Big Daddy Kane: Me, KRS, & Rakim Changed How People Rhymed

- Опубліковано 22 бер 2015
- www.vladtv.com - Grammy-winning rapper Big Daddy Kane recently sat down with VladTV and was challenged to create a list of Hip-Hop's 3 greatest MCs that did not include himself.
Pausing to contemplate the challenge of not being able to include himself on the list, the "Ain't No Half Steppin'" wordsmith insists, "I can't do that," before adding, "Because I'm so f***ing incredible. I gotta be in there."
Eventually, the lists is comprised of himself and two other Golden Era titans, Rakim and KRS-One. Expanding his perspective on why he chose The Alpha and Omega of Hip-Hop and the Teacha, he says, "With Rakim you're talking about someone who helped change and reshape Hip-Hop." Kane quips that several great lyricists have followed Rakim's legacy, but "I haven't seen anyone change the lyrical game like how it changed in the '80s...me, KRS and Rakim, we basically changed the whole way people rhymed in the '80s."
When speaking on The Blastmaster, Big Daddy Kane avows, "His longevity, his diversity, and his battle skills are amazing as an MC [and] as a lyricist." Kane then asserts, "Me, KRS, and Rakim we basically changed the whole way people rhymed in the '80's."
Later on, he states that he considers Rakim, KRS, Nas, Kool G Rap, Biggie, Jay Z, Eminem, and Big Pun to be lyrical geniuses, so narrowing it down to such a small list is difficult. Kane insists, "it's really hard to name three."
Check out the full clip to see what Big Daddy Kane says about Nas and what other MCs inspired today's legends. - Розваги
Kane is a funny ass dude. 'I can't do that.' LOL
Facts
The four pillars of hip hop are KRS1, RAKIM, BIG DADDY KANE, & KOOL G RAP
Four Father's of Hip Hop
got to add LL, Slick Rick and Heavy D but mos def LL and make it 5
An big L
@@cam5833 can't mention big l they talking old-school like late 80s so I would say Lord Finesse he had a back to back punchline flow in 89 he took rap to another level but he just wasn't as big in the eye as his peers
Ya'all forget Jeru the Damaja
"You said not to include myself? I can't do that" loved that quote, he deserves all the praise
A list is not a list unless Kane is on it!. Simple as that.
Why does no one talk about BigL?
L big l my top 5 any given day
ontario streets you're the real MVP!
L's the Fusion of BDK and Lord Finesse Stylistically Speaking
he was a Absolute Beast. but even his style can be traced back by doing the footwork
+CDAWG
I thought the exact same thing.
I was dying for him to say it but he went: "Big....PUN"
It's also more disappointing because Big L legit was influenced by BDK.
technically big L was just a more lyrical version of Lord Finesse. he was exactly like Lord finesse. Lord finesse was the first person I heard to back to back punchlines rhyming both end syllables. also LF was the person who discovered big l as well
Kool G Rap and Kane are two of the illest.. Big Respect!
Rakim changed the way people rapped more than anyone.
jmaal2345 Rakim stole kool moe Dee flow
Facts👍👍
Rakim didn’t steal kool moe dee flow,,Rakim has a jazz flow
@@lindseyhammonds1127 rakims flow is more complex than Kool Moe Dee
@@lindseyhammonds1127 kool moe Dee?? LMFAO! Comparing Kool Moe Dee to Rakim? Now that's funny.
Kool Keith, never mentioned but the most lyrical, When i Burn...
MultiMrMiles he want around long enough
keith rules
MultiMrMiles love kool kieth
for real homes, good looking out
kool keith was & is On Another Level of Rhyming All Together...
He Fathered ODB (RIP)
"I'm so fking incredible". best answer ever, to any question
I think Kool Moe Dee was pretty damn influential.
He was great as well
I love how an OG can instantly put things in perspective.
Big Daddy Kane, Rakim and KRS One will always be my main 3 Fathers of Emcees, they are my inspirational reason on why I rap and still rap today. nuff said
Rakim created flow. God MC
Nah it was started before
Nonsense
He definitely didn't create flow He created the term though!
Much respect to Big Daddy Kane, in how he broke down and articulated why him, KRS & Rakm can and should be the top three Hip Hop Lyricist of all time!
They all seem to sleep on scarface..dude was a lyrical genius as well
I don't he my number 4.
