Twin Lakes Desolation Wilderness 2019

Up for my first trip of the season to my 'comfort food" of backpacking, Twin Lakes in Desolation Wilderness. I'm in dreadful condition and have lots of new equipment to test out - PLUS lots of water and snow for late July.

Desolation Wilderness is a special place... My first solo overnighter was supposed to be at Smith Lake, but I ended up camping here at Twin Lakes.

This looks like one of the best starts to your seasons yet! Way to go! Hopefully you're already on another one! Mid week trips are the way to go. These permits are getting more difficult year by year. This weekend for instance, slim pickin's!

i seen a marmot right above island lake
