Hey all, on watching this back I realise I talk about having Bluetooth or wireless functionality to connect to headphones or speakers, the reality of that would be pretty terrible as there would be a delay from hitting the pad to hearing the sounds, so it’s not really practical. A guy can dream though. 😅🤘🏻
I’ve been playing for 30 years, just bought one of these kits for the sake of space saving and noise reduction so the issues with the pedal/snare stand won’t effect me as I already have my own stand/pedal that I can use and well happy that I caught your video so I can avoid the snare issue from the start!
I put the snare where the module is usually mounted so it is sturdier having two leg support, it also mounts it higher since I'm tall. I then mounted the module on the arm meant for the snare and swung it outside the kit. It's a little harder to reach and see, but it's working out way better this way.
I've had no issues with the snare, but I've noticed that some people set the kit up incorrectly by having the top toms L brackets on the inside of the rack instead of the outside. That means that the toms are closer to you, and then you have to move the snare too far along the horizontal cross piece towards you, and that's probably where the issue starts. Also if you're a hard hitter with heavy sticks that ain't gonna help either. I agree with you, students WACK drums and then you have problems, I've had no issues with my Max and it's been 3 months.
@@Imbettadenu It's very simple and TOMS AREN'T THE ISSUE - I don't know why they are brought up. Basically on mounting points thumbwheels are facing down and mount point (hole) should be on outside of frame - not inside that is ALL. A mere flip or spin fixes what is a non issue.
Thank you for this fantastic and real world review of the hardware itself. There are plenty of reviews of drum kits regarding playability and such but it was very helpful to see a thorough overview of some of the pros and cons as well as some usage tips. It seems that many of these may apply to other e-drum kits as well. Well done!
@@RhythmRoomMusicSchool Yes I did. Very happy with it. I'm still making the adjustments. Have trouble hearing the hi-hat, even with phones, but that's probably just age related hearing loss. (72 yrs.). Those upper frequencies get softer and softer.....
The reason bluetooth headphones have never been a thing, with any wireless instrument/in-ear monitor setups, is due to audio latency. No one wants to hear drums play after they've struck them. We are just now starting to reach 10ms "acceptable" latency for the newest Bluetooth 5.3, but it would probably be more expensive for gadgets to install. But you're right, maybe one day it will be fast enough and cheap enough...
I'm 68 I've been Drumming since age 5 that's as far as I can remember. Always been using bongos timbales Congas acoustic drums. I just got this Alises kit the video to set up made it simple. .
Great follow up. On a real drum kit it's obvious when you're hitting rather than playing an instrument. On a real kit the people you play with will let you know when you're too loud.
This and 66Samus reviews of e-kits were really really helpful. Thanks! Curious to know the "importance" of 3-zone vs 2-zone ride cymbals from a learning perspective.
Thanks for the comment and I'm glad it was useful. On a 'real' cymbal you can create three distinct sounds; hitting the edge for a 'crash' sound, hitting the face for a ping sound and hitting the bell of the ride for a more cutting sound, if learning grades, this becomes useful from about grade 5, so from an intermediate/advanced level a three zone functionality starts to become useful. Hope that helps!
@@RhythmRoomMusicSchool thank you so much for replying! Indeed after playing around a Nitro Max I realized I still have a lot to learn before worrying about the different cymbal sounds hehe.
Thank you for this. I've had the kit a week and I love it ...but I've already noticed a few issues. It could be my headphones, but I've noticed some of the sounds echo regardless of whether I change the reverb or not. The HH splash also isn't as intuitive as I thought it would be compared to an acoustic kit, which is obv instant.
Definitely buy a snare stand that snare mount leg it keeps coming loose , and if your a bigger person the whole kit seems small , I plan on buying the expansion kit and will buy another snare stand to hold it because of the compact size
I'm interested in getting an e-drum kit that both my 10 year old and I can use. I'm on the shorter side, but am interested in the Pro over the Max. Do you think a kid could practice comfortably on the Pro? If not, do you think I could practice comfortably on the Max?
