After reading some of the comments it's very clear people these days are impossible to please. Apparently everything should be made exactly how they want it made. With that being said I want a 900 hp 4x4 truck that gets 80 mpg and never needs maintenance.
i want an e-drum that feels and looks exactly like an acoustic one
Yeah I want 90 HP E Drums lol
@@RGBcrafterRoland V507
Quick pointer for the people calling it cheap sounding, a few pointers that i bet Cooper can back up:
If it sounds cheap to you, your ear isn't the one it's designed for. High end ekits use a lot of processing when using most of all presets. Kits like this which to you might sound fake, are deliberately flat in EQ and without space. The point is to make it easier to mix into music.
If you've used VSTs for composition as long as I have, you know that samples almost never sound good out of the box for live play, for the exact same reasons i just mentioned. If you want a preset that sounds authentic, that's fine, but you're shooting yourself in the foot when attempting to mix/process the sound. Unless you're live recording an acoustic kit, you want whatever sampled instrument you are using to be as easy to work with as possible.
With reverb, EQ and a little know-how, this kit likely will sound perfect - and i believe even more after having heard Estepario play it, and having played the kit at guitar center.
I currently play on an alesis nitro max. THAT is a cheap sounding kit. I wish my kit sounded this good naked.
I've got a Nitro Max too and you can't beat it for the price. I would like to purchase this module and use it on my Nitro Max. The pads are all two tone so just eliminate the cable snake and get cables so you can plug into the Strata Prime module and I bet it would sound great at a fraction of the cost.
Nice bro! Great overview!
I don’t see how people can say this kit sounds bad, after watching the demo from Sweetwater on this kit I personally think it sounds really good.
I think the Sweetwater demo sounded great. This one not so much.
like any module its all how you set it up - and what powered speaker setup you feed it to...even the alesis strike module sounds fine when you set up the sounds...
These are more tools than a sound anyway. You could make it fart noises if you wanted.
this is the best sounding ekit i have ever heard
It sounds bad because he plays bad. He's not that good. I really don't understand how he has almost 3mil subs
This was the best demo of this kit I've seen yet. Really impressive stuff. I'm still happy with my Yamaha kit, but I'm glad to see Alesis moving module tech forward to this extent. They'll be a contender when/I eventually upgrade.
Get roland they are so much better
HERE FOR IT!!!
I love it i think its sick, if i ever get a place with the room this thing will be there.
Hi Cooper, thanks a lot for this great review! I would ask how you evaluate this new module comparing to the Pearl Mimic pro... Thanks!!
I've had the Mimic Pro and the Gewa G9, This seems to be on Par with both. Its has the BFD VST as a sound engine. Its been around since early 2000. Not as good as Superior Drummer, but it has stuck around and is still pretty good. This gives you 3 zone HI hat that you wont get on the Mimic, but have to have the Alesis Hihat at the moment. The mimic has a few more pad manufacturer compatibility options, but that doesn't mean the Alesis wont have these later on also in an update. Other than that very similar. You'll have to look and see which user interface you prefer since that will be the biggest difference. With the Alesis you will also get more fx/808 electronic sounds. Stephen Slate Drums sticks much closer to the acoustic sounds as a VST which is what is in the Pearl Mimic Pro. Hopefully that helps you.
@@shep00703 thanks a lot for this reply! But talking exclusively about sound quality, is the strata comparable to mimic, straight out of the box?
I was watching other demos on this new kit - question is there a DELAY WHEN YOU CHANGE KITS or starting playing and all the sounds are present ??? Tommy
My guy Cooper3Drumm3r I can’t stop loving your biggest Opening your New ALESI Drum 🥁 ❤😂😅
i have used the strike pro for 3 years gigging 3 to 4 times a month and have had no problems but its time for an upgrade! was looking at the roland vad 507 but im going with this beast right here! great review.
Honestly, get the VAD. Having tried both (yes I've tried the Strata, I work at Andertons), the sounds are great with the Strata but the overall feel of the VAD - both with pads and hardware - is far superior
@@Laurence_Balfourthanks for that advice. Looking at a VAD507
Once companies like Evan's figure out how to put sensors in or underneath a slip on or clip on drum head sorta like the black holes so everyone can have hybrid sets that will be the game changer!!
Definitely look at the VAD. They feel great. I can’t describe it, you have to see for yourself. I put feel and durability over sounds but that’s me. I use VST too and Roland has never let me down.
Can you make an album of music with your videos altogether in each category of genre of music😊 cause always listen to your youtube
I have a strike pro se as s beginner and its pretty good. I tried a high end Roland and the digital snare, hi hat and ride are ridiculous.