*funny how society picks on who to hate." If Kanye said "because I so fucking incredible" Everyone would say: He's so arrogant. I hate him! He should be more humble. Now you got Kane who at 40+ is basically saying Nobody can fuck with me. And No one even blinks. All Im saying is this: dont let the media trick you into hating someone.EVERY emcee is Brash,Cocky,Confident, and ready to take your head off. Embrace that shit! Don't hate it*
Most rappers are cocky/arrogant when it comes to speaking on their own skills.. Kanye is cocky/arrogant about dumb shit that has nothing to do with him.
MrSkeezymak Examples of the Dumb shit? because fashion is apart of hiphop.
I wouldn't blink of kanye said that either.
People like Muhammad Ali and Big Daddy Kane can say they're the "greatest" cuz its true. Kanye is not the greatest.
Geronimo sure
Whole bunch of people sounded like Kane.
A lot of people sounded like Rakim
No one has ever been able to copy KRS One because his style is too unique and versatile
BK Bob Facts!
i love how he dosent try to deny his place in hip hop history my top 3 lyricists 1.gza 2.big L 3.jay z
"You're talkin' bout hip hop?" No he's talking about danish folk music.
Lcarpetron The reason why he ask him that is because there is a difference between "hip hop" and "rap"
Jason Toussaint Also lyricism isn't exclusive to rap or Hip-hop. A poet can be considered a lyricist, and it's very well possible that some of the rappers from the 80s were influenced by such lyricists. Maybe even Kane, himself.
He was being sarcastic because he said if you're talking about Hip Hop, he can't exclude himself.
***** Haha yeah, I laughed a bit when he said that, it was kinda slick
I think because "hip hop" means so much to him that he has to restate it know what I mean
All three of ya'll brothas were not to be played with on that microphone. Ya'll just looked like ya'll could rap circles around people. Everything from the tone of ya'll voices to the way ya'll rhymed. And ya'll had soul flavor and conviction. The brothas of today just don't have soul flavor and conviction. Ya'll set the bar so high to where I see these "rappers" and it's just take it or leave it. I've seen the best that hip hop has to offer. I also feel like the new guys aren't taking it seriously. I like a porty record just like anybody else, but when Kid 'n Play and them were doin' it, I could take them seriously. Now these brothas get on record and mumble and pretend like they've done somethin' huge.
Why doesn't anybody mention Ice Cube when it comes to lyricism?
Cause he's west coast. haha
Lcarpetron and he sucks
Because Ice Cube himself would admit that he doesnt belong in the same class as those artist.
it's for the same reason PAC and Chuck D aren't mentioned, they all didn't MC, they just rapped.MC requires word play, metophors and such.
@imsonecessary CHUCK D was just a rapper without the requirements that should've made him a emcee? You know your comment doesn't make any sense? Chuck D wasn't you're average rapper just like Pac wasn't just average. I'm not one of those Pac stans but I do give credit when its due he wasn't top 5 imo but he wasn't average as far as Chuck is concerned take a listen to IT TAKES A NATION OF MILLIONS and dare to say he was just an average rapper.
Old Story: I have always loved Rakim as a MC . Loved him even more after this.
Was in NOLA for convention with my GoDJ click when I used to work alot in regional music biz behind the scenes . We were standing outside waiting to get into the House of Blues and Rakim had just rapped up. I seen dude sweating his ass off loading his own equipment into the van . I said , that's how you become a legend.
“Bcuz I’m so fuckin incredible!” 😆
Thanks for the interview. I was never a great fan of BDK's even thought I respected his skills as an MC, but this video sheds more light on the man.
I think I know what he's talking about...like that shift...that style shift..between the 80s and 90s, when cats started to rhyme differently as the 90s came in and the 80s went out. Rakim, KRS, and daddy kane included did indeed play a big role in that shift...and jay came in right in the midst of it
When it comes to the 1980's, prior to the Kane, Rakim, KRS, G-Rap days, well of course they were all battling and doing the parks circuit, but the "holy trinity" that is Kool Moe Dee, Grand Master Caz, Melle Mel were all still rhyming in the 80's too. The Force MC's eventually becoming The Force MD's brought the singing and harmonizing to rap to another level along with Fantastic Five, Cold Crush Brothers, Treacherous Three, and Fearless Four. Speaking of Fearless Four, DLB was one of the fiercest MC's around, along with Silver Fox who mentored many. I think people forget that Slick Rick and Doug E Fresh were on the scene in 83'ish so Rick's storytelling elevated the game. But Moe Dee's wordplay and fast rhyming, Melle Mel's solid skill of rhyming ("A Child Is Born With A State Of Mind" was from 1979's Super Rappin), and Grand Master Caz' storytelling paved the way for those after. Kool G Rap's wordplay is like a weird combination of what Kane, KRS and Rakim do. Kane with the punchlines, KRS with the bravado, and Rakim with the illest wordplay. They all complimented and complemented each other. But, Rakim did it in a way that made everyone say "what the fuck!" Rakim raised the bar back in the day, but nowadays the bar is at slug belly level with all this bullshit rap.
