you can get the legendary chest by climbing down a rope hidden behind the pillar of boxes right at the start, just hold down as you walk over the top and you should start to climb down
rock and stone, brother Btw, i think the new heat mechanic on Miner is awesome. Looks visually cool, and exactly what he needed to not feel like a more boring Mercenary.
I haven't played returns yet, but just wanted to say that HAN-D, with his basic skills was very strong survivor in a first game. In-built healing in survivor`s kit is huge in RoR1.
@drakonlegend4452 yeah it's nerfed to a 2 second on the remake but still insanely strong. I find loaders alt secondary to make her way more balanced but also fun because it's cool to use. The new bullet punch is a blast as well and combos well with the alt secondary. The new conduit is crazy actually, far better than the default. It's basically an on demand war banner that also zaps enemies nearby
Man I love railgunner in ror2 but she never managed to quite capture what I loved about sniper in ror1. Sniper is easily my favourite character in the whole series. You just get into a rhythm when playing them that feels very satisfying.
They're both my favorite characters in each respective game. Personally I really feel like railgunner has the same rhythm as sniper. Maybe it feels different because of no backflip and sniper's right click got moved to railgunner's ult.
@@josephgoddard7438 Railgunner's mine doesnt feel as good as backflip fs, but they do practically have a simikar kit, guranteed crit, high damage tap fire, reload mechanic, while base sniper felt more agile due to backflip, the utility railgunner got from smart round w/attack speed is also to be noted.
I prefer to use Miner's Burnout skill, mainly because your dash's invuln frames linger just long enough for you to use burnout while you are still invulnerable, so you get to use it without the self damage.
Miner was my favorite in the original and playing as him in this game is a great improvement especially with the alternate utility where you just explode yourself
The only problem is that his heat mechanic is practically identical to void fiend. Tin all honesty, if they were to add anyone I think chef would be a great addition.
@graceiouyce584 In what way are they similar? Miners mechanic is based on hitting enemies and being as aggressive as possible to maintain scorching for as long as possible. Void Fiends mechanic is based upon having two alternate forms and movesets, with one excelling at healing and mid to longe range, and the other being a close range glass cannon. You also do not want corrupted up full time like you want Scorching up full time as it leaves you unable to heal or deal with flying enemies. Corruption is also built on dealing damage and the only thing that lowers it is healing, while taking damage and landing crits raises it. Miner loses Scorching through skill use and not fighting enemies, and builds it as long as he is attacking with his M1 and nothing else. Outside of Scorching and Corruption being meters next to your character, they have almost no simularities at all. This is like saying there's no need for Railgunner in 2 because Rebar Mul-T exists despite them functioning in completely different ways, which people actually said about Sniper coming back before Railgunner was shown to be the other survivor in SoTV. Chefs kit is entirely designed around 2D combat and he would need to be entirely reworked unless they just decide to give him his entire alt moveset from Returns, but I'm not sure people want to play melee Chef in 2 considering how terrible Melee tends to be in that game outside of Loader.
there’s a good combo route you can use for basically any enemy if you use drill then turn around into backblast, it puts you right next to them while stunning them 👍
Cool quirk about miner and his alt utility. Usually it damages you for 25% hp, but if you use it after your drill secondary, the i-frames prevent the self-damage. So it turns into a free AOE explosion and some scorch meter with no downside.
You can get the legendary chest by floating up through the floor right above one of the wall cracks/lines. Need movement like feather or jetpack, though. Using the platform on the right to just do a U is easier than going straight up from the floor since you usually won't have that much vertical mobility
I am in no way an expert at the character, but my favorite is miner and pilot. I've had a lot of luck on my runs getting burned to max, then you can hold in your dash and go back and forth for bigger damage, gets a bit higher with certain damage items. But hey thats just my runs, ive noticed if i get a couple backup mags on pilot his second ability SHREDS bosses on monsoon i have deleted a boss with only one backup mag is there a damage boost when the enemy is airborn or you're airborne because if i parachute then use the second ability to shoot down ive deleted health bars. As for miner i love stopwatch on them because it allows me to use the drill dash to go back and forth for alot of damage
Is it just me, or do the greens in this game feel a lot more powerful overall than in RoR2? There seems to be so many less dead drops you can get in this game.
the item balance in ror1 / rorr feels so much better because everything feels good to pick up in some way contrast to risk of rain 2 where half the greens situational or straight up bad
I accidentally killed every enemy on the map before the teleporter event ended while playing a game with Chef. I had decided I'd not try that for a long while
You can become unkillable if you tap dash to get immunity frames and basic attack to get heat back and then rinse and repeat, because the immunity frames linger longer than you being able to attack again (during Scorch obv) Really fun, but kinda cheap
21:49 Fun fact: this chest is needed for unlocking a secret character (I wont spoil who, or what they do). To utilize it properly, you need to get to stage 5 on Drizzle, then find a vase on one of the sides of the map that contains a Strange Battery (equipment slot). Disabling new maps makes it more likely to spawn. Then you put it in that chest on the last stage. You need to be on Rainstorm or higher for this next part. On your next run, the chets will appear someone on Stage 2. Take it out, so now you have it in a non-Drizzle run. Now, go to stage 4 (everyone says they did this on Magma Core, but i dont think it necessarily has to be), and locate the item you deposit the battery into. Hint: It will be somewhat hidden, and have a green arrow over it similar to a broken drone. IMPORTANT LAST STEP: Doing so will spawn a unique enemy, you need to DIE. Do NOT kill it. You don't necessarily need to die _to_ the enemy, just die once it spawns. And bingo. Secret character.
4:56 I think a big factor to that is the lack of proc chains. In this game only player attacks can proc on hit items. Not missiles, uke shocks, wisp explosions, nothing. Because of that and the fact healing is much more important, the item meta ends up being different from ror2 even though most of the items themselves are the same
Miner was given some good changes in rorr. Secondary no longer has a 2 second charge time to do full damage and the heat meter makes him so much more interesting to play! Quick tip, you can use the I frames from drill charge to pop burnout without taking damage and pickaxe throw absolutely melts worms (as do any piercing non hitscan projectiles)
The patch meant that the aiming is horizontal based on MOUSE instead of having to physically move the character in the direction you want to aim. Basically what he described
For me ror 2 was not as fun as the 1st. The teleporter range and the need for speed were a turnoff for me. They even changed my favorite item. The mk1 missle stacked only dmg in 2 but in 1 it gave you more activation chance. Well 2 was much better with graphics and stage design but fellt flat somehow (think bc 3d stages). I think returns combines the best of both worlds.
A large part of stage 1 is item luck for chat because chat is bad and doesn’t realize that what items they got only mattered because they wasted the time to get the items in the first place and made everything stronger in the process
F**K my old boots!!! I literally only watched the first couple minutes yet your RNG was so good i felt i may as well just quit playing this game, lololol. Ridiculous!!!!

Loader on 1 was OP, so OP in fact it was a house rule that she couldn’t be played. A 3 second immortality with a 5 second cooldown is not ok
@@drakonlegend4452 well, it's also true. Also, if i remember correctly, in the first game Loader was a male.

I really wonder if that's intentional. Hopefully they don't patch it out.

After playing Miner in ror, i desperately want him back in the ro2 dlc, easily one of the most fun survivor kits in both games.
The only problem is that his heat mechanic is practically identical to void fiend. Tin all honesty, if they were to add anyone I think chef would be a great addition.