I noticed you mentioned if using the main outs to FOH you don't need a DI. I am wondering if a DI would be required if using the assignable outs.
got duped by the strike pro some years ago idk man this marketing as always is selling a dream
Coop3rdrumm3r, have you had any issues with this kit since receiving and playing for a bit? Any issues with the module?
Wow that's awesome
This drum-set is awsome! It remindes me a little to the time when Alesis released the ADAT. Of course it has not the groundbreaking, gamechanging effect because e-drums already exists. But the potential of this set for that price is simple awsome.
And for those who say here "Oh, it doesn't sound like...", you didn't see what this kit offers. The trigger-system of this set delivers so much control, so it is just a matter of choosinge the right sound-stack. Go and give it a try :-)
As soon as possible I will buy this kit. Thanks for this great review :-)
If I buy this kit and want to use it to play out at gigs ,, how much will it cost for a stand alone sound system ?
Kit doesnt have bluetooth audio and crosstick is unnatural to trigger
Will Alesis 3 zone cymbals work on roland td27 ir td50 module??
Curious to your review of the EFNOTE Pro.
hi Casey ive been watching you since 2016 and , I finally saved up and got a drumkit and I really need help
I want to start making covers just like you but I don't have enough money to buy a whole mic set, please advise me if there is a cheaper way to make drum covers please bro🙏
Simply cant wait till the Module is available stand alone
If this had deeper shells instead of goofy looking pads, I'd buy it in a minute. Also, those gold tension rods are not my cup of tea (but easily replaceable)
Also, I hope they've improved durability. I had a CommandX kit that had triggers failing after about 14 months.
But the Alesis pricepoint is decent. I've been eyeing the Efnote Pro707 as a dream kit - but it's 5 grand more than this one! Which is ridiculous!
Do you have the ability to change drumheads on each type of drum?
I just noticed coop put a shaker to the cymbal , but there is a stop and an new part where he hits the cymbal , is this because of the delay time it takes for the sound to appear , & also noticed coop talked about the different sound libraries , but did not touch & play the cymbal or drum . So I guess either someone clearifies this or I myself have to test it myself when they are available locally
So dope
Are they better than Yamaha DTX10K
Are you able to put the 14" next to the 12" on the rack? Is there room like the Strike Pro had? I do not like to have two floor toms side by side, just my preference. Not sure there is room on the top rack.
Check Samus66's review, he has a different setup which I think is what you're describing. He has the smallest tom on the left side of the rack (but mounted a little higher to be on the same height as thr other toms). That leaves room for the 12 and 14 on the middle part, leaving just one 14 floor tom on the right side. Looks awesome and not at all difficult to set up.
8:59 not correct. Most e-drums have multiple sound layers and some even interval, position and touch awareness too.
does it have audio over USB like my Ef Note 5 kit?
Ah well I went and bought a VAD507 like a year ago, I think I'd buy this this time around, clearly... even if VAD looks cooler, fuck that
edit: watch 65Drums vid on it, after watching it I dont think it is
Same here . I'm thinking trade my vad504 for this one.
I already owned the se pro.
I agree with you vad looks cool, but f.... that..
Can you use brushes on this kit? If so, which do you recommend?
not recommended with brushes. i don’t think they make an electronic kit that works with brushes
I know that probably you can adjust that on the sensitivity parameter or log curve, but the way that the dynamics, specifically for the toms, sounds a little bit artificial to me yet. Obviously the sounds are amazing, however I'm still feeling some lack of sensitivity and dynamics compared to an acoustic kit... Said that, this is a great product from alesis, but they need hurry up in reconquer the territory they lost all those years.
The rim shot on the snare does not sound like a rim shot. it just sounds like you are triggering the snare head and the rim at the same time. same when side sticking. other than that I think its a really nice set. but I don't see it available yet where I live.
Very nice 👍
request a cover of the Indonesian song entitled LINTANG BY NTRL BAND
People being hard on this kit are simply dying on the hill of the acoustic kit that isn't worth it. This shows how far electronic sets have come and in a package that compared to Roland, dw, and pearl comes in at a fraction of the cost.
This is a big deal for the electronic drum community as a whole and really helps to elevate the continued electric kit advancements and boundaries.
Can the display be set to left handed?
I hope so because I think I'm going for it
I don't know about you guys but if I'm going to pay 3.5k I want it to look like an acoustic kit.
Do you have a link for this kit and what is the price??