I agree with him but people need to include people who marked their era. Melle Mel stood out both in lyrics and flow. People forget how incredible he was and is ... if you see him live. Kane no doubt influenced early Jay-Z , KRS-1 came with that "from the bronx blastmaster KRS-1 , provin that my job ain't done until I get some more, no need to roar or yell cause I could still what will what will sell or what I've sold without yelling over a drum roll, that style is old blossom bloom you got the room..." , Rakim: goes without saying " The Paid in full album marks the BR (Before Rakim) and AR (After Rakim) era. The flow was new.. period. That being said smooth delivery flow was also pioneered by Slick Rick as well. The Ruler could still drop lines now and amaze. Few rappers can stand on stage laid back w/ one hand in his pocket and "catch wreck" as they used to say. Again I agree w/ Kane. Kool G rap should NEVER be left off the list. I would break down hip hop into 4 maybe 5 styles. With Kool G rap's "machine gun flow" leading to Pun and M &M, Nas combined Kool
G w/ Rakim , Kane maintains the essence of classic rap people in his style includes his predecessor LL cool J. (Rock the Bells has that almost flow as Raw) , and it is the style refined by Mos (Mos is hard to categorize , geniuses like Mos and Black thought. Very hard to find their true influences because they are rap scholars. .. Doom etc. )
Long story to say I think Kane is right on with his comments. Long live the Kane
His first answer = great. Right up there with the question the interviewer asked Clubber Lang in "Rocky 3."
If you gonna talk changing the way people rhyme, you gotta mention Kool Moe Dee. He brought that battle emcee shit to the forefront. Slots cats was just rhyming for the party, repeating choruses till he embarrassed Busy. After that, cats had to walk around with darts in the back of the mind. He influenced everybody to sharpen they sword.
Overjoyed to see Kane and Rakim recently...And any time...A forever fan!!!!
To those who don't know. Kane even attended the birthday party Proof threw for Eminem back in 2002/2003. He performed too. Hip Hop is black music no doubt but real MCs have always appreciated real lyricists no matter what color their skin might be.
It really ain't bragging IF IT'S THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH. Would you want Chuck Berry to say HE DIDN'T invent rock 'n roll?
Wu-tang as a whole made other Mc's change their styles and lyrics as well for the 90's. The same way Rakim, KRS and Kane did for the 80's. Even now there are few that have verbalized lyrics in way that the Wu has done it. But like anything else it evolves and now you have your (not in any specific order) Loaded Lux, Daylyt, Clips, Mook and the list goes on. Hell, Mos Def is on the top list as one of the most powerful lyricist ever.
Name of master and student
Kane big l
krs one Tupac
Kool g rap pun
rakim nas
Kane claimed he birthed biggie and jay
Eddie Blank and big l lord finese
Exactly.
Eddie Simmons Kane-Jayz as well
+ROBERT TIDWEL i huess
I whole heartedly agree with you kane....you, krs rakim and i got add kool G rap to that list the biggie's ,the pun's the nas's the m&m's ETC...come after not taking. Nothing from them brother's because they all dope. My personal list would have at least 20....because I Love Hip Hop.
Funny thing is, they are my Top 3 Legends too.
0:29 is priceless !!!
can't forget Kool G rap
Great interview
I'm sorry but no one was rhyming like Rakim before he debuted...I watched it change.
slick rick ? mc shan?
Kane is dope but to not mention Chuck D is foul. It Takes a Nation alone is huge in hip hop regarding 1) sampling blueprint and 2) race & politics
be quiet
Sampling was done by Marley Marl first. And talking race & politics was done by Melle Mel first. But Chuck D is great and highly underrated.
A Nation of Millions and Fear of A Black Planet are ferocious albums, but Kane is still correct. Chuck D's strength is in the power of his voice, and his subject matters, and the way he and Flavor go back and forth. But his flow was not as advanced as Kane, KRS, or Rakim. No disrespect to Chuck at all, in any way. And Hank Shocklee deserves a lot of credit for Fear of A Black Planet. That man is a genius.
Public Enemy is not an underrated group - that's because of Chuck D. I think more people know about him and what he's done for sure.
