge to breathe (contractions) before going unconscious. This greatly increases the risk of drowning.
Yup. Shallow water blackout danger is high.
Wow your subscriber numbers have sky rocketed congratulations Adam!

I'm new to freediving. I dont want to do anything so naive again.

nice one! solid breath holds :)
nothing wrong with 3:10 ;)
very good like always!
I just tried this, i'm a new freediving wannabe,
I did 33 secs on the first,
then 1 minute 30 secs on the 2 last ones.
I don't feel any muscles contractions but i feel really uncomfortable after 1:30.
Feels like my lungs are getting toxic, like an itching inside.

As a surfer, my aim is really to feel more comfortable in bigger waves, and being held under water longer.
Never tried to do anything like this, and am just getting into freediving... My time were;
1. 1:49
2. 2:38
3. 3:06
Also for anyone who would know, when i'm holding my breath, while still comfortable, i'll start to involuntarily just like, seep out a little of my breath through my nose. would that be a contraction? or just a thing I do?
Excellent to get all this information ~ thank you so much !
You're so welcome :)
I love your advice and your attitude! Keep it up!
thank you so much! Will do :)
Awesome video. My personal best is 3min 34sec.
thank you! that's solid!

Thanks so much Richard :) well to be dead honest I really don't know that much about that part of the world. My worldly knowledge is limited to places with warm tropical water. I'm sure you'll be able to find some opportunities with local facebook groups etc? :)

And I'll take you to Moalboal with no cost because your videos are free you deserve it!
sounds like a plan! I might be coming to Cebu in a few months so we will dive! :)
Wow! That is so cool! And maybe you can do an episode here too! There are local free divers groups and even NGO's for ocean conservation were volunteers are free divers! :D
im from cebu!
Enjoy your instructions, some nose breathing would also add up to the performance?
Hy Adam, great video as usual. It's refreshing to see you distance yourself from yoga, because a lot of people today try to force yoga as vital part of freediving. What's your thoughts on lung and diaphragm stretching exercises? Greetings from Croatia.
the funny thing is that comp top level divers that i know dont do any yoga at all. I personally dont believe you need to do a lot of lung stretching exercises as well.....the body can do amazing things without crazy stretching...for example...Alexey Molchanov does not stretch at all...ever...

not really been doing C02 or 02 table because I only do static in the water because this is where I feel confortable and my buddy is already bored with 3 attempts lol.....but I do dry apnea gym training instead.

59s, 1:58 and then 2:36. I've done 3:41 before in the pool at my freediving level 1 class!
Nice one!!! :)
Ok, I see! Thank you so much for the reply, I really appreciate your effort put in these videos!!! :) :)
+Adam Freediver thanks a lot, you saved my ass here haha
hahaha all good! :)
Up to 2:15, contractions start at 1:30. I think they feel good :)