I'm quite new to drumming but I feel like one of the points you made make no sense based on what I've heard/read. I get that hitting the pads harder will wear them out quicker but isn't that considered a good thing? I read that a lot of people who play e-drums develop a really soft playing style that doesn't translate well to the dynamics of an acoustic kit.
For the snare, just buy a cheap snare stand. $25. Furniture risers can "lift" the kit. Buy audio y-splitters to access the other triggers from the toms adding piezo transducers to whatever you want to hit. You can also add low-volume cymbals with piezo transducers. A low-cost Yamaha FP-7210A pedal is a good upgrade too. This kit can really be expanded.
I'm thinking of adding the Alesis Nitro Max expanded to my collection, together with my Tama double bass pedal, Tama snare stand and Millenium E-hi hat, but however I am an EXTREMELY hard hitter. So I might have to learn to not hit hard?
The base pedal has 2 grub screws on the bottom that "locks" the metar bar in place. They are loose from factory and often they will unscrew themselves and will not contact with the bar, causing it to start to slide and come out. Nothing that a bit of loctite can't solve.
Hey bro does your bluetooth have light? Mine doesn’t light up even if I am using the bluetooth already, is that normal? Or should I return the module kit?
Thanks for your vids! I already buy myself nitro max and it's pretty nice for my first e-drum kit. Right now I think about upgrade kit with fourth cymbal. Does this kit will work with three triggered cymbal from another manufacturer?
Hi bro! Please, can u tell if the hats have variable CC? I'm thinking of buying a separate controlled hi-hat, one of those that imitate a real hi-hat, but if it's just to have a CLOSED/OPEN it's not worth it, I would like to know if this module supports variable sound between CLOSED/OPEN like a real hi-hat... Can you help me with this? THANK YOU
i like it. THe expansion-Kit just arrived today. I have some problems to connect it to my DAW, but maybe it's just a problem iwth the old USB-Cable. The new one also arrived today. I'll tet it tomorrow. For myself, i did not found a comfotable position for the sanre yet. Straight in front or to the left? I dont know. Thank you for your videos. It helped me for my decission to buy it and also to build it up.
Hate how the pedals move all over even with a rug. Had to buy velcro strips. And the snare arm sucks. Went and bought a snare stand the same day cause it kept getting loose.
Hey really love your channel ur videos are very helpful. I have a question though I'm not sure if you could help but I'm thinking of getting an e kit and I'm a beginner. I'm torn between getting the alesis nitro max or the millenium MPS-450. Ik there are mixed reviews about the alesis but it seems really good. Idk much about the millenium so I'm wondering if you could help and tell me which is the best to get . Thank you

This is much better remember Titan is a Chinese brand. It's not a real musical brand and this one is a real musical brand. I would say there are on similar price, but I would pick this over titan and I used to own a titan and I will tell you this is way better.
Hi, did you resolve this? Please note the kit does not come with internal speakers, so an amplifier or headphones is required in order to hear the kit sounds.
Hi, is it possible to tilt forward the snare and toms a little bit or are the connections rigid with no ability to tilt them forward like an acoustic set can? They look awkwardly flat . Thanks
Experienced drummer here: Yes, you SHOULD tilt the toms a little bit towards you on ALL drum kits. But not the snare. If you are willing to spend some extra I would recommend the Tama HS80PW Snare Stand.
You clearly really believe in the Nitro Mesh/Max system because it has been suggested to so many of your students, but if there were just ONE model from elsewhere (either Alesis or other) that you said "I don't want to rock the boat when so many students have Nitro but I kind of wish everyone had X" what would it be? Maybe a bit pricier something?

Is there any backwards compatibility parts with the nitro mesh. As the snare would be a good upgrade size wize. I'm guessing the model is in no way compatible.