It Takes A Nation of Millions album (Bombsquad) took there sampling blueprint which they admitted from Marley Marl.
To add to this. We're talking about cadence or delivery. Lyrical content is what a handful of the legends have. Rakim brought content & the game changer was the cadence. Rap at the time was repetitive and one dimensional in its delivery, see old school i.e. Cool Moe Dee. Basically Rakims use of the open ended comma at the end off an open ended sentence opened the minds of rappers stuck in the old school radio delivery.
So Kane, Rakim & Krs were basically blueprints of what other rappers followed. They were the pioneers and trend setters of multiple rappers styles including nas, which is a depiction of Rakim, and JayZ of Kane. Hip hop was forever changed because of these dudes..Point taken!
You’re right, but to be honest Kool G Rap is up there in terms of influence. He created that gritty sound of NYC and godfather of mafioso rap
RAKIM's style has no father
it hav
He mentioned Kool Moe Dee starting their pattern though
That’s an excellent way to put it. Facts
G C 💯
rakim allah!! the g.o.a.t!!
its good to see krs get love cause his name never comes up in top 5 lists anymore
Besides KRS, Rakim and BDK, there was also Dr Dre and the G-Funk. Let's not forget that in the 90s, gangsta rap was dominating thanks to Dr Dre.
This is absolutely true , actually the westcoast monopolized the game from 90 to atleast 97 easily due to the emergence of NWA and the gangsta style of rap that they brought to the masses it completely wiped out the dance rap that Big Daddy Kane was doing instantly and only a few NY rappers actually held their own , Rakim , KRS1, and LL cool J being a few that sustain the powerful blow of the westcoast.
Kane just justified almost my entire top 10 list. I have everyone he mentioned in my top 10, other than KRS. KRS was sick wit it, but just not my cup of tea.
1. Biggie
2. Em
3. Jay-Z
4. Kane
5. Rakim
6. Nas
7. Kool G Rap
8. Big Pun
9. Tupac
10. (tie) Mos Def/Black Thought
This is what competition is...no emcee is gonna bow down to the next man to be nice! #Top5DOAlive and #1 in my book!
As much as I would want 2pac to be the GOAT, I have to say Rakim takes the Crown (even Pac was a fan of Rakim). Rakim CHANGED the Way ALL RAPPERS Rhymed after he came out
My favourite lyricists of all time:
1. Big Daddy Kane (First lyricist i was introduced to as a 7 year old child)
2. Rakim Allah
3. Freddie Foxxx
4. Big L
5. Gift Of Gab
6. Nas
7. Immortal Technique (First lyricist to make me cry after listening to "You Never Know")
I always say this and i will keep saying it. I do not care about mainstream success or record sales. I only am concerned about the quality and spirit of old-school Hip Hop, and i wish it would come back.
Ace Redman is underrated
Hello ODD Future. Redman is cool, nothing wrong with that. But it's hard to say he is one of my favourites :)
Ace good list though I would have added Big pun though
ODD Future Hmmmmm Big Pun........He's aight. But i wouldn't say he is my favourite :) I know a a lot of rappers people might wish i would include, but Redman is good, Pun is good, the lyricists from Jurassic 5 are really really good, i would love to include them but i gotta go with my best 7 as stated above hehe :)
"you talkin about hip hop?"
he probably would have said bob marley or jimi hendrix if he was allowed to pick from any genre
"Cause I'm So Fucking Incredible" 😂😎
Great interview. I respect Big Daddy Kane. He is right. He's speaking the truth. He forgot Big L though. Rest In Peace Big L.
Respect to BDK his list is perfect
It has always been Rakim that kicked the whole game on its head. At the time it happened rap was in danger of becoming a bit wack. There were still good legendary rappers that people loved and they had staying power. But on lyricism alone Rakim, hands down made rappers think, write & deliver thus changing the future of rap forever.
Not mad at his list @ all... But as a fan of all 3... I'm gonna say as far as rocking a crowd... KRS1 got it locked down... Had the pleasure of seeing KRS perform 3x and by far the best performance I've ever encountered as far as hip hop is concerned.. Well worth the money.. KRS... Left the crowd wanting more ... I have yet to see an MC rock a crowd the way KRS does..
man, i couldn't agree with you more! i must have seen KRS perform a dozen times over the years since the late 80's and i STILL have yet to see someone do a better show... best breath control, says every rhyme WITHOUT a hype man!
well if we talkin impact, kool moe dee made everyone have to make sense of what they said
The magnificant 7 are: Krs 1, Rakim, Guru, Nas, Kane, Tupac, Biggie.
