  • I intended to do just a simple in and out to Twin Lakes for the last trip of the season - I just wanted to get out one more time. It was SO WINDY at Twin Lakes that I retreated to a campsite on the outlet below the lake, then followed that creek to the Enchanted Pools and made my way back via the Tyler Lake Trail.

I so wish I could still do that. Major spinal surgeries, ankle surgeries have relegated me to living in chronic pain. I don't let it stop me but distance walking is out of the question. Never been there but I'm enjoying it with you. Thank you so much!🙏❤️✝️✝️✝️

if the cairns are leading toward enchanted lakes, the reason there are so many is because the streams of snowmelt early summer wash all the trail markers away coming from wrights lake and so people put the cairns up to help random groups who split up in different directions at the loss of the trail.
Thats my theory anyway, a buddy and i just got back from a one nighter up there at enchanted pools and the trail was a nightmare, we had alltrails downloaded and that was what we used... had to cross over 5 different sections of rushing streams because of how bad the trails get messed up over there...
long story short, those cairns reallyed us stay on the trail without having to constantly check our phone.

Is Wrights Lake Road passable with a regular 2wheel drive auto?

I'm glad I decided to keep going too! Would have been quite a failure if I just hiked out.

What beautiful scenery! We also learned to really love camping along running water. Even better if a lake and running water are together. Looks like you had a great trip. :)

Susie Lake was perfect! A nice big pretty lake and an AMAZING roaring outlet creek.

Enjoyed your hike. When I️ was camped at Wright’s Lake Campground the closing weekend I️ met a fellow camper who was a BigFoot researcher who was studying the area especially the Emerald Pools. Supposedly 15 years ago or so a camper had an encounter near the pools.

There are LOTS of bigfoot 'researcher's out there. I don't believe he exists especially in DW. It's just too small. Someone would have spotted him and gotten good pics by now. Glad you like the vid - cheers!

When did you do this hike? Was it November 2017?

Yes... or maybe it was Halloween, but it was shortly before the post date