It’s over 4k 😂
it's not it's 3500€@@DylicousDylan
@@sRichterMusic still 3,700 USD. Without tax But they have this same kit but with and extra drum and cymbal that is over 4k which is what I found when I searched it
Got the strike pro SE was 3,300 talked them down to $2,800 you can always negotiate prices..
So everything's perfect? Not a single downside?
26 minute review and nothing about the hats? The most expressive piece in a drum kit and the hardest for an e-kit to get right. Love ya Cooper, but c’mon
I personally wish most drum reviews were just someone playing instead of talking.
@@reaper69316then it wouldn't be a review
I love it....❤❤❤❤👌👌👌👌
Are you on a cruise right now? I feel like I saw you lol.
I am on a cruise right now haha Norwegian
Roland and Mimic Pro, u guys are so f....ed 😂
$3,500+ ? They can do far better for pricing.
Nope. It is an extreme value. Far better than Roland or even Ef NOTE.
why? ...why spend so much time on the lovely Acoustic looking kick, then have the same rubbish looking pads for everything else (if they were going for stage presence). The presets sound pretty awful to me. I'll stick with my Roland TD-50k2. It will be interesting to see if they have improved their quality and failure rate issues. The Module is nice, but no support for Roland Rolands Digital Ride, Snare or HiHat kills it as a separate purchase, if it even is available on its own for me also, also, the screen is so laggy and slow to touch ( Capacitive Touchscreen? ). I use mine with Superior Drummer 3 anyway, and that still has the best sounding kits for me.
Well not at that price range honestly and you can use superior drummer 3 as well with this kit:)
Always Efnote😊
Glad you enjoyed the EFNOTEs, they are well made. I did not like the super-dry sounds, and lack of options to tune the kit, and to grow the kit. Just ordered a Strata today.
Amigo porque no tienes un cover del grupo Earth, Wind and Fire canción September??
Drums sound ok to me but the cymbals sound like trash (IMHO)
I didn't wanna say anything, but the cymbals sound like absolute garbage. Glad it wasn't just me 😛
Such a click bait title
I’ve been saving up for a Roland Td-27 KV2 which is the same price as the strata prime and it’s hard to believe that the Alesis is better
Agreed. Roland all day for me.
stick with Roland.
I would buy the Alesis far before Roland. I had a Roland td17. Functionally it was fine, but sound wise it sounded like junk. Yeah I could plug up a computer but who wants to take their laptop to play out somewhere? Plus these pads are much larger than rolands. Roland makes the VAD line and they look acoustic, but they sound like synthesized dog farts. Lol. Alesis, EFnote, ATV, 2box and Pearl all have much nicer modules than any Roland ever manufactured. I still have a ddrum4 from decades ago that sounds better than Roland.
This kit is different, not necessary better. Alesis are not known for quality and support, so I would wait a year to see if there are any issues, availability for spare parts, firmware bugs, extra kits, etc. It's a lot of money to throw down, so choose wisely.
@@djashjones I’ve already seen a few reviews stating the module locks up and crashes. Hopefully it’s a simple firmware fix and will get better. But it’s a computer/os module so just like a laptop, so long boot up and can lock up and crash. Not something you need in a live environment
Not super familiar with this channel I am wondering if this is a free kit and you’re getting paid by Alesis to hype it up?
looks fun, sounds not great lol
almost 3 millions subscriber and only 19K view? i know someone who buy some followers haha - Nice review though !
This kit is littered with tech issues. the module is just NOT ready for consumers. As someone who cannot play his BRAND NEW Strata prime because the module chokes every 2 minutes and needs to be powered down, take it from me and the many others who have shared this same complaint. AVOID this kit until they work out the bugs. Waiting on a 'new' module to come in the mail from Alesis.. Broken out of the box.
I can't understand the hype about this kit - there is NO digital output over USB! So where is the premium value? Brands like Efnote or Roland give you digital outs since years ago - and Alesis messed this up - again!
Too much money. Better buying an acoustic one
well, duh. ekits are for people that don’t have the option of playing a real kit
First
I just came to give you a thumbs down for saying game changer. Ok continue, I'm out. Lol
No…sorry…still just overpriced junk.
😂😂😂 Sounds cheap
Agree but I hope they upload new sounds with firmware updates
I think the strike pro had the same issue
Really sounds dry once you adjust settings and ambience it will sound mint!!!
Isn’t it BFD3 sound engine or whatever? If I got a kit like that with AD2 sounds I’d be made up….but then again my modded TD9 does AD2 sounds just fine🤷♂️😂
It’s an E kit that should explain it all 🤣
nah it sounds authentic, unlike roland’s overly compressed and machine gunny sounds