What!
No Big L. He was and still is thru his music a verbal FRONTAL ASSUALT on yo a$$.
Would you expect anything less from Kane? Of course he will say he's in his top 3, deservedly so. Any rapper worth their grain of salt would include themselves in their list. I think Rakim has been more influential because his style can be copied more easily than KRS. I don't know any rapper that has followed that can do what KRS did in total. I just don't think you can copy "a KRS"
And really for those who question KRS lyrics, Ah Yeah, verse 2. Nuff said.
Bro how long was this interview? It seems like I've been watching footage of this same shit for about two years. Long ass segments too. Not to say that it's not interesting though.
Kane looked like “what”?
You serious Vlad?
I love how he gave multiple MC's their props.
I agree! I think Rakim was definitely in the lead. But Kane and KRS is up there too. Gotta add Parrish Smith from EPMD too. All of them were great......then came Nas who took lyricism to a whole new level after them.
To add I would say Kool G Rap but I think he got better later. Like mid-late 90's. I think late 80's early early 90's G Rap wasn't on there level lyrically. Close but not there. I like G Rap better during his solo career.
BoxingWave- FACT
00:29 is priceless !!!
lexxon11 right lmfao
Huh, he forgot Kool Moe Dee. Also, I find it interesting he said that he couldn't name three without naming himself, but then went on to name a bunch of really great lyricists.
+Dominic Campbell because the question wasn't just to name 3 great lyricists or 3 of your favorite lyricists...it was name the 3 "greatest" lyricist of all time. And he explained exactly why he choose himself, rakim, and krs... plus he comes from the era of cut throat rap back in the 80s, 90s if you asked any lyrical rapper who they thought were the greatest they would likely say themselves, (which is whats missing from todays hiphop not enough competitiveness to drive artist to become better lyricists since these days rap artist are all buddy buddy with eachother and dont wanna offend each other hence why kendricks control verse was so shocking to the hiphop world when it came out) its in the nature of every true rap lyricist to wanna be considered the greatest of all time. As the great krs one once said "I'm not sayin I'm number 1, ugh sorry, I lied, I'M NUMBER 1, 2,3,4, AND 5!"
Kool g rap, lord finesse, kool keith, oc, chino xl, killa priest...all slept on lyricists
Kool G Rap for me 🙌🙌🙌
KRS is not in the same league of lyricists as Kane, Rakim, Nas, Melle, Mel, G. Rap, Biggie, Treach, Moe Dee, Em and Pun. Rakim isn’t in same class of performers as Kane, KRS, Doug, Busta, Wyclef, Chuck D and Black Thought. Different artists bring different strengths. A few are flawless from every angle.
the GOD FLOW MCS are ... rakim, krs, kane, slick rick, masta ace , kool g rap, jaz o,kool moe dee ..any rapper today can trace their style to these guys
Ken Freeman you left out father MC, positive k and kwame, three times dope
his answer alone is why he’s one of the greatest 💯💯💯
BDK i believe is the goat and blueprint of hip hop that still exists to this day. He was always way ahead of his time and his blueprint is what still exists. But no doubt BDK, Rakim and Krs 1 was when lyricist were born and gave birth to the rest that followed
Even though he's bein' very confident when he say's that he's just fuckin' incredible, he's tellin' the truth because back in '88, he was the MC who was the hottest cat on the block!! And what he said was true when it was Him, KRS, and Rakim who changed the way people rhymed!!!!
Rakim and KGR brought in the multi's, giving birth to the dope flow.
Kane said 'My Name Will Remain Like a Hieroglyphic'..........so add Prophet to his long list of talents..because it dam sure will.
Kool G Rap definitely deserve credit too
Kane got facts and States today's mcs hasn't changed the game lyrically
NWA came out in the 80's too and now matter what you say, niggas started rhyming different after that too
I got mad love for NWA especially bein from Cali but they ain't true lyricists like Kane, Rak, and KRS. I'll admit that full heartedly. They might've changed shit but it was because they were speakin on shit that wasnt bein touched.
N.W.A is definitely the innovators of gangsta music, period. They owned that shit but as far as mcing and raw lyrics, they were not on the level as he mentioned but N.W.A did start gangsta music though.
Jay K. NWA popularized more what niggas would rhyme about, not the way they spit. They spit more about the gangsta lifestyle that was prevalent in their hoods. But they didn't have crazy bars like the niggas Kane mentioned.
