1980’s my scout troop got trapped up there during a very bad thunderstorm with hail! We always started at the Scotchman store hiked to the bridge. Yes! There was nothing there back 40 years ago
Takes me about 40 minutes to MacCrae Peak, just under 1 mile. That’s the destination point beyond the top of the ladders. I hike very fast, For seasoned hikers, allow at least an hour, give or take depending on your fitness. Can avoid the ladders on return by using the Underwood Trail, only one ladder, but very rugged. Would allow even more time with that route to return.
Thanks for the video! A friendly reminder to all, hiker etiquette is to let uphill have the right of way. It truly is all about momentum and rhythm. ❤
I like to think it's the opposite. Let them come down and give the people going up a rest
Three of us hiked this trail back in October 2003, but never made it to the top of Attic Window. Definitely the most rugged trail I have ever been on.
thk U for this VIDEO ..
my view of the mountain
from I421 .. 👍
Thanks for sharing this one, it's been on my list for a while. I need to get back to Grandfather Mountain!
Great clip! Keep charging (without lightning) 😉⚡️

I will be fine, I can't stand heights either, I did it, unbelievable views!!!!
Man that takes some serious guts to climb those ladders.
AS MANY TIME AS I've DONE THEM, THEY STILL TIGHTEN ME UP A BIT.
HEAVY breathing broooo! 😂
Yea, pushing it way too hard. Should’ve covered it up with some cheesy music and subtitles.
I wish I had watched this BEFORE I did it. Dear God.
I just posted a video from about 1985 from when me and my scout troop hiked that.
From the parking lot to the top of the ladders. How long does that take? To get back to the parking lot, do you need to go back down the ladders?

@@blueridgeactive2020 Thank you!
Great video. What was the mileage for this video?
From the trail head to the end point, Attic Window Peak, was 1.1 mile.
😎👍
Sugar Top is a blight on the land. They might as well have put a McDonalds there too, gross.
Good video…and I like purism, but no need for the respiratory volume. It’s understood that it’s a steep climb.

Great video. Need to do something about microphone placement. Way to much heavy breathing. Stay safe
Yep. Next time I go threshold pace, need to just do subtitles and cheesy music.
Mute the heavy breathing
