This jam is a realtime dial-up of just a few of the tones that the mighty Strymon Riverside is capable of. It can do everything from boost to slaughter and all shades in between. To play the Riverside is to love it and to be inspired by it. In fact, it's inspired me to step away from my beloved Fractal Audio Systems gear for a bit and put a 'real' pedalboard together, based around this drive. Winner, winner and winner again.
The backing track, "Golden Era" is courtesy of www.jamtrackcentral.com.

Great tone great playing. I was mentally transported back to the Golden Era when Fagen and Becker ruled the FM airwaves. Good times. Made my day.
Brett, I am honestly love your playing.Right now I am watching this clip for the fifth time analyzing your playing, figuring out your patterns, riffs. It is like taking a 10 hour music course. Great video as always.
Some of the more tasteful and delightful playing I've seen in your videos, I'm loving this playing!
I just received this pedal today after watching your basic review. It’s astonishing and sounds superb - I’ve only tested it with a Squire Tele and I could get any.sound.I.wanted out of it from a Tele perspective. BTW, the recent Indonesian Squires are fantastic. I have 3 of them and you would not hesitate to gig or record with them. The Riverside will find a permanent home on my Rivera Clubster pedalboard
Nice old school OD+boost with a touch of modernity. Entertaining demo Burgs \m/
Sounds like a Steely Dan audition reel! hehe (Not that there's anything wrong with that!) Nice tones, nice stompbox.
that's what i said
Damn! This is a nice one! Outstanding demo!
oh yeah! Killer Brett. Love it.Favourite feature, brilliant.
Tone is so subjective - lots of folks say it's too fizzy or this or that. Personally, I've been listening to probably hundreds of pedal demos and this is still the top dog that I am considering as my go to overdrive/distortion with the greatest versatility. I imagine Brett can't comment on what he thinks is the best because his job is to present a great demonstration and let you decide. Some folks say it is too expensive but considering its versatility and the added functionality, I think it's a deal. Are you Riversiders still on your honeymoon?
It sounds really good. Like Elliot Randall in a box! Very nice playing Brett!
Sounds like a TV theme from the 80's :-)
Great demo, Brett
🎉great feel player
Very Steely Dan....this is a very specific pedal stating the obvious, but slick if its used correctly, and great amp choice. Nice one mate, gotta hand it to MM to I'm still stuck with them and no doubt will be forevermore.
Nice!
Great demo--upbeat tunes!
Great playing, Brett. Sweet sounding pedal, but my eyes popped out on stalks when I saw the price!
Blimey! Well done!
Tasty!
... sehr gut, bravo.
This is more my type of OD - musical, powerful and lots of flexible tones-that Albert Lee is sweet
Very 70s sounding, great tones.
Loved the playing! Who gives a fuck what pedal you were playing. It made do difference!!!
Yep... A lot of Mike Post and Larry Carlton is this stew. Good stuff!
Yeah! Hail, Burgs.
very tasty
Tasteful
Looking for the Allman brothers guitar sound just found it
gggggreat!!

Hi. How can I change mi Favorite preset? Thank you
1980s movie "getting stuff done" music, or "driving on the highway" footage from an 80s movie.
This pedal is ridiculously versatile, but the sounds aren't quite as good I think Strymon sounds should be. As always, fantastic demo Brett.
Hi great demo. I know you said you going thru your Vibrolux Replica, but are plugging in the clean channel or the effects send. Thanks
Thanks! I'm going into the Vibrato channel, input 1, Bright switch off, Bass 4, Treble 5-6.
Thanks for answering me back. You're the best demo person for pedals etc. on you tube. The right amount of playing and chat. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.
Great stuff Brett. Steely Dan in a box.
digging that doobie sounding backing track.
Is it me or does the Riverside really seem to prefer single coils?
This, an El Capistan and a Flint. And a new wife, because the current one will leave me when I do that.
Bret, your tone is soooooo good in this one man. You inspired me to buy 3 pedals this week. Do you do much of post record track editing of the guitar audio? (EQ? Compression?) What kind of volumes are you usually playing at? (Gig level? Loud bedroom level? Quiet enough to talk over if someone else were in the room?)
Its an OD or Dist type pedal?
fedboy21 both and to the people judging it negatively, have u tried it in person? Nope.
coffeewaldo i got a chance to trying it after isaw this vid, but not the sound that ive been looking for. Why so sarcastic? Lol
Great. Not even a hint of the cheap fizziness that we hear on the digital overdrives
This or bogner la grange? Still cant decided yet
fedboy21 i feel your pain..did u decide yet? Im leaning towards this one for versatility but the bogner sounds very good.
riheg neither those 2...got a chance to trying them both in my local store and a/b em on mesa tc50 amp. And the result wasnt the sound ive been looking for. Now im interested in seymour duncan palladium. But dont hve trying it yet.
sounds wicked very Steely Dan at times
Great playing as always. Not trying to Troll, but I think this is the first fail for Strymon. Sounds way to fizzy. I think people are judging this pedal on the name and are not using their ears. Much better sounding dirt pedals out there at half the price. JMO.
I agree
But with this versatility? You could be right but IDK
For the money, the Analog Drive is far better
Sounds alright, but i would be much more interested in hearing sunset, mostly high gain stuff.