Jay K. NWA was a westcoast more hardcore version of Run DMC.
On the a surface level, NWA changed content. But more importantly they democratized rap music. Before you NWA, you had to sound like you were from the East Coast, AND you had to make story raps and bragging raps. If you ever get into random rap, there are plenty of Run DMC clones in the $1 bin. ICE T had a Schooly D flow. Couldn't be an mc without having a thesaurus lying around.
After NWA, you could be Podunk Town's Most Wanted and rap about the life in your hood with your own perspective and slang. So you get the Geto Boys, you get the Dayton Family, The Showboys, a bunch of small town mc's and gangsters with something to say. There's basically an explosion of hip hop groups all over the US after NWA.
Now whether that was a good thing is something you can debate, but hip hop was no longer just for wordy mf'ers who could talk a lot of shit.
Shit KRS changed the way I viewed hiphop and lyrics in 2001. This was during like Jay vs Nas and when 50 was just getting started. I heard KRS and was blown away. I had never heard hiphop on the level BUT fast forward to now and I'm so disappointed in that shit that's goin on wit him and Bam and that whole shit. KRS was like one of my idols
That’s what I’ve been saying it has not elevated it has regressed
He is naming true MC’s. He chose them because all that followed are under the umbrella of the top three. He is talking straight facts. Those three definitely changed the game.
I don't see that list without LL Cool J....LL changed rap with his smooth Lady Love Cool J flow......Going Back To Cali and Round The Way Girl....Come On Son...Big Daddy Kane can talk all he wants, LL outsold him on any day!
KRS one is intelligent and with his delivery.
STRAIGHT TRUTH WHAT KANE SAID!!!!!!! AND HOW HE SAID IT!!!!!!! SHOUT TO THE BEST LYRICIST OF ALL TIME PERIOD!!!!! UNTOUCHABLE!!!!!! THEN RAHIM FOLLOWED BY KRS ONE!!!! END OF THE STORY, CONVERSATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN'T TOUCH HIM KANE THAT IS SEE YA! PEACE AND HAVE SOME HAIR GREASE!!!!!!!
Eric Ford respect pops man i agree
For me and ive been listen to hip hop since 1993 and for me my top 3 lyricist are nas eminem kool g rap
Damn, Big Daddy Kane's list is so cohesive. He said fuck everybody else, this is my list, you can't hate on it.
1991 Tretch changed how lyrics are structured aswell
He is ABSOLUTELY correct!!!
@0:18 👻 passing in the back
All 3 of these guys are in my top 5 along with Nas and Biggie
he's right..100%!!! everyone is talking about this one and that one. and most everyone mentioned is the bomb. BUT YOUR NOT LISTENING TO THE QUESTION OR ANSWER! those 3 cats literally changed the varying flows. there hasn't been a Trinity like them since. most everyone now,you can link there flows to those 3. read,"There's a GOD on the mic: the 50 greatest MC's" by Kool Moe Dee.. breaks it ALL down!
Are people seriously mentioning 2pac as a lyricist? Don't get me wrong 2pac is my favorite rapper but he was more a poet with a strong message. Lyricists are rappers that can rap fast & master their breathing while combining words fluedly.
There's a difference between lyricists & emcee's. Krs1 can break it down explaining that, matter of fact Vlad you should upload a video asking Krs1 that!
honestly everyone who rhymes for the love of rap is an MC, it shouldnt be classes to this like call of duty or some shit.
I.C. Weiner I hear you but you can't call all fruit apples though.. their not the same
truth be told feeling this shit so I could tell plenty to shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down if u don't know what u talking about, some apples are ROTTEN ¬ because they love themself. &don't even know how to do that if the world wouldn't be so corrupt
What happened to Kool Moe D yall dont know what you talkin bout lool
Warm it up, Kane!!
So was Slim Jesus your inspiration early in your career? -Vlad
Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, and Kool G Rap are the top 3 lyricists of all time in my opinion.
'Cause I'm so smooth....!! Big Daddy Kane
Well said Big Daddy Kane..
This is true. They are the big 3 but there are others that have to be mentioned that I feelnround out the real list of most influential:
Grand Master Casanova
Melle Mel
Kool Moe Dee
LL Cool J
Rakim
KRS 1
Kane
KOOL G Rap
Ice Cube
Too short
These emcees spawned styles and/or entire sub genres that still exist to this.day.
U gotta add Rae big l. But I agree with that too four. Although my order was different hey I'm a fan
Hold up Kane, don't forget Kool Moe Dee!!!!!
